Its a lovely area and with a long tradition to support traditional music.
I had expected breakfasr but Kitty's across the street was good.
Very welcoming staff and very clean, comfortable room
Perfect location for a Trad session
Great little place, nice little pub below to boot.
They don’t do good which is kind of acceptable but there’s a nice pub up the road that does excellent food so we went there for a meal. They also don’t serve breakfast and the cafe across the road that is supposed to be open was CLOSED at 9.15 on a Monday morning for breakfast so that was a bit of a pain but we went elsewhere for breakfast in the end. That’s not a fault of the pub offering rooms but it’s just something to considered.
Great hospitality and warmth from the hosts - easy access and good parking. Kind welcome from our hosts who were also very approachable and happy to answer questions about the area. The bath water was lovely and hot also great to have a bath (not just a shower). The traditional music session was great fun. We really enjoyed our stay.
The decor is a little ‘tired’ but that wasn’t important to us.
Could have been more cereal and milk
Sometimes I got itchy in the bed.
We visited because of their famous pub. The pub was closed and it was creepy being the only ones there.
They should have disclosed they were shut down.
Everything! The staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and funny (even the pub cat!). The room had a very comfortable bed and great shower/bath and was clean, as well as fresh smelling. There was no problem with noise at all, which is great as our room was above a very well patronised pub below us.
There’s nothing we didn’t like! We were specifically after a place to shower and collapse at night after our daily adventures - somewhere that we could make a coffee and eat a bowl of cereals. Had we wanted a place with a tv and kitchen, we would have booked one.
Nice clean place. Nice village and surrounding area. Not too loud though adjacent to pub. Kettle in room and tea, coffee and biscuits left out😋
No shower gel in bathroom so I used the handwash.
Cracking place and people!
Very comfortable
I loved that it was over a pub. I went to an event nearby and we call came back for a drink. It was very handy. Staff were all friendly and the bed was very comfortable.
I have only one small criticism and that is water pressure in the shower. The water was lovely and warm, it could just use a little more power.
Comfy bed and warm room. You can also adjust the heaters yourself if the room is too hot. Bar staff lovely especially Orla and Jordy. Very helpful. Wee cade across the road was lovely too so give it a try. But the best bit was meeting Hugh. Loveliest man ever. We missed our bus. He helped us make the next connection. Drove us to the ATM and then dropped us at the bus stop. Lovely man with a story or 2 to tell. He was great craic and we were very grateful for his help. Thank you Hugh and hopefully we will see you again. Kat and Aimee from Derry.
Nothing. Great wee place to stay. Full of character.
An experience ! Kindly welcomed by Hugh and the cat, then the room was perfect for one night after a long ride, and the pub just downstairs was great. It opens late, but lovely locals, and stories to share along a few drinks. Hugh was an exceptional host. Not to miss ! Live music Friday and Monday, we’d have stay if we could.
Very cheap and cheerful
If you want luxury this isn't the place for you, but good atmosphere and without frills is perfect.
Staff and owner were nice just wish we were staying on a Friday in order to enjoy the trad music. We chose this location as a base camp to hike Mount Errigal, which worked. Take 15 minutes and drive down to the harbor, it is unique and beautiful.
This is not the area to be staying in October as everything is closed. Finding dinner was a challenge because we wanted something other than takeout. The room was clean but the bed was squeaky.
Enjoy a wonderful traditional music session (Mondays and Fridays) and then just stay in the same building. The rooms are very clean and quiet. The owners are very friendly and chatty. A true Donegal experience!
It's a little dated, but sure it adds to the charme.
Not much. There was hot water.
Bunberg is not a normal village. Just a scattering of houses. Very difficult to find location. Maps in car did not find address. It is a pub which had three drinkers, no food, no music. Very disappointing. Very few eating locations. Room had no heating, no TV. Very poor internet in room. 1 bar on my phone. No bar on wife's phone. Had to put my phone on floor and hotspot to get her internet. No exhaust fan in ensuite. Was expecting a buzzing Irish pub in a traditional Irish village, with food and music. None of that. I will say that there was a major storm going on which may have influenced some aspects. But, bunberg is not a great location. The only nice thing was the small boat Harbour down the road. If your stay in Ireland is limited, give it a miss.
Nice room
No seaview, bar, or music contrary to Booking.com details.
Easy check in, comfortable bed, great pub downstairs featuring live music. There was a cat!
Decor and bathrooms in need of updating. Overall 1990’s vibe.
I chose this property for the traditional Irish music sessions on Friday and Monday nights, and because the owner and many (all?) the staff speak Irish as their first language. Marie (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) was so lovely and gave me a room with a bath, and made up the bed for me ------ she couldn't have been more kind. And, after I mislaid my phone charger, everyone went to enormous trouble to help me ----------- I've never before stayed with such wonderful hosts. The property doesn't serve breakfast but there is a wonderful cafe right across the road and they do wonderful breakfasts - pancakes with blueberries and Greek yogurt, vegan breakfast, delicious scrambled eggs etc You can walk from the pub/ accommodation to Bunbeg church and look for the grave of a soldier accidentally shot by his comrades as he returned from a night out (ask about him in the Croithlí distillery!) and - in the other direction - you can walk along with the sea always visible, and the nearby beach not too far away [I wasn't able to walk down or up the steep hills, but I loved being able to see the sea and the islands.] And the view from my bedroom window was great too, just to be able to see the sea is so energising. I adored the Friday night music and loved trying to speak Irish with the bar staff. I will definitely be back.
I found the bed quite uncomfortable but I don't think it's fair for me to judge beds as I have mobility issues and a banjaxed back so I need a very good mattress and it would be unfair to expect to get the sort of mattress I need in rented accommodation.
nothing
the room was like a prison cell - the basic of basics - one bed one table and two chairs and one wardrobe - threadbare carpet and a musky smell
exactly as described
nothing
No fuss,
The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable
Nothing to dislike there.
Assolutamente nulla
Good location, comfy bed. Instant hot water
No TV. No bedside lamps.
Comfortable and clean
Location and the place alone I love
Nothing
It was clean and tidy but old although I expected that in the area I was going
Awk not much
Friendly staff and highlight of course was amazing pub downstairs with live Irish music.
Lovely stay, great location
Monday trad session downstairs was enjoyable
Mould on bathroom roof. Very old furnishings. Lack of anyone around until Monday evening trad session
Really not what was advertised. Facility is old and thread bare on the stairs. Room was clean enough, but very basic. No toiletries provided as a as far as soap, body wash or shampoo. Advertised as B&B but really only B& no B Room had two cups of instant oatmeal and two Biscoff cookies that were to suffice as “breakfast”
Lack of any kind of food. No breakfast options other than take it or leave it with instant oatmeal
Messi a disposizione caffè solubile, the e porridge confezionato.
Struttura datata, con moquette in camera.
Great location and a fantastic bar with amazing music. Iontach maith ar fad!
It's in a perfect location and we stayed on a Friday night on the August bank Holiday weekend and the music in the bar was excellent and we just had to walk a short distance to our rooms
We needed help to use the key to open the outside door
Great location in the Gaeltacht. The bar was really lively in the evening.
Basic accommodation but perfect for what we needed.
Location was excellent
Live music very loud.
Central
Noisy on a Saturday night
Friendly staff, music session in evening was an experience. Parking very handy, view of Atlantic from bedroom.
Excellent location
Nothing
Central location, close to the beach, lovely sea view. Tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Reception facilities are a bit limited as not manned full time.
I stayed there for a week for a Gaeilge course with Gail Linn and it was really convenient. The location was great. In my opinion the pub is the best pub in Ireland and has by far the best and probably the largest trad session in the country on a Monday night. Really handy being able to walk upstairs after the session. The owner Hugh is really friendly and helpful, and Marie was very helpful in arranging for me to collect the key when I arrived at midnight. She also gave me a call to check when I wanted the room cleaned. If you want to speak some Irish you can speak to Hugh or any of the bar staff. A few other pubs around. A good base to visit Bad Eddie, Gola, Tory, Arranmore, Dunlewy and the Poisoned Glen, the Cruathlaí Distillery, climbing Errigal, and go fishing in the Clady river. I'll definitely be back again. D'fhan mé ansin ar feadh seachtaine chun cúrsa Gaeilge a dhéanamh le Gael Linn and bhí sé an-áisiúil. Bhí an suíomh an-iontach. I mo thuairim is é an Teach Tábhairne is fearr in Éirinn agus is é an seisiún ceoil traidisiúnta ann achan oíche Dé Luain an seisiún is fearr and b'fhéidir is mó sa thír. Tá sé an-áisiúil dul suas staighre tar éis an seisiúin. Tá an úinéir Hugh an-charidiúil agus cabhrach, agus bhí Maire an-chabhrach ag eagrú dom an eochair a bhailiú nuair a tháinig mé ansin ag meán oíche. Ghlaoigh sí orm chomh maith chun ceist a cur orm cathair a bhí uaim an seomra a ghlanadh. Má tá tú ag iarraidh Gaeilge a labhairt, is féidir leat labhairt le hachan duine den fhoireann sa bheár. Tá cúpla teach tábhairne eile sa cheantar. Is ionad maith é chun cuairt a thabhairt ar Bád Eddie, Gabhla, Toraigh, Árainn Mhór, Dún Lúiche, Cró Nimhe, an Drioglann Chroithlí, dul suas An Earagail, agus dul ag iascaireacht sa Chládaigh. Cinnte go mbeadh mé ar ais.
The pub is only open Friday to Sunday for most of the year, except for the summer starting from the 12th July when it is open every day. Hugh explained that it is not viable to open every day all year round and I can understand that. There are other pubs around though, Sean Og's is walking distance and Teach Mici's is not too far up the road. Teach Jack is a bit further about 6km north and Leo's Tavern is about the same distance to the south. So plenty of choices if you are in the quiet season. Níl a teach tábhairne oscailte ach ó Aoine go Luan an chuid is mó den bhliain, seachas an samhraidh nuair a bhíonn sé oscailte gach lá ón dhá lá dhéag de mhí Iúl ar aghaidh. Dúirt Hugh nach bhfuil sé inmharthana a bheith oscailte achan lá i rith na bliana agus tigim é sin. Tá cúpla tithe tábhairne sa cheantar úfach. Is féidir leat dul siúil go teach Seán Óg agus níl teach Mhicí rófhada suas an bóthar. Tá Teach Jack níos faide thart ar 6 chiliméadar agus tá Tábhairne Leo thart ar an fad céanna. Mar sin beidh neart roghanna agat.
Everything was exactly as it was described. The sea view was suberb. The host was accommodating and friendly .
Everything was great
So comfortable beds and lovely staff.
Sheets and towels were nice
Knew would be basic but wanted somewhere with a good traditional pub that we wouldn't have to worry about getting home after few pints. Checked Google before going and said it was open on Tuesdays but the pub was closed the night we stayed. Bed was terribly uncomfortable so got no sleep with the springs sticking up. Called bed and breakfast in description multiple times but no breakfast. Would have went elsewhere if known
Great bed, plenty of hot water and being just above a pub with excellent music, what else does one need? Thanks, Hugh!!
Il riscaldamento spento
The music in the bar was wonderful.
Great bar. Great Music. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. No frills. Great value. Everyone super friendly and food across the road in Caife kitty superb.
Having to leave

Fantastic traditional Irish music session
