Cozy Sand Beach Hotel

Wat een zalig verblijf! We hadden oorspronkelijk voor 1 nachtje geboekt, maar zijn er uiteindelijk 5 nachten gebleven. We voelden ons er meteen enorm thuis. De twee eigenaren, de broers Musa en Mufa, waren ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Bij aankomst kregen we een heerlijke mangojuice. De kamer was eenvoudig, maar alles wat je nodig hebt, was aanwezig. Het verblijf ligt in een rustig straatje vlak bij het strand. Op amper 5 minuutjes wandelen sta je al in het bruisende centrum. Voor ons was dit een groot voordeel, want 's nachts is het er heerlijk rustig. Mufa regelde voor ons een surfles, een safari en ook een tuktuksafari. Tijdens die laatste gingen we naar een plaatselijke plas waar veel krokodillen zaten en gingen we op zoek naar olifanten die vrij in de natuur rondliepen. Dit allemaal aan zeer goede en eerlijke prijzen! De broers zijn eerlijk en hun missie is om jullie een fantastische tijd bij hen te bezorgen. Bij ons is dat zeker en vast gelukt, en we zijn ervan overtuigd dat jullie hier net zo van zullen genieten! Kortom: een echte aanrader!

Nuestra experiencia fue la mejor de todos los hoteles donde estuvimos en Sri Lanka. Musa y Mufa son los mejores, te cuidan y están pendientes de todo. Nos organizaron todas las excursiones, el safari, surf y el bus para ir a Colombo, súper económico. No reservéis nada con antelación, ir al Cozy Sand Beach Hotel y os organizan todos los días. Sin duda, muy recomendable.

We would recommend this property 100%!!! We loved our stay so much. Mosa Mufa are such nice people and helped us with everything. they arranged a tuk tuk safari, surf lessons and a taxi to our next stop for us and everything was so much fun! the room was clean, nice and comfortable with everything we needed. They welcomed us warmly with a drink and sat down with us to talk for a while which felt very familiar. Thanks for everything!

Eine unserer schönsten Unterkünfte in Sri Lanka. Nette Bungalows, wir hatten einen mit eigenem Bad. Alles top sauber in einem wunderschönen Garten, wo man abends noch vor seinem Zimmer sitzen kann. Auch von der Lage top, ruhig eher am Anfang des Ortes, 1min zum für uns schönsten Strandabschnitt mit netten kleinen Restaurant. Das, was diese Unterkunft aber so besonders macht, sind die zwei Gastgeber, die sich mit genau der richtigen Mischung aus Interesse und Zurückhaltung um die Gäste kümmern. Wir haben eine geniale Tuk Tuk Safari mit Ihnen gemacht. Krokodile, Elefanten und zum Abschluss den Sonnenuntergang am Elephant Rock. Sie kümnern sich auch gerne um weitere Buchungen/Organisation.

Couldnt think of one thing

Nous avons tout aimé au Cozy Sand Beach! L’emplacement (à 2 pas de l’océan), la propreté des chambres et leur confort, et surtout les hôtes : Musa et Mufa! Ils ont été si sympathiques avec nous et disponibles : ils nous ont organisé un super safari et une session surf, c’était incroyable ! Grâce à eux, on s’est senties comme à la maison. Mille mercis à vous, si on revient au Sri Lanka, c’est certain que nous reviendrons chez vous!

Great place, Mosa and Mofa, the owners, made us feel at home and took care of us in the best possible manner. Rooms are good, and withe a beautiful inner garden.

שהיתי 4 ימים בהוסטל והיה מצוין. הגינה יפה ופורחת והמקום שקט ונעים. שני האחים שמנהלים את ההוסטל מאוד אדיבים ונדיבים. נענו תמיד לכל בקשה וסיפקו מה שהיה צריך. נתנו לי לעשות צ׳ק אין מוקדם וצ׳ק אווט מאוחר בלי תוספת תשלום.

החסרון היחידי הוא שאין מים חמים במקלחת. זה נפוץ בארוגם ביי, אבל קחו בחשבון מי שזה מפריע לו.

Mufa und sein sein Bruder Musi sind super liebenswerte Gastgeber sie haben uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Der Willkommens Drink war super und nach dem Surfen haben die beiden Wassermelone serviert. Das Cozy Sand finden wir auch von der Bepflanzung sehr schön und die ganze Anlage ist sehr sauber. Die Preis Leistung stimmt absolut wir waren mehr als zufrieden und können es wärmstens weiter empfehlen. Ein grosses Dankeschön an euch beide.

We had a really good time at cozy sand beach! the location is perfect, close to the beach and restaurants, but calm because it is not directly at the main road. our room was very clean and the bed was comfy. the hosts are amazing, they arranged everything for us for reasonable prices, and the breakfast was delicious, they even organized pittu especially for us.:) thank you very much again!

Cold shower

Very good value for money. We were upgraded to a room with AC, which was very nice as it was very hot and humid. The hotel is very quiet, but conveniently located close to the beach and many excellent restaurants. The room was small and rather dark, but offered everything we needed (very good fan and AC, mosquito net), and the very nice outdoor seating in the lush green garden more than made up for it. Even though our plan did not include breakfast, we were offered a wonderfully strong coffee every morning. The owners were incredibly friendly and helped us with whatever we needed (laundry, transport).

The was some mould in the bathroom - almost impossible to avoid in this climate.

As the name says, it is a super cozy room, clean, very close to the beach and 5 minutes walk from town center which it is very nice because it is quiet and not very busy. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. If you need something just ask, from a TukTuk to a Safari :)

Unfassbar nette Hosts die alles mögliche organisiert haben, eine gute Lage am Rand vom Trubel. Und durch die Außenanlagen kühl und sehr gut zum Entspannen.

Excellent accueil de la part de Mufa et Musa. Ils sont de très bon conseil. L'hôtel est charmant et très bien situé (à deux pas de la plage). La chambre et la salle de bain étaient propres. De plus, ils proposent un service lessive impeccable. Un grand merci !

La chambre correspond aux attentes des prix. Le grand point fort de cet établissement est son personnel. Le monsieur était très à l’écoute et aux petits soins pour nous.

La salle de bain manque de propreté et n’est pas hyper pratique

Cozy Sand Beach Hotel is a great spot that really matches the easy-going vibe of Arugam Bay. It’s simple, relaxed, and has that boho style where you don’t need luxury to feel good. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable, and it feels like everyone’s welcome here. I really enjoyed their fresh mango juice while chilling with the sea breeze. A big thanks to Musi and Mufa for taking such good care of my 10-year-old son — they were amazing and made us feel at home. This place is perfect if you’re looking for a laid-back stay right by the beach.

Everything was perfect..

De eigenaren zijn twee broers en zijn ontzettend vriendelijk! Wij vroegen of we drinken konden kopen bij het verblijf, dit was niet op de locatie zelf maar hij ging meteen voor ons naar de winkel. Ontzettend lief! Prima kamers, goede wifi & airconditioning. Binnen 1 minuut aan het strand.

Cabana preciosa molt ben cuidada i neta. La ubicació es perfecta, aprop de tot pero fora del soroll de Arugam Bay. Els dos germans que porten l’allotjament van ser extremadament amables i ens van ajudar en tot el que els vam preguntar. Gràcies a ells també vam poder tenir una gran experiencia amb el surf. Recomanem moltissim la estada i esperem poder tornar!

Res, ha estat una estada perfecta!

Kein direkter Strand, aber der Strand ist wirklich nur max 1-2 Minuten weg. Somit jammern auf hohem Niveau

Super guesthouse à 100m de la plage, au calme, proche du centre. Le cadre est adorable. Chaque bungalow dispose d une petite terrasse individuelle. Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques, serviables et de bon conseils (organisation en transport privé à prix raisonnables).

Las habitaciones están muy bien, son espaciosas, limpias, tienen aire acondicionado y ventilador.. Además está bien ubicado cerca de la playa y del centro, pero sin las molestias del ruido. Aunque lo principal es el servicio y amabilidad de los dos hermanos que lo regentan, pendientes de ayudarte en todo momento y eficientes a la hora de gestionar excursiones o traslados. Les vamos a echar de menos!

Unsere hosts waren extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit. Sie haben für unsere 4-köpfige Familie eine sehr zuverlässige Surfschule organisiert. Weiters haben sie auch die Kumana Nationalpark - Jeeptour, sowie die Lagoon Tour und auch den Weiter-Transport organisiert - günstiger als Pick-Me). Und das alles zu sehr guten Preisen. Zum Strand nur 1 Minute zu Fuß, der Strandabschnitt ist auch in der Hochsaison wenig besucht und somit ruhig. Trotz hoher Wellen ist Baden möglich!

Mittwochs (Stand August 2025) gibt es in der Nähe immer eine Party, von der der Bass zu hören ist.

Rooms were nice. The beds are big and comfy and have nets. There is a nice seating area with comfy chairs overlooking the wonderful garden. Staff is super friendly and very attentive - they organised transport and such. I liked the location at the beginning of town as it is a bit quieter. Everything is easily accessible by foot - also some nice breakfast places. Beach is just down the road - though access is a bit tricky with some steep steps over rubble. But just take the next street - passing one nice breakfast place ;) also note there was an elephant in the lagoon every day - just 100 meters from the hotel :)

Perfect location just outside the city center in a quiet, peaceful area. The owners are incredibly nice and very helpful, always ready to assist with anything you need. The rooms are spotless and very clean, and they come with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

The place was super clean and organised, the people are super nice, they helped us, they were there whenever we needed them, they helped us even to fix our luggage and they didn't want to accept money for it. They were super kind and helpful and the place is super cozy

I loved the common areas—perfect for chilling out after a day of exploring. The location was fantastic, close to the beach and key attractions, making it super convenient to explore the area. Overall, this hostel exceeded my expectations. I’d definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, social, and affordable place.

Great Location… Beach front..

Our short trip to Arugam Bay was truly elevated by our stay at this lovely hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, whose hospitality went beyond our expectations. For instance, when I asked for an umbrella, they provided one within seconds. The entire property, including our room, was clean, and the atmosphere was peaceful. The common area was perfect for remote work—quiet and well-suited to focus. Though we didn’t cook, we appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and the spacious fridge, which was perfect for storing fresh fruits and breakfast items from the nearby shop. The location was also ideal, with the beach just a short walk away and several surf spots within easy reach. Since it’s not directly on the main street, we were able to enjoy a calm environment without noise from nearby parties. In summary, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Arugam Bay. If I ever return, there’s no question I’ll book here again!

The owner is one of the most gentle people that I’ve met, very helpful and an extraordinary cook. Garden is beautiful. The place is situated 30 seconds from the beach. A/c in the room, very clean. Highly recommended and I will come back for sure!
