Reviewed Sep 8, 2026What lovely place to stay the room was just what you want. Nice little extras of bottles of water packs of biscuits and even 2 chocolates by the bed. The breakfast was delicious plenty of tea coffee and milk. We had a fantastic meal in the evening which was great value for money.

Reviewed Aug 21, 2026This was our 3rd stay at the Haymakers and we were delighted to be there again. A pleasant room with a comfortable bed and good shower. Friendly helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. We also enjoyed a lovely evening meal, it's a popular pub so it's best to book a table. For us it's the perfect stay on our way to Cornwall.

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026Everything. Lovely clean room, plenty of hot water. Comfortable bed, nice and quiet at night. Safe parking. Everyone was friendly and very helpful, they had reserved a table for us incase we wanted to eat. Food was excellent, and the atmosphere was very nice.
Absolutely nothing. It’s a lovely place to stay, and our dog was made very welcome. Our evening meal was excellent, and breakfast was just as good and very tasty. We will certainly return if we’re down that way again.

The room was a little tired. The hot water was too hot and the cold water tap wasn't cold. The shower cubicle was too small and shower control was erratic. There were also strange noises at regular intervals in the night which I presume was plumbing related. The breakfast was a little disappointing.

Biscuits and water in room in addition to the usual teas coffee etc Good choice of bar snacks, not too big plus specials on the menu. Excellent breakfast freshly cooked. Large sunny garden , car park. Quiet despite being on the main road. Windows in room opened fully , plus a fan in the room. Loved the quirkiness of the building - lots of exposed beams , even in the bedroom.

Reviewed Jul 24, 2026This was the third time I have stayed there and each time the staff have been friendly and very helpful. The menu is excellent and varried, they also keep a wonderful pint. It is so peaceful there but close enough to surounding towns for what I needed. I have and will continue to recommend the Haymaker to all my friends and family.
There is no downside, I have no complaints about the Haymaker or it's staff.

I found it difficult to adjust the shower temperature. We didn’t fathom out how the electrical heated towel tail worked until the second day.

Auf einem Tischchen gab es einen Wasserkocher und Kekse und Tee- und Kaffeetütchen. Der Inn ist gemütlich und das Personal sehr nett. Großer Parkplatz direkt vor und hinter dem Inn. Schöne ländliche Umgebung.Hund willkommen ohne Extrakosten.

Grote eigen parkeerterrein aan de achterkant van het pand met goede verlichting en camera's. Prima plekje voor het veilig stallen van mijn motor. Leuke nette kamer van alle gemakken voorzien! Top!

Reviewed May 29, 2026Sehr uriges Inn. Die Zimmer sind mit einem 5 Sterne Hotel nicht zu vergleichen aber für ein Inn sehr gut. Wie fast immer in solchen Inns war das Essen prima. Hausgemacht. Auch das Frühstück kann sich sehen lassen. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten hier einen Übernachtungsstopp auf dem Rückweg aus Cornwall nach Folkstone. Um dort einen ganzen Urlaub zu verbringen, würde ich das Inn aber nicht empfehlen.

The Haymaker has a lot of history dating back to 18th century The lunch/evening menu is traditional with some homemade meals and their desserts are mostly homemade. The breakfast was good. Our ensuite double room was clean, towels/bedding were of good quality. Also in the room was a kettle with tea/coffee/biscuits and lovely decorative cups/drinking glasses and a good size TV.
The Haymaker Inn has only four rooms for their guests and they are all located on the upper floor reached only by stairs and therefore would not be suitable if you have mobility issues. We found our ensuite with walk in shower, in need of updating and the tiles have issues with mouldy grouting. There was no towel rail or grab rail and only one small glass shelf above the sink.

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026We decided to break our journey from Cornwall to Suffolk & The Haymaker was an ideal spot. The room was comfortable & sparkly clean. We ate in the pub- good meal & excellent local beer. Friendly staff & customers. There was a nice footpath nearby to walk our dog. The village is surrounded by pretty countryside. Chard reservoir reserve is lovely.
We stopped briefly in Chard, which is gloomy.
