It’s a good location but quite hard to find street parking . Especially since it’s opposite a hostel.
Very spacious room, clean and comfortable. Warm Clean and spacious shower and toilet as well
Nothing
Good. Would have liked Yoghurt
Cold
Nice room
Nothing
Breakfast was included and it was plenty. The host was friendly and helpful.
Bathroom was across the hallway, which means you need to put some clothes on before heading to bathroom even in the middle of the night.
Private, secure and close to town and bus stop.
Good nice friendly host. Big double room.
Private Toilet and bathroom are outside of the room which is a little inconvenience at night
Big room
Private bath across the hall
Everest on High is a charming place to stay while visiting Dunedin. I was there for 6 nights and had everything I needed. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the fridge was loaded with breakfast supplies and there was a toaster, kettle and microwave to use. The house is walking distance to the city centre and to places of interest. The hosts Peter and Kesang live on site and were most welcoming and helpful. Many thanks for a lovely stay in your house.
Beautiful historic home. Excellent value for money.
Owners were lovely but some mixed communication made it just a little awkward at times.
Peter and Kesang made us feel very welcome in their lovely 1927 historical renovated home. A short walk to the city centre
Very cosy and clean in a good location
Great hospitality.
First class accommodation in a house with great character. Very friendly hosts and excellent choice for breakfast. Spacious room and comfortable bed.
There is nothing I can say here; everything was superb.
Breakfast was good. A variety of fruit would have been nice.
The bathroom cupboard was not secured to the wall. This was a hazard.
Nice stay, old worldly house full of character, nice cosy room with Netflix tv, breakfast was cereals, and bread, tea, coffee and milk supplied, definitely recommend 👌

Super well maintained and great options provided for breakfast
Sehr schönes unberührtes historisches Ambiente, super Frühstück inkl. richtigen Kaffee, einfacher Check-in, sehr netter Gastgeber, alles sehr sauber
Very reasonably priced stay and well equipped room in a very old historical house.
I was only informed on the day of arrival that the 'private' bathroom was not en -suite to my room. As I was the only guest, it was however not a problem. The included breakfast comprised cereal, milk (ample) bread butter and jam...no cheese or eggs.
This was a central place to stay that allowed me to explore Dunedin and at the same time enjoy staying in a large old house in keeping with the area and history of Dunedin. Great breakfast, good facilities, novel bath/shower and great host.
Nothing
I loved my stay here. The room is in a grand old dame of a house, beautifully and intricately decorated with wood panelling throughout, and was very spacious and comfortable. I could tell by the level of care and detail that was put into the room, such as the breakfast provided, coffee, fridge, utensils etc., that the owners really go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable and welcome. It was a pleasure meeting with and talking with the hosts, and the bed was particularly comfortable - the electric blanket was more than welcome during my winter-time visit. It is also a short walk away from the centre of town, with a regular bus route nearby just in case it is needed. The standalone bath tub was also really cool! I would very much liked to have stayed longer!
A verry beautiful heritage house well renovated and restored.
The room temperature is not enough high during mid winter when we stayed in August .
Camera fredda e servizi, freddi, fuori dalla camera.
electric blanket on bed, breakfast was good
The bathroom and bedroom were quite cold despite using the heater — only the bed stayed warm, thanks to the electric blanket. Partway through our stay, the older-style toilet flush stopped working properly (possibly due to toilet paper), which made it difficult to use. When we politely raised the issue, the host responded defensively, saying she had “hundreds of guests” and this had “never happened before,” and implied that we might have caused the problem and should resolve it ourselves. This led to a tense exchange, which was frustrating given we were simply trying to report a facility issue. That said, the host eventually agreed to help, and the toilet was fixed.
Time restraints meant I couldn't have breakfast, but from what I saw the room was well stocked with everything needed for an excellent morning feed.
The bathroom was a little cold & echo-ey, but clean & tidy none the less.
We didn't venture much around the heritage building as we arrived late, spent a night and checked out the very next day. The room was really neat & warm with heater, bed has electric blanket and comfy, the continental breakfast included was a bonus. Very happy with our stay at Everest on High.
I'm a really light sleeper so I could hear the road noises at night. The bathroom and toilet across the hall is quite chilly during winter.
Extremely comfortable room.
Nothing
It was a great room, we've stayed before and they are lovely hosts.
Bathroom is a bit cold on the floor more floor mats would be good.
Great spot. Great breakfast. Comfortable room. Love the historical aspect and the social and building history.
I don't eat a big breakfast so the supplies provided were perfect for me. Given the accommodation isn't purpose built I was very surprised and happy with how thoughtfully every need had been accommodated. The renovated parts of the house are beautiful and I'll be keen to see the house again when it has been completed. The location was also perfect, very close to where I needed to be.
Another lamp in the room would have been useful as it was quite dark, especially near the table.
Great space all to myself, easy parking
Great all round. Good location and host. Great stay
I loved the authentic, atmospheric feeling of this historic house, which the owners are gradually restoring to its old splendour. The room is very big and comfortable (there is a heater and electric blankets), and it is possible to use the kitchen to wash the dishes. The bathroom is on the other side of the corridor, but as the owners sleep upstairs, it is still very private space, especially at night. Free parking in front of the house is very easy.
The bathroom is enormous and chilly, especially during the night. The old-fashioned bathtub, which I personally found charming, is very high and could be challenging to get into for people with some mobility problems.
The bed was comfy. Free continental breakfast.
The bathroom and toilet is across the hall where in Booking.com it was mentioned private bathroom.
Charming old house ! Comfortable bed with electric blanket. Room was lovely and cozy.. Cereal and bread/jam for breakfast were in the room. Simple but perfect for us. We were able to leave our luggage at the house while we explored Dunedin. We appreciated that!
I was surprised to find that the bathroom was not en suite. Initially I was concerned about that but it turned out not to be a problem at all. No one else was in that part of the house so it was indeed private! I would stay here again.
A quiet and spacious property with obliging and friendly hosts . Delightful bathroom and comfortable bed-sitting room with a refrigerator! Recommended as a base to visit a most interesting town.
Unusual historical property
The breakfast was delicious and plenty to eat.
Beautiful house. Plenty of food teas and coffee. Great location good heating. Beautiful bathroom
Beautiful accommodation!
Great location, walking distance to town, comfy bed and the hosts were lovely. Fantastic grand house. Continental breakfast was a bonus.
Gorgeous Heritage features

Lovely old homestead. The location was perfect for my needs. I was catching a bus to Christchurch in the morning and the bus stop to get to the depot was a very short walk up the road. The breakfast was conveniently located in the fridge of my bedroom. All in all, the stay met my needs.
There was no one at the premises when I arrived. He had not arrived by the time I went out for dinner. Fortunately I had saved the number on my phone and the owner directed me up the outside stairs to a door where I keyed in the code he gave me to enter. I then carried my bag down the inside stairs to the other side of the front door. Had I known, I would have left my bag outside the front door and collected it once I had found my room. My private bathroom was across the corridor by the front door.
Clean, comfortable, lovely touch with breakfast
Some road noise
Excellent Breakfast and helpful host.
Nice house. Owner was very helpful and responsive
Bathroom & toilet are outside the room
Room was spacious and neat. Peter was a gracious l, helpful and great host.

Great heritage house in interesting area. Nice big room with character features. Friendly host.
Nothing I didn't like.
We are so glad we found this Dunedin gem - we just had the comfiest stay at Everest on High. It's a beautiful heritage property in an excellent location with free street parking just outside (most parking in Dunedin city centre is paid!). We enjoyed being able to walk into town easily. Peter was a welcoming host and made sure we had everything we needed. The room is spacious and feels more like a self-contained studio, with everything we needed from heating, a sofa, TV, fridge, microwave, yummy coffee and a continental breakfast all included. There's a private guest bathroom just across the hall. The house has an interesting history which is included in the information booklet. Highly recommend, would stay again
Loved the history of the place, modernised but still kept aspects of the original building. Will recommend to others visiting Dunedin

All good.
Lovely older house. Full of character and Peter was a gentleman.

Good sized comfortable room. Good location despite being on a busy road the noise wasn’t a problem. Clean and tidy. Nice simple breakfast.
