​Title: Great camp stay and hospitality, but skip the Bedouin tour ​I had a really good time staying at the Black Sand Camp, though the experience was a bit mixed. ​The Highlights: Everything at the camp itself was fantastic. The tents were comfortable, and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent. A special shoutout goes to the Nigerian manager—his behavior, hospitality, and helpfulness made the stay much better. The camel ride was also perfectly organized and a lot of fun.

The Disappointment: Unfortunately, the Bedouin family tour was a big letdown. I paid 15 OMR expecting a deep, authentic experience where I could properly meet the families, explore the area, and get a genuine look into their daily lifestyle. That didn't happen at all. It lacked the cultural depth I was looking for, and honestly, it felt like a waste of 15 OMR.

This camp is truly exceptional. It is absolutely bang-for-your-buck. Amazing location in a quiet part of the Wahiba Sands. You will see no other developments. Because the area was remote and away from other camps, it was exceptionally dark which made it easy to see thousands of stars. I drove my own 4x4 vehicle and convoyed with other guests and the hotel staff. I was given GPS coordinates to meet the staff and Google Maps was brilliant. No issues at all. I had everything I needed. So much value at this place well-priced compared to some of the other camps in Wahiba Sands. The owner is friendly, helpful, accommodating and wonderful. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

My vehicle got stuck in the sand when leaving but the owner and other guests were able to easily extract me without much of a fuss. And this only added to the wonderful adventure at this well-appointment and charming camp.

Sleeping in the desert is always a magical experience, and staying in the black sand domes made it even more unforgettable. Our stay was made even more memorable thanks to Lenin, a wonderful host and talented cook who took great care of us throughout our visit. His warmth, attention, and delicious meals added a very personal and welcoming touch to the entire experience

The only downside was the “Discover the Desert” excursion. It was one of the most expensive activities offered, and unfortunately the driver did not speak English, which made it difficult to learn or understand anything about the desert and its culture. The experience felt more like a simple car ride to a so called Bedouin house that now seems primarily set up for tourists to purchase souvenirs. It did not feel as authentic as we had hoped. For that reason, I would recommend choosing a different desert experience.

Notre hote a été parfait. Très sympathique et à l'écoute. Il nous a préparé des plats tres bons. Super soirée en sa compagnie au coin du feu. Le dome etait plus grand que ce qui etait indiqué et totalement propre et pratique avec super vue sur le desert.

Black Sands Camp is in the perfect location, away from all the other camps. It was quiet, peaceful and very calming. Lenin, our host, was excellent. He met us at the designated spot then we drove into the camp in our 4x4, which was not very far. We stayed in the dome, which was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The sand boarding down the dunes was extremely fun. We enjoyed a very beautiful sunset sitting on the picturesque dunes. We ordered dinner and breakfast, both which were well prepared, tasty and plentiful. The owner joined us in the evening for the bonfire and was full of interesting stories and information. We had a wonderful time here.

Everything was great. It exceeded our expectations.

Abbiamo alloggiato in una sfera vista deserto provvista di sistema di aereazione, bagno in muratura e tante bottiglie d'acqua a disposizione. Staff molto gentile e sempre disponibile, propone varie attività da poter svolgere durante il soggiorno. Avendo dormito la notte di capodanno, il personale si è adoperato con fuochi d'artificio, per far felici i suoi ospiti, anche se loro non sono soliti festeggiare, sono stati molto carini! Cena e colazione molto buone ed abbondanti, sempre corredate da te e datteri che arrivano direttamente dalla piantagione del proprietario, Salem. La struttura inoltre mette a disposizione (a pagamento) anche un servizio navetta per chi non ha un 4x4.

Il campo è a pochissimi minuti d'auto dal punto d'incontro, appena varcato il deserto, quindi purtroppo non si ha la sensazione di essere "isolati", tanto che prende addirittura il cellulare. Inoltre, avendo solo pannelli solari, non è stato possibile farsi la doccia perchè l'acqua era gelata.

We LOVED it and had the best time. The dome tents are amazing, the food was amazing, the sandboard is so much fun. The camp is great and Lenning was amazing, he took care of everything and made us feel comfortable right away. He is the best!! The stay in this camp was the highlight of our trip

Lenin were an outstanding host. The warmth he welcomed us with were second to none and the stay wouldnt have been as memorable without him.

There was no other camp around and we could enjoy a quiet evening in the middle of the desert. The host Salim was amazing and made us feel like home with a nice dinner and bonfire afterwards!

Mi è piaciuta la tenda, la location, il fatto che non ci siano cammelli vicino (mi fanno tristezza per la vita che fanno), la cena, il sandboarding, il tramonto.

Non si vede fuori di notte, c’è un riflesso sulle finestre ed è quasi come uno specchio. Un po’ troppo costoso rispetto ai campi tendati dell’altro deserto.

The choice of location - not too far from Bidiya but hidden amongst the dunes - provided the expected feeling of being surrounded by the desert. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the dinner in the dunes. The experience of having tea around the fire was unforgettable. Lenin was extremely helpful!

Viel Platz mitten in den Dünen, wunderschönes Gelände mit gemütlichen Zelten und tolle Gastgeber, die uns das Gefühl gegeben haben, ganz besondere Gäste zu sein. Wir können sehr die Ausflüge zum Camel Racing empfehlen und das Dune Bashing, außerdem unbedingt die Dünen im Camp runterfahren (kostenlos). Das Essen schmeckt ausgezeichnet und ist sehr reichhaltig und es stehen immer Wasser, Tee und Kaffee bereit.

The experiences we had there will stay with us forever. The location is magical, with beautiful Black-Yellow sand and a very special atmosphere. From the very first moment, we were welcomed with great warmth by Salem and his staff. Their hospitality felt genuine and made us feel comfortable immediately. We stayed in a tent which was very clean and well maintained. Inside the tent everything smelled fresh, and the bed was very comfortable. The toilets were also extremely clean, which we really appreciated. The entire team’s main focus is the well-being of the guests. Everyone was kind, attentive, and always helpful. The food (Dinner & Breakfast) was absolutely delicious, and the evenings around the fire created a wonderful atmosphere with pleasant conversations and a very relaxed mood. We enjoyed a desert tour deep into the desert, including a visit to the Bedouins and a camel ride. Watching the sunset in the desert was a truly special experience. Our dune drive was led by Hemed, who was an excellent and very professional driver. He drove safely and smoothly over steep dunes, and although I normally feel unwell during such rides, I felt completely comfortable the entire time. What makes this camp even more special is the incredible peace and quiet. You hear nothing at all – neither from inside the camp nor from the surroundings. The nights are calm and magical, with clear stars in the sky, beautiful candlelight, soft lighting, and a truly enchanting atmosphere. We can say with absolute certainty that we will come back again – and next time, we will stay even longer in this wonderful camp. A truly magical place.

Le lit est aussi dur qu’une planche en bois et il y a un plastique autour du matelas qui fait un bruit très désagréable. Dans l’ensemble, le prix est assez cher pour la qualité de la chambre mais c’était le 31 décembre

We stayed in the igloo and it was a fantastic experience in the desert. The team is very nice, the dinner and breakfast is abundant and you feel like being in a luxury hotel in the middle of nowhere. We can definitely recommend Black Sand Camp!

Staying at this desert resort was truly one of my best travel experiences to date. It far exceeded my expectations in every way. The owners, Salim and Lenin, were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. If you are planning a trip to the Omani desert, I highly recommend this camp—I will definitely be returning! The location is peaceful, isolated, and offers a genuine feeling of being out in the wild. One piece of honest advice: arrive with an empty stomach! Between the welcoming coffee, the delicious dinner, and the freshly prepared breakfast, the food is an experience you won’t want to miss.

Stayed for one night in one of the luxury bubbles, it was a wonderful experience. Peaceful (despite being the weekend and a lot of dune bashing going on in other luckily more remote camps) atmosphere in the deserts with ample options for activities. Proper 4x4 and sufficiently lowered tire pressure absolutely a must if you want to drive to the camp yourself (deep sand). What made the stay particularly memorable was the exceptional hospitality and care by Salim, the owner, and Lenin, who is running the camp day by day.

Ho alloggiato nella tenda Dome , che dire uno spettacolo. Il camp è posizionato in una zona molto tranquilla e rilassante. Una vera oasi di pace. Il proprietario gentilissimo e puntuale a venirci a prelevare nel punto di incontro. Al camp ci ha accolto lenin una persona stupenda e molto socievole che ci ha intrattenuto dopo cena davanti al fuoco sorseggiando un buon the. Il camp offre molti servizi, noi abbiamo scelto il dune bushing ed è stata davvero una bella esperienza. Consiglio anche cena e colazione , cibo ottimo e porzioni abbondanti. Non potevo scegliere struttura migliore per la mia notte nel deserto.

Het avondeten en ontbijt waren heel erg goed! De locatie is uitstekend, ideaal verblijf als je rust wilt. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen met een koffie en dadels.

Das Camp und der Aufenthalt dort waren sehr gut organisiert, insbesondere durch den Campleiter Lenny - hierfür einen ganz, ganz lieben Dank.

Die Zusatzkosten! Wir haben zwei Zelte gebucht für ca. 70,00 € in Summe pro Nacht - mit Halbpension wären es ca. 170,00 € geworden ohne vorherige Kenntnis. Da man von der Straße abgeholt und zum Camp gebracht wurde, fielen darüber hinaus noch zusätzlich 15 OMR an (davon hatten wir Kenntnis). Für das Abendessen wurden ursprünglich vom Inhaber des Camps weitere 8 OMR7/Person und 6 OMR/Person fürs Frühstück verlangt. Also noch einmal 42,00 OMR (ca. 100,00 €) zusätzlich. Da dies vorher nicht kommuniziert wurde, war es recht alternativlos. Nach etwas Handeln, waren wir bei einem Preis von 30 OMR für Abendessen und Frühstück - sehr überteuert im Verhältnis zu den normalen Preisen. Das Abendessen war nicht selbst zubereitet, sondern aus einem Restaurant. Die Gewinnspanne war sicher nicht schlecht. Wir empfehlen, alle Kosten vorher auszuhandeln - insbesondere die fürs Essen bzw. sich selbst zu versorgen, um das Erlebnis dort vor Ort richtig genießen zu können.

En dan de locatie en tent prachtig en goed onderhouden. De kok maakte van ons verblijf een perfect geheel met het kampvuur en eten. Een aanrader om naar toe te gaan

Un camp situé dans un désert noir, particulièrement calme. Les chambres et les douches sont très propres. Le dîner est très copieux : il faut vraiment avoir très faim pour le terminer. Le personnel est agréable et très arrangeant. Attention : l’accès au camp se fait de préférence en 4x4. Je recommande ce camp les yeux fermés.

The best camp in the dessert! The stuff is so so friendly and helpful and the location is perfect. No lights from other camps etc in the night and no noise. Only a 5-10 minutes drive trough the sand dunes, 4x4 recommended but they also pick you up on the street and guide you to the camp. Food was very delicious and we also got some tea by the fire :) We talked a lot with the owner and the stuff and everyone was just super nice and heartwarming! The luxury tents are very spacious and the facilities are super good. If you want the more affordable option the tents are also super nice and clean.

Everything was wonderful. It's a wonderful facility in every way. I'm especially grateful to the staff and the owner.

Staying at the Black Sand Camp in the Omani desert was an absolutely unforgettable experience. We booked two nights. The atmosphere of the camp is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by stunning desert landscapes and beautiful silence. The tents were comfortable and clean, and the food was delicious and freshly prepared. A very special thanks goes to Lenin. He is truly a great guy — warm, friendly, and always attentive. He took care of us from the moment we arrived, making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. If you are looking for a unique and authentic desert experience, I can highly recommend the Black Sand Camp.

The dome was definitely a good idea, we regretted that we only took one night! The camp is on the more calm side of the desert, which is cleaner with less lights so you can enjoy the desert better. We were warmly welcomed and received by our host. He prepared coffee when we arrived and we enjoyed doing sand boarding at sunset! The equipment in the dome are also really good, shower a bit cold in the evening but everything else was perfect

Everything was very good, we were alone so it was very peaceful. The staff it’s amazing. Very recommended place to disconnect from the big cities.

The bad thing of the property it’s that to go there you need a 4x4. If you ask to the owner for a ride they will charge you a lot for a 5 min drive through the desert. Just the rides were more expensive than our stay. It was a scam.

Worst experience ever as when we reached the location there was a goat shelter & nobody not a single human being was there. Me & my husband were alone there walking in the dessert, shouting for help. 1 car came & helped us to get out of that dessert or else we would have been in trouble & alone at night in that dessert. Very bad experience we had this & when we called the owner of black sand camp. He said “go back to hotel” without taking any accountability of get us to the camp. He was not supportive & left us in trouble. If money debits from my account i want full compensation or else i will have to take this ahead with consumer court & Oman police.

Absolutely perfect and unique experience, we stayed in the dome which was spacious, clean and looked amazing. All communication and arranging a pick up was smooth. The stuff was helpful, friendly and amazing and they offer many activities/services you can use to enhance your stay. For brave and adventurous I recommend the dune bashing, for food lovers the dinner was out of this world. 11/10!

Host is very very kind, nice, generous and talkative. We had really great time with him talking next to campfire in the middle of silent desert.

We stayed here for my partners 60th Birthday and it was such a memorable experience. Selim the camp owner was so nice and helpful and he organised a special cake for my partners 6Oth Birthday. Lenin was the camp chef and caretaker and he was just adorable. He made the most delicious food and hot tea. We stayed in one of the camping domes and it was so lovely. We kept the curtains open all night and were just looking at the stars from lying in bed. Highly recommend this camp and especially the camping domes.

one night at this desert accommodation in Oman. Overall, the place is very beautiful. I stayed in one of the tents, which was not bad, but some windows were not properly sealed. This made it a bit chilly at night, especially because it was very windy. As a result, I had some trouble sleeping. The host was very kind, and the staff member who also prepared the meals was extremely nice and accommodating. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and came in generous portions—I can definitely recommend the food! Unfortunately, my otherwise positive experience was slightly overshadowed by the behavior of a man who was not a guest but a friend of the host. He repeatedly made jokes about taking another wife and even hinted that I could be one. As a young woman traveling alone, these comments made me feel a bit uncomfortable and less at ease, even though he insisted it was all meant as humor. I want to emphasize that Oman is generally a very safe and respectful country, especially toward women. However, in this particular instance, these remarks made me feel uneasy, which affected my ability to enjoy my stay fully. Overall, the accommodation is lovely, the food is amazing, and the host and staff were wonderful. I hope the management can ensure that all guests feel completely comfortable and safe in the future.

Very quiet and relaxing with lots to do

Activities and meals were quite expensive compared to others. The food is prepared by a restaurant off site. The food is good, Turkish and local option but costly for what you get.

We stayed in a very comfortable igloo tent - it was really like a hotel room. Wonderful dunes around the camp. Tasty, very large dinner, after dinner a bonfire - together with a nice owner and driver of an off-road vehicle (any evening point), local, tasty tea made of mountain herbs, stories about the desert and possible attractions in this part of the country - of course it was our decision to sit with the rest of the people. We also took advantage of a 3-hour 4WD desert trek,, exciting dune descents - we recommend the place and attractions

I had an excellent experience at this property. The hotel was super clean and well-maintained, which made my stay very comfortable. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. On top of that, the price was very reasonable for the quality provided. Overall, it was an outstanding experience, and I would highly recommend it to others!

The only thing I didn’t like was that there was no Wi-Fi available for me, which made it a bit inconvenient since I didn’t have a local SIM card or data in Oman. However, aside from that, everything was excellent. The property was great, and it was an overall wonderful journey for me

The accomodation was clean, modern and in a nice place. Host contact us and help us with check in. It was nice from him.

When we arrived, host just dissapear and in the camp nobody stay. We were there alone. It was bit strange, but ok. We expected some welcoming at least and more that we will have breakfast, cause it was written in information. Thats why was luxury tent a little expensive cause we didnt had food.

The camp is in a wonderful area that is very quiet and secluded, yet not too far away. The firepit sitting was wonderful. The domes and tents were clean, comfortable, and of high standard. Dinner and breakfast were both filling and tasty. Salim and Humaid were extremely gracious hosts. I literally could not ask for anything better! Overall this was an exceptional stay!
