Gerne wieder :)
We spend two wonderful nights in Hostel Wees een Kind. The place is something very special. It is directly connected to the orphanage, and you can opt to have dinner with the whole family and all children. They all have a special talent and are supported in exploring it further. We talked about martial arts, and dance and they were thrilled to show us two traditional dances, and about us dancing some partner dance for them. The facilities are clean and you'll soon feel like home.
Bon emplacement, grande chambre, quartier calme, hôte adorable
Etwas abgeschiedene Lage. Keine Klimaanlage - aber das wussten wir vorher
Hot water, room clean
What a little gem in hostelworld Wees een Kind is! Centrally located in Malang in a quiet area, with fine beds, good bathrooms and the great banana pancackes (or any other breakfast) of Miss Cicik. Also, interacting and, if you want, eating with the great children in the adjacent shelter, is a real delight. The idea is that the hostel makes enough money to take care of the children, so you are also supporting them while staying there. I highly recommend this hostel.
Nothing.
Everything!!! The guys who run the hostel treated us like family from the minute we got there. Our daughter spent hours playing with the kids that live in the associated living quarters. They invited us to dine with them and the food was delicious!! Apart from that, the room was super cosy, the wifi was great, the showers were hot and the banana pancakes were unreal! A stay here is money well spent. Make sure to leave a donation!
Nothing
Such a lovely place to stay! The host is really sweet and helpful, and it’s so fun to talk to the kids. Unfortunately we had to leave before breakfast but we would have loved to join them with a meal!
Friendly hosts. Capsule beds had a lot of space. No air-conditioning, but each bed has a portable fan, so it was still fairly comfy.
Unpleasant smell came up through the bathroom drains.
Only a few beds so it was nice to not be overcrowded. Facilities were very clean and shower was hot & strong! Also let us use the kitchen.
Maybe a little bit out of the city, but that wasn’t a problem for us.
The people is very nice. For 3 days staying there I met with a lot of other foreigners from Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic and others. At the same time, you are also contributing to the kids that live there.
None
My sister and me loved the accommodation. It’s located in a quiet and save area. The room, kitchen and bathroom were clean. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very very friendly.
Thank you for everything! An amazing concept of a hostel
Amazing place, with exceptional people and children ! You must stay there if you’re going to Malang !
Location easy to get moto from train station. Local restaurants. Awesome to meet the children and learn about the wonderful work this hostel supports. Great staff, keep up the good work and see you next time.
The staff is among the best of all, been too many hostel and i can see their passion when checking in with guess, this the first time i enjoy the facilities tour thanks to that staff, I forgot her name lol.
The weather in Banyuwangi during nov is so hot, I didn't expect that. Feelks like 40 degree celcius. Manila weather during that month is better haha
Really good location, seemed safe and nice staff
Breakfast only pancakes and toast, so no protein. Only fans so a bit hot in the rooms
The staff was kind, they helped us get a driver, Yohanes, which was great. We had two days with him, we recommend
Even though there was a fan, the room was boiling hot. It was hotter inside than outside, which was problematic when we had to sleep. There was a weird smell in the bathrooms The breakfast is a fine option, but it’s not luxury nor a meal to get full by.
Super friendly host. Great pancakes for breakfast. There was not much options though. This or toast. Constantly cleaning the floors and the main area. We came to Malang just to see the colorful village. The area felt very safe as it is in a gated community. We booked the private room but the hostel was bus as well
There was a lizard in our room, which isn't their fault, but I couldn't sleep haha. Bathroom was okay, really smelt bad.
The atmosphere
nothing
Well this hostel as some.really cool stuffs going around, although the best was the possibility to meet the owners and talked with them Abou the hostel and their own history, we just loved it to meet them. So cheerfull to see the kids to smile because they have a place that they can call home. Histories aside, the place as a really good common áreas and facilities, being near off city center. The surroundings are filled up with restaurants and local cultura and is a really Nice walk from Kampung Tridi. We stayed on the private bedroom, and the only good thing was the fan and the space you have there.
The bed was really really unconfortable. The matress is probably already to stiff and outdated. Really advice some Change on that só the nights can be better for the people o sleepy there. My boyfriend coulnd't sleep there and slept on the couch. That's the major reason why we gave so low quotation. The nights we slept there we coulnd't sleep at all.
Super friendly staff and comfortable beds
Breakfast a little small (though completely okay for the price) And no water dispenser
I only stayed here for one night but it was good, they had water available to buy for pretty cheap. The staff were really nice and the money goes to fund the orphanage they run next door. You have your own little cubby in the dorm which is nice as most people only seen to stay for a few nights to do bromo trips.
Calm area, with nice yard to chill
The dorm gets so warm, despite having a big fan
The staff was kind & helpful. She allowed me to stay at the lobby after I checked out while waiting for my train schedule going to Banyuwangi. Thank you! The room is spacious, toilets & bathrooms are shared.
The host was so lovely. One of the nicest people I’ve met. I love that the profits go towards the affiliated orphanage, the dinner with the kids is a must do! They are so kind.
Loveliest family that run this place, so kind and welcoming. Room was big and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was really good. Location was also good, near the main places but far enough that it is still peaceful. Would return here
It is surrounded by mosques, so it can be noisy at prayer time. However, I think that would be the case for a lot of Malang
Wish I could give more than just a happy smiley for the staff. The owner was so endlessly sweet and helpful, she even accompanied me to the doctor. The room was tidy and there are several small bathrooms. Water pressure and heat was great. If you want, you can have dinner with the orphans, they are really lovely and open-hearted.
The room has one small part that cannot be closed. So the street and the muezzin call can get a bit loud, I personally recommend using earplugs, if you're a light sleeper.
I stayed in the hostel with a friend for 3 nights and enjoyed a lot our stay. Everything was very clean, good breakfast and the host super nice and polite. We also liked the concept of funding an orphanage. Highly recommended!!
For the price the best accommodation you can find. The staff is also super nice and helpful. I can only recommend the dinner with the orphans.
The hostess was amazing
The best place to stay in Malang… Because over all, it’s a human adventure you’re gonna live here! Staying in this place it’s contribute to the orphanage the owners are holding. You can share with them the dinner for a donation. The love and happy atmosphere was just really beautiful and emotional for us. We will always remember our 3 nights there. Thanks for all
The family that own the hostel (and also run the children’s home next door) - they’re all lovely people. My wife fell sick during our stay and the owner walked us to the doctor and even translated just to be sure she was getting the care she needed. The hostel itself is good value for money and it’s nice to support local businesses like this one rather than bigger hotel chains.
All good 🙂
Staff Food Location
Basic but good hostel & well cleaned. There is no AC, but the window & fan is good enough to cool the room with 6 people sleeping in it. Lots of storage at the beds, underneath the beds & there is also some room on the floor for the backpacks/suitcases. Good water pressure in the shower (rare in Indonesia!) & warm water.
The host hardly spoke any English & the location is quite out of town. There are multiple dingy Warungs around, but it's hard to find a proper restaurant close by. The hostel is located in a gated community, which makes it hard for taxi drivers to pick you up, because they can't find the entry or don't want to bother with the gate. The mattress was a bit saggy.
The warming welcome from the host
Nothing
The beds are huge and comfortable with sockets near to it and curtains. The staff is great. The breakfast was also delicious. I have celiac and instead of toast they gave me rice and egg omellete which was amazing! The whole vibe of the place is really calming.
It’s a quite sweet place to stay, the host is a family, they made me feel at home and treated me nice,if I come to Malang again I’d like to come back:))
The owners, their kindness, the kids, the cleanliness, the big space on the bed, they know people to rent scooter for a very good price
Everything <3 thank you so much I will come back !
- Very nice owners - Clean
No water refill
Very kind stuff
No AC in the room, location not so easy to reach because it’s in a gated community
Everything: the host and her family are so kind and helpful! The dormitory was cosy and spacious (as couple, we had a double-bed in the dormitory). The hostel is attached to a orphanage managed by the kind host mentioned before. For a small donation we were invited for dinner by the host and the children. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very welcoming. It was so interesting to interact with the children. Thank you very much for the beautiful stay😊

I can highly recommend staying here. The hostel staff is very friendly and helpful. The hostels is attached to am orphanage. If you like and tell ahead of time, you can join them for dinner (for a donation). Its a lovely experience and the food is delicious. The bathroom is clean and quite modern. I stayed at the private room, which is quite big and comfortable. There is a fan in the room.
Great hostel ! If you ask the staff early enough, you can eat with the chidren of the orphanage. They are really nice and willing to create a contact with tourists. No AC in the dorm but it is not to hot and so no issue for your health. Breakfast is good, staff is very friendly and helpfull. They can give you the contact to rent a scooter and book a tour (or do the tour on your own) The location is good, that is Nice to wander from the town center to the hostel taking small streets
There is almost always someone that react as a child when you ask the dorm to be a quiet place. Please kids, you can go to common areas to chat
The hostel is small and very homely
Friendly staff, quiet area, eating and playing with the children, they work with travel agency for tours to Bromo, Iljen together.

The place is a hostel connected to the orphanage, which adds a special emotional connection to the stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had dinner with the children there. It was the birthday of one of them and we were happy to join in. We also donated some cash. I would request anyone staying here to have dinner with the children and talk with them, it'll be a very good experience. The beds were quite large and the bed facilities were very well thought out. They don't have an AC but it was extra hot this summer still it wasn't very uncomfortable, it was manageable. The washrooms are good. The common area is also welcoming and you can relax there. The area nearby is kind of rich area so feels good to explore around.
The washrooms could have been maintained more dry. Till afternoon they become full wet.
Just incredible place with the best service ever! I’ll definitely stay here again! It was such a pleasure.. and honestly, the comfort level here is much higher than at any other hostel I’ve stayed in my life. Grateful to the people who are working there
very selfless initiative as all of it goes to run the orphanage very good free breakfast
they should clearly mention that it has Non AC dorms to avoid negative reviews
Really friendly staff and secure area in a private gated community. It supports an orphanage by staying here.
Just really read the facilities and stuff on offer. It's a basic hostel with a bed and details for a bromo tour. Nothing to write home about.
Nice place with very friendly staff
In a quiet enclosed area which makes it quite peaceful. The room is also quite large.
Don’t expect much service as you are mostly left to yourself. Quite a few mosquitoes around and you’ll need to pay for drinking water.
This hostel was incredible, the beds are so comfy, the warm shower just fell amazing, the host really nice, literally nothing bad to say And the fact that we’re helping an orphanage by staying there is just amazing
-
Everyone was really nice and helpfull, really good price + you also get breakfast
When I arrived my bed wasn‘t ready A lot of ants in my bed The bathrooms smelled bad
Ahmed is a wonderful host, friendly, helpful, polite. It was a pleasure to stay here, I didn’t actually realise but they have an orphanage attached and you can eat with the kids, I had plans most days and evenings so missed out, to be fair it was stated on the menu so it’s my fault for not paying attention 😂
No real complaints, the fan only oscillates no option to stop it turning and with the room being so hot it wasn’t overly helpful in keeping cool. the mattress in the double room is not comfortable, you can feel all the springs when you lay on it, both sides are gone and so it needs replacing.
The place is an orphanage in the first place and full with love. You have the option to have dinner with the children which is such an amazing experience. Even if you don't speak Indonesian, communication is so simple. Great value with great experiences! I was there alone for one night.
AMAZING HOST AND VERY VERY CLEAN!!
Great pancakes for breakfast and a nice ambiance!
Airconditioning or more windows that you can open for fresh air in the room would make the stay even more comfortable.
Everything about it was nice except the dorm had only one little fan and I was sweating whenever I was in there pretty badly.
Stay was good 😊 Staff was excellent.
I had a problem with their other guests . Me and my partner traveled around the world and stayed in a lot of hostels . She accused us of making noise in the room but we were even tolerant about other guest noise . I booked a shared room by mistake I thought I booked a private room .
Amazing place, friendly employees and by staying there you support the orphanage which is part of the Hostel, free breakfast was good.
A little bit hot in the room as it only has a fan and no AC
Location was good.
Our room was not ready when we arrived at 7pm. The pillow cases had not been cleaned. The room was extremely hot all of the time. Staff also not very friendly.
Ahmed, who is taking care of the guests, is an amazing person. He will help you if you have questions and knows a lot about things to do in the area. The room has a good size and the shared bathroom is good. ( 2 showers, 2 toilets for Max 8 people). The hostel is 3 km from city centre but you have restaurants and shops nearby. We stayed 5 nights and it were sad te leave. So nice people, what a special place. If you go to malang, this is the place!!!
Nothing
Amazing hostel, great breakfast. Note that all benefits of the hostel goes to an orphanage next door. The staff was super friendly.
Nice hostel with Nice staff.
