Corner Cottage Anuradhapura - Homestay and Cooking Class

This was the absolute best homestay we have ever been to. The husband and wife who runs it are both so lovely and helpful. They always try their best to make the guests happy. And if you come here you have to do the cooking class! We learnt so much and ate very good food.

De mega gastvriendelijkheid zulke lieve mensen staan altijd voor je klaar. Ook rijden ze je overal naartoe met een Tuktuk en kan je kooklessen volgen. Super 💖 heerlijk ontbijt en avondeten.

Een heerlijke, rustige plek waar we een heel warm en gastvrij welkom kregen. De kamers zijn aangenaam met een goede airco, en zodra we wakker werden stond er al een lekker ontbijt met thee klaar. De eigenaren zijn superlieve mensen. Ze denken graag met je mee over leuke activiteiten en kunnen je overal naartoe brengen.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wat een ontzettend fijne en gastvrije homestay! We voelden ons hier meteen welkom en hebben echt genoten van ons verblijf. De hosts zijn supervriendelijk en doen er alles aan om je een fijne tijd te geven. Het ontbijt is echt een hoogtepunt. Je kunt zelf aangeven waar je zin in hebt en alles is vers en heerlijk. Wij hebben onder andere lokale melkrijst met curry en spicy ui gegeten, maar je kunt ook kiezen voor bijvoorbeeld pancakes met een heerlijke lokale kokosnoot-twist of een ontbijt met ei. Daarnaast is het ook zeker de moeite waard om gebruik te maken van de extra activiteiten die worden aangeboden. Hij geeft leuke tours door zowel de oude als de nieuwe stad en we hebben ook een tour naar Mihintale gedaan voor de zonsondergang. Echt een mooie manier om Anuradhapura en de omgeving te ontdekken. Ook hebben we hier de kookworkshop gedaan, en die was fantastisch. Je kunt eventueel samen naar de lokale markt en daarna zelf kiezen wat je wilt koken: vis, kip, vegetarisch of ei, met zowel bekende als lokale groenten. Er groeit van alles in de tuin, waaronder kokosnoten en fruit, die je ook gebruikt tijdens het koken. Zo maak je bijvoorbeeld je eigen verse kokosmelk. En daarna eet je natuurlijk alles wat je zelf hebt gemaakt — geen kleine proeverij, maar een heerlijke, flinke lunch of avondmaaltijd! Al met al een hele fijne plek met ontzettend gastvrije mensen, heerlijk eten en leuke activiteiten. Zeker een aanrader als je in Anuradhapura verblijft!

Proprietaire vraiment très sympa et de bon conseils. On est en confiance avec lui et c'est justifié. La chambre est propre et confortable. Bon petit déjeuner Le cours de cuisine est une bonne expérience.

C'est dommage que la fenêtre de la chambre soit condamnée et que le jardin sur laquelle elle donne ne soit pas aménagé et entretenu.

Personnel sympathique et de bons conseils, literie de qualité, climatisation (dans 1 chambre sur 2)

Les 2 chambres que nous avions étaient ouvertes sur l’extérieur (pas de fenêtre à certains endroits) ce qui fait que la température dehors et dedans était la même, puis même odeur/bruits qu’à l’extérieur. Dans l’une des 2 chambres, pas de moustiquaire au dessus du lit, les insectes rentrent donc lorsque la lumière est allumée et qu’il fait nuit. Compliqué d’y dormir sereinement. Un gros escargot retrouvé dans une salle de bain et une grenouille dans l’autre. État de la sdb chambre économique pourrait être améliorée pour un peu plus de confort.

Gihan and Dinu are so incredibly generous, sweet, curious, and hospitable, beginning with Gihan picking me up from the bus station! I learned so much about Sri Lankan culture and everyday life through my conversations with them, and they made me feel genuinely welcome throughout my stay. Their cooking class was one of the main highlights of my trip. Over four hours, Gihan took me to the market, explained the local fruits and vegetables, and helped choose what curries we would cook based around my preferences. We prepared five different dishes and even made the coconut milk from scratch! At $20, it was an exceptionally generous experience - I was completely stuffed by the end, and also learned so much about the ingredients and work behind all those plates of different curries. I also took a tour to Mihintale with Gihan, which included stops at some local sights along the way, which I would highly recommend.

Gihan and his wife are wonderful hosts. Room is spacious and clean. We booked the old city tour and cooking class with him as well. Everything went well. Gihan was born and raised in Anuradhapura and he’s passionate about the city, its history and cuisine. We’ve learnt a lot from him. 100% recommend! Note that it’s super hot and humid when we were there (Aug) so highly recommend to get an AC room.

I had the most wonderful stay in the corner cottage and it is honestly difficult to put into words how grateful I am that I found this place. From the very first moment, Gihan and his wife Dinu welcomed me with such open arms, warmth, and kindness and invited me directly after my arrival to a tea. I felt at home almost immediately. What makes this homestay so special is not simply the accommodation — it is Gihan and Dinu themselves. They are two incredibly warm, generous, and caring people, and you can feel how much heart they put into everything they do. The want their guests to feel happy, comfortable, and leave with a full heart. Gihan was always there when I needed something, giving me recommendations, helping me plan my days, and even offering to take me around in his own tuk-tuk. Gihan and Dinu are incredibly attentive and have such a natural way of making you feel welcome, cared for, and still they respect your personal space. One of my absolute highlights was the cooking class. We went to the local market together, I could choose what I wanted to cook, and Gihan happily adapted everything to my vegetarian diet. We cooked, talked, laughed, and shared such a lovely time together. It felt less like a cooking class and much more like being invited into the life of the family. I also booked a half-day safari through them, and it was honestly the best safari I have experienced so far. Everything was perfectly organized and my sister and me saw so many animals. A huge recommendation! I truly believe that if you come here with an open heart and a little flexibility, you can receive some really nice cultural experiences and memories that stay in your heart. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed, including air conditioning. I am leaving with an incredibly full heart. I feel so lucky and grateful that I got to meet Gihan and Dinu and experience their kindness. If you are coming to Anuradhapura, please stay here.

I had such a lovely stay at Corner Cottage. Gihan and Dinu were super nice and made me feel very welcome from the moment I arrived. I was travelling alone, but I felt very comfortable and at home there. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. They were always happy to help and gave me good advice about the area. You can really feel that they care about their guests. Thank you both for making my stay so nice. I would definitely stay here again and really recommend this place to anyone visiting Anuradhapura. Should’ve stayed longer!

Esperienza fantastica! Camera pulita e ben organizzata. Situato non vicinissimo ai luoghi turistici, ma più vicina alla parte zona di negozi o mercati Host gentili e dolcissimi, con il loro modo di fare ti fanno sentire a casa. ⭐ L'esperienza della cucina super consigliata: si sceglie cosa mangiare, si fa la spesa e si cucinano diversi piatti.

We had an amazing stay at Corner Cottage! Gihan & Dinu are fantastic host who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was the best we've had so far in Sri Lanka—and we still have two days left of our 21-day trip! Gihan arranged two wonderful tours to the ancient city of Anuradhapura and Mintale at a very reasonable price. He also organized a fantastic nature tour to Wilpattu for very short notice and safely looked after our bags while we were away. It's a shame we couldn't stay longer. We highly recommend Corner Cottage to anyone visiting Anuradhapura!

La famille est très accueillante. Nous avons demandé à Gihan de nous faire visiter les temples , il nous a emmenés dans toute la partie non payante des temples et nous a donné de très bonnes explications, dans l après midi nous sommes aussi allés avec lui a mihintale. Il nous a facilité les déplacements, mené au bon bus lors de notre départ. Les repas préparés étaient excellents. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez eux . Lui et sa femme sont des personnes emprunts de gentillesse et vraiment aux petits soins. Merci pour tout.

We stayed 4 nights with Gihan and his family. We appreciated a lot our stay there, comfortable rooms with A/C, quiet and large enough with room and bathroom+toilet. Gihan helped us for the organization of our Wilpattu safari tour as well as for the Anuradhapura and Mihintale visits. And they prepared delicious breakfast and diner. What we appreciated most was their kindness and availability, really nice people, wish them success and happiness, bye

It was a real pleasure to meet Gihan and his family. They welcomed me warmly and made me feel at home from the very beginning. Unfortunately, I had only booked one night, and they were fully booked afterward, otherwise, I would have happily stayed much longer! The room was beautiful, spacious, and super clean. Gihan and Dinu give excellent advice and are always ready to help with anything you need. So far, this has been my best experience in Sri Lanka. Thank you so much for everything!

J’ai vraiment tout aimer , ils sont super gentils et arrangeant ( tout ce que l’ont attend d’un homestay ) , ils propose un tour d’une demis journée pour 12/13€ . Ils vous propose meme de vous deposer au restaurant le soir gratuitement . Ils m’ont arranger une journée au safari de wilpattu également !

2 petites chose sans grande importance: douche froide et le repas était excellent et varié mais les mangue était trop epicé pour moi malheureusement.

Gihan and Dinu were fabulous hosts! We were their first guests after a while as they had a string of cancellations due to the ongoing war in the M.E. and the resulting flight cancellations. Even so, they made sure the guesthouse was spotlessly cleaned and ready for guests in preparation for our arrival! We stayed two nights and did the cooking program - which was amazing! We cooked so many curries from scratch and learned about different fruits and vegetables at the market. The room was big and had lots of space to put on our bags, AC worked wonderfully, and Gihan was always responsive to our questions. Would recommend.

The wifi stopped working after the first night but it seems to be the case often in Sri Lanka after rain 🤷‍♀️ there were a few creepy crawlies in the bathroom the first night, but seemed to have gone away by night 2.

Super freundliche Gastgeber. Das Zimmer war sehr einfach, aber bei dem Preis auch absolut okay und auch so auch beschrieben. Wir würden dort wieder übernachten, wenn wir in der Gegend sind und etwas für eine Nacht suchen 🙂

The room was clean and comfortable. What really stood out to us was the hosts, they were exceptionally welcoming and warm and they could not do enough for us. From organising tuktuk tours, to laundry, to cooking classes, they were brilliant. I would recommend everyone to stay here. Thank you both for welcoming us into your home and sharing your stories and culture with us. We hope to come back some day!

We can only agree with all the other reviews - our stay at Corner Cottage was quite special. We absolutely loved meeting Gihan, his wife and their two boys and had the best time during our 4-hour cooking class (our meal was de-li-cious). It was a pleasure learning about their recipes and getting to know them and their beautiful country. The room was comfortable and clean, we were very happy to have the AC as it gets quite hot in this area. We unfortunately didn’t have time to enjoy the other activities offered by Gihan, but we definitely would’ve done them with more time! We couldn’t have asked for a better time for our last night in Sri Lanka and would recommend staying at Corner Cottage to anyone!

Our host, Gihan, was brilliant. He was very helpful, and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He drives a tuk tuk, and dropped us off at the bus station for no extra charge. It was great to met other guests at the common breakfast table.

The room was a bit dark, and could have had better lamps for reading.

Super homestay ! L’endroit est très confortable, chambre super avec des ventilateurs et une super salle de bain. Bien placé dans le centre d’anuradhapura. Les hôtes sont super gentils et aidant. Ils nous ont donné toutes les informations dont on avait besoin et sont venus nous chercher à la station de bus à notre arrivée. Tout cela pour un prix plus de raisonnable. Nous y retournerons sans hésiter

C'est un type d'hébergement "chez l'habitant", mais l'unité d'habitation est séparée de celle du propriétaire. C'est très calme avec beaucoup de verdure autour. La maison regroupe 3 chambres "guests" avec salle de bain privative ouvrant sur une grande pièce faisant office de salle à manger beakfast et dinner sur demande. La cuisine est authentique typiquement sri lankaise. C'est très bon et copieux. La famille des propriétaires est chaleureuse accueillante très sympathique mais discrète. Le propriétaire nous a organisé une visite de superbes sites bouddhistes dont l'un magnifique très "confidentiel" en tuck tuck à prix très très sage. Pourtant ils nous ont donnés tout leur après-midi.

Gihan und seine Frau sind außergewöhnliche Gastgeber und unglaublich sympathisch! Wir haben uns öfters mit den Beiden länger unterhalten und ausgetauscht, was wirklich nett war. Sie kümmern sich sowohl um ihre Gäste, als auch um die Unterkunft. Wir hatten zum Beispiel eine brandneue Klimaanlage, weil die alte zu laut geworden ist. Tatsächlich ist dies die einzige Unterkunft in Sri Lanka, in der wir zweimal waren. Super komfortabel und sehr ruhig. Auch den Kochkurs (inkl. Marktbesuch) und die Safari zum Wilpattu Nationalpark können wir uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Gihan en zijn vrouw waren super aardig, heel behulpzaam en er werd heerlijk voor ons gekookt. Gihan weet heel veel over de stad te vertellen en gaat binnenkort zijn officele tourgide diploma halen zodat hij ook echt overal met je mee naartoe kan. Super super fijne start van mijn reis gehad hier!

Famille extraordinaire , merveilleux séjour Nous avons passé 4 nuits au Corner Cottage. C est très propre, des dîners et des petits déjeuners extraordinaires, des très bons cuisiniers tous les deux. Ils ont tout fait pour que notre séjour soit une réussite. Gihan a son tuk tuk, et nous avons visité avec lui les temples, Mihintale, et d autres endroits, il est de très bons conseils. Le dernier jour il nous a emmené gentiment au bus pour partir à Polonnaruwa. Je pense que se sera notre plus beau souvenir d un séjour chez l habitant au Sri Lanka. Merci à eux, c était merveilleux.

Sehr saubere und großräumige Unterkunft mit Klimaanlage. Die Familie ist unglaublich lieb, sie haben für uns ein Tuk Tuk zur Unterkunft organisiert und wir wurden dort mit Reiskuchen und Tee empfangen. Für unsere Weiterreise hat Gihan uns mit seinem Tuk Tuk zur passenden Bushaltestelle gefahren, zu einem sehr Preis. Wir haben das Frühstück dazugebucht, welches super lecker war, das gelbe Curry war bisher das beste, was wir in Sri Lanka gegessen haben und auch hier ist der Preis mehr als fair. Preis-Leistung war wirklich top und wir können es nur jedem empfehlen bei Gihan und seiner tollen Familie ein paar Tage zu verbringen.

Im Bad fehlte Seife und das Internet war, wie überall im Sri Lanka, nicht das beste. Das sind beides aber absolute Kleinigkeiten, sonst war alles perfekt.

Nuestra estancia en Corner Cottage en Anuradhapura fue simplemente perfecta. Gihan y su esposa nos trataron con un cariño y atención excepcionales. La habitación estaba impecable, con aire acondicionado y muy cómoda. Además, ofrecen servicios como transporte en tuk-tuk, excursiones o comidas, todo adaptado a tus necesidades. La comida es espectacular: cocinan de manera increíble y, en mi caso, adaptaron todos los platos a mi intolerancia, permitiéndome probar cosas nuevas cada día. Son personas encantadoras, súper amigables y simpáticas. Recomiendo 100% que si visitas Anuradhapura, te alojes aquí. ¡Una experiencia inolvidable!

La famiglia di Gihan vi riceverà calorosamente, tutti sono molto cordiali e genuinamente interessati ai propri ospiti. Gihan si è offerto di venirmi a prendere, senza costi aggiuntivi, alla fermata del bus. Arrivata ho trascorso la serata con i suoi due dolcissimi figli che mi hanno stracciata a forza quattro, mentre sua moglie ha preparato la cena. La stanza è essenziale ma con tutto il necessario e pulita. Mi sarebbe piaciuto estendere un'altra notte ma purtroppo tutte le stanze erano prenotate; così Gihan mi ha offerto ospitalità nell'homestay di sua cugina. Per questioni di logistica ho deciso di prenotare invece un'altra sistemazione, dove Gihan mi ha accompagnata senza rancori. Mi hanno anche permesso di lasciare lì il bagaglio il giorno successivo mentre visitavo i dintorni!

Purtroppo il bagno non è ben sigillato e quindi qualche insetto potrebbe entrare, essendo la casa circondata dalla natura. In ogni caso non ho avuto bisogno della zanzariera (che è presente). Consiglio di pagare qualche euro in più per avere l'AC, con il ventilatore in dotazione io ho sofferto comunque il caldo.

Nous avons passé deux jours et deux nuits au cottage garden et ce fut merveilleux ! Gi Han et Dinou sont adorables et vous accueillent avec le cœur, prêts à vous partager leur amour de la région à travers de précieux conseils de visites que nous n’aurions jamais trouvé par nous même ou dans les guides. Et que dire de la cuisine ! Nous avons pu goûter aux spécialités locales grâce à Dinou qui est une excellente cuisinière. Tout est frais et délicieux, plus ou moins épicé suivant les goûts et délicieux. Gi Han nous a aussi emmené acheter des fruits au marché et sa connaissance des produits et des étals est parfaite. Gi Han propose aussi de faire découvrir la cité antique d’Anuradhapura et Mihintale car il connaît très bien les sites étant natif de la région. Il prodigue d’excellents conseils. Nous n’avons pas pu tester les cours de cuisine qu’ils donnent ensemble, mais nous sommes persuadés que l’expérience vaut le coup d’être tentée, ayant eu des échos par d’autres visiteurs allemands qui séjournaient sur place en même temps que nous. Nous recommandons très vivement cette adresse.

Abbiamo soggiornato in questa struttura per 3 giorni che l’host ha reso indimenticabili. Ha organizzato per noi tutto, anche un safari, permettendoci di non pensare a nulla. Dinu, la moglie dell’host, ci ha preparato pranzi e cene tipiche deliziose e la camera era come ci aspettavamo. Soggiorno super consigliato.

Je ne peux que vous recommander cet endroit qui est tenu par un magnifique couple. Nous y avons séjourner une journée mais je vous conseil d’y rester au moins 2 nuits et de faire le cours de cuisine et de vous laisser guider à travers Anuradhapura avec lui. Encore merci pour tout c’était vraiment un plaisir d’avoir pu loger chez vous et nous gardons en mémoire d’excellent souvenir

The best hospitality we received in Sri Lanka. They catered for our every need from arranging tuktuk to amazing meals and laundry. Hosts are delightful people and highlight of our stay in Anuradhapura. Just chilling in the garden chatting with the hosts and other guests make you forget about all worries in your home country.

The couple who run Corner Cottage were extraordinarily helpful and friendly from pick up at the station to helping me find what I needed at the local market. Their local knowledge was invaluable. As a single female, I felt very safe. Corner Cottage is in a quiet neigbourhood with plenty of trees. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They have a tuk tuk which you can arrange in advance which makes getting around very easy.

Everything was great. I suggest they can offer a village egg option for breakfast.

During the 3 nights I spent here it felt like being back home. Food was so amazing I had breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. A day tour through Anuradhapura and a safari in Wilpathu were organised and prices were great too. I would highly recommend. Thank you for everything, and I hope we see each other in the future!!

The people were super nice and really friendly, loved every minute. They were very helpful and the food they made was really good!!! The beds were also long enough for us (we are 1.78m and 1.98m)!

Amazing hosts that even helped us arrange a very last minute safari in Wilpattu when our reservation was cancelled, including driving us to the safaripark themselves (at 4.30 in the morning!). They were very friendly and gave good advice about exploring the city. The location is fast to reach from the touristic area with a tuktuk. The room had airconditioning and the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

Il gestore è accogliente e disponibile, il posto è tranquillo. Stanza e bagno sono puliti, la camera è essenziale ma in ordine. Non ho avuto bisogno della zanzariera, ma ho visto che periodicamente le puliscono, cosa che in altri posti non accade. Fine luglio, mi è bastato il ventilatore. Cibo buono e prezzi onesti per ogni richiesta aggiuntiva. La famiglia è riservata, cortese e molto ospitale, e attenta alle necessità degli ospiti. Si crea una atmosfera rilassante.

Nulla, perché la camera si può definire essenziale o spartana, ma pulita e in ordine, e offre il minimo comfort necessario.

Wat een vriendelijke familie. En heerlijk kleinschalig. Gihan doet werkelijk alles om het naar je zin te maken. Hij haalt je op vanaf de busterminal en brengt je overal heen. Ons verblijf bij Gihan en zijn vrouw was in één woord fantastisch. Vanaf het eerste moment werden we ontzettend warm en gastvrij ontvangen. Niks was te veel — Gihan en zijn vrouw toonden oprechte interesse in wie we zijn, waar we vandaan komen en wat we gingen doen tijdens ons verblijf. Dat gaf meteen een heel welkom gevoel. Elke keer als we terugkwamen van een uitstapje, stond er al een heerlijk kopje thee op ons te wachten. Zulke kleine gebaren maken echt het verschil. En dan het eten… wat een verwennerij! De maaltijden die zijn vrouw voor ons klaarmaakte waren ongelooflijk lekker — vol smaak en met liefde bereid. Al met al is dit een ontzettend gastvrij gezin dat er alles aan doet om het je naar de zin te maken. We hebben ons enorm thuis gevoeld en zouden hier zonder twijfel opnieuw verblijven. Een absolute aanrader!

Gihan en Dina waren super! Ze zorgden ervoor dat onze dagen meer dan geweldig waren. Het begon al bij aankomst; er werd gelijk lunch aangeboden na een lange rit vanuit Negombo. Daarna nam Gihan ons mee naar de mooiste plekken in en rondom Anuradhapura. De dag erna zijn we naar de markt gegaan om ingrediënten te kopen voor de kookcursus. Dit was heel leuk om te doen! Je leert koken van de besten. De accomodatie zelf is harstikke prima. De bedden zijn comfortabel en je kamer is schoon. Dus, als je onvergetelijke dage wil hebben in Anuradhapura. Dit is een dikee tip en zeker boeken!

Gihun and Dinu were lovely hosts and we had the best time!!! We felt so welcomed there. Gihun took us around on his tuktuk and we were able to see so much. We also ate literally every meal at the homestay and the food was 10/10 (Dinu’s kitchen is the best restaurant in town) and everything was able to be vegetarian. Would recommend highly! We were able to learn so much about Sri Lanka just with our conversations. Gihun also got us some local foods when asked and was able to pick us up from the train station which was super nice!

De eigenaar en zijn vrouw zijn schatten! Hij nam de tijd om samen met ons te bepalen wat we zouden gaan doen. Hij heeft nu nog maar 2 kamers, maar gaat uitbreiden. Hij deelde veel over zijn privéleven en bekijk zeker hun trouwalbum dat daar ligt. Hij bracht ons overal naar toe in de tuktuk (wel betaald) incl sightseeing naar alle stupas en hun national tree. Hij regelde last minute onze safari naar Wilpattu en ging zelfs mee (al 40 x geweest zei hij). Was fijn want hij sprak beter Engels dan de driver. En hij regelde avondeten na de Safari in de accommodatie (prima) en vervoer naar trincomalle.

Er is geen airco alleen een ventilator. Het was bloedheet dus die airco zou wel heel fijn zijn geweest. Geen extra faciliteiten zoals een zwembad zoals je kan begrijpen gezien het aantal kamers.

Our stay at Corner Cottage was great! The couple where so welcoming and warm. The food they cooked for us was so tasty! We did a cooking class with them aswell, which was so fun and interesting! They took such good care of us. The room is simple, yet spacious and clean, as is the bathroom. The bed was big, so very comfortable for my 2 meter long boyfriend ;) You also have a living area with sofas. If you go to Anuradhapura, I would really recommend staying at Corner Cottage!

Das Corner Cottage war mein Zuhause für 2 Nächte. Es liegt sehr schön in einer ruhigen Gegend und wird von einer Familie geführt, der Gastfreundschaft wirklich am Herzen liegt. Giham holte mich vom Bus ab und half mir meine Ausflüge zu planen. Dank seiner Ideen und Vorschläge konnte ich Anuradhapura, Minhitale und sogar Wilpattu leicht und bequem erkunden, sogar kurzfristige Planänderungen hat er möglich gemacht. Entweder hat er mich begleitet, dorthin gebracht oder jemanden dafür organisiert. Divu zaubert köstliches Essen und kümmert sich liebevoll um ihre Gäste. Beide gehen auf Wünsche und Bedürfnisse ein und machen dabei immer mehr als sie müssten. Ihre Herzlichkeit hat meinen Aufenthalt zu etwas Besonderem gemacht. Die Familie mit ihren beiden Jungs ist mir in dieser kurzen Zeit sehr ans Herzen gewachsen und ich kann das Corner Cottage einfach nur empfehlen.

We had a great stay with this family. Gihan and Dinu are incredible hosts, adorable and always ready to help us. I recommend you eat at their house; it's the best meals we've ever had. They organized our safari, temples, and even came to pick us up and take us back to the bus station. They are a very caring family. You can go to their house with your eyes closed.

Very nice, helpful and knowledgeable hosts. They organise Tuktuk tours to Anuradhapura sites and also mihintale (really worth this one!). Good value for money.

Location - far from city , requires tuk tuk to go anywhere. There is no hot water (not a big issue given the hot temperatures). The door doesn’t close properly. AC makes a lot of noise (a bit annoying during the night). Overall all fair for the price!

Gihan et sa femme nous ont super bien accueillis. La chambre et la salle de bain était grandes et très propres. Nous avons également fait un cours de cuisine. Nous sommes d’abord aller au marché choisir les ingrédients et ensuite nous avons appris à faire un excellent Rice and Curry. Super expérience qu’on recommande fortement! Vous ne pouvez pas vous tromper avec ce logement, vous vous sentirez comme chez vous.

Everything was just as promised. There were no other guests that night so I had the living room and verandah to myself. Everything went as expected.

From start to finish, this family went above and beyond to make me feel at home. They took me everywhere, prepared the most delicious meals, and genuinely did everything they could to make my stay perfect. We had lovely conversations — not only about their family life but also about the country’s culture and history, which gave me a much deeper understanding of Sri Lanka. The father even took us on two early-morning tours at 4:30 AM, which were truly special experiences. The accommodation is clean, well-kept, and comfortable. Staying here was such a joy — I can’t recommend it enough. This is the kind of family you truly want to support!

Wonderful stay with Gihan and Dinu! We stayed twice for a total of 7 nights. A wonderful, authentic experience in Sri Lanka. They are extremely kind and welcoming. They speak English very well, and we were able to take the time to ask questions and discuss many topics such as culture, sports, politics, food, customs, etc. This allowed us to better understand this country. They truly care about their guests, making sure we have everything we need and giving great tips for visiting the city and its surroundings. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner if needed (we recommend trying it at least once because it's delicious). We did the cooking program, which involves buying ingredients at the market and then cooking together. It was great to see all the flavors they add to the dishes we enjoyed afterwards. They know a contact for a safari in Wilpattu National Park and can help organize it. Regarding the accommodation, it's located on a very quiet alley. There's a kitchen available and a pleasant terrace overlooking the small garden. The rooms are well-equipped and pleasant. We recommend a stay here for a wonderful human experience.
