Modern and great with the fire

Not as clean as last year. Fabric on sofa needed a good wet vac.

It was cosy and warm and the bed was really comfortable. Close enough to walk to town and in a quiet neighbourhood

Good location, close to everything, clean.

The bed is really uncomfortable!! Along with the pillows!! The pillows were so flat it felt like we didn’t even have pillows to sleep on.

The location was convenient to what we wanted to do.

The place although charming was extremely warm. We opened the doors and windows to let out the heat, but was advised in the handbook to keep them closed and the AC was not sufficient. We kept shades closed most of the time.

The bed was comfortable, it was well insulated, you can't rate the staff because you don't see any

Scruffy, weedy unfinished entrance, basic and overpriced, I can only conclude that the market in Tekapo is such that you can command such prices but it represent value to us.

Very clean and well equipped chalet. All the comforts of home. Convenient to the centre of the village. Easy parking. Staff were more than helpful.

The spacious home for a couple. Nice and warm with a fire in winter. The support people in Tekapo were wonderful when we had a problem with the washing machine. Would go there again.

This was a lovely little cottage that was perfect for the two of us to have some downtime, relax, watch some sport, and catch up on our washing. The kitchenette had everything we needed to make a meal. We enjoyed the sun on the deck during the day and relaxed on the couch during the evening.

Nothing really - but as a suggestion, some planter box trees on the driveway would give a little privacy from the road and other unit using the same driveway.

I had high expectations for Tekapo Toi Toi based on its positive reviews and beautiful appearance. However, this turned out to be the most disappointing accommodation during my 15-day trip across New Zealand. Despite staying at various places, the fly infestation at this property was far worse than expected, making our stay unbearable. Here are the key issues we encountered: 1. Severe Insect Problem – Upon arrival, we noticed a significant number of insects, including spider webs at the entrance. The biggest issue was the sheer number of flies—at least seven or eight flew around while we were cooking and dining, and one even landed in my drink. While I understand that insects are part of Tekapo’s ecosystem, the situation at this property was far beyond normal, making it impossible to enjoy our stay. 2. Poor Cleanliness – The cups provided were not properly cleaned, and there were food remnants left in the freezer from the previous guest. These basic hygiene issues were unacceptable, especially for accommodation priced at over 600 NZD per night. 3. Unpleasant Room Odor – The interior had a strong smell from the materials used in the room, which made staying inside uncomfortable. 4. Lack of Proper Maintenance – The surrounding environment felt rough and unkempt, not aligning with the premium price point of this property. 5. Unhelpful Host – I contacted the host regarding these concerns, but instead of offering a real solution, I was simply told that insects are part of Tekapo’s ecosystem. While I understand this, I did not face such an extreme issue in any other place during my trip. The host did offer to clean the utensils and freezer, but that did not address the biggest problem—the unbearable number of flies, which completely ruined the experience. Overall, for the price we paid, this property was a major letdown. The lack of cleanliness, poor environment, and host’s unwillingness to address major concerns made this the worst stay of our trip. Bed linen; prefer a higher thread count.

Great location, close to shops and tourist attractions. Loved that it had a lot of wall windows and floor to ceiling windows to allow light in. Loved the outdoor sensor lights that turns on after dark, makes it handy when you’re locking or unlocking as you enter/exit. It had all amenities needed - including heating in the living room, a fireplace, heater in the bathroom and bedroom as well as electric blanket for the bed for those colder days. Highly recommended!

Very cosy, and the hosts were exceptionally accommodating! Such a beautiful house, we would definitely recommend.

Was a great location. All amenities catered for. Absolutely amazing quaint cottage.

Loved the coziness of the unit and how up to date the furnishings were.

How the previous tenants flooded the laundry/bathroom and the flooring started to lift in the bathroom and hallway.

Warmed up well on cold nights, held heat. Kitchen had everything we needed. House was cosy and comfortable. Great view.

No vacuum cleaner. Shower pressure wasn't the greatest, but water was nice and hot.

Loved the full kitchen amenities, meant I was able to save some money on dining out. On arrival the house was warm, and had no issue keeping it warm throughout my stay. The bathroom was immaculate and had an amazing shower. There's also a washing machine which was perfect after arriving after a long hike. The comfort of the property made it feel like a home away from home. The website said there wasn't any wifi, so to arrive and see there was made it even better! The surrounding area of the property is lovely and quiet and the main room looks out to the mountains.

Beautiful place to stay, with amazing views and simple to access. The house was very clean and today and had everything we needed. Will definitely be staying again if we stay in Lake Tekapo again one day!

Great small place and little kitchen, able to do own cooking and keep things refrigerated. Bed was cosy. Washer and dryer made things so much easier for us! Easy walk into town and to the lake, as advertised. A great stay!

Extra towels would have been handy

Beautiful property -- clean, modern and well-equipped. We did not use the cooking utensils but appreciated them and would have if we had stayed for longer! The design was stunning and the location excellent.

No real problems, just would just have been good to have some kindling supplied for the fire, as the large logs did not catch well. But otherwise amazing!

Greater privacy would be good. Some sheer drapes so you are not fully exposed to the neighbours would be an idea.

There was no axe to cut firewood, and no kindling. There was also no hand soap in the bathroom. The windows could have a safety latch so they can be left open

The property was immaculate and had all the modern facilities that made our stay very comfortable. The view from the house was spectacular and we made good use of the fireplace as it kept us warm on those snowy days.

Fireplace could use a poker. But this was not too big of a deal.

You have everything you need in a house. The property is new and very comfortable from any aspect. Best accommodation I have stayed during my two weeks traveling.

loved the comfort of this place with the huge glass windows for that gorgeous view of the mountains and that natural light to flow into. very cosy and peaceful, having all the modern appliances and facilities helped.

only wish we could have got a nice fire going with the fireplace, however we noticed there was a ton of wood but empty fire lighters tub and empty lighter too. great heating though so we kept nice and warm.

The property is stunning and sparkling clean!!! Everything was very high quality (like the shampoo & conditioner). The wood stove was lovely and the couch and bed were SO cozy!!!

I just had a few notes for feedback: 1. The property is on the wrong side of the street in Google maps, so it was extremely difficult to find in the dark when I first pulled up because I was looking at the wrong side of the street. Just letting people know that it’s wrong in google maps would be extremely helpful!! 2. There were no fire tools (like a poker) for the wood stove and also no instructions (like what position of the knob opens the flue). It was soooo nice to have a fire but having these things would make it much easier! 3. The lighting is all extremely bright; having a lamp in the living room would be nice because I wanted to relax and get cozy but it was either super bright lights or darkness, nothing in between. 4. When I was finishing my breakfast and packing up on the day of check out, I saw their van drive by the house to see if I was gone early. It just made me uncomfortable and it was 20-30 minutes before my checkout time.
