Reviewed Jun 6, 2026Our stay was quite good, the suit was giving us the feeling of a heritage property that was spacious and well maintained.
Well this hotel doesn't have a lift so you need to take the stairs every time you go anywhere so sometimes it's exhausted. Well they have limited staff which was good but found them cold as they don't seem very welcoming or warm.

Nothing to dislike, only stayed one night as en route to shimla, but would definitively choose again next time I’m passing through Chandigarh

No fridge, breakfast or safe. Without a fridge we couldn't organise our own breakfast. There is not much in the way of cafes for our style of breakfast. (There is one excellent cafe, Cafe Olio, but it's a bit pricey)

Er stond een ruimte leeg waar 2 motoren stonden, de ruimte duidelijk voorheen in gebruik, jammer dat er niet kon ontbijten, dat moest dus elders of op je kamer. Jammer, want een andere mogelijkheid is er.

Reviewed Sep 6, 2025Die zentrale Lage war super für mich, um verschiedene Punkte in Chandigarh zu besuchen. Das Zimmer war ok pr den Preis. Nichts spektakuläres, aber für 2 Nächte vollkommen ok.
Das Hotel hat meinen Erwartungen entsprochen. Das Hotel und die Zimmer sind bei weitem nicht so neu, wie es auf der Webseite scheint.

Reviewed Sep 5, 2025Lovely hotel, dedicated to the cricket theme, with some nice and old pieces of furniture. Very characteristic place. The Staff is very kind, the room and bathroom are big and well serviced. Good functioning WiFi and TV connected to netflix, prime etc.
All great, only one suggestion to improve the number and position of sockets.

Reviewed Aug 31, 2025Our stay at the Kaptain's Retreat exceeded our expectations. The entire hotel including our room was spanking clean. The interiors were done in an elegant fashion. The staff was courteous and did their best to make our stay comfortable. The hotel doesn't have a kitchen but you can order food from a nearby cafe which will be delivered to your room.

Reviewed Apr 21, 2025As we were coming to the end of our trip to India we decided to opt for the presidential suite and it turned out to be the best accommodation we had on our holiday. The suite is huge and furnished beautifully. Chandigarh is a fascinating city from an architectural perspective and there are many good bars and restaurants in walking distance of the hotel. Pashtun is an excellent authentic Indian restaurant. Some reviews have criticised friendliness of staff, but we had no such issues, they were kind and friendly.
A mini fridge on the suite would have topped things off perfectly

Reviewed Nov 21, 2024This is a very good Hotel with an old world charm. Hotel has lot of memorable photos of Kapil Dev, legendary cricket captain of India and winner of India's first world cup. Surely a treat for cricket fans. Room was spacious and clean. Location is very good with good restaurants nearby.
As the building is old, there are no lifts.

Reviewed Nov 18, 2024The staff were very helpful with my requests and the rooms were more spacious than I expected. There is freshly bottled filtered water available at your request. The showers were hot and had great water pressure. It was great value for money and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay on both occasions. I had no trouble requesting Ubers from here. There are ATMs within a 200m walk as well as a couple of good food options.

There is a sign in the room regarding making up bed/towels etc however no one made up our room . When we questioned it with reception everyone looked confused? This was fine as only staying 2 nights.

Reviewed Aug 25, 2024Beautiful hotel. Communal area and room are beautifully presented. The decor is well thought out. Bathroom is gorgeous with good shower and toiletries. Water and biscuits provided on arrival, as well as tea and coffee facilities. Comfortable and quiet room with good space. We liked it so much, we booked an extra stay as we passed back through Chandigarh as few days later. Within 15mins walk you can access some restaurants, ATM, cafes and chain fast food. Restaurant next door was lovely, otherwise you can access taxis for elsewhere in the city.
Whilst we struggled to find somewhere in the city to get our laundry done, we used the hotel in the end, but this was expensive and a couple of thicker items were still a little damp - although it was clean. Room could benefit from hairdryer.
