The Netflix didn't work. I did phone the host and she was unable to connect. At least I had Showmax to watch. No hot water in the shower, but there was hot water in the basin. The gate that didn't want to close and I had to phone the host. Phoning a host all the time with issues isn't nice at all.

The host. The reception was poor. We waited outside for a very long time, more than an hour with no help. They need to improve! Contact the clients before arrival, confirm their arrival time or maybe share a passcode that will allow them to get into the property on arrival.

Reviewed Apr 8, 2025There was no breakfast, it is a self-catering type of accommodation. I liked the cleanliness, and it had everything needed to make your own food. They have a smart TV that is pre-loaded with Netflix, Showmax and YouTube so you never miss out on your favorite shows.
Signage/branding. this place is not loaded on Google maps, you only find it using the address. When you reach the gate, you are not sure you are at the right place since there is not even a board outside that says Contemporary Gem studio

Reviewed Jan 8, 2025Zoe was a wonderful host. I have stayed in many places in Newcastle and I would rate this accommodation and one of the best. Room was super clean, bed was comfortable shower had very good water pressure. We didn't have time to relax in the beautiful garden but I will the next time I book. There was also a message board which was so special. Thank you Zoe

Reviewed Oct 21, 2024The rooms are spacious, neat, clean, and I loved the layout from the bedroom to the lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. This is a self-catering room if you want to make your own meals. It has a fridge, microwave as well as a countertop oven with two plates. The garden is absolutely gorgeous. It has a swimming pool which is kept neat and clean, flower beds, braai area, lappa, and a lovely lounging space to relax and warm up after a swim.
We were shocked when switching the TV on to find it on a pornografic channel. I would suggest that the TV's are checked for the following visitor's stay. The lock to the back door has been damaged and is not very secure. Other than that, the stay was great.
