Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location of the Tap House was excellent, and the pub side of the business was very good.
The room was very small and the bathroom needs a refurb. The furniture in the bedroom was poor quality and needs replacing due to marks and scuffs. This room should be advertised as a single room only.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Location was excellent for what I needed.
The curtains didn’t keep out the light. I was also disturbed as room was by the bins and both Kate at night and first thing in the morning these were being used by the staff.
Lovely setting and very clean rooms. Pub next door food was very good only downside was they don't offer breakfast.
Needs blinds as well as curtains on the windows as very open onto the car park. Which can be quite busy. Glasses for water. A little fridge would be great addition as well.
Property was fine, good location
On Friday night There was a woman swearing loudly at the bar, using really horrible language so we left and went to our room. This spoilt our very successful stay.
Easy access, private and comfortable
Needed another key
Easy access for my husband who has mobility problems
No toaster
The room was ok but smelt a bit
no breakfast could be bought on site
The room was comfortable and everything you need. Handy to have meal in pub
Nothing
Well appointed room n comfy bed. Quiet location (after pub closes). Good to have the pub option for drink n food. Parking on site a bonus
No fans available. Very noisy unwelcome male member of staff talking n smoking outside my bedroom window. Postcode does not correspond with location of property.
Outside of property
Despite saying pets were free on booking.com, we had to pay at £10 charge ! The room had mould/mildew on the shower base and window seals -there was a hole in the wall and the toilet floor and drawers were badly stained
Lovely staff. Nice size for tbe one night we stayed. Nice nathroom. Comfy bed. Great location 5 mins from town centre.
Floor of bathroom horrible pink stains..just looked a bit scruffy considering the shower etc were so nice. Small towells really worn and tatty.
Beds comfy, good location
Shower was useless and the curtains let in all the light and the cleaner was playing music and signing which woke us up
Comfy beds, good value for the price, good location, loads of car park spaces, easy check in and out.
Very noisy in the mornings, door handle and window handles all falling off, pretty run down and could use some TLC.
Friendly staff and great food
Very small room
The property was well located for us. Beds were comfortable and it was clean.
We weren’t able to check in early (only an hour) so had to change elsewhere as we were going to a funeral. Not able to check in at all so told them we would be back late evening then had lots of calls asking where we were! Also no towels in the room which we had to call and ask for
Lovely staff. Large car park and spaces outside rooms. Fantastic outside pub seating areas. Pub does proper pub grub, which is rare now days. Plenty of choice of lagers. Bed was very comfortable. Good size TV on wall. Enough wardrobe and drawer space for my one night stay. Shower was bigger than standard showers.
No desk in room to be able to work. Entry doors and bathroom could do with an update. Door handle was loose and hard to open room door from outside. Bathroom looked like it has been years since last refurb.
All good, everything I needed was available, easy access from the carpark, which was ideal as my colleague is disabled.
I would have liked a fan available, as there is no air conditioning
The outdoor appearance. The staff were very friendly and concerned
Some of the food was very poor..the bruscetta was cold cherry tomatoes on hardly toasted/riddled sliced bread with no taste of garlic even! The lemon posset was OK but no taste of lemon.Small fish and chips were very nice though!
We just used the room as a stop over, the pub is really nice although situated on a blind corner. The room was great, had everything we needed but unfortunately was plagued with ants and flying ants. The manager did come out and use powder and sprays to sort it out.
The actual pub itself was lovely and the food menu was extensive. We only had a lunchtime snack but it was good. There was an extensive range of beers and wines, including Clarkson's Hawkstone, and had a fantastic outdoor area.
The rooms were separate to the main building which we quite liked. However, they were quite small and in need of some refurbishment. With the room being small and the bed frame being made of wood we continually banged our legs on the bottom frame of the bed. On a plus point it have a fridge in the room together with complimentary fruit juice, coffee, tea and biscuits.
Very pleasant staff very friendly anything you need and there there straight away
Only thing that I would say is this hotel do not do breakfast
Quiet
Was quite run down. Broken table in living room. We thought there might have been some tea or coffee supplied but nothing, there’s no shops around if you’re desperate.
Convenient location and comfortable beds
A little tired and dated and in need of a refurb
We stayed there for World Superbike racing at Donington Park great location 12 mins drive to circuit was just what we expected
Nothing really
A nice little property in a good location
The walls are quite thin
From the outside beautifully presented with amazing hanging baskets. Bar and restaurant were tidy and inviting. All members of staff were polite and friendly especially the new chef, serving staff and bar staff. Lovely outside area with comfy garden chairs, background music and large tv screen. Food in the restaurant was cooked well and delicious. Large car park. It was a good base for us to visit the Charnwood forest for our alpaca experience as literally 15 minute walk.
We stayed in the accommodation on site. Our room was quite tired looking and needed sprucing up. The bathroom was a good size but needed a better clean, especially the shower door, silicone needs looking at and curtain hook mending. Kettle was too big for the sink, mugs weren’t changed through our stay, no glasses for our water. We brought our fan from home thank goodness as room was very stuffy and as we were on ground level didn’t safe to have the window open. Also sent the hotel a message that was never replied to.
Got there at 9.30pm was locked out and the pub was closed so could not stay there and had to find alternative accommodation. Left me stranded and very very poor. Still waiting on my refund

Always love it!
We loved this place from the moment we arrived and will definitely return. It's easy to find with plentiful parking and we were given a warm welcome. The young staff were all very friendly. The accommodation is purpose built in a courtyard which is perfect for people with mobility issues and those of us with dogs. The room was large and well furnished with a good ensuite. Complimentary drinks were generous and included two bottles of fruit juice ( a nice touch in this hot weather) The Taphouse is lovely with some great beers and reasonably priced food including a carvery Ashby de la Zouch with its castle and shops is nearby An excellent find 🙏
Nothing
Had park on site beer garden
Needed a good refub good clean
Stayed for one night to attend a family wedding. For us the location was fantastic as the reception was being held at the pub next door..you couldn't get any closer! Added bonus that we could also take our dog. The bungalow was clean and tidy, quite basic but very suitable for a short stay.
It was conviant for us as we stayed for a wedding, plenty of car parking space the room had a kettle
It was basic but not very clean there was stains on the carpet and walls , mould around the windows and ceiling and the white bedding had marks which wasnt the best to look at all
Lovely staff, very accommodating
Had park for kids
In need of refurb
Location
A little noisy
Good location, parking next to property. The beds are very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room are good.
There is a floodlight outside the room which makes the room very light at night. Being next to a pub, there are bottle bins (which are located outside our room 1A). These were emptied very early in the morning, very loud! I suppose we were unlucky to stay the one night that they were emptied
Dinner was good but no veg option.
Staff were unwelcoming, no glasses in the room, bathroom door didn't lock.

Location was really pretty
Arrived on Friday lad behind bar wasn’t very welcoming told there was no food but is advertised for food, no breakfast available, constant slamming of doors, I should have researched but was a flight path so planes going over all night, no hooks for towels and as I was getting dressed in morning somebody tried opening door (luckily it was locked) so I had to confront man next door who said he got wrong room. Mould above window, marks on wall behind bed headboard and rust. I would have complained but with it being a bank holiday weekend knew we have trouble finding somewhere else to stay.
Location
.
Very good well presented surrounding, they obviously take a lot of care of the grounds. Comfortable beds. Quiet area tucked out of the way of road noise. All the facilities were clean and in good order. Pub activities finished at 10 pmish.
All good.
Good location for our needs, a two bedroom bungalow rather than rooms which was great, friendly staff, nice carvery, great outdoor area.
Room hadn’t been fully made up when we checked in and got into our bungalow, not a massive issue and the guys sorted it straight away. Very apologetic and they were short staffed too I believe. Bed was quite uncomfortable though.
The bed was clean and comfortable
On our arrival, we got a very lukewarm greeting. After a few minutes we were handed a key. Upon entering the allocated room, we discovered it was not prepared for guests. The bed was stripped but unmade, and the room didn't look particularly clean. We went back to the bar, explained, and 2 of the staff apologised briefly, but looked startled. After another few minutes, we were allocated a new room. There was a dirty sheet on the floor, and a used towel on the back of the bathroom door! The toilet seat doesn't fit properly, the bathroom radiator was rusty, and some skirting board looked in need of repair/ cleaning. The whole room felt like student digs, rather than guest accommodation. The bar staff seemed a little shocked at having to deal with customers..... We will not be back.
Very good value for money, the staff especially Jake were very helpful and welcoming.we stayed as a family group and found having the cottage space along separate rooms work fantastically well.
Remember it's not a 6 star hotel so don't mark it down for not being one and the prices are great in regards to what you get
Good facilities
There was a slight musky smell. May need airing
Bed wasn't comfortable they didn't do food on the day we were there they don't say anything on the website
We stayed here to visit friends in an nearby village , the location was perfect for us. Our room was clean, basic and small, the en-suite was quite large for the size of our room. . We had the carvery at The Tap House restaurant, large portions and well priced. The people we met during our stay were really friendly too. I'd say the Tap House is an ideal choice for a stop over and good value for the price.
Didn't like the noise in the morning coming from what I think was the shower , in the cottage room next door to our room, when it was in operation. And although our meal was fine , our friend had a chicken burger which was slightly under cooked, the staff were brilliant and sent back and replaced but by time it came back , everyone had finished their meal , but these slight mistakes happen.
Easy parking and super carvery.
The windows’ double glazing has broken down so this little room took ages to warm up.
No option for breakfast. Cottage dated. View from bedroom scruffy.
No breakfast service. Recommended to breakfast at Cafe quarter mile down road, next to co-op, OK and convenient.
Restaurant closes at 18:00. Supper available at Premier Inn off A42 interchange.
Good location for what we needed. Comfortable, great facilities. Friendly team
Nothing
Room was spacious, nice secluded location. Pub was beautiful and had a slide outside for the little one.
Rooms were rather cold so couldn’t get a cosy feeling
Location convenient for our purposes
We ate at the pub. Nice friendly environment however food not brilliant, basically a re heated dinner time carvery.
The food, drink and hospitality in the pub was excellent
The cottage just required a little TLC.
The shower in 1b needs fixing, the water was so hot you couldn't use it without scalding yourself badly.
Room
Nothing, it was lovely
N/A
Excellent all round
We booked last minute and payed a high price for a very basic stay
The bed was uncomfortable and the room was cold
The pub next door
The room and bed was old grubby and dirty
No breakfast available, light over sink did not work
We have stayed here once before. The room is comfortable and clean and has everything you need. The fruit juice is a welcome extra!
It was all good.
Very nice staff and rooms. Lovely pub attached.
A bit expensive and out of the way.
Lovely , peaceful stay. We have stayed here a few times now and will do so again.
Shame the hotel does not supply breakfast.
Nothing.
Everything
It was clean and the tea and coffee tray was good also ensuite was okay too
Was really cold especially during night chair in room had large stain on it
Good and cosy
I ddnt get a chance to ask if there are family homes not just for 2pple otherwise everything is on point
We didn’t eat at the pub although the roast looked delicious! They don’t offer breakfast but the fruit juice was most welcome 👍
We arrived quite late, I would have appreciated a bit more light outside the rooms
Lovely pub with adjacent rooms. Plenty of parking too. Room was perfect for our needs, warm, clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee in room, even an iron. Very good value for the money. Try the beers brewed on the premises if that's your thing!
I'd be picky if I put anything. It's not the Ritz, but it's not Ritz prices. A pleasant stay will be had if you recognise it for what it is.
The location was good, the pub was lovely and the parking was great.
The sofa bed was the most uncomfortable thing barring a floor I’ve ever slept on. We’d booked for 5 people but there were only 4 cups, no glasses, no dishcloth, no washing up liquid and no tea towel. The 4 beds were made up but I had to ask in the bar for a duvet cover & pillow case for the sofa bed, unfortunately I forgot to ask for a sheet and being vegan leather it was very cold & generally uncomfortable. As there were no materials for us to wash up with, we left the accommodation somewhat messier than we would normally have liked. If we were staying for more than 1 night we would have purchased our own but for a single night it wasn’t worth it and we thought these basic items would have been provided in self catering accommodation. More toilet roll would also have been appreciated.
Lovely as always
Everything. Perfect
Nothing
Clean , comfortable and safe parking
The kitchen wasn’t very well equipped. There were no glasses, oven mitt, some washing up liquid would help also
