I loved the decor and that each room revolves around a worldly theme. I thought the room was fun and unique. Hosts were great, added a personal touch and were happy to help. The included breakfast was also great. We stayed in the ancient Chinese room especially loved the bed frame .. location is ideal - short walk to beach and pubs. Made for a memorable trip.

John and Alex are amazing hosts. They are are so attentive and go above and beyond for every guest. Plus I absolutely love their sense of humour. The location is Heavenly and so close to the beach and pubs. I really couldn’t recommend it highly enough

Sehr außergewöhnliche und detaillierte Einrichtung. Wunderbarer Blick auf das Meer. Jon und Alex haben haben uns buchstäblich verwöhnt sodass wir 2kg abtrainieren müssen. Es blieben keine Wünsche offen.

C est tout simplement incroyable Alex et Jon sont très sympathiques. La maison et les extérieurs sont magnifiques, les petits déjeuners sur mesurec sont excellents. Merci également pour les recommandations touristiques.

The breakfast was above and beyond. Amazing breakfast unexpectedly fancy!

Achill had a dangerous water situation that I feel like we should have been informed of in time to cancel if we decided to. We were warned not to brush with the water and to be careful in the shower etc. Communication on this issue seems like a basic courtesy to guests.

Amazing property beautiful rooms. Breakfast menu is fantastic…try something different. Alex and Jon are perfect hosts. Can’t wait to go back.

Die Lage und der Ausblick war super. Die Liebe zum Detail (wir hatten das chinesische Zimmer) war bewundernswert. Wir waren nur eine Nacht, aber für einen längeren Aufenthalt war das Zimmer aus unserer Sicht nicht sehr geräumig, wegen der Liebe zu den Details

We only stayed one night but truly enjoyed our stay. Room was spacious and beautiful to see. Location was great, view from breakfast room breathtaking. Breakfast is truly an experience. Would go back.

An Absolute Masterpiece of Hospitality – A Flawless Stay! My partner and I just spent a magical two nights in the "Arabian Nights" room, and to say we were blown away is an understatement. From the moment we stepped through the door, Jon and Alex made us feel like royalty. We were greeted with delicious ice cream upon arrival—a delightful, thoughtful touch that continued throughout our entire stay! The Arabian Nights room itself is stunning, beautifully themed, and incredibly comfortable, offering wonderful, mesmerizing views of the landscape. Now, let’s talk about the breakfast: spectacular! The choices are plentiful, the variety is amazing, and every single dish was cooked to absolute perfection. It sets you up perfectly for a day of exploring. The hosting here is in a league of its own. Jon and Alex are more than amazing—they are warm, attentive, and genuinely care about their guests. Jon, in particular, went completely above and beyond for us. He has an incredible knowledge of the island and gave us the absolute best recommendations on where to eat out, ensuring we experienced the very best local culinary spots. Ferndale is a true gem on Achill Island. Exceptional hosts, gorgeous views, pristine rooms, and world-class food. We cannot thank Jon and Alex enough for making our getaway so unforgettable. This is an exceptional experience curated by two exceptional hosts. Each room transports you to another place - Venice, Arabia, Roman times - with super comfortable beds and attention to detail. We loved every minute of it and breakfast was a delicious series of options beyond the simple, if wonderful, Irish!

Achill Island is fabulous. The view from the dining room was superb.

The room was small. The outlets were difficult to reach. My room was right on the driveway.

Breakfast was incredible! The amount of choices was fantastic and the execution of the options was terrific. Jon and Alex were great hosts-very attentive and helpful. Dog lovers might really like their Goldens

Great sea views, lovely breakfast in the morning and the staff were so lovely and helpful! We were lucky to get upgraded to a suite and it was amazing! Close to restaurants and pubs!

It was so different to anywhere else we’ve ever stayed

If I was to have one thing it was probably the fact that there was no lights when we were coming back at night. Sensor lights around d property would have been good

This property is superb! Everything you need is catered for. Excellent location with everything on your doorstep and the accommodation is immaculate and our hosts John and Alex have truly thought of everything. The breakfast is “out of this world” so many choices and superbly cooked. We could not have stayed anywhere better and were made to feel so welcome!

Breakfast each morning was a real highlight and set us up perfectly for the day. Overall, it was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Perfect location, with a marvelous view of the bay with cliffs. The breakfast was delicious; there were plenty of options to choose from. The host was accommodating and easy to get along with. The room (Roman/Greek styled one) had a quite a whimsical design - no regrets about choosing it. Overall, while this description may sound simple, the place and the people were anything but. It was an enjoyable and memorable stay.

Not a critical thing at all. I found this place on a light pollution map - it should have had a perfect rural sky at night with nebulas and the Milky Way. Indeed, there were plenty of visible stars, but no nebulas as I hoped.

Jon and Alex were extremely generous hosts who welcomed us warmly into their unique and stylish home. We stayed in the luxuriously appointed Venetian suite which offered us every possible comfort, including a super comfy super King bed, wonderful pillows, with a choice of firmness, and luxurious high thread count cotton bed linen. We both slept incredibly well every one of our three nights there. The room was very spacious and included a very comfortable sitting area, tea and coffee making facilities (with complimentary Lindt chocolate!), a well equipped bathroom, excellent shower and separate jacuzzi style bath. Breakfasts were freshly prepared to order with a huge choice of dishes all made with high quality ingredients, many of which locally sourced. We were also able to have dinner one night which was delicious and generous and once again there was a large choice of dishes on offer. It was a short walk from the B and B to the beach and Keel village. All in all it was a great experience and we look forward to visiting again on our next trip to county Mayo.

View was great. The room was cosy, shower pressure very good. The rooms are differently laded out, but their fun.

My only comment would be, too much food, but that would not be a problem for many people.

John and Alex who run the bed and breakfast are warm and welcoming. They are very proud of their beautiful building and clearly put a lot of energy into it's upkeep and decor. The food is delicious, everything cooked from fresh ingredients in ample amounts. The breakfast menu is amazing, be hungry and give yourself lots of time for this is an experience to savour. We'll done lads !!

La colazione ottima, originale, cucinata con amore e servita con entusiasmo e passione dai proprietari, gentilissimi e disponibili a fare due chiacchiere. I loro consigli sulle escursioni nei dintorni veramente preziosi. Prenotate la cena al paese! Altrimenti rischiate di rimanere a digiuno.

This is such a great BnB - the beds are brilliantly comfy and for those of you who love a fluffy towel, there’s plenty of those too. From the facilities to the decor and space, it’s simply exceptional. The owners really care about giving their guests a good time and are lovely. The food is gorgeous, varied and plentiful too

Wow….Ferndale is absolutely fantastic! We loved everything…the decor of the rooms, the food, the location, but, especially, Jon and Alex..so gracious and friendly!
