This was our home for three nights – and let’s just say, we settled in remarkably quickly. 😄 Saul is a fantastic host. On our first evening, only the bar was open. What started as “we’ll just have a quiet drink” somehow turned into a rather long evening with some of the regulars. At some point during the evening, we apparently lost our status as “tourists” and were even treated to the final round by the group. 🍻 The long and very entertaining conversation – entirely in English, of course, and probably becoming increasingly creative as the evening went on – was honestly one of the best and most unexpected experiences of our trip. We also got plenty of recommendations for places to visit over the next few days. We wisely decided to trust the locals – and that turned out to be an excellent decision. Every single recommendation was spot on. Naturally, we came back for dinner on both of the following evenings. Purely for quality-control purposes, of course. And yes: the food was absolutely delicious both times. Breakfast is wonderfully uncomplicated too: you simply arrange the evening before what you’d like the next morning, and when you come down, a really lovely breakfast is waiting for you. Exactly how it should be. And it’s not just the bar and the food – the rooms are lovely too. Comfortable beds, cosy rooms and an atmosphere that makes you feel at home straight away. It doesn’t feel like some anonymous hotel, but rather the kind of place you genuinely look forward to coming back to after a long day. In short: we came for the accommodation, stayed for Saul, the food and the people – and left with some wonderful memories and, quite possibly, slightly improved English pub-conversation skills.
The property was well maintained, clean and inviting Staff were very friendly Lovely food
Nothing
This pub is a little Gem. The staff are friendly. The pub is incredibly well presented. The room was excellent and the meal we had was very good. The location was perfect for us because we had booked to see a show at The Patriot in Crumlin which was just a 10 minute drive.
There was nothing to dislike except the mattress for me was a little thin. The wife being lighter had a great night's sleep though. I must stress I am quite heavy and have a fussy back so don't let this put you off.
Friendly, helpful. Quiet setting but plenty of people to talk to Accommodation was first class. Staff went out of their way to help
Couldn't fault anything
The room was perfect for a little one night stay, and felt very cosy. Even though it was above the pub, you could not hear any noise from down below. Very tasty food and friendly staff :)
Lovely little pub Cosy, clean rooms

Great pub with lovely rooms. Staff welcoming. Rooms clean with everything we needed. Large car park. Good selection of beers and other drinks available. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was lovely. Hubby particukarly enjoyed his pork chop. Plenty of choice. Tge breakfasts were also very tasty.
A hand rail woukd make it easier to get into the bath for a shower.
This was a lovely pub stay, staff were very hospitable and welcoming, rooms were clean and cozy, beds were very comfortable.
A bit of noise from the kitchen, note steps walking up to the rooms.
We only stayed 1 night as we were passing through the area but it was a great room. The staff were amazing, we arrived on a Sunday and food was only being served until 5pm but they happily plated us up a roast to eat later for which we were very grateful for!
The staff was wonderful, we had a very good time discussing over breakfast. The dinner was excellent, and the accommodation very confortable!
Unfortunately, a smell of fried food in the bathroom
The manager of The Little Crown Inn, Saul, was his name I think, met us on our arrival. We had planned to arrive from 7pm but dropped in at 3pm and he was more than happy to allow us to check in. The room was super with an amazing shower, bed and tea/coffee facilities, and free wifi. We stayed for dinner on Thursday and the waiters were super-helpful and cheerful. There was a wide age range of customers having meals and they all spokke very highly of the cooking and service. We ordered breakfast for both days and the cooked breakfast was brilliant, everything cooked just as you want it done. We wre house-hunting in the area and Soul was keen to help with suggestions on areas to look at. Such a kind, helpful guy - nothing was too much trouble. Even the young cleaning girl I said hello to this morning replied with a cheery 'Good morning' and said she was very happy working there. I think this has been the BEST hotel stay my wife and I have ever had. We will definitely go back there when we have the opportunity. Thank you Little Crown Inn!
Nothing - it was all just as we wanted it to be
The little crown Inn is a little gem of a place .All the staff are very welcoming , the food is amazing although we only had starters due to a late arrival after a long journey. Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was superb. The mining themed toilets are worth a visit alone 🤣 Excellent stay .Thankyou to all at the little Crown Inn .
Its too far from my home to visit more frequently 🤣
Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and enjoyed what they were doing. Food was excellent with a very good selection on the menu.
There was no sign to indicate where the pub was, usually there is at least one board with directions. Found it eventually
Lovely rooms very clean and spacious. The host was lovely and informative about the area. The bar area looked lovely and clean. Nice areas to sit outside.
Lovely Inn. 5 rooms in total. You can request breakfast at the bar/restaurant the evening before. Great evening menu. Inn is wonderfully decorated and the whole Inn has so much character. Room was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Hosts and other staff are great! So friendly and welcoming. In finding the little crown I found a little gem.
No fault of the hotel, but the very warm temperatures needed to keep windows open and the fan was much appreciated. However, with the huge forest/moors fire in Blaenavon, smoke had entered the room and the rest of the general area on the valleys.
This was a last minute booking as our usual hotel was not available. So glad we came here. An excellent stay, very welcoming, the room was well equipped and beautifully clean, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Not much more expensive than our usual hotel, and the quality and comfort of the Little Crown Inn were significantly better, so this represented excellent value for money. Would highly recommend and will certainly stay here again.
We absolutely loved The Little Crown Inn. Saul and Jackie welcomed us with warmth, excellent recomandations about places to visit, and exquisite food. The inn was comfortable, clean and everyone working there was nice and keen on helping us with everything we needed.
It was quirky room very small but comfortable
No food available
A great sized room, very clean and well laid out. Restaurant had a great menu with lovely staff too.
Lovely room, great staff, cracking breakfast
Great friendly staff and atmosphere
Breakfast was superb and the location is convenient
The Little Crown Inn is a proper little gem - everything about this friendly hotel leaves a smile on your face. What makes it stand out is the exceptionally warm and friendly welcome from the proprietors and the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and the service is prompt, polite and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and have all been tastefully refurbished. We did not have dinner there but the breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent. We will be back.
That we had only booked for one night!
Very friendly good service Big rooms Great breakfast
A family run little hotel/inn. Very friendly, helpful and above all wit great food. We ate there one of the best dinners in UK. Kudos to the chefs.
The bed was a little to small for me and my husband.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the room exceeded our expectations. Will definitely stay again, thanks!
I have nothing negative to say
`We travelled by motorcycle and after a long days riding were very happy with the friendly welcome from all staff and locals, evening meal was excellent an overall great trip
Really friendly staff. Excellent food and service for breakfast and evening meals. Even though we stayed during the hottest week on record and the room was hot it did not spoil our stay
Very friendly service
The food is always excellent and the staff are lovely
There was some black mould around the lower tiles in the shower could do with spraying black mould killer on it otherwise the room and bathroom was spotless
Room was comfortable and quiet. Food was lovely and staff were attentive
Heel vriendelijke staff
Saul, staff and locals were most welcoming and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional combined with a nice beer! Our room was fantastic and had all that we needed - very comfortable. Staff gave us very helpful advice on public transport to Cardiff, great info on local history and places to visit. Lovely atmosphere and highly recommend The Little Crown Inn to all travellers. If the opportunity we'll certainly be back.
There was nothing I did not like.
Stunning little pub tucked away, spotless cozy room, staff were great.

The hotel/pub was lovely. The staff really friendly and it was clean.
If I was being really fussy then it could have done with some black out curtains/blinds.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and great food in the restaurant.
All was good
Very helpful owner and staff
The rooms are excellent. Clean and well furnished. The staff are very accommodating and make you feel welcome, the owner made my breakfasts, really nice guy.
Absolutely nothing.
The food, comfy bed and staff
Nothing
Friendliness of staff Excellent food Everywhere spotless
Nothing
Nothing not to like
Great atmosphere and staff
May not be suitable for some with a steep staircase
We stayed for 3 nights and were delighted with the welcoming and friendly staff. The owner Saul was so eager that we were comfortable, even taking us to our room personally. Lovely quiet room even with the pub below. Very clean and again, terrific housekeeping staff. Great, free parking We were not planning on returning but stayed an additional 2 nights on our way back through!
All of the rooms are upstairs. Not a problem for us but anyone with disabilities might find the stairs challenging.
Staff was very pleasant, breakfast was delicious would recommend this place anytime
Excellent room. Dinner and breakfast super. Staff helpful at all times
The room was well decorated with good quality and new looking furnishings. It gave cosy but luxurious. The place was incredibly clean with brand new carpets. The staff are very polite and warm. There is plenty of parking in the carpark and overflow. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill, which was very handy to visit Cwmbran.
The pub is very noisy. We did come on Halloween weekend so that can’t be helped. On Saturday night, I’m not sure what was going on but the music was loud and we could hear and feel the bass from our room until around 11pm (just before). The shower was only hot first thing in the morning on our second day. The first morning I tried the shower, the water was lukewarm. The owner was very friendly and keen to help and came up to check it, he said he’d call a plumber to put it right. He put the immersion tank on, but we needed to head out to Cardiff for the day so couldn’t stick around to wait for it to heat up. That evening, the water was not hot again but the next morning it was. From the looks of the reviews and out experience, the water is hot first thing but not reliable at other times in the day. This needs to be clarified to guests so they know when to shower. The mattress was not comfortable for us - it is springy and bouncy, the bed creaked every time we turned, which impacted on our sleep quality. Breakfast offer was not vegan friendly. They could offer cereal or beans on toast which is not worth £12 in my opinion. Get some good vegan sausages and you can easily make a vegan breakfast option.
The room was very comfortable and clean and had all the things needed
Because I arrived on a Sunday there were no meals available at the pub. The owner kindly pointed out some local restaurants which were a short drive away. When i got back to the pub the bar around 8pm was closed. I'd recommend checking the coding time of you want a drink in the evening as the pub os quite on Sundays so they can close up early.
The staff and the quality of the food
Nothing
Clean comfortable and the overall experience was amazing, A very warm welcoming stay, food was beautiful and would recommend to all my friends and family.

Matress could be better.

Gorgeous little pub, great location, great food, friendly host, large comfortable room, plenty of hot water, and good pressure. Loved the "coal mine" corridor - cleverly done. Definitely on the must stay again list.
Second time visiting, 10/10
Friendly pub vibe and room was very clean and tidy. Evening meal excellent and a well cooked breakfast
Can’t think of anything that was negative
It's a little gem of a hotel to stay. We enjoyed a lovely warm and welcoming stay. The managers and staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and well presented and had everything we needed. We enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant. Highly recommend a stay at this friendly little place.

Very helpful, interesting, and knowledgeable landord. Who told us quite a lot about the best places to visit ect. Room was very comfortable and the food was excellent. I would certainly stop here again.
We would have scored the place a 10 but the evening we had in the bar was disturbed by quite a rowdy young individual who was on volume 10 setting the whole evening despite the bar staffs attempts to quiten her down.
Simply amazing! The owner and the staff are very friendly and welcoming
Nothing
Lovely little place so glad we found it. We only stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed longer to have a proper look round the area. Room was lovely and cosy, had everything we needed. Food in the restaurant was fantastic and the staff and owners were so friendly. Couldn't fault the place. Will definitely stay again next time we are in Wales.

Siper friendly clean well run pub
Leaving
The owners and staff were all unfailingly welcoming, kind and helpful. Good food too. We were visiting the Tour of Britain cycle race and the location really was perfect.
