They organuzed the tours and had a reastaurant on site
The noise of little mammals around the roof spaces
I had an amazing time at Jonny’s place Jonny and his family are so welcoming and couldn’t do enough.
Just to be aware that this is in jungle so do not come if you are scared of animals.
Everything was so great. We have very good time with all the family. They are all so friendly! The tours were great. The place is inside the forest and is incredible.
Jonny, Eddie and his whole family, including the loveable and adorable Peggie pet dog, who we fell in love with! Jungle room was rural, teeming with life in the jungle atmosphere and woken to delish pancakes and fruit. I consider them humble, respectful, and the most hospitable Muslims I’ve ever met. You do the religion proud!! As a revert to Islam, I’m so honoured to spend time with you as a humble family. You are my friends now!
Nothing at all! They could not have worked harder to make us happy and amazing sunsets and beauty. What is NOT to love!
Very nice location and view. Johnny and his family are very kind and helpful. Breakfast is delicious. Definitely recommended
Everything was very nice, the room was clean and bed very comfortable. You can see the sunrise across the rice fields right from your bed and you have your own balcony to enjoy your breakfast or to chill during the day with a view. The owner Jonny and his family made me feel very welcome, they were very kind and I really enjoyed my stay there. They also offer guided tours, which is a great option if you want to explore the area with a local guide.
The bathroom is a traditional one, nothing wrong with it actually, just so you expect it before coming :)
Aanrader! Jonny's places is fantastisch!
Danke lieber Mr John, his wife, Mr Holidi and Mr Gigi. Alles Gute und viel Erfolg!! Anna

We absolutely loved staying with Jonny and his family! Our cabin was clean and cozy, perfect for two people. The food was always absolutely delicious, traditional and freshly made. We all enjoyed to talk with each other! We learned so much about their culture and their daily life in tetebatu. The tours were also very interesting, they have so much knowledge and were very motivated to show us everything. We loved that you can truly tell they put their heart and soul into everything they do. We‘re gonna remember the most how much we’ve laughed together! We were sad to leave.. because we felt like a part of the family.
It truly feels like a second home. The whole family is really friendly and helpful. The tours offered are also a great way to see the town, experience all the natural beauty and learn about the local culture. And I would recommend the chicken and vegetable curry, very delicious! :)
Zeer gastvrije lokale familie
The accommodation is very quiet during the day and placed very well. Bambus trees, rice fields etc.all around. We were welcomed very open hearted by the family of Jonny. The food was excellent (best Chicken Sate ever). Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very new and clean! The Wifi was the best we had so far in Indonesia. We also did a tour with Oni and Umar which was very interesting and funny. Totally recommend the tour too! We were also welcomed to join the family in the evening to talk and try some new local food. We had nothing to complain about. Would book again, even longer next time!
Lekker authentiek!

Exceptional stay! My experience at Johnny’s Place was absolutely amazing. Huge shout-out to Oni, Jhony, Omar and the whole team for their warm hospitality and positive energy they really made me feel at home. The food was incredible, the room clean and comfy, and the vibe unforgettable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something authentic and full of heart. I’ll definitely be back!
Terrible
Dirty.
I had a memorable stay here thanks to the hospitality of the hosts. They welcomed me like family and shared their way of life with generosity. I was invited to help with the rice harvest, learned how they make traditional coffee and coconut oil, and shared a dinner with them on my last night. The location is peaceful and surrounded by nature. Highly recommended!
Great stay with Jonny in the rice fields! Beautiful views, tasty food, friendly people, and spacious rooms.
Not necessarily negative but as anywhere in Lombok there are a few mosques nearby, so bringing earplugs is handy.
This was a really beautiful accommodation amongst the rice paddies with a view of Rinjani from the front. I stayed in a cozy room right next to the river with the sounds of nature all night long. The best was unbelievably comfy. Extremely clean and the staff were super nice. They even do food which you can enjoy on your balcony if you like. It's a family run place where all the friends and family are in and around where you stay. I thought this was really nice as you have the chance to interact with the locals.
Le cadre de la chambre. La grande salle de bain. La vue sur les rizières. Les repas copieux et très bons
The tour of the Tetebatu village and surrounding area and Monkey forest was lead by Jonny's cousins Anthony and Omi who were superb. Great at sharing knowledge of their area, culture, plants and traditions. Fun day.
Shower cold water only.
I had a wonderful stay with this lovely family. The food was delicious, and they always make you feel like part of their family. Thank you to Jonny and his family for making my trip unforgettable — I’d love to come back one day!
If you are planning to come to Tetebatu, Jonny’s place is the perfect one to be! The place is just in the middle of the jungle and rice fields. The family is very caring and nice. They have many services to offers: tours, transports to any place in Lombok and a great food in the menu. 100% recommended 😍😍😍😍 thanks Jonny and family.
Great place, amazing family! Highly recommend :)
The room we had is into a Sasak traditional Village with the bathroom just outside the room. We had both dinner and breakfast and it was delicious, but the best part of our stay were the people that welcomed us as family. The day after we had a full-day tour of the rice fields, coconut and kopi process, waterfalls and monkey forest (where we could see black monkeys). It was just the 2 of us accompanied by Oni and Oni, two guys living in the village, and they were fantastic! They showed us around the fields, looking for the best spots and it seemed really an authentic experience. They were happy to tell us about the different stages of rice while locals were working and explained a lot also about the fruit trees we saw. The best thing above all was the warm atmosphere even if we stayed for just one night! As they say "welcome to your family"! They also helped us to organise the transfer to our next stop and they have different fixed prices for different destinations.
We had a little problem with the toilet as in the morning we found a little bit of flood, but as soon as we asked everything was solved so always ask because they are really kind!
Nice people and beautiful place in the nature
The mosque nearby is quite loud, however it has nothing to do with the place itself which was in a isolated area in the the rice field
We had an excellent first experience in Tetebatu at Jonnys Place. Beautiful environment and fantastic trip in the morning with Mr. Ari and Mr Omar to see rice terraces, monkey forest and more things. Local people and Jonnys family the best, really nice and kind.
Very nice hosts, beautiful place between the rice fields and the jungle.
-
We had an amazing stay with Jonny and his family, who were all so welcoming and attentive from the get go! The room was clean and spacious with a terrace overlooking the rice fields and Mount Rinjani (though it was unfortunately too cloudy to see during our stay). The food was absolutely delicious (olah olah was to die for!) and very reasonably priced. We were short for time so could only stay one night in Tete Batu but Jonny made sure we could still do a day tour when we arrived late morning. The walking tour was incredible - we walked through the rice fields; saw the processes behind local coffee and coconut oil; visited 2 waterfalls; had lunch at a local restaurant; and visited the forest to see the grey and black monkeys! Nas and Oni, our guides, were fantastic and we spent the day laughing with them and learning so much about the local produce and culture. The evening was also a highlight - sitting with other guests to chat and listening to Johnny sing and play guitar! Thank you so much for making us feel like part of your family, we will definitely be back!
It didn’t bother us but it’s good to know there are a lot of noises at night (including the nearby mosques’ call to prayer in the early hours) - as expected when you’re staying in the middle of the fields with lots of wildlife around and in a Muslim community.
You are literally in the jungle. If you want an adventure this is your place. To enter/leave the place you have to walk through rice terraces. Simply beautiful. Also, the place is in Jonny’s house and you can share with his family. Which was very nice and cool. We learned a little about how they made coffee and spices, petted their dogs, cows and chickens.
Only cold shower, but it wasn’t too bad either.
Nice homestay, they also provide tours, you can order dinner or lunch.
After 6 months of travelling around South East Asia, I can now tell that Tetebatu is one of my favourite’s place, thanks to Jonny and his family. They’re the sweetest hosts ever. I cannot recommend more this place: I did 2 of the tours they offer, and it was simply the best experience. Also the food is absolutely delicious. Thank you for everything, I’ll never forget my time here.
The house is pleasantly located among the fields, with friendly hosts and sociable dogs.
As for the house itself, I’d mention the almost non-existent soundproofing and a very weak shower, but those are minor things I could easily live with. However, the two days I spent there ended up being very uncomfortable, and here’s why: During both days, I had to constantly beg the hosts for internet access. In reality, out of three rooms, only one gets any Wi-Fi signal, and even when I was moved there for one night (after multiple complaints), the internet still cut out completely by 10 PM. Suggestions like “we’ll turn on a mobile phone hotspot when you need it” or “you can stand near the room with signal and try to connect from there” don’t exactly feel like a comfortable solution. No, seriously — I think the number of times I had to complain that the Wi-Fi had stopped working again, or that it was connected but without internet, easily exceeded ten times in just two days. I need internet for work, for planning the next stages of my trip, and frankly for relaxing — watching a movie before bed or chatting with friends. Especially when there’s not much to do in the area after dark. And this constant, frustrating need to beg for a signal just wore me down and ruined my entire experience at this place. > upd after owner's reply: no, it's not a "one issue after 10pm", it's a constant problems with the WiFi network inside the house (many times during my staying) and also with the internet provider (at least 2 times for 2 days).
Jonny was a great host. The meals were beautiful. The location is so peaceful. A beautiful place to stay.
Stunning views of mountains in the middle of rice paddies. Jonny and his family are warm and welcoming. The room is spacious and very comfortable. Couldn’t ask for a better experience
Nothing, I loved it. Make sure you ask for the exact location as there’s no road. You have to drive through the rice paddy to get to the property.
The breakfast was great, especially the vegetable curry. Icha is a very good cook!
Everything was great, especially Jonny's singing and guitar playing
We like everything but especially princes Peggy! Jonny’s walking tour was amazing and our stay truly felt like a home away from home
Nothing
So welcoming, felt like part of the family, especially doing Was an cooking course on the open fire. Bike tour with Jonny was spectacular. Cultural villages tour with Tiki also a highlight. One of the best experiences I've had in many years of travelling. The rooms have great views over jungle or rice fields and My Rinjani, depending which side you are on.
Nothing I didn't like about this place. I miss it already. I found it by word of mouth from someone who liked it as much as me. I ate very well for a few days for very little.
Jonny and his family were so warm and welcoming. They were great hosts. We wanted to experience what life is really like in Lombok and we got to experience that on its best here at Jonny’s Place! The food was made by the family and was very fresh and delicious. They also have to sweet social dogs, that like to keep you company. The bungalows were comfortable and cozy, with great view of either the rice fields or the river. We had a lovely stay here. We connected with the family, we were taken on a trip to explore the area and we played music together with Jonny! I would definitely recommend staying here!
You must be aware that the rooms are basic and the bathroom is not in the room. It’s just outside of the room, but not far. For me it’s part of the charm, but just to manage expectations.
The location in the middle of rice fields is awesome. The staff from the minute you arrive they make you feel like your at home and part of the family,
Nothing.
Room was very pleasant overlooking the rice fields The food is very good
No signage at entrance. You have to just follow gps No hot water
Amazing location, rooms looking over rice fields & others looking over the river. Jonny and his family are very welcoming. Good breakfast and freshly made coffee. Jonny's places also offer a variety of interesting tours around Tetebatu. It was an amazing experience! Thanks Jonny and family 👍🏼
Honestly there is nothing to complain about.
The food was amazing home cooked local food. The family were so warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Had a great day out with Eddie and the evening chats and music with Jonny were great. A real opportunity to see what life was like for the locals and we would recommend it to everyone.
This is the place I will dream about when I come back home. I was just so in love with my bamboo room, the atmosphere and the jungle vibes. Johnny’s place is just a bit off the road, tucked away in a green oasis. My room was very clean and had a balcony with river view, with just lush jungle greenery surrounding me. Below it there is a shower, but also the possibility to use the ‘jungle shower’ where you just find yourself showering (privately of course) in the midst of green. The food that is made by Johnny’s aunty is the best I’ve tasted on Lombok. Johnny and his family are very friendly people, they welcome you into their own little community and take the greatest care of you. Went on a day tour with Johnny and he showed us all of Tetebatu which was great also!
Nothing
It was very authentic and made you feel like a part of the culture.
Lack of air con and seriously loud noises in the morning. But that’s something you should expect.
Incredible homestay with the true experience of a Tetebatu local family. Jonny and his family were wonderful, kind, and gracious hosts with a comfortable bedroom and terrace, many places to drink coffee, and delicious food. I took the Tetebatu tour and did my Rinjani trekking with them and it was a perfect experience.
No issues, was a bit hard to find at first but no worries.
This place and family is unique. Jonny & Anti their family are incredibly warm. They opened their hearts to us. Such a warm welcome, lots of good conversations, and an amazing guided trip to bamboo craft, sarung making and the waterfalls with Adi and Nas. We ended our stay with a super tasty jackfruit curry cooking class and dinner with the whole family. We’re sorry to say goodbye and will miss the family and beautiful place.
Jonny and his family are amazing. They welcomed me as a family member. I did the waterfalls-monkey forest and rice fields tour: it was lovely. Also the local market and the bamboo factory were pretty cool. I was supposed to stay 2 nights, I stayed 3. It’s such a quiet and relaxing place in the middle of the rice fields in Tetebatu with a great view on Mount Rinjani. The food is also amazing!!!! You will not have hot water, but be ready to receive all the love you need!
What a beautiful bungalow with a super lovely family!! Very clean & spacious bungalow with a comfy bed. Super nice view of rice fields & rinjani! Just a very peaceful place & they offer delicious food as well :)) The people there are just so amazing & kind, I really enjoyed my time there!
Nothing
Amazing accommodation with gorgeous views. Jonny and his crew are super friendly and kind. I had a great time during my stay. The room was nice, with a comfy bed and firm pillow. No A/C but the room stayed nice and cool. The food was super delicious and well priced. There was a laundry service and a well equipped small bathroom. I did the full day tour with Jonny for 200k IDR which was great and very informative. I highly recommend stopping in here, just bring earplugs for your sleep ✌️
The sleeps were a bit rough due to so many mosques surrounding the place and a bunch of cheeky critters running across the iron roof. Jonny is aware and plans on fixing this as soon as possible!
My friend and I had an amazing time here! The family welcomed us with open arms and we loved to be in nature.
There is a lot of noise that will wake you up early in the morning, but because there is nothing to do in the evening we slept in early so we didn’t mind.
Jonny's Place was one of our favorite stays during our 1 month voyage through Indonesia. Jonny and his family made us feel like part of the family. The food was delicious. The bamboo cabin had a comfortable bed and a view over the rice fields and Mount Ringani that was worth a million dollars. Jonny took us all over the village and introduced us to his family members, which gave us a glimpse into local life. He showed us hidden waterfalls and arranged a motorcycle ride into nearby villages. Jonny amazed us with his good sense of humor, his Intelligence, and his beautiful singing voice. His self composed song about Mount Ringani almost brought us to tears. I recommend anyone who reads this message to book at least 3 nights to get the full experience. Jonny's Places deserves a 20 out of 10 :).
Nothing
Jonny’s place is really great ! He organized eveything for us,the tour was really good. The bedroom has an incredible view and the bed is comfortable. The food made by Jonny’s aunty is amazing. I recommend to book !
I stayed 2 nights at Jonny's location. Jonny's homestay is located right in the middle of the rice fields, with no direct neighbors and is easily accessible from the road via a small path. The room offers a magnificent view of the rice fields and Mount Rinjani, and you'll love taking the time to lose yourself in the landscape from your room's balcony (which includes a table and bench). Jonny is an experienced guide as well as an excellent host, and will be happy to show you around the region, taking you through the rice fields, exploring the nearby waterfalls and the Tetebatu monkey forest and discovering the local culture and crafts in the surrounding villages. A magnificent cultural and human journey. While Jonny's wife (who's also a guide) will serve you Lombok's finest cuisine, Jonny will offer you perfect company, whether you want a little privacy or enjoy chatting with him about anything and everything, singing or playing guitar over a glass of local rice wine. He'll always be happy to make you feel at home, just like his family who live downstairs. As your guide, Jonny can also help you organize the steps before and after your stay with him (tour, activities, driver). My stay with Jonny was the best experience of my trip in Bali+Lombok and I would love to go back.
You'll need to go down to the ground floor to access the bathroom: there's no hot water, but that's not a problem given the local temperatures ;) Don't forget to bring earplugs: the local wildlife can be a bit noisy after dark, and the calls to prayer from the nearby mosques can wake you up in the early hours (but you'll fall back asleep very quickly).
The location of Jonny’s place is stunning, nestled amongst the rice fields of Tetebatu and (if you’re lucky enough) a view of the beautiful Rinjani. The sound of nature and Jonny’s family living their day to day life is truely beautiful. The room is comfortable with a fan and mosquito net with a firm but still pleasant bed. We chose to eat here and were glad we did, as it was incredibly tasty & the portion sizes were very generous (some of the best meals we’ve eaten in Indo). The children were very cute also!
Unfortunately, we got off on the wrong foot with Jonny after having difficulty finding his place. The address shown on Booking wasn’t accurate so we asked for help. Maybe it was due to a language barrier but he made us feel like we had inconvenienced him by not being able to find him. Eventually he met us nearby & showed us the way. (Note: if coming by bike you literally drive on a dirt track through the rice field and there is no signage). Shortly later he offered his tour service. We politely declined. Our answer didn’t feel well received and we felt like he distanced himself from us because of this. After returning from a walk, we expressed interest in doing a tour with him the next morning but decided against it on the day, as I felt unwell and had a long journey to have to make on the bike. Jonny’s attitude towards me was passive aggressive after this. It was such a shame as we were really looking forward to our stay here. We were also never told the WIFI and Jonny wasn’t around in the evening for us to ask (we did ask his friend but he didn’t have it either). So overall we didn’t feel welcome at all and felt uncomfortably awkward being left alone in a strangers home. EDIT: After posting my original review of 5/10, Jonny sent me rude messages because he thought my review was “Bad”. Instead of taking on the criticism he thought it would be appropriate to be abusive, so I have updated my score to reflect this. Also, Jonny could’ve communicated to us that he had to visit family in hospital and we would’ve been more than understanding (literally were only made aware of this from his response to my review). But to disappear without so much as a message, or even explanation the next morning isn’t polite.
Location, atmosphere, and the morning view of Mt Ranjani.
Beautiful traditional-style bamboo building set in the rice fields, the balcony is the perfect spot to relax and drink in the views with cool breezes, or watch the sunrise. Great breakfast included, and you can sample the home-grown coffee. Large bedrooms and bathroom. very clean. Jonny and his family are super hospitable and give walking tours through to fields to visit local farms where you can see coconut milk processing and many fruits and crops growing.
No issues - the mosque wakes you quite early, but that adds to the atmosphere!
Jonny and his Family are really kind! We felt confortable here. Also the view from the appartment is great! Pure Natur 😊
Nothing
The location, the noise, nothing was good
The Homestay is beautifully located in the middle of rice fields, with a great view on Mount Rinjani. The home-cooked food that they also taught us how to make was super delicious - and we felt really welcomed to the family, hung out with Jonny and his friends on the porch, got to know his family, and learnt a lot about life in the village of Tete Batu. Jonny organised us a great tour with Jalal who was so knowledgeable, witty and entertaining that we really had a deep dive into Sasak culture and the beautiful local nature - saw a family of black monkeys too. Amazing experience. The bed and pillows are a bit hard as is typical for the region but for us it was ok. Totally recommend staying at Jonny’s and thus supporting him and his entire family.
The admittedly very simple bathroom without hot water is not en-suite but you have to go down one floor which might be cumbersome for some travellers, for us it was totally ok - and it was super clean. That’s what minus 1 point for comfort. The many muezzins surely wake you up at like 4am but we fell asleep immediately again. It would be great if there were a hammock that would make chilling on the porch even greater.
Would highly recommend Jonny’s house! Jonny is lovely and helps organise amazing local tours with him and his company. Hanging out with everyone in the little town was one of the highlights of our trips. They were all so lovely, playing the guitar and showing us all the local fruits and snacks. And can’t forget the amazing view from the property over the rice fields with Mt Rinjani in the background!
Perfect views of rice fields and Mt. Rinjani in the background. Home cooked Sasak/Indo meals were freshly made, big portions and delicious. Rice wine was tasty. Tours I did was good and informative. Jonny speaks good English. Large simple, tastefully decorated room with plenty of space with outdoor balcony built from traditional bamboo. Jonny plays the guitar
