L'emplacement est parfait pour visiter Cat Ba et faire une excursion. Le rapport qualité-prix est très bien.

Nous avons eu peu d'interaction avec le personnel. Aussi, il y avait des travaux dans le logement, c'était bruyant par moment.

Hôtel satisfaisant, bien placé, dans une ruelle un peu en recul de la rue donc pas trop bruyant. Chambre grande, correctement équipée, avec salle de bain privée. Personnel sympathique, proposant des tours de bateaux très bon.

Un peu cher (même si ça l'air d'être cher a Cat ba en général) Pas de petit déjeuner Pas toujours quelqu'un à la réception, prévoyez peut être d'attendre un moment si vous avez une requête.

First off we would like to reply to the previous review from Georgia from Belgium. We were witness to her disrespectful behaviour. When the tour guide arrived to collect her and partner she was still having breakfast and in her pyjamas. She tried to argue the time they were to be picked up but as we were doing the same tour the time was clearly correct. She went upstairs to get ready and was in no hurry whatsoever and disregarded the fact that the guide had others to pick up. We felt for the guide as he was by then letting others down but this young woman didnt give a hoot. We learnt later that they cancelled the tour because the guide was too rude…you have to be joking, she was the rude one. We went on the tour and the guide was amazing and the tour was one of the best weve ever done, well worth it. Regarding the construction noise, that was completely put of the hotel’s control. This is Vietnam, not Europe and maybe Asia isnt where she should be. This woman embarassed us as foreigners in Vietnam. Disregard her post.

The position is central. Although very difficult to understand where the hotel is since it is quite hidden and in an almost destroyed secondary street.

Our stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The property is old, poorly maintained, and not clean. The atmosphere feels neglected, and unfortunately the staff were unfriendly and very unprofessional throughout our stay. We also had a very unpleasant experience regarding the motorbike rental. The price was clearly listed as $4 per day, yet at checkout we were suddenly told it was $6 per day. When we pointed out the price list, the staff member literally changed the price in front of our eyes. This gave us the very uncomfortable feeling that they were trying to take advantage of us. Breakfast was also very poor and far below what one would reasonably expect. On our last morning, we were woken up at 6:40 AM by extremely loud construction noises—drilling, hammering, and heavy work sounds. It was impossible to sleep and made for a very unpleasant end to the stay. The hotel also organizes tours to visit the bay. We strongly recommend avoiding these tours. The staff running them were rude and disrespectful. At one point, the guide literally told me: “You shut up and do not complain about the program.” This level of disrespect towards guests is simply unacceptable. Fortunately, we only stayed two nights. I would absolutely not recommend this place.

We liked this place a lot even though we spend there only one night. The room was big, clean and nice. The bathroom was also very big and clean. It was quiet and comfy. Great value for money.

There is very low pressure in the shower, but nothing else I can complain about.

We booked a tour with the staff, which was great, and a bus to Ninh Binh. They also provided breakfast, that was simple but satisfactory. They offered us more blankets as the nights were cold when we were staying.

There wasn’t always someone at the reception so we had to sometimes go back few times to be able to speak to someone.

Nice place close to the sea. Very spacious room with two beds. Nice breakfast included in the price. Great option if you don’t want to spend much money and be close to the main street

The Trang Toan Hotel has a good location, is located in backyard (not on main street) so the noice from the street is not so loud. The family is very friendly, they left us to check-in earlier at about 10:00, they have more options for breakfast,but it was very average and small portions. We like very much and would definitely recommend is the daily boat trip to Ha Long (we ordered the trip via family),, which exceeded our expectations and was amazing! (via Cat Ba amazing). The family (and we as well with tears on edge sometimes :( ) was very sorry for disaster,which left in Cat Ba the tajfoon Yagi from 7th september- it destroyed many infrastrukture, ,hotels, street lights, electricity and as well nature on Cat Ba- it was very visible there, local people are trying their best to repair as much as possible and as quickly as possible befreundet starting the new touristic.season.

We ordered the room with Mountain view and we got the view in backyard,which was really not nice (view on tons of construction material and garbage)- but we understand this, as we came earlier after whole night journey with bus from Sapa and checked-in earlier, so our room was most probably not ready at the time of our arrival. For short stays (1- 2 nights) it was bearable. Unfortunately the room was very moist, you can feel the mould in the air and the AC did not help us to dry the air, as the filters in AC were most probably not for longer time cleaned. We could not sleep well and had some caught afterwards. The owners could not speak english at all.

Location is great. The owners help with organizing transportation and on the last day we got breakfast to go. At first, we got a really wet room and they changed it for another one.

On our first day, we waited for breakfast in the lobby for 50 minutes and no one came (and this was in the time frame of breakfast). When they came, we had to leave for the tour.

It is a great place to stay, the owners are very friendly, they help you in everything they can even though they speak very little English. Very close to everything!

Very loud. You can hear everything through the walls and there were very loud guests at 6 am.

Good location. Close to things but down a side street so not too loud. Free basic breakfast was a nice touch (although it started around 7:30 instead of 6:30). Cheap moto bike rental (100.000 dong) The women who worked there / family members were very friendly and kind and tried to help when the Wi-Fi wasn’t worked. Would stay again.

Had a hard time communicating with staff, which is fine of course since we’re in another country, but something to note. Sometimes also difficult to find staff. Not a social place. Don’t go here to meet other travelers since there’s not really a place to hang out.

We asked to change our room for a better one, but we were denied that even though the new room was completely empty for days. Breakfast 🍳 one egg and instant coffee.

The location is good, though be aware it's up the hill a bit. Lots of restaurants around. The place was comfortable and despite all the other reviews, not too humid. Maybe that's a seasonal thing. Breakfast was fine, simple choice though a little on the oily side. The price is very low and so can't complain much, it really did the job of a budget stay in Cat Ba

The place needs some love. It's dated. The bathroom looks more recently updated by the main room, facilities and towels are tired. The staff was fine, though if you expect more happy active service then maybe this isn't the place for you

This place is fantastic. The location is fantastic close to all the cafes restaurants and bars, the rooms are nice and clean and have lots of space. The best part is the staff, some may say there’s a language barrier but they translate anything that is needed and just can’t do enough for you. He booked our boat trip, bus to Ninh Binh and our scooter hire too. He even dropped us at the bus station and sent us on our way with a pre-packed breakfast - the nicest people! Thank you so much.

Nice hotel, very clean. Big rooms and bathrooms. Simple but good breakfast included in the price. Excellent location: a couple of minutes walk to the sea front, very near the beaches, where you can swim, and a beautiful walkway along the coast. Near the market where you'll find a good and inexpensive place to eat. Also plenty of restaurants and bars around. The family who runs the hotel is very nice. Cat Ba is beautiful but best to avoid the weekend which gets extremely busy.

Our room was pretty a bit damp. I think this is a common problem in the North though as the weather is damp and humid. Might just be that room we did go for the budget room.

There was high humidity in the room, but the owner is not responsible for that. The weather is not good, just keep in mind that it is a cheap hotel, but for the price it was great

Homestay as a true meaning. Could not be more thankful for the hospitality here. I was feeling ill, and they not only helped me find a clinic, but they also came and checked on me and brought water to the clinic, in addition to helping translate with the doctor. They also let me stay in the room later until my bus and took us to the bus station. These acts of kindness cannot be forgotten!

Great value for money, including breakfast! Staff super helpful, even though there is a bit of a language barrier can easily communicate through google translate! They helped us to extend our stay and book on for activities. In a central location on the island and have reasonable rates for bikes etc

The one thing I’d say is the rooms are quite moist and damp, I found my shoes became mouldy and my makeup remover towel even when neither were wet. But as I say, it’s super cheap, you get what you pay for!

The bathroom window can not be opened completely so there is some smell in our room. Other rooms seemed better. Also our bathroom air ventilator wasn't working. Mattress is quite hard, but we slept good

It was perfectly comfortable, it was clean, very well located, the staff were nice and helped me arrange a tour around the bay (a cheap and good one, too)...I mean, pretty much everything was good. My very affordable booking price even had breakfast included (breakfast was so so but for this price it really doesn't matter). Even the Internet was pretty ok (I work remotely so I had tried to check in advance because this is important for me). I'm giving it a 8/10 just because I always rate accommodations quite conservatively, but let's just say that this hotel is pretty good value for money.

The first day there were a few power cuts, not just in this hotel but in the area. It's not the hotel's fault, but if you need to work or do anything like that, keep in mind these kinds of limitations.

It's located near the center of the town. You can also rent the motorbikes at the hotel. Staff will arrange trips to Halong Bay and any other location you want to go. I went from Cat Ba to Ha Giang, no problem at all. The pickup is in front of the hotel.

The room was spacious and clean, with a nice window and a very nice hot shower. The owners were modest and super nice. The boat trip we got through them absolutely exceeded our expectations (called CatBa Amazing). And the breakfast was really good quality food, one can tell this family cooks well!

The room has two huge double beds and mountains view. The hotel is very central near the authentic Vietnamese restaurants, massages places, busstation and the beaches. Breakfast is included in this already very low price. The family who owns the place was service minded and wonderful, always smiling. Even though they spoke little english, they were very good at communicating via Google translate. They provide all sorts of tours for a very good price. I would definitely recommend booking your tours with them because they make sure you get picked up directly from the hotel without any fussy.

Very sweet people and so helpful. The room is spacious with everything you need, even a minibar. The breakfast is good with lot of choice. The localisation is perfect.

The room can be a bit humid but if you let the windows open during the day it will fix the problem.

Good location close to many restaurants. Tours for Ha Long Bay all pick-up from this hotel. Can book a full day tour of Ha Long Bay through this hotel for a very affordable price. Room and bathroom were very spacious and clean. Bed, linens, and pillows were comfortable. Good water pressure in the shower. WiFi worked well. Breakfast was simple, but yummy. Hosts were friendly and it was fun trying to communicate with them as they primarily speak Vietnamese (obviously)!

We only stayed one night here but the place was good and at a good price. You have lots of places to eat around and they serve a free nice breakfast. We could rent a motorbike to visit the natural park and move around, and they can arrange buses to Ninh Binh or other places. The usual stuff in Vietnam. Nice place to stay!.
