Property is next to a place were they play loud music, and it is a bit secluded. It is not so easy to catch a tuk tuk (in my experience). But overall lamazing experience.

Personal war außergewöhnlich nett, wirklich Super Toll. Die Lage war auch top, da man mit den Fahrrad des Hotels super leicht zu den Tempeln und in die Stadt kam. Das Bett war auch gemütlich. Tuktuk zur Weiterfahrt und Safari wurde auch organisiert, sowie super leckeres Frühstück. Vielen Dank!

Nichts schlimmes, hatten nur ein paar kleine Ameisen an der Wand und in der letzten Nacht hat uns ein Gecko besucht.

A really modern and very clean place to stay. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive and really make sure that you feel comfortable. The owner is also very caring and genuinely concerned about his guests’ well-being. You can especially tell at breakfast how much thought and attention is put into the little details. I felt very comfortable and easy here. Especially in Anuradhapura, where I sometimes found it difficult to get out of the tourist bubble and where, as a traveller, you are very often approached as a tourist, this place was a wonderfully calm and welcoming retreat. It definitely made my stay in Anuradhapura much more enjoyable.

The staff was extremely kind and helpful, they even woke up at 5am to prepare coffee as we were leaving very early. We had take-away for dinner and they helped us with plates, cutlerely etc.. The rooms were spacious and the outdoor area really nice.

From the hotel I wouldn't recommend walking anywhere as the main road doesn't have a safe place for pedestrians. With pick me we booked a tuk-tuk to go places and it was easy enough.

Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra estancia en Golden Ray. Las habitaciones estaban limpias y las zonas comunes eran muy agradables. El personal fue encantador y nos ayudó con cualquier indicación que le pedimos. Muy buen y variado desayuno. No se encuentra en el centro de Anura, pero a las principales atracciones de la ciudad se llega en un corto trayecto en autobús. La relación calidad-precio es inmejorable.

Sanjeewa and his staff were exceptional. We were made to feel at home and provided with lovely meals and willing assistance for our excursions around the local area. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and we greatly appreciated the use of the open lounge area for our nightly drinks and gatherings.

Wij hebben via de eigenaar een safari geboekt en een toer met een tuktuk langs bezienswaardigheden. Ook wist hij een taxichauffeur die ons naar de volgende plaats kon brengen. Het ontbijt was verzorgd en lekker. Echt een aanrader!

The location is excellent—within easy reach of all the major sightseeing attractions of Anuradhapura while offering a peaceful atmosphere away from the traffic and noise of the city centre. The town and its attractions are just a short five to ten-minute tuk-tuk ride away, making it both convenient and relaxing. The host and staffs were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. They kindly assisted us in arranging a sightseeing tour, which made our visit much more convenient and enjoyable. The room was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained throughout our stay. The quiet surroundings provided the perfect environment to relax after a day of exploring the ancient city. I would highly recommend Golden Ray Villa to anyone visiting Anuradhapura who is looking for clean accommodation, warm hospitality, and a peaceful stay with easy access to the city's historic attractions.

Die Unterkunft wir gut unterhalten. Es ist immer jemand da, der zum Rechten schaut. Der Innenhof, in dem es auch das Frühstück gibt, ist nett eingerichtet. Super für uns war, dass man Fahrräder gratis ausleihen kann. Damit kann man super zu den Tempeln fahren.

Einziger Wermutstropfen: in unserem Zimmer gab es keinen Kühlschrank.

Sehr sauberes Zimmer/ Unterkunft, die Lage war gut als Ausgangslage um in die sacred City zu gelangen. Der Manager war super freundlich und hat uns sehr geholfen bei allen Fragen und Anliegen. Sehr lwckeres Frühstück gab es auch.

Wat kregen we een warm welkom! Fijne, ruime kamer en heel schoon. We konden fietsen lenen om de stad te verkennen. Ontbijt was heerlijk! Bedankt voor het fijne verblijf.

Die Unterkunft selbst war sehr sauber, gemütlich und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Man merkt sofort, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. I had a really great stay at this hotel 🤩 The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. From the moment I arrived, I received a very warm welcome and the service throughout my stay was excellent. The room was spacious and well equipped, with hot water, air conditioning and a mosquito net. There is also the possibility to do laundry. Breakfast was delicious and very generous, with fresh fruits, toast, eggs, and Sri Lankan specialties. The coffee was also very good. The location is ideal for visiting the historical sites of Anuradhapura. The owner is very helpful and happy to help organize visits and activities. He can also arrange transportation to other cities with a driver, which made traveling around much easier. I truly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this hotel!!

Отличное место в котором хочется жить постоянно🥰 Хозяева самые пркрасные и любезные люди. Так же как и их сотрудники. Готовы помочь во всем. Вилла очень чистая. Постель была свежей и белоснежной. Горячая вода в любое время в любом количестве. В номере есть чайник, чай, кофе, сахар. Есть холодильник. Балкон с видом на рисовое поле. В отеле полная тишина и спокойствие. Есть утюг и гладильная доска которыми можно пользоваться в любое время. Замечательный завтрак и при этом дешевый. Рядом магазинчики со всем необходимым, стоянка тук-туков. Работает приложение Pic me для вызова такси. Ближайшая достопримечательность к этому месту скальный комплекс Весагирия - прекрасна для утренней прогулки, там много павлинов и других птиц.

What a fabulous find. It is like a calm oasis . The family are super nice. We were welcomed with fresh brewed coffee and pancakes . Our room was huge and excellent air con. Comfy bed .Lovely big bathroom. Breakfast was beautiful and definatley our best so far. We have had 9 breakfasts here in Sri Lanka. We only booked one night due to our travel plans but its fairly easy area to get around the sacred sites by booking a driver. Not sure about tuk tuk. We would have stayed longer and taken more time in Anuradhapura as lots to see. We did see one guest returning on a bike so worth checking if this is a good option. It is excellent value for money. Evening you can eat in nearby cafe.

The place is immaculately clean and the architecture is pleasantly modern. There are couches in the common area to relax and to socialise. The owner and staff were ever so kind. They went out of their way on many occasions to help smooth out my visit. It felt like I was visiting a caring family. The intercity buses can drop you at the intersection. I would definitely return if I were to go back to Anuradhapura.

So was von Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber - einfach nur toll - man kriegt Fahrrad, kann Wäsche waschen, kriegt immer Tee (alles ohne Preisaufschlag), Tuk tuk und Ausflüge werden organisiert, tolles Frühstück, Zimmer hell, sauber und geräumig

Een comfortabel , nieuw gebouwd , klein hotel met werkelijk het alleraardigst personeel van onze hele trip. Er zijn fietsen waar je gebruik van kunt maken. Het ontbijt is fantastisch , zorgvuldig klaargemaakt. En op verzoek komt er aanvulling. De wifi is goed. Er staan comfortabele stoelen en banken waar je op kunt uitrusten. er is een goed onderhouden tuin die privacy garandeert. De locatie is wel iets buiten het dorpje en de bezienswaardigheden. Maar met TukTuk of fiets kan je er gemakkelijk komen. De omgeving is niet berg-achtig maar 'plat'.

Het is een nieuw gebouw. We hebben ook in oude gebouwen vrebleven, die hebben van zichzelf wat meer charme. Maar de kamer was schoon en comfortabel. Voor het lezen van een boek zit je wel op het gemeenschappelijke terras (met fijne banken en stoelen), dus heb je iets minder privacy.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, es war sauber und komfortabel. Das Personal war außerordentlich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir wurden bei der Ankunft gleich mit Kaffee und Pancakes begrüßt.

It was a truly wonderful experience. The staff, from the owner to every team member, is incredibly kind and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and everything is new and well-maintained. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful.
They also offer free bicycles, which are perfect for exploring the area. The outdoor lounge and garden are beautifully maintained, creating a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by lovely plants and thoughtful details.
I highly recommend staying here — the value for money is excellent, and the location is perfect, close to everything whether you're walking, biking, or taking a tuk tuk.

There is a great sitting area where you can have a tea or coffee and relax. The location is convenient and just down a little lane. The staff are incredible! They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. They even do your laundry! The breakfast is excellent and varies from day to day. All in all this place is fantastic value!

Genuinely the best place I've ever stayed in terms of service. The staff was so helpful! They were always there when we needed advice on certain activities, to give us free coffee, to give us an umbrella when it was raining when we went out, to translate with booking operators, etc. The room was very tidy and clean, the air-conditioning worked well and the bed was comfortable

We had a great and comfortable stay at Golden Rays Villa! Sanjeewa was incredibly hospitable and gave us the best advice for exploring Anuradhapura by tuk-tuk. Thanks to his recommendation, we experienced a breathtaking sunset at Mihintale and later visited Ruwanweli Maha Seya, where a beautiful ceremony was taking place. It was truly magical! We wouldn’t have discovered this without Sanjeewa’s help. Highly recommend staying here!

What a gem this small hotel is! Large, very clean, modern rooms with excellent AC. Staff is very friendly and helpful and offers free laundry right after you check in. Breakfast is tasty and filling and the French Press coffee is delicious. They have filtered water to refill your bottles so no wasted plastic. Easy to get to, quiet location close to all the ancient sites and city. They will even take you to a nearby resort for pool use if you need a dip in something other than one of the close lakes.

It’s an oasis of calm. On arrival we were treated to delicious homemade pancakes. Very helpful owner organised a tuk tuk tour of ancient city within 5 mins of arrival. Great way to see all the sites. Was about 5 hours. Amazing lemon juice provided on return by owner. Room very nice with good bathroom and hot water. Kubaru restaurant 2 mins away with very nice food and good price with very relaxing location. Owner organised taxi for next day to Kandy. All staff very kind and helpful. Best breakfast so far, pancakes, hoppers, roti all fresh made.

From the moment we stepped into Golden Ray Villa we felt home from home. The room was very spacious with 2 comfortable chairs for relaxing. Sanjeewa gave us tea and pancakes served by lovely Shiran. . Throughout our stay they constantly asked if we needed anything, we requested a kettle and cups which were given immediately. There were so many other kind gestures from Sanjeewa and his staff all delivered with smiles and happiness. A real 5* approach with genuine care. Come to Golden Ray Villa you will not be disappointed. (The breakfast is the best in Sri Lanka) It's all been said on previous reviews so just to summarise...........We came as guests and left as friends. Thank you Sanjeewa and your wonderful staff for everything

An absolute haven close to the sacred city sites of Anuradhapura. Peaceful, set back about 75m from the road. Beautifully appointed rooms and a welcoming dining/reception area - exactly as shown in the photos on this site. What the photos do not reveal is the exceptional service and kindness of the owner and all of his staff. Nor do they convey the outstanding quality of the meals served. It is rare to find a welcoming home away from home as good as Golden Ray Villa and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I had an absolutely amazing stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the wonderful breakfast selection – it was simply delicious and had something for everyone. The cleanliness of the hotel is top-notch, and you can tell that great attention is paid to every detail. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of service and comfort provided. Not far from the railway station :) The host is amazing - we were even picked up from a befriended TukTuk driver at a veeery good rate! Bottle of water in the room :) The bed was ABSOLUTELY one of the most comfortable ones we ever had in Sri Lanka & with a mosquito net, fan & AC. The bathroom was spacious & clean :) There was a water heater for the shower :) If we're ever back in Anuradhapura, we'll stay there :) Restaurant & shop nearby.

Super super helpful and kind staff. They helped us arrange our activities in Anarudapura but also offered coffee/tea/whatever you liked when we were at the accommodation. Breakfast was amazing with a lot of Sri Lankan specialties. Room was comfortable and clean. Location is a bit out of the centre (5-10 minutes by tuk tuk) but on the other hand perfectly located for a trip to the ancient sites and temples. Would highly recommend!!

Facilities were new, super clean, really attentive staff that helped us arrange our transport and day trips! Great breakfast for just $3. They even let us shower and do the check out some hours later after a day of tourism as we were leaving to another town in the evening!

Our family of three stayed three nights and really enjoyed our stay because we were warmly welcomed and felt very much at home. Breakfasts were delicious, generous and varied, the staff are friendly, caring and very efficient at the same time. Beds are comfy with mozzie nets and we slept well. We got help with all our transport arrangements and it was a plus to be able to use a bike to ride to the lake and nearby temples.

Need to take a tuk tuk to good restaurants, as not many to choose from nearby (though we discovered the little shop next door makes wonderful egg hoppers at night and good samosas in the day, also a nearby resort has a reasonable restaurant)

The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The area quiet. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly throughout our stay. When we sat outside in the evenings, they placed mosquito-repellent incense around us to make sure we were comfortable. The breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka. It's a fair way out from town but easy enough to jump into a tuktuk. There are a few restaurants nearby so you don't have to stray far.
