C’est calme, l’ambiance est trop sympa, un peu éloigné des gros bars mais tout à proximité quand même! Tanya est au petit soin, hyper souriante et accueillante ! Et aussi la petite famille de chats est adorable ahah

Peut être la connection internet est à revoir, je ne suis pas digital nomad donc ça ne m’a pas dérangé mais si vous voulez travailler ici, c’est un peu compliqué je pense.

Really friendly owners and helped us book taxis. Our room was really nice with air conditioning and very comfortable bed.

Romance in Bay is a simple and clean accommodation with a nice kitchen to prep meals. It is very close to the beach but a bit far from the main surf point - but still walking distance. Good value for an AC room in Arugam bay. Tanya is a great host and was very flexible with our check-in, which was in the middle of the night. She is always available on whats app. We liked the pace and extended our stay spontaneously.

We had a great stay at Romance in Bay. The air conditioning worked well, and the room was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, which made everything very convenient. The owners were extremely friendly and created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable place to stay!

An amazing place owned by Tanya and Anton that from the first moment felt like I had arrived home. I stayed there for a month and they always gave me a pleasant and warm feeling in the place. There is a stream in the backyard that always makes you feel in nature and the sea is a minute's walk away, so every morning I opened there. Thank you very much for the stay. I will definitely come back here next time I'm in Arugam. 🙏

Amazing accommodation and hospitality! Comfortable room with good AC, good mattress and water pressure. Solid wifi supports video calls. Fully equipped kitchen and private fridge in the room was awesome. Perfect location - its on the quieter side of town, with a general store across the street and a few minutes walk to the main part of town. Kindest hosts in all of sri lanka that can help you with anything you need.

Всем рекомендую данный отель! Это было лучшее место, где я останавливалась на Шри-Ланке. Чистая комната. Чистое постельное белье и полотенце, приятно пользоваться. Есть все необходимое. Можно пользоваться общей кухня, где чисто и приятно готовить еду. В комнате есть холодильник, очень удобно. Прямо напротив магазин, в котом есть абсолютно все, рядом много кафе, до океана 1 минута. Отдельно хочу отметить - хозяева отеля замечательные люди! Очень отзывчивые и готовые всегда помочь. Помогли с арендой байка, подсказали про все достопримечательности и даже секретные места с дикими животными. За дополнительную плату могут приготовить русскую еду, очень вкусные пирожки, блинчики. Надеюсь еще вернусь!!! Спасибо за гостеприимство

Super nette Gastgeber, chillige Hängematten vor der Tür und eine Küche die man einfach nach Lust und Laune benutzen kann.

Hatten leider 3 Kakerlaken in den Zimmern, aber ansonsten war es ziemlich gut.

It’s a beautiful place with very easy and chilled vibes. The rooms are spacious and the outdoor area is very pleasant with hammocks and seating area. You can use the kitchen in the facilities which is a huge win. It is at the entrance of the Bay just before the bars, cafes and restaurants start popping up which and everything is within 5 mins walking distance. The owners were super nice, we had to arrive very early morning due to the bus schedule and they let us check in much earlier than we should 🙏 they even baked a cake one morning and shared it with us 💙 I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an accommodation in Arugam Bay.

The owners here are fabulous hosts, and very willing to help with great local knowledge. Younger foreign couple, with fluent english. Rooms are very clean with good working fan, and mosquito net for sleeping. AC option if needed. Excellent location, and right in the center to walk everywhere. Two minutes to the beach. Excellent value - Highly recommended!!!

Ein sehr sauberes Hostel mit freundlichen Personal. Wenn es zu heiß ist, gibt es einen AC, Lage sehr gut - direkt im Arugambay , 2 min vom Strand! Außerdem gibt es eine Küche mit allen notwendigen Küchenutensilien. Nachts hat man seine Ruhe. Würde persönlich wiederkommen und empfehle das an jeden weiter. :))

I like atmosphere, very cozy place and also i like owners , they are very polite and hospitable, always ready to help and to give the best advice, i loke the location, location is awesome, because it's 2 minutes from the brach and there is surf spot, you can catch a wave. In general this place is full of positive atmosphere, it is clean and comfortable. But most of all i liked that there is small river and you can see elephants who come to drink water there, so you can see elephants free without safari.

L’emplacement est parfait pour Arugam Bay. L’hôte est très accueillante, sympathique et très arrangeante, elle nous a beaucoup aidé à organiser nos activités.

Het is een heerlijk rustig plek, met restaurantjes en de zee op loopafstand. Het stel dat de accommodatie runt is super lief en behulpzaam! Voor deze prijs een perfecte plek om een paar dagen van Arugam bay te genieten.

Het is een beetje verouderd, de airco hapert soms, de badkamer blijft nat (Een trekker zou helpen zodat je het water van de douche kan opruimen).

Prima locatie, wel stukje vanaf het centrum, maar met een paar minuutjes ben je al in het bruisende gedeelte en bij het strand.

Helaas was de airco zo luid dat je deze snachts niet aan kon, en daarnaast sloeg de airco gelijk op je luchtwegen. De bedden waren erg hard en doorgezakt. Er was geen warm water, maar het is warm genoeg dat dit geen probleem hoeft te zijn.

Close to the beach, clean kitchen available and fridge in the room

It’s in a good location, close to a beach, plenty of great restaurants and shops around. The host, Tania, was always easy to reach and very helpful during our stay. There’s a kitchen with plenty of utensils. The room was nice, good AC, clean, and a comfortable bed.

Lovely stay run by a very kind couple. Room had everything we needed, comfy bed, fridge and good ac! Kitchen was really well equipped also. Right by the beach and on the main road, ideal location! They also have a sweet little cat who you’ll see running around :) Would definitely recommend!!

The owners were amazing. Super friendly and helped with everything we needed. The location was great and it was very very clean. It was amazing to have a kitchen which also was extremely clean. There is a supermarket right across the street which was also very convenient. We would always come back and very much recommend this hostel.

Tanya and Antonio are great hosts. Our room was cute, comfy and don’t get too hot during the day. We also had a mini fridge in the room and could use the kitchen which was super convenient. We already came back to stay again because we love it here :)

The property is located 100m away from the beach and is one the main road. The host Tanya was very helpful with every queries and made sure our stay was as comfortable as it can be.

We had 2 rooms for adults and kids. First they were at the far end of each other but after one night the owners agreed to switch so we could stay next to each other. The airco was a bit noisy but the rooms are super clean and the fridge was great to have cold water by hand. We liked we could use the kitchen waterboiler for tea and coffee so we could have breakfast at our table and hangmat in front of the room. Pottivil has a super bakery (Rafeek bakery) open till late evenings. A supermarkt with candy, water, banana, yoghurt etc is opposite the street.

Sometimes people smoke in front of the rooms. I do not like the smell of it.

Super clean and comfortable room with AC and fan. You have a hammock to chill, a table with chairs outside and a kitchen fully equipped and clean that you can use. Tanya and Tony are warm and friendly people. They take a really good care of the place and make you feel at home. The guesthouse is located 3 minutes walk from the sea, 1 minute walk from a shop and 1 minute walk from all the restaurant. And... It is peaceful and quiet 🙂

Great value for money. Well located, on the main road but peaceful enough. The hammocks are a nice touch and the common kitchen as well.

The location to the beach is really convenient. The dog is extremely cute. The price is okay in Arugam Bay.

The room doesn't have any natural light unless you open the window which lets in mosquitos with a lake behind the room. The air con is extremely noisy. The room next door has a fan which knocks all night. The bed is just two pieces of foam, not a mattress, so it's extremely soft (and we like soft beds). The bathroom smelt bad too.

Absolutely loved my stay at Romance in Bey in Arugam Bay!

 The owners, Tanya and Toni, went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable and relaxing time. They were incredibly friendly and always happy to answer any questions I had about the area, from recommending delicious local places to suggesting hidden places to explore.
 But what really impressed me was how accommodating they were when I mentioned needing a stronger internet connection for work. They went out of their way to upgrade the Wi-Fi, ensuring I could stay connected and get everything done without any hassle. It made a huge difference and really solidified their dedication to guest satisfaction.
 The guesthouse itself is in a very calm area, walkable distance to supermarkets, cafes and beaches. Planning to come back to Arugam Bay in September and will definitely have Romance in Bey as my choice, and a big part of that is thanks to the wonderful owners.

Incredible value for money! Super clean, great bed and aircon! And so nice having a hammock and table and chairs out the front of each room to relax on. The hosts were lovely and very accomodating!

No hot water in the shower

The couple who runs the place is very friendly and helped me with anything I needed, recommendations to spot animals, organized laundry service, we cooked food together, played games and room service is once a week. It felt like home for my 2 weeks stay and I really enjoyed my private AC room with the hammock outside.

I was in a room without air conditioning, and during the day it was much hotter inside than outside. Mobile internet reception in the room is poor.

The accomodation is very close to the beach and some restaurants. It's also great that it comes with a fridge in room and a shared kitchen as well as some hammocks. We stayed here for several days and liked it.

There is a lot of street noise as it is very close to the main road. Also the owner was not there once, it was run by a nice Russian couple who lived there themselves. We paid a lot more than originally said on Booking (about 10% more), which we only realized too late though.

Bed was very comfortable. Ceiling fan worked really well didn’t need aircon. Great location!

It was dirty and smelled. Very little water came out of the tap for the shower. We wouldn't sleep in bed without a sleeping bag.

The hosts are super friendly and allowed us to check in early. They took a lot of time to clean our room thoroughly when we came. Just lovely people.

The hotel is next to a lagoon so there are lots of mosquitoes in the room. There is a mosquito net over the bed though so they didn't bite us while sleeping. The water in the bathroom is salty not fresh water and the bed is very soft.

We really enjoyed our stay at romance in bay (we kept extending our stay)! Really Kind helpful hosts, we felt very safe. I hurt my back whilst there, and they lent me some soothing balms and were very caring. The Location was really good - it is at the quieter end of arugam bay but walking distance to everywhere . It has a Supermarket opposite and lots of near by restaurants, and only a few minutes from the beach!! Our Room was great - very spacious with new red towels. Lots of places to hang things to dry and air your clothes. You even get a fridge in your room! The Air con was especially amazing, and they also have a fan in the room. The en-suite Bathroom was clean and big, with a good shower! One of the best parts was the shared kitchen. It was clean, with a sink, fridge, cooker, toaster and kettle. You can rent a moped/scooter from them, and they also have a clothes washing service. Thank you so much for having us ! :)

Sadly it was dirty. The mattress was awful. I understand that there is no Money for Renovation but it should at least be clean which it wasn‘t. The smell was awful due to the chlorine Stones.

Comfy bed but that’s it wouldn’t recommend.

The rooms were dirty the floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned, cockroaches in the room and bathroom! The bedding was just a sheet over the mattress so kept coming off and could see the mattress was filthy, so stuffy and hot you have to pay for aircon and even then it’s still not pleasant. Staff weren’t very helpful didn’t really communicate with us asked questions regarding the bus and just got back “I don’t know”. Expensive for what you get definitely look for somewhere else as can get much cheaper and better accommodation for sure
