Dora's Comfortable Homestay in Hamilton

The master suite was fabulous.

The small green room. A really strident color and hard to relax there, lighting really bright and same difficulty relaxing, and it would be lovely to have some sort of reading light in there.

Located just outside Hamilton city centre, this homestay is perfect if you want to be in a quiet area with walks along the river. The hosts are very accommodating regarding arrival and departure and all the essentials are provided on site to ensure you have a very convenient stay (towels, access to the kitchen, Wifi...). I would recommend it!

I think there should have been a smoke alarm in the room...I did not see one.

Good location for our trip. Bed was comfortable.

No top sheet on the bed, which is not normal in NZ accommodation. The hand towel was not fresh. Should have provided separate hand towels. Bath mat was inadequate. The decor could do with updating, and they have very light drapes on single glazed windows

The WIFI signal didn't reach the whole room. A WIFI extender would be great to solve this.

Everybody in the family was nice and friendly, also the kids. - The bed was good and the room was clean. It was quiet at night, so I had a really good sleep! - Communication beforehand and check-in were easy.

Important: This refers to the single room. I saw the double room with bathroom. That room is very nice and if I had stayed there, my rating would be better!! - The single room is very, very small. It is not 8m² as advertised, but only almost 6 - and that is a big difference! The pictures that are in the ad now, show it realistically. - The window faces the veranda, so people often walk past or stand right in front of it. So with the curtain open you have no privacy and with the curtain closed it gets quite claustrophobic. - The common kitchen, living room and bathroom are the "normal" ones of the (medium sized) family and, of course, they also look like that with regard to cleanness and tidiness. - You can use the kitchen and living room, but I would never have done that. It is simply awkward to be the only stranger in the kitchen of a family that you don't understand because they speak (presumably) Chinese. There is also nothing that invites to sit/stay there - so you can't really spend time outside your room. - The written communication and the check-in were easy, but the communication on site wasn't (due to the Language barrier). - The house is quite clean, but not tidy and a bit chaotic.

The room had everything we needed, really great value for money. We will absolutely be back in the future as I am through for work often. I even left behind a couple of things that they are happy to hold on to for when we come back!

The homestay was not very comfortable. The kitchen and dishes were not adequately clean.

Room was comfy, bed felt fine. Low cost for a decent place to rest your head. My car was safe and I didn't worry about any issues.

Lack of air conditioning. The room was a little warm until the sun set.

There is a turntable and interesting music collection, a nice surprise. Nice neighborhood.

The shower was really mouldy and dirty and the entrance was connected with the main house and it was a little bit noisy as well and felt like we didn’t have much privacy for ourselves after a long day

found ourselves short of accommodation...found Doras..they had a room...its was brilliant..had a music theme going on...had everything for a comfy nights rest.

was a little hard to find...Google maps and I are in seriously dysfunctional relationship atm...but clearer signage at the gate would help immensely...

The complimentary tea and hygiene products were such a lovely gesture. The family was friendly and kept to themselves. Check in process was very easy and quick. Parking right out front of the house was great. Cherry provided very clear directions to the house.

It was inconvenient to have the sink in a separate room from the toilet, especially when many others are using the same washroom.

The location was peaceful, beautiful flowers outside the house, friendly hosts. Though there were children the quiet hours were respected and I did sleep soundly from 10p onward. I appreciated the opportunity to stay.

I didn't read the description well and didn't realize I would be staying in a family's home. They were very friendly but for me it felt a little strange to be in someone's kitchen- I felt I was intruding. I think their hosting setup would be better for a boarder, not someone staying a night or two when passing through town.

The room was private and had its own bathroom, kettle, toaster. It was as comfortable as a hotel room and half the price. The gentleman carried my suitcase to the car when I left. There was a lazy boy chair and a desk with an office chair. Plenty of power points. A firm but comfortable mattress.

Perfect for our needs, breaking our trip between Waitomo glow worm caves and the next day onto Hobbiton/Rotorua. Private bathroom was great, including shower gel/shampoo/conditioner. It's not fancy but has everything you could need including a TV (which we didn't actually end up using as we went to sleep) - certainly a nicer option than a hostel for a couple travelling together. The bed is ok in terms of comfort - certainly had a solid sleep. Definitely value for money. Parking is easy (on driveway), and it was a short drive to town. Would stay again if we were doing a similar trip. Thanks for having us!

Such a lovely house and really nice room! I was sick so I pretty much just arrived and went to bed but it was the perfect place to rest and recover. I loved that the bed had a heated blanket and they left out a room heater too. It was such a comfortable stay and I would definitely return! Thank you Cherry!

Size of room and bed, I'm not used to staying in a house with someone family and kids, so that was quite weird hearing some kid yelling around for a bit when I got there in the evening. But was quiet during the "quiet hours"

It was a selfcontained room with own bathroom in share house. The people were nice and it was a comfy stay. Quaint , but had everything you needed for a stopover .

I understand it might be difficult to keep everything in the kitchen clean when it's a shared kitchen, but it was a bit too unclean for our comfort. Otherwise it would have been perfect !

Cherry and her family were so welcoming that it felt like I was staying with family. Cherry, especially, made my trip in Hamilton one of the most memorable trips I've had in the recent years! I'm glad I got to celebrate Matariki with her family, and that I got to share meals at her table. If I ever return to Hamilton, I'll be sure to book at this property again! Thank you for having me!

Had all the amenities plus more. Hotels hardly provide anything without charging you & this had the comfort of staying at a family's house or even your own home while feeling so welcome. They were so accommodating to me being 15 minutes earlier then I said I would be which I really appreciated & just so felt very welcome & rested very well after a busy work weekend.

Towels were provided but no face cloths which the host quickly & happily provided when I asked. I forgot to bring myself which i usually do. Super small feedback. Everything was literally perfect. Just feedback :D

The room was comfortable.

There was some yelling by a young girl and then thumping up the hallway in the evening. It was a bit disturbing. Please give the poor guinea pig some nice straw or something to sleep on. Food and water. Maybe some sunshine and grass rather than inside in a plastic box.

Host was welcoming. Room and ensuite very clean, well set up. Bed was comfortable and warm.

This is a small thing: there wasn't a rubbish bin in the room or ensuite bathroom. Was happy to take my rubbish with me but I do recommend to at least have a small receptacle for waste.
