The Common Room

I loved the overall vibe of this hostel, very up market compared to other options. Similar crowd stay here so a good way to meet people, staff were amazing they really are so helpful and accommodating, they actually did a communal dinner for those who signed up & it was so tasty.

Room got quite hot, it really needed better air conditioning in the common room or fans in the bed cubicles or something? Lockers located somewhere else would have.

So sleek and cool as a space and really convenient for a quick stay in the city.

It’s right off the busiest street so can be a little loud at night.

Everything and everyone was just awesome! Helpful, friendly and always welcoming. A great and must stay at place in Ho Chi Minh. The place serves vegan dinners on the house on a few days of the week, every single dish was better than the last one! It was like coming back to a fresh made meal, just like home!

Family dinners organised each night were great for meeting other travellers and trying local food. Staff were very friendly.

I did hear noise from walking street late at night. It didn't help I was there for the weekend.

Le lieu est vraiment très propre : des équipes de ménage sont présentes toute la journée et passent plusieurs fois par jour, ce qui est vraiment appréciable. L’emplacement est également top, au bout de la rue animée, ce qui permet de sortir facilement le soir si on le souhaite, tout en étant suffisamment éloigné pour que la musique extérieure reste peu dérangeante. L’ambiance est tout aussi géniale ! Presque tous les soirs, le family dinner, compris dans le prix de la nuit, permet de rencontrer du monde, d’échanger et de passer un bon moment ensemble. Les personnes qui travaillent dans l’auberge sont très sympathiques, à l’écoute et toujours présentes si besoin. Je recommande vraiment cette auberge, j’y ai passé un super séjour et j’y retournerais sans hésiter ! :)

Petit point à améliorer : certains matelas commencent à être un peu usés et ont perdu de leur épaisseur, ils mériteraient peut-être d’être changés.

By far the best stay we’ve had in Southeast Asia so far. We’re already six weeks into our trip, and nowhere else have we slept remotely as well as here. The beds are simply ridiculously comfortable. The high-quality, full-cotton duvet covers and bedding feel amazing, and after weeks of different hostels and hotels, the difference was genuinely noticeable. The whole hostel feels incredibly modern and thoughtfully designed. There’s a really nice architectural concept with tons of attention to detail — everything feels intentional and well thought through rather than just functional. And the cleanliness is honestly out of this galaxy. This is probably the most meticulously clean place we’ve ever stayed. Shared areas are cleaned repeatedly throughout the day, and you genuinely struggle to find even a hair anywhere. Even the ashtray outside seemed to be cleaned and polished several times a day. It’s the kind of cleanliness you notice because it’s almost absurdly thorough. The atmosphere is another huge plus. The guests we met were mostly in their late 20s to 30s, which made the social atmosphere especially enjoyable for us. It’s definitely not a party hostel, despite being located right on Bùi Viện. Instead, you get a really nice mix of international, interesting and more mature travelers — people who want to socialize and meet others, but aren’t necessarily looking to party until 4 a.m. every night. The people working here also seem to genuinely like each other and have a real community among themselves. They have shared lunches and you’re always invited to join. It feels like a place where the staff actually belong, rather than just a workplace. We also talked to several of them about their working conditions, and those seemed unusually thoughtful as well — things like shift lengths and the rotation between night and day shifts. That made us feel even better about supporting the place. And then there’s the incredibly sweet guy downstairs who helps with everything.

Nothing. Even though it's a bit pricier for local standards, absolutely worth it. Just don't come here as a group of 5+ who just want to get drunk.

Je kon elke avond gratis meeeten. Daar ontstonden gesprekken en vond je mensen om een biertje mee te drinken. Echt heel gaaf. Personeel is het beste van heel HCMC.

The environment is pretty nice !! I made some really good friends having a lot fun staying here! Staffs are so friendly! Qui,Tu, Mai are so helpful and sweet that I enjoyed staying here a lot! Hope to see you again soon!!!

The property was well located! The staff were super welcoming and nice, especially Qui, Tu and Mai. The group diners help a lot with solo travellers.

What a GREAT hostel, honestly! The place is absolutely immaculate and feels like it has just opened, thanks to how well maintained and cared for everything is. The entire staff is incredibly welcoming, kind, and genuinely committed to making your stay memorable. The hostel regularly organizes dinners where guests can discover local delicacies, meet other travelers, and share great moments together. Not only is the food delicious, but it is also offered for free, which is such a thoughtful and unique touch. The rooms are spacious and beds are super comfortable. The same goes for the bathrooms: clean, functional, and offering a great level of privacy. I would recommend this hostel without hesitation. I absolutely loved my stay and want to thank the whole team for such a wonderful experience!

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, clean & modern.

There was construction going on down stairs. The hotel did notify me of this prior to arrival and it was only during the day but they would block the stairs to get in and out of the property which was a little annoying but bearable. (Also nothing to do with the hotel company).

Un des meilleurs hostel que j'ai pu faire sur la planète (oui carrément) Hyper moderne, clairement fait pour les digitals nomad, propre, calme (et pourtant il est au bout de Bui Vien Street). Bon emplacement Le personnel au top, ils parlent tous très bien anglais et sont très ouverts à la conversation surtout concernant leur pays. Le repas à l'hostel est super bon à chaque fois et végé. Et les douches sont séparées de la chambre. Toilette et douche séparées également. On sait tous qu'on en rêve 😂 Lits confortables

Stayed at the Common Room Project for 3 days extended an additional night because I loved the Hostel so much. The hostel was my favorite part of Ho Chi Minh. Although its located on the most popular street in Ho Chi Minh its a very quiet hostel. The Hostel is beautifully designed. The staff was phenomenal! Hung was exceptional awesome you tell how much he loves his work. The beds were comfy! Loved the dinners! Highly recommend this hostel.

I recently stayed at the Common Room Project for five days and had a wonderful experience. The hostel has a great atmosphere, and the entire property is kept very clean. My room was comfortable, and having reliable, cool AC was a huge plus. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. A special shout-out to **Tu at the front desk**, who was exceptionally friendly and personable. He went out of their way to provide great recommendations for local events and places to visit, which really enhanced my trip. I would highly recommend staying here!"

I absolutely loved this hostel—it was one of the best I stayed at during my trip to Vietnam. The highlight is definitely the comfort of the bed and the room. Everything was very clean, including the bathrooms. The place is beautiful and welcoming, and the common area on the ground floor is thoughtfully designed, making it great for socializing and/or working. I joined the family dinner on my last night, and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, and it was a great way to meet new people. I would definitely stay at Common Room again, without a doubt. And the staff is really nice and helpfull.

the bathrooms are a bit small, but that wasn’t a big issue for me. The street is quite noisy, but luckily the hostel isn’t right in the middle of the party area that takes place there every night.

Group dinners work super well to meet others The vibe is super chill though, definitely not a party hostel which suited us. We wanted to stay longer but the were fully booked!

Slight smell of feet throughout the property… I get that it’s a hostel, but I’ve stayed in ones that feel and smell a little cleaner.

Staff are attentive and helpful. The facilities and cleanliness are superb. I stayed following a recommendation from a friend. It is closer to walking street than I expected but this is my fault for not checking. However, you cannot hear any of the noise from the street.

My biggest issue was the noise from inside. You can hear all the conversations/noise in reception from the private rooms (I guess the dorms too) and you can also hear everything the other guests are up to in the next door room at 2am. I booked based on a recommendation, but only chose to stay when I found a significant discount. The full price is incredibly expensive and I would not have stayed if I had to pay this. Whilst the service and cleanliness are great, I would not stay here again based on the noise and price. You can get similar quality and quieter stays for much cheaper in the city.

I loved this hostel - it's very modern, clean and the staff is exceptional. They prepared my bed early, which was a godsend after a very early morning flight. They also communicated with my via WhatsApp, invited me to community dinner and checked up on me in case I needed recommendations. I don't think you can ask for better, friendlier, more helpful, welcoming staff than the one at The Common Room. I've left with wonderful friendships and excellent memories. It's located on Ho Chi Minh's version of KhaoSan Road and as much as it can get hectic walking through it, it was great for a cheeky night out.

The beds were quite hard! It wasn't a deal breaker and it is also my own personal preference. Besides the community dinners, I wish there was maybe a drinks night instead. Something more casual to meet people and have a little chat.

Ik heb echt genoten van mijn verblijf in the Common Room, waar ik verbleef in 14-persoonskamer. De dame van de receptie was super behulpzaam en voelde als een soort vriendin tijdens mijn verblijf. Het dagelijkse gezamenlijke vegan diner was iedere dag weer heerlijk en erg gezellig met de andere reizigers. De faciliteiten zoals het toilet en de douche waren schoon.

The Common Room is beautifully run. Very clean and great staff and the facilities were all in perfect order.

I expected a little more interaction but I found the dormitories were pretty lonely. And even downstairs in the foyer people were all a bit disconnected. Maybe it was just me, or my age(!) but I yearned for some connection and found it difficult. The shared dinners looked like a great idea. Perhaps some more organised activities would have helped. Of course this isn't up to the accommodation, it's up to us as guests.

Really detailed Hostel, you can see somebody was caring a lot for the design, great beds, nice guest kitchen, very social and still places to chill or have a nap.

They have rules in the hostel which is good but they communicate it to harsh or unnecessary, also for the payment.

Great hostel in Ho Chi Minh City with a perfect location. Everything was clean and new, and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Daisy and Win. Despite being close to the party area, the noise level was pretty low. Great value for what you pay.

Das Personal insgesamt ist unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit!!! Das Zimmer ist effizient eingerichtet und bietet alles, was man braucht. Ein schönes Gemeinschaftskonzept, das genutzt werden kann, aber nicht muss. Die Lage ist sehr zentral und touristisch, ist aber ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt, die Stadt zu erkunden. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

There are so many good things about this hostel, but if I had to narrow it down to just one main thing, it would be the nightly "family dinners," which make it really easy to get to know other people who are staying there without pressure or feeling awkward. I went each of the 3 nights I stayed, and each time, it led to continuing to hang out with some of the people in the group by walking around, going to a bar, etc. And since the hostel is in such a great location, it's smooth to get around to other parts of the city and hang out either by yourself or with others.

Nice location with a welcoming, communal atmosphere. The staff were very helpful, and I really enjoyed the shared activities. The space was clean and trendy, and the communal dinners had excellent food. I stayed in a private room and had a great experience overall.

It's close to the nightclub and bar area, so it's very noisy until 12 or 1 a.m. Although it's not a party hostel, it might be not a good option for sleepless or those with sensitive with noises. But If I visit Ho Chi Minh City again, I might stay here for a weekend getaway when I want to party.
