Parking - only 2hrs Mon-Sat between 8am-6pm. Difficult if you have heavy luggage or need to make 2 or 3 journeys. There were no spaces available right outside the property the majority of the time.

The tiny ensuite. When I leaned forward to brush my teeth in the basin,my back touched the radiator on the wall behind me. There wasn't enough room outside shower to dry myself after showering. I had to come back into the bedroom to do that.S

The road was very noisy and with the heat we tried sleeping with the window open but that didn't work so we had to shut it. They had supplied a fan which was excellent and they could do nothing about the weather but I would make sure we asked for a room at the back another time.

James & Katherine waren sehr nette Gastgeber. Man fühlte sich herzlich willkommen. Der Charme des alten und liebevoll gestalten Hauses hat uns sehr gefallen. Das Frühstück konnte einen Tag vorher durch Auswahl zusammengestellt werden. Das Rührei und selbst gemachte Granola ist sehr zu empfehlen. Uns hat es gut geschmeckt. Der kleine hübsche Innenhofgarten durfte mitgenutzt werden. Die Betten waren sehr bequem. Chard selbst ist kein wirklicher touristischer Ort. Man gelangt jedoch in ca. 25 Minuten zur Jurassic Coast in Lyme Regis. Dieser Tagesausflug hat uns super gefallen.

Leider hat sich die Hitze in Südengland im Dachzimmer bemerkbar gemacht. Die Gastgeber haben uns freundlicherweise zwei Ventilatoren ins Zimmer gestellt. Damit war es am Abend und morgens gut auszuhalten.

The room could maybe do with with a bedside lamp or reading lights to replace the lights above the bed, which were very bright.

The shower was tricky to use but there was plenty of hot water. Parking is really only feasible on the road.

A very quiet property, even though situated at the top end of Chard High Street. The breakfast was lovely and the room as exactly as shown on the web site.

There wasn't really anything not to like. Room suited my requirements and the couple managing the Lodge could not have been more helpful.

Served breakfast was delicious, we'll be returning to this lovely gem. Whats more, a fascinating local Chard museum directly across the road which you can easily spend a couple of hours

Great for our overnight stay in Chard. Friendly family, comfortable rooms and good breakfast. The building is old with steps and low ceilings, so may not suit everyone. Our bathroom was across the hall, but still private to us.

We had a wonderful stay at Ammonite Lodge and wouldn’t hesitate to return. The hosts were absolutely amazing—so attentive, welcoming, and genuinely committed to making our stay as comfortable as possible. Nothing was too much trouble, and they couldn’t have been more accommodating throughout our visit. Our room was cosy, comfortable, and exactly what we needed for a relaxing stay. What really stood out was the personal touch. At breakfast, the hosts remembered our names, which made us feel valued and truly welcomed rather than just another guest. The combination of excellent hospitality, thoughtful service, and comfortable accommodation made for a fantastic experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

It's in a perfect location to explore Somerset and the South coast. It's also well placed to enjoy the facilities of Chard. Lovely hotel with really friendly, welcoming hosts who do whatever they can to facilitate your stay. Great breakfast!! The rooms have great facilities, always so clean and the bed was so comfortable. I always check out the Ammonite availability first!

Lovely place, Katherine in particular is so friendly and goes out of her way to give you the best stay.

You cannot check in after 11pm, a bit of a problem if you are delayed

Walls so thin that I was kept awake by stereo snoring, from the rooms either side of mine!

This property is amazing! I stayed here with my husband and son. We were on the top floor in the attic room. This wasn’t a problem. There was a couple of small flights of stairs nothing we couldn’t manage. We had a private bathroom which was cleaned to a high standard. Fresh towels provided daily. Everything is so clean with a homely feel. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. I loved the decor and the quotes around the B&B especially the one on the entrance door. It made me smile each time i left. Breakfast is next level. We all really enjoyed it with so much choice. I recommend the granola which is made by the B&B owners it was delicious. The beds are so comfortable first night after traveling a long distance we all slept 12 hours!

I don’t like I have to leave! It’s been a very pleasant 2 nights brake.

Ammonite Lodge is in the centre of Chard, just across from the museum. My room at the top of the lodge was wonderful. It was nice and big, had a comfortable bed and armchair, and overlooked the garden. My bathroom was separate and for my use only. Again, it was large and had a bath and a shower. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. James and Katharine were excellent and helpful hosts.

The guest book could do with updating. For example, some of the Ilminster cafés/restaurants, I.e. F.East and Today’s Menu closed some time ago.

The breakfast was substantial for me and the location meant I could have walked to all my appointments in Chard if parking had been better.

Parking could have been better, only one space otherwise it was street parking.

Breakfast was excellent, I do like warm milk on cereal which I'm sure I would have been given if only I had asked. Everything about the room was just fine. Could not ask for more pleasant and courteous hosts.

James went out of his way to provide me with an on-site car park space but it is very tight. Access to and space for only 2 small cars maximum. On-highway parking close to the guest house is limited to 2 hours between 8 am and 6 pm unrestricted thereafter.

Lovely warm welcome from Catherine after a very long drive in an electric car!! Cosy, spotlessly clean room with modern ensuite shower room. The morning brought a delicious good quality full English breakfast made to order by James. A nice extra was the homemade toasted bread and jam. Definitely recommend a stay.

Das Frühstück war sehr gut, das Zimmer sehr bequem, das Badezimmer gemütlich und gross. Der Parkplatz war schmal, da muss man mit Engen kein Problem haben. Sonst kann man auf der Strasse parken. Die Gastgeber war sehr nett und hilfreich, haben uns viele Tipps gegeben, wo man zB gut essen kann. Sie waren auch super hilfreich, als ich festgestellt habe, dass ich meine Halskette dort vergessen hatte - sie haben sie mir per Post geschickt und selbst die Kosten übernommen. Ich bin so dankbar dafür!!

The hotel was very easy to find being on the high street through the town, loved the hot and fresh breakfast and also the very friendly welcome we were given when arriving at the property James and Katherine are wonderful hosts, very knowledgeable about where to eat locally, and we felt we were looked after from the time we stepped through the front door till the time we left, it was really nice to meet them. Clean and comfortable room, enough tea and coffee in the room as well, and good sized en suite bathroom with plenty of towels. It was a great overnight stay on the way to holiday in Cornwall, and would stay there again when in the area. Thank you.

It was convenient for town. Parking was outside but limited times. So overnight ok.

I found being on top Floor very tricky in the dark there was no automatic light and stairs were dog legged and narrow with overhead bulk head I groped around trying to find a light No air con. Top floor was very hot. Shower was almost in the window so Had to Keep blind down.

The bedroom was a little tight, the furniture a bit outdated, but the room & the shower room were spotlessly clean.

The saniflow toilet but given the space I guess this was the best option for the owners

The breakfast was served hot and efficiently. The standard of food was excellent.

Lovely hosts and great breakfast. The building faces directly onto the A30, but our room was at the back and traffic noise was not an issue. Bedroom small but adequate, comfortable bed.

The shower room is very small.
