Daresh home stay

Wij hebben 4 dagen in Maskeliya doorgebracht bij Derersh Home Stay en hebben daar een uitstekende tijd gehad. Super lekker gegeten zowel ontbijt als avondeten. De gastheer, vrouw en kinderen zijn heel gastvrij en behulpzaam. Een klein balcon van waar je heerlijk in het groen kijkt met een kabbelend riviertje. De omgeving is prachtig met al die theeplantages. Verder in de omgeving kun je: wandelen, de Gartmore Falls bezoeken, Adem's Peak beklimmen, thee fabrieken en de oude hidoe tempel bezoeken De plaats Maskeliya biedt geen luxe maar wel levendigheid, waar heel aardige mensen wonen.

Хозяин нас встретил, прибывших поздно, предложил чая или кофе. Завтрак шикарный нас ждал, как вернулись с пика Адама, уставшими и мокрыми.

* Everything was in excellent condition * Host provided meals at very reasonable prices, and we even got a welcome drink

* Roadside parking (given the location, possibly cannot be improved much) * Room lighting layout could be improved (be able to have a room light without flooding the bed area)

This has been one of my favourite stays in Sri Lanka. Daresh and his family were such warm hosts and helped me with transfers for my Sri Pada visit and plans for my onward travel. Maskeliya is a small but pretty town and a good jump off point for Sri Pada. The rooms so clean and comfortable in a tranquil little spot. Best water pressure I’ve had so far and the home cooked breakfast and dinner were superb. Best Dahl I’ve had in Sri Lanka so far! Thank you again for your attentive hospitality and lovely stay!

Nothing all was fantastic

This is such a lovely place! It's less than 10 minutes walking from the bus station, but the passes close to the accommodation and it's easy to catch them. It's located next to tea plantations and a small river, the sounds of running water and birds with the nice view was very relaxing! Room and bathroom were big, clean, and comfortable, and the food was amazing (I also asked for dinner). The hosts are so nice and kind, they gave me tips, helped with the bus timings, and always made sure I was ok! It's a good spot for Gartmore Falls and Adam's Peak, too! If I didn't have to go on with my itinerary, I would have stayed longer just to relax and walk around the tea plantation, highly recommend!

Lovely place with lovely sounds in evening and morning. Put me to sleep and woke me up so peacefully. Deva and his family are mega welcoming. The breakfast will keep you full for the whole day.

Wir hatten eine super Zeit bei der Familie! Das Zimmer war gut ausgestattet, gross, sauber und hatte einen schönen Balkon. Der Blick geht direkt ins Grüne. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen waren ausgezeichnet 😍! Die Familie war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich - wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Vom Dorf aus kann man mit dem Bus zum Gartmore Wasserfall oder natürlich zum Adam‘s Peak. Wir können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen!

Die Kissen könnten mal ausgewechselt werden.

Familien var virkelig venlig og hjælpsom. De lavede dejlig aftensmad til os. Sønnen tog med os til Adams peak og Daresh tog med os til toget for at sikre at vi kom med. De kunne hjælpe med alt og det de ikke vidste undersøgte de.

Kommunikation kunne være svær, men alt gik alligevel som planlagt, selvom vi ikke altid var sikre på det.

Super, très gentil, repas et petit déjeuner délicieux !!!

Excellent place to stay in the region before and after climbing Adam’s peak. Beautiful garden, private terrace and super hospitable host. Breakfast and dinner were good. Perfect spot to chill after the climb to Adam’s peak.

No bad things to tell

Our stay at Daresh home stay was great. The host is super welcoming and generous with food and will help you sort out anything. Adam's peak was a 20-30 min tuk tuk drive away and during the day you can take the bus. The location is great, next to a river (so it is a bit humid just be aware) and tea plantations. We enjoyed it a lot.

No se por donde empezar a enumerar las cosas fantásticas de este alojamiento. -Empezemos por Daresh, que es un anfitrión excepcional con un gran corazón y es una gran persona. - La mujer de Daresh cocina superbien. Aconsejamos cenar un Rice&Curry. - Las habitaciones tienen una terraza con vistas a las plantaciones de Té, todo ello acompañado de sonidos de manantial mezclado con el sonido a naturaleza exhuberante de Sri Lanka. Muchas gracias Daresh!

Really disappointed.

Daresh home stay is really wonderful - the rooms are clean, spacious and the balcony of our room overlooked a little stream which meant it was quiet set back from the road. Deva and his family are lovely people - they went above and beyond for us for one of our birthdays and were always checking in if we needed anything else. The food was amazing and they even packed us a delicious breakfast for our early bus the following morning. It’s really accessible by TukTuk to Sri Pada and I couldn’t recommend this place more! Thank you so much ☺️

Great hosts and sweet family. Beautiful location and amazing breakfast and dinner. The host is great at giving recommendations about activities and places to see around Maskaliya, as well as how to get there. Laundry can be done as well, can’t recommend it enough.

The room is big and near to a river, it is not too far from Adams peak. The host are very kind and the breakfast was delicious.

Daresh is an exceptionally friendly host, we really want to thank him for the warmth and hospitality he showed us. the room is north faced and faces a little river. it's also spacious, as well as the bathroom. it had everything it indicated and we had a really great stay all in all. we had breakfast and dinner there twice that was local and lovely.

it's not a very common thing here, so i guess not a critisism, but maybe an idea: almost no accommodation so far had bedside lamps, or generally beautiful and atmospheric lightning - that would be appreciated to relax, read and unwind in the evening. that would really upgrade this little room:))

Very clean room, good bed, hot shower, delicious home cooked dinner that you can eat at the terrace. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Really nice, cozy place with very friendly and kind family. Breakfast were really good and dinners were amazing! Place was in calm area close to Shiva temple and bus.

Nice helpfull host tip - visit nice Shiva temple nearby with good view. Tastefull dinner and breakfast are offered. For outside meal - Butterfly restaurant is quite expensive, but with the best lake and Sri Pada view

Very friendly host and nice room; If you ask you will get a delicious and affordable dinner, the included breakfast is basic but tasty; The location is amazing, I could have spent many more days just sitting and reading on the balcony surrounded by tea plantations; The owner can organize a driver that will show you around Maskeliya and Gartmore Falls; In essence, I had a great time and would have loved to stay longer

Since there was no fan our clothes didn’t dry very well.

The property is extremely clean, Deva and his family are outstanding hosts and the food is exceptionally good. Deva speaks good English and is always willing to help. Gartmore falls and surrounds, Adam’s peak and the tea plantations are all close by and easily accessed from Daresh home stay. We booked for two nights and ended up staying for three nights.

Very welcoming, in a quite peaceful spot by a river. AMAZING food, the Tamil style Pittu and Fish Dahl was incredible.

This is such a lovely place! We ended up here because another hotel had a double booking. We planned om staying only 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights. It is such a relaxing place and the hosts are so incredibly welcoming and caring... Absolutely lovely. Do not expect a fancy hotel, but an sincere, cosy homestay/guesthouse with hosts that are simply beautiful people. Also the food was just great!

All the things are better

Place is clean dn modern inside with attached bathroom with hot water as well.. also the bed is very comfortable with spring mattress..

At the time of booking, there was only one review of this homestay. So we took a leap of faith - that's how we roll... Wow! Were we rewarded! This is by far the best homestay, and Deva is a superhost! He goes above and beyond to make sure we have everything we could possibly want and need, while his lovely wife Mangu conjures up meals fit for the gods! The room is spacious, clean and comfortable (mosquito-net included). A large bay-window overlooks the tea plantations. At night, the subtle ramblings of an enthusiastic river will guide you into a deep coma, as it did for us. The quaint town is within walking distance and packed with friendly Tamil shopkeepers. We absolutely loved our stay! Everyone should experience their hospitality and homestay for sure. It has been the highlight of our journey so far. Thanks to Deva and his wife Mangu. :-)

Quiet place to stay and enjoy Maskeliya, the owner and his wife are lovely people and their food is delicious ! I recommend 🙌 The bed was great and the room big

Wonderful host (and family), asked us if we want breakfast after we got back in the morning from our climb to Adams Peak, which was super appreciated. The host can help you arrange tuktuk to Adams Peak in the night for a reasonable price. The view from the porch is nice, the location is good and the price is unbeatable for what you get. Clean sheets and clean room with a fresh bathroom.

Can be a bit tricky to find in the night, look for the signs on the road then take the stairs down and you will be greeted by the wonderful host.
