Die Aussicht von der oberen Terrasse war einfach nur toll. Das Zimmer war geräumig und sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Besonders hat uns der Vermieter zu jeder Zeit unterstützt und alles arrangiert. Es war eine tolle Zeit und Erfahrung.

Sehr steiler Aufstieg zur Unterkunft. Es ist kein Nachteil aber man muss es wissen. Diese Unterkunft ist nicht für Rollstuhlfahrer geeignet.

La chambre était était grande et confortable. Salle de bain bien équipé et une vue exceptionnelle sur la vallée de Ella (Little Adam’s peak and Ella Rock). Les petits déjeuner étaient très bon copieux et variés. Les plats du soir sont tout aussi bon. Le service proposé de tuk tuk est parfait pour visiter l’ensemble des différents site autour de Ella et moins chère que ceux en ville. Le service de Laundry est efficace et rapide.

Everything was incredible. The view is beautiful. The room is clean and nice furnishings. The breakfast was delicious every morning. The family were so kind and helpful. The WiFi worked well. This is such a great place to stay.

Quelle vue incroyable! Nous avions prévu de ne passer qu’une nuit à Ella, mais avec cette chambre, cette vue et cet accueil, difficile de résister à l’envie d’en réserver une deuxième. C’est magnifique ! Mahesh et sa famille sont très gentils et serviables.La localisation est parfaite car c’est excentré donc on évite le bruit et l’émulsion de la ville, mais nous sommes à la fois très proche à pied (15mn environ en descente, un peu plus long et difficile en montée 😅). Le petit déjeuner est très très bon, merci beaucoup Mahesh ! On ne voulait plus repartir !

Fantastic location, enjoyed having breakfast looking out onto the best view in Ella. Great facilities and friendly family members were on hand to help or offer advice about onward travel. Mahesh kindly gave me a lift to the accommodation in his tuktuk.

There was nothing I did not like. Just that I only had time to stay 2 nights.

The owner was very hospitable and knowledgeable about the area. We also ordered homemade dinner which was excellent so as the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. The room was spacious and there is a private terrace to watch the stars at night.

With the view like this expect it to be located on the appropriately steep hill and the access may be challenging for some.

We stayed 4 nights here in Helly mount inn, and didn’t want to leave! The owner and his family were wonderful, kind people. They brought us a lovely breakfast every morning with a large variety of food - all very delicious 😋 We also used their tuktuk, laundry and scooter rental service which were all a good price. The owner was also very helpful in arranging activities for us and recommending the best spots in Ella. We found the location perfect for us - just a five minute tuktuk ride outside of the main town with several restaurants within walking distance. However, the highlight of our stay was definitely waking up to an incredible view of the mountains from our private terrace - we will miss it a lot!

Nie wiedzieliśmy ze czeka nas piesze podejście około 50-100m w gore ale bylo ono warte tego widoku ktory zobaczyliśmy z tarasu. Zatem minus przemienia sie w bardzo duzy plus. Niech nikogo nie przeraża kilka metrów w górę.

It's at the top of a very steep road and there are better and easier to get to places. Not worth the hike.

Hervorzuheben an dieser Unterkunft ist vorallem die Gastfreundschaft der Familie. Super liebe Menschen, die sich sehr viel Mühe geben, jedem Gast einen wundervollen Aufenthalt zu bereiten. Mahesh hat uns zu einem fairen Preis an viele Orte mit seinem TukTuk gefahren und uns viel gezeigt. Das Frühstück morgens bei dieser atemberaubenden Aussicht zu genießen war ein weiteres Highlight. Man konnte einen Wasserfall und diverse Tiere wie beispielsweise Afgen beobachten und einfach die Ruhe und Idylle genießen.

Zur Unterkunft führt ein steiler Weg, den man zu Fuß bewältigen muss - dafür wird man aber dieser atemberaubenden Aussicht belohnt. Das Bett war etwas hart, was uns teilweise nicht gut schlafen ließ und das Zimmer ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Ich kann diese Unterkunft vorallem für diesen Preis trotzdem weiterempfehlen :)

Wunderschöne Unterkunft mit ganz tollem Blick von der Terrasse. Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war auch sehr lecker. Die Unterkunft liegt etwas weiter oben am Berg und das letzte Stück muss man laufen, war aber kein Problem :) Wir haben einen Roller gemietet, das hat sich sehr gelohnt!

Die Aussicht von Balkon und Frühstücksterasse war wunderschön. Das Frühstück war reichlich und lecker. Die Lage war außerhalb des Ortes und dennoch zu Fuß gut zu bewältigen.

Die Ausstattung ist in die Jahre gekommen, aber ok.

This has been my favourite accommodation in Sri Lanka by far! The family are absolutely lovely and so helpful, the food is delicious, there is lots of space, it’s an easy walk into Ella, and the views are amazing! Thank you so much :)

It is such a nice experience to stay here. The family is so lovely and helpful. Tey provide amazing breakfast, complimenting tea, arranged a tuktuk for us. The room is clean and everything is thought of; international charging plug, aircon, hairdryer. And it has the best view on the private terrace. Really recommend this accommodation!

Manesh è stato sempre presente e di aiuto durante tutto il mio viaggio in Sri Lanka, aiutandomi nell'organizzazione del tour e degli spostamenti. La struttura è semplice ma c'è quanto basta per un soggiorno rilassante. Si trova a cinque minuti di tuk tuk dal centro di Ella.

因为酒店在山上，上去的路有一点难，尤其是在夜里。不过这可能也是好风景需要付出的对价。

Location, you need to climb up tuktuk not going if you scare of the dogs its not for you. In the night with dogs was a little bit scary but nothing hurt us we ended the stay safely :)

El personal es muy amable y las vistas del lugar son muy bonitas, especialmente porque puedes ver el amanecer desde el balcón. El desayuno es abundante y también tienen servicio de lavandería (con pago extra) En cuanto a la limpieza, todo es muy limpio!

En Ella el servicio con los tuk tuk es complicado ya que es caro, al alojamiento hay que llegar con tuk tuk (el alojamiento también ofrece el servicio a un precio razonable), aún así la distancia del centro de la ciudad se compensa bastante bien con las vistas y la tranquilidad que ofrece el alojamiento.

A simple, no-frills homestay that matches what’s shown in the photos and offers good value for money. Mahesh, the host, was friendly and easy to communicate with throughout my stay. One of the highlights was enjoying breakfast with a beautiful view over the valley—a perfect way to start the day. The property is located about a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride uphill from the city centre, making it a very peaceful and relaxing retreat. As an alternative to PickMe, the host’s father offers tuk-tuk rides.

Do note that the final walk up to the homestay is quite steep and may be challenging for less mobile guests. The curtains are fairly light, so guests who are sensitive to early morning light may want to bring an eye mask.

Amazing views, delicious dinner at a reasonable price, one of the best I have tasted in Sri Lanka. Big spacious room as with the bathroom, comfy bed with a bed net and fan. Lovely balcony with outdoor dining sitting area. Teas coffee making facilities. Lovely kind host as with his family, made me feel very welcome, drove me to the Pekoe trail twice for addition cost. Host will pick you up from Main Street, otherwise other tuk tuk driver may not find homestay. A lovely tranquil place to stay away from busy Ella noise, listening to the sounds of birds having breakfast overlooking stunning views.

A little far from Ella Main Street, but host has tuk tuk. Tea/coffee/sugar would have been nice, perhaps overlooked.

Nur zu empfehlen. Die Familie ist so so lieb und macht alles möglich. Über sie kann man auch immer problemlos ein TukTuk buchen und Ella erkunden. Das Frühstück war auch super und die Aussicht von der Unterkunft aus atemberaubend! Wir konnten jeden Morgen den Sonnenaufgang anschauen da sie Richtung Osten ausgerichtet ist. Das heißt, dass man auch Nachmittags super auf der Terrasse entspannen konnte und nicht zu viel Sonne abbekommen hat. Die Unterkunft ist eine 10/10 und ich würde jedes Mal wieder hier buchen. Danke für die schöne Zeit! 😊

Die Aussicht war wirklich ein absolutes Highlight unseres Aufenthalts – besonders beim Frühstück. Morgens mit so einem wunderschönen Blick aufzuwachen, hat jeden Tag besonders gemacht. Mahesh war außerdem unglaublich nett und hilfsbereit. Er hat sich jederzeit darum gekümmert, dass es uns an nichts fehlt, und war immer für uns da. Sogar nach unserem Aufenthalt hat er uns noch unterstützt, was wir sehr geschätzt haben.

L’accueil a été parfait de A à Z ! La chambre est grande et bien équipée ! Toute la famille a veillé à ce que nous passions un excellent séjour : la nourriture est excellente , le service de Tuk Tuk est génial. Nous avons adoré notre séjour ! Nous recommandons à 200% ! Merci infiniment pour tout !

Sehr schönes kleines Gästehaus. Die Familie vermietet vier Zimmer. Die Größe und Ausstattung der Zimmer hat uns positiv überrascht. Wir haben immer wieder verlängert und dadurch in zwei verschiedenen Zimmern geschlafen. Die Aussicht ist in allen Zimmern sehr schön. Die "oberen" Zimmer überblicken zwar besser das Tal, aber von den beiden anderen sieht man mehr vom Dschungel und wie haben bei einer Tasse Tee Stunden den Vögeln und Affen zugeschaut. Die Familie ist sehr hilfsbereit, sobald sie uns Nachmittags zurückkommen sahen, wurde uns Tee angeboten. Zimmer: sehr bequeme Betten, Moskitonetz, Wasserkocher, Ablage, Kleiderständer... Einfach aber effizient und flächenmäßig eines der größten Zimmer die wir bisher hatten, dazu einen privaten Balkon mit super Aussicht. Ja es ist feucht, aber das liegt einfach an der Gegend. Wer sich um seine Frisur sorgt, ist generell im Hochland fehl am Platz. (Wir haben das als Gastbeschwerde erlebt...). WLAN hat super funktioniert. Frühstück: Abwechslungsreiche lokale Gerichte, einfacher Tütenkaffee und Tee, dazu immer frisches Obst. Das Frühstück wird zur Wunschuhrzeit direkt auf den eigenen Balkon gebracht. Abendessen: die Dame des Hauses kocht Hausmannskost, auf Wunsch auch vegetarisch. Sehr zu Empfehlen auch preislich. Es gibt aber in der Nähe auch ein paar guter Restaurants und kleinere Obststände und Gemischtwarenläden. Einziger kleiner Nachteil: die Unterkunft ist nicht für mobilitätseingeschränkte Menschen gemacht. Das TukTuk kann nur bis unten an die Straße, dann muß man laufen (der Weg ist nicht der beste, aber Nachts beleuchtet). Mit dem Gepäck ist die Familie gerne behilflich, aber Rucksäcke sind def. hier praktischer. (Einfach per WhatsApp die Abreisezeit klären). Wir sind jeden Tag in Richtung Stadt gelaufen, kein Problem, ist halt ein kleines Sportprogramm. Fazit: wer nicht direkt in das touristische Ella will, etwas Natur und Ruhe sucht und nicht ganz schlecht zu Fuß ist, ist hier genau richtig.

Este alojamiento superó mis expectativas. La habitación estaba genial, todo muy limpio y el balcón tiene unas vistas increíbles. La familia que lleva este hotel son las mejores personas que he conocido en el viaje, te ayudan absolutamente en todo y son super atentos. Los desayunos y cenas estaban buenísimos. Sin duda cuando vuelva a Sri Lanka vendré aquí.

Lo único que puede incomodar podría ser el camino empinado de tierra que hay para subir pero la verdad que a mi no me importó porque compensa todo lo demás.

La struttura si trova in alto rispetto al centro città, ed è stato meglio così per fuggire al caos dei turisti di Ella, veramente troppi. Io viaggiavo da sola e nonostante la sera ci fosse questa strada nel boschetto al buio non ho mai avuto paura :) Mahesh e la sua famiglia sono stati molto gentili, non parlano benissimo inglese ma mi hanno sempre aiutato in tutto, ho fatto anche il tour con Mahesh ed è stato molto simpatico! Il punto forte della guesthouse è sicuramente la vista! Vedere l’alba la mattina circondata dalle scimmie (che rompono!!), scoiattoli e uccellini è stato meraviglioso!!

Our stay at Helly Mount Inn was absolutely amazing and truly unforgettable. The host is one of the best we’ve ever met – incredibly kind, helpful, and always going the extra mile. He helped us organize tours, gave great local tips, and made us feel at home from the first moment. The breakfast was outstanding – fresh, delicious, and prepared with care every morning. Waking up to that food and the most incredible panoramic view is something we will never forget. The location is magical: peaceful, surrounded by nature, and yes… monkeys everywhere! Watching them around the property was such a unique and fun experience and made the stay even more special. The room was comfortable, clean, and perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. If you’re looking for an authentic place with stunning views, amazing food, and a host who truly cares about his guests, this is the place to stay. Highly, highly recommended – we would come back in a heartbeat!

I had a wonderfull stay. Mahesh and his family made for a very welcoming stay. The sight from the room is absolutely stunning with monkeys and chipmonks nearby and the breakfast was tasty every day.

The view was absolutely stunning but that also means it is a bit of a walk up from the road. A small thing if you’re young but I can see it being difficult if you are elderly or if you have mobility issues.

Superbe accueil. Nous avons été récupéré en Tuk-tuk à la gare de Ella. Le lendemain Mahesh nous a fait visiter les points d’intérêt de Ella, en nous attendant à chaque fois. Il nous également arrangé un taxi pour Arugam Bay. Je recommande les yeux fermés, la vue est a coupé de souffle, pour un prix vraiment intéressant !

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt im Helly Mount Inn in Ella. Die Aussicht ist einfach traumhaft, man kann stundenlang hinausschauen und die Natur genießen. Sowohl das Frühstück als auch das Abendessen waren unglaublich lecker, frisch zubereitet und mit viel Liebe serviert. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die herzliche Gastfreundschaft: Die Gastgeber sind unglaublich freundlich und aufmerksam, sodass man sich sofort wie zu Hause fühlt. Ein perfekter Ort zum Entspannen und Genießen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Ausflug Tucktuck 1 Tag wir haben alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gesehen, war so ein toller Tag. Besitzer war so freundlich und hat uns immer bei allem geholfen und uns auch immer abgeholt und uns gute Tipps gegeben. Man fühlt sich bei seiner Familie sehr wilkommen und wohl. Essen war auch immer sehr gut. Der Ausblick von unserem Zimmer war auch mega schön

Bardzo pomocny i miły właściciel oraz jego rodzina. Bardzo dobrze troszczą się o gości o każdej porze i łatwo jest się skontaktować przez whatsapp. Rodzina posiada tuk tuk i auto przez co istnieje możliwość dodatkowych wycieczek. Jedzenie było dobre. Piękny widok z tarasiku (można zaobserwować zwierzęta). Dobre wi-fi. Był wiatrak i moskitiera.

Brak możliwości korzystania z ciepłej wody z uwagi na bardzo nieprzyjemny zapach i niskie ciśnienie. Z zimną wodą nie było problemu. Ściany wymagają odświeżenia.

I loved my stay at helly mount inn. The host and his family were so kind and made my stay so special. He gave me the whole tour of Ella on his tuktuk, even spent time walking around with me explaining and teaching me about everything. Breakfast was the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka! I also have to mention the view from the room, it’s so beautiful and sunrise each morning was the best. I hope to come back and stay again some time ☺️

The helly mount inn brings you directly into the jungle of ella mountains, it has one of the best views i’ve ever seen in sri lanka , also the sunrise is amazing you can enjoy it while monkeys cross path trough the trees , and just because of that i knew i made the right choice to come here, the room is clean , the bed is nice , it also had boiler for tea, the bathroom has everything you need. The terrace with the breakfast are amazing. And mahesh (host) is a great guy , he arranged us a whole Tour of a day to all the attraction close to ella , from monastery to the waterfalls , nine arches bridge etc. He also did all of these with us without taking a little break or a sip of water ( very impressing)😂 ! He can also be your personal tuktuk through the stay at ella at a cheaper price usually found in ella. I really recommend it.

Maybe the path to reach the room was something unexpected but after the first time you get used to it. is actually nice to go trough the nature. In case you don’t like to do it by yourself, the host has always been available to come and pick us up from the start to finish so was never an issue. The hot water in the bathroom does not last long but it is not an issue if you don’t get long showers.

De locatie is prachtig! Hoog op een berg waardoor je ‘s ochtends een perfect uitzicht hebt op de zonsopkomst. De eigenaar is vriendelijk. Kon ons met zijn Tuktuk naar verschillende plekken brengen. De slaapkamer en badkamer zijn groot. Het ontbijt was erg lekker.

In de slaapkamer en badkamer zit schimmel op de wanden en de plafonds.

We had a truly wonderful time at Helly Mount Inn. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed – in the afternoon, we were even served tea, coffee, and cookies, which was such a lovely and thoughtful gesture. 🫖🍪 The owner and his family took care of us with so much kindness and attention. We instantly felt at home. He gave us plenty of helpful tips on what to do in Ella, even sending pictures and recommendations to make sure we didn’t miss anything. Whether we needed transport, activity suggestions, or local insights, he was always available and genuinely caring. The place itself was very clean, peaceful, and had a great view. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying here – it was one of our best experiences in Sri Lanka. ❤️ Thank you so much for everything!

Pasamos una estancia maravillosa en este alojamiento en plena montaña. El entorno es precioso, rodeado de naturaleza y con unas vistas que invitan a desconectar por completo. Pero sin duda lo mejor fue la familia que lo gestiona: gente humilde, muy amable, siempre dispuesta a ayudar en todo lo que necesitáramos. Nos hicieron sentir como en casa desde el primer momento. Una experiencia muy auténtica y humana que recordaremos con mucho cariño. ¡Gracias por todo!

Gospodarz bardzo uprzejmy, miły i pomocny. Zorganizował nam wycieczkę swoim tuktukiem na plantacje herbaty i najważniejsze punkty na Sri lance. Pokój czysty, łóżko wygodne, wiatrak dostępny w pokoju wraz z czajnikiem. Niesamowity widok z prywatnego balkonu na którym również było serwowane śniadanie. Polecamy każdemu. In the room, there was a smell of mold. The bathroom was really big. The location wasn’t so good, not so beautifull view like in another accomodation in Ella. But owner is a good person, very friendly and kind, he brought tea for us when we came and also when we arrived from trip. He woke up early in the morning about 3am to go with us down to the street because we had transfer to Yala for the next day. Thank you.

Such a beautiful place to wake up. The sun streams in and you can watch the sunrise from your room. The mosquito net covers the bed properly, the fan is good to keep you cool and the room feels super private. However, it's the hospitality that secures this place top marks. They were willing to do anything to help or accommodate us! Picked us up from the bus stop, brought us tea whenever we got home and brekky was delicious every day. The homestay is about a 20 min walk from town up a hill but it's easy to do and gives it the most amazing view.

Everything was amazing! This was the best family to stay so far. That was the most delicious breakfast which we had! Stunning view, we could see waterfall from a balcony. Also in the morning, we spotted few monkeys and wild deer! Super helpful and caring family. We want to give huge thanks for everything they did for us! If we are ever back to Ella, we will definitely be back and recommend everyone to stay with them. We also took a tour around Ella with them and visited waterfalls, view points, nine arch bridge and temple. 1000/10 Just simple the best! Spacious room, fan, hair drying everything was as described.

If you are looking for a great view, delicious breakfast, the comfiest bed to sleep on then you’ll find it at this beautiful mountain-side oasis. Mahesh couldn’t have made things easier with helping ease of pickups and drop offs thanks to his easygoing, professional manner. You’ll be well looked after with Mahesh’s excellent service. I took the tuktuk tour and that was definitely worth it for what we got to see and do in the day (9 Arches with morning train, Little Adam’s Peak, Ravena Cave and Waterfall, finishing off with a sweet dip at Pallewela Waterfalls which was my favourite.

For the time I stayed, 2 days, it was perfect. Recommended to travellers looking for a bit of quiet and relaxation away from the town centre.

The view from the room is very nice.

The view is amazing. Mahesh and his dad are very hard working and will do their best to make sure you have a good time. The room is quite large. You can enjoy perfect seclusion.

There is a bit of an uphill path to the accommodation which can be challenging for some.

Highly recommend Helly Mount Inn as your accommodation while in Ella. The family were SO hospitable, kind, caring and helped us every step of our stay (including our departure and onwards travels). Be prepared for a walk up a hill to get there...which is so worth it for the spectacular views. Breakfast was delicious eachorninf and we were generously offered teas and coffees throughout our days while there 🙂

This property is such a hidden gem and exceptional value for money!!! It’s nestled up on the mountain away from the carnage of Ella city. The view is breathtaking and the family are so so kind. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and we had everything we needed. Staying here was such a privilege. Having breakfast every morning looking over the mountains was just incredible.

There were a couple problems with the WiFi but they were soon fixed! The family was very helpful with this. There was also a little mould in the room but it wasn’t a major problem for us.

Beautiful views and great place providing excellent value for money. Struggle if you have lots of luggage as it’s a steep walk up hill about 15/20 minutes but worth it for the price and views

We loved our stay here ! The view was beautiful, we got up early to watch the sunrise and it didn’t disappoint. We could also see a waterfall from our balcony. The accomodation was a 10min tuk tuk up the mountain to accommodation for the Main Street. It is a steep short walk up the mountain from the driveway to the room, but it is well worth it for the view The hosts were welcoming and breakfast was delicious.. We Highly recommend staying here

Good view on sunset. It is really hard way to go there from main road. The way is narrow and hard. Hard to find it but there is second way to go there. By really steep stairs but when you trawek with nagości it’s better to choice that one

Great communication before and during my stay. Stunning views and wonderful breakfast. Had an amazing homemade dinner (extra cost but very reasonable). Great Value and lovely friendly family.

Not a negative, but the accommodation is a 25 min walk uphill from the town centre. As per other reviews, the last part is up a rough track with little lighting, awkward if not travelling with a backpack. The Dad has a tuktuk if you don't fancy the walk, and others available in town

Very lovely place, away from the crowd and noise of Ella with an amazing view over the jungle. We saw giant squirrels and monkeys while having breakfast. The hosts are very lovely and going the extra mile to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible. The room and bathroom are big and clean, with a good mosquito net, and a hot shower.

The location away from the crowd means it is quite far from Ella Center, in a steep area so not easy to walk around. We liked it but it is worth noting some tuktuk transfers will be required.

Abosutlely lovely family. Amazing and big breakfast. Clean room! Amazing amazing views. Good restaurants 10 minute walk away, town 20 minute walk away.

Just to note- nothing against the property. It’s up a big hill so maybe not the best if you have a suitcase (eventhough the owner was lovely and took it down for us!) If you have backpacks it would be brilliant. Watch out for the leechs going upto the hill!
