Niks. Alles goed geregeld.
Very good staff , friendly . Helped to get Darshan of Kashi Viswanathan and gave me a discount when I decided to stay longer . Everyone is friendly and helps. They can give you an umbrella during the rain . Organise taxis from and to the airport and luggage transferring. .
The room is a bit small and you can't open the window , because there are people leaving in front of the house, so the window is covered all the time with the curtain . It's not really comfortable , as no natural light inside. There were some problems with the hot water sometimes .
Room was exactly same as on photos, that's sometimes is rare around here. And it was clean, that's even more rare. AC works just fine, have hot water. Easy access to Ghats.
We spent 3 nights at Holy River Stays and honestly, it exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel genuinely welcome — not in a scripted, hotel-training kind of way, but in a warm, personal way that’s hard to find these days. Whenever we needed something, the response was almost immediate. Whether it was a question, a request, or just needing a bit of guidance, someone was always available and happy to help. They gave us great tips on places to visit around the area and pointed us to some really good local spots to eat — the kind of recommendations you’d only get from someone who actually knows the place. The room itself was cozy and well thought out. Clean, comfortable, and with a charm that felt boutique without being over the top. And for what you pay, it genuinely feels like you’re getting more than your money’s worth. Location-wise, we had easy access to the main attractions, which made everything so much more relaxed. No stressful commutes, no wasted time — just enjoyed every bit of it. Would absolutely come back and recommend it without hesitation.
Nada
The location is perfect near the ghat, Mr Utkarsh is a gem of a person, never met a person like him in my entire life, so polite, so humble, so knowledgeable and on top of it he is just like a family while you stay in the hotel.
Nothing
It's really nice
All good
I had a wonderful stay at Holy River Stay’s Varanasi. The location is excellent — just a short walk to the Ganges River Ghats, making it perfect for travelers who want to truly focus on experiencing the spiritual atmosphere and daily life around the river. The owner was incredibly kind, responsive, and communicative from the beginning until the end of my stay, which made everything smooth and comfortable. The staff were also very helpful and caring. They personally came to pick me up and guide me safely into the hotel, which I really appreciated, especially in Varanasi’s small lanes. They even took the time to show me around and accompanied me to important temples for prayer. Their hospitality made my experience much more meaningful. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm, authentic stay near the Ganga.
Excellent staff behavior and owner was very reasonable and totally a nice guy.

The caretaker Utkarsh was very kind and helped me with anything I needed. He showed me around and took me to the aarti ceremony and told me many things about the city. Since I am traveling alone it was great to have that kind of care because Varanasi can be a lot.
The guy helped us a lot, took us on a tour around the hidden city and explained many interesting stories about religion.
A bit noisy at night, just the neighbours.
Great clean room and amazing host!
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Caretaker is very kind and helpfull. We did an intresting walkingtour with him. The guesthouse is in the narrow streets nearby the main ghat. There is a rooftop and breakfast is possible. A perfect place !
Nothing
A very alert and helpfull staff, who helped us with any wish we might have.
It was not easy to find.
Nothing. 0/10.
The location was far from ghats, smallest alley, filthy and unsafe. Dirty room, bedsheets, bathroom, under the cot there was dust that hadnt been cleaned for months. Liked absolutely nothing about the property. It was not as per what was uploaded on booking.com, the reviews definitely seem fake. Never stayed in a property this bad, been using booking.com for years.
Warm welcome by Utkarsh who made our stay very special by helping us to make the most of our visit by personally escorting us around and showing us places not normally seen by tourists. We tried some amazing local food, a highlight for us was the many types of Kachori another was The Blue Lassi shop. Fabulous location with a roof top bacony in the old town which was very busy but gave us a very authentic experience just a few minutes from the Ghats. Well equipped room and our host made sure we got everything we needed for our 4 day stay.
Residential area so could be a little noisy at times but didn't impact our stay
Staff of the hotels was very helpful
Every think is okey
Couldn't be better
Kuldeep was absolutely great. He organized everything: taxi, walking tours a guide, something to eat. He was so helpful with everything. So I can highly recommend to stay here. The rooms are clean .
It is a little bit difficult to find the hotel but as I wrote before Kuldeep was so helpful.
The staff was really friendly. We have some issue with the exploring trip, when owner find out about the issue he makes for us tour thought the old town by himself. It was really interesting. Good place to stay :)
Wonderful staff who went above and beyond to make our stay special. Shivam took us on two guided tours to show us the area and supported us getting to and from the hotel. Thank you for such wonderful hospitality! We loved our stay!
The property is wonderful but it is situated right in the centre of a ghat which means you cannot access it directly by taxi. You need to navigate for about 10 minutes through the ghat to reach the hotel. This was a very authentic experience and, although it actually felt safe and the locals in the ghat were lovely, the small, winding streets could be daunting for solo travellers, especially at night.
Everything, for a true Banaras experience, the location, the staff and the room, all exceptional.
The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable — exactly like the photos (if not better!). The location is perfect: close to all the main attractions in Varanasi, yet quiet enough to relax after a day of exploring. The host was kind, attentive, and always available for any question or request. A wonderful stay — I would highly recommend it and would be happy to come back!
Really good place for the price to explore the riverside area. The host willingly supported us with multiple requests, so we extended our stay and had a great time there!
We loved staying at Holy River Stays as an authentic homestay experience in the heart of Varanasi old town, located close to the river. To reach the property you have to navigate busy and tight alleyways, but that is all part of the experience. We opted for a train station pick up which I would recommend for ease. Kuldeep was on hand to help with organising and was very accommodating. He was also very kind and got me a cake for my birthday. Ankit (front of house) was also incredible taking us to the local temple and organising boats, taxis and tuk tuks for us. Nothing was too much trouble! They work very well as a team to make your stay a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend this homestay if you’re after a rustic old town experience.
Nothing I didn’t like, just to manage expectations. This property is clean and comfortable but it is quite rustic. It is very good value for money but don’t expect luxury. The experience is made by the hospitality and location.
This place is in the centre of the old town amongst the alleyways, shrines, and chaos. Not for everyone but for me it was a good experience and i saw the real Varanasi! It is a short walk to the road for a taxi and minutes from the Ganges and the ghats. The staff were fantastic. Kuldeep checked in on me every day, gave me recommendations on where to go, arranged transport and guides, and took me to the temples. Ankit showed me where the Aarti ceremony was, walked me to my taxi when I left and arranged my laundry. As a solo traveller I really appreciated their help and support.
Very, very bad location
Nice staff!
Location
Hot shower, comfortable bed, good air conditioning. Great location close to the ghats, roof terrace offers nice views. Might be tricky for some guests to find but if you have Google maps and take your time through the narrow lanes, you’ll be fine - just remember to pack light as taxis can’t get directly to the property
Organisation is a little chaotic in terms of staff. Upon arrival there was some attempt to move guests to another hotel (had they overbooked?). When we had departed after our stay we received notification from booking that the property were saying we hadn’t stayed there - we had to fill in a form asserting that we had stayed - very odd
Kuldeep and his team have got many great reviews from previous guests... and if their experience was half as good as ours, you can trust them all. The property is authentic in the old part of town down narrow lanes... which means it won't be for everyone. But if you want authentic, in a great location that offers simply stunning value then this is the place for you. Kuldeep is a professional that knows visitors may find getting to the place difficult... no problem... he communicates with you while you're travelling, sends a porter to retrieve you from a main square so removing any difficulties. We didn't take up his kind offer to walk us around local temples on our first night (a welcome freebie) but were thankful for food recommendations and other advice. He's a guy that just gets things organised for you if you want it... the 5am boatride so we could see the sunrise Aarti was something special. But more than friendly welcomes, great communication, being present and organising whatever you need, he properly cares about his guests. The main example of this being on check out at a godforsaken time in the morning to catch a bus out of town... yes he organised a porter, yes he organised a tuktuk, yes he was texting to ensure all was OK (despite it being 5.45am)... but he made the driver stay with us, he was concerned about the bus so rang the company, he ensured we were OK... people do that kind of thing, if you're lucky, when you stay with them... but never once you've paid and left... hopefully that shows you'll be in good hands when you stay here.

No facilities
The host is the loveliest person ever. He was so caring and welcoming that you feel at home. All things that you need are provided. Location is in the most authentic part of the city near the river. Our group from Bulgaria had an amazing stay. 😊🙏
I booked a room at the Holy river stay at very short notice and am grateful to have got a place there. Since I spontaneously stayed longer in Varanasi, I moved to Mr. Kuldeep's other hotel after one night (see review of the Mangalamay Kashi hotel). For the one night I stayed at the Holy River, everything was perfect: friendly staff and a great location (5 minutes to the Ghats) - it's just not that easy to find in the maze of small streets in Varanasi.
Profoundly grateful! A wonderful place! I can't express my gratitude enough to Kuldeep. This is not just a hotel—it's a home. They cared for me like family, and as a woman traveling alone, that meant the world. They arranged food, a boat ride, and even a horse ride, which Kuldeep generously gifted me for my birthday! I couldn’t believe it! it was such a kind and unexpected gesture. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my final days after two months in India.m On the practical side, the location is fantastic, just a few steps down, and you're on the banks of the Ganga. The room was clean and had unlimited hot water ❤️a luxury that, if you’ve traveled in India, you’ll truly appreciate. It also had air conditioning and a heater, which is useful when it got chilly. The attention to detail was impressive, right down to a toothbrush! I didn’t need it, but it was a thoughtful touch. It’s people like Kuldeep who make me love this country. I will definitely return, and I highly recommend this place!
Nothing
The location of the homestay is just perfect. The owner and staff very lovely and caring. Recommended for a 2-3 days in Varanasi. Everything was good. It's quite unique place that can surprise you in a positive way. :)
In the middle of the old centre of Varanassi near to the river side (Ganges). You can walk everywhere on the street. The owner Kuldeep was a very kind man. When we arrived, he came to welkom us and tell uw what we could do during our stay. Because of some festivities on 30 and 31 December (we arrived at 29 December), he told us to make the boat ride on the Ganges the 29th. So we did. Very beautifull! The next day we walked by ourselfs along the river and the Gaths (very impressive). The day our daughter was sick (31st) he offers to get some medicine and fruits (for free). He and his staff wel very helpfull. In the evening of the 30th, Kuldeep took as to a ceremony in a temple. Also very impressive. A good place to stay for a couple of days and to discover the area. Thank you for all your good help and we enjoyed our stay with you! The take good care of us.
We had a cold shower, buy that was because of the switch in the hall. The personal switched the lights of during the night, because they sleep in front of the frontdoor, and also the switch for the hot water. We told them not to switch of the switch for the hot water and the next morning we had a hot shower :) So there was really nothing to complain.
Pack light. No transportation is possible for the last 300-400 meters. However, the property is close proximity to multiple temples and an average 700-800 meters walk.
Location from distance to many temples was good. Kuldeep was very helpful and warm. Helped us with some beautiful darshans in the temples. I choose this property as it is walking distance from numerous temples.
It is a bit inside, you have to be prepared to walk for about 300-400 meters to access any transport. Just be prepared for that. Kuldeep arranged for the luggage to be carried from/to taxi, so that is good.
Holy River Stays is placed central to Ganga and not too far from the Kashi Vishvanat temple, all within walking distance. Kuldeep is an excellent host and he personally took us on a Temple walk in the local area, including arati at the Durga Temple and a visit to the Kaal Bhairav Temple, ending it with a stop at a local sweets shop.
Very nice owner and staff, good location
The stay is very near to Ganesh ghat. The staffs(Ankit and Umesh bhaiya) were really friendly, very polite and helpful. They took us to nearby temples and Shayan Aarthi at Kashi Vishwanath temple. Rooms were spacious. The host (Kuldeep) was also very friendly.
Bathrooms could have been a little bigger.
This is a review for River Town View (which is also owned by the same people who own Holy River Stay). We moved there as the room was ready early morning when we arrived (and we were both pretty sick!) River Town view was further out of town for restaurants etc but the accommodation / rooms were lovely. And a one minute walk to the ghats. Honey looked after us so well too with food and meds - thankyou Honey.
it is very near to the Ganges, but it is difficult to find. Taxis cannot reach the hotel. Safe: guard is sleeping in front of the room. extensive whatsapp communication
loud: no closed windows next to a small street. very basic for european standards, but too expensive for indian guesthouse standards.
This lovely guesthouse was amazing and the staff so helpfull. We had a problem with hot water and the owner sorted it out quickly. Best positions in hearth of old varanasi. The room was very nice and clean. To improve the bathroom cleaning. Owner was kind to make us a tour of temples around the house and arrange for us boat trip and transport.
No breakfast included and all the near caffè open after 9 AM.
I stood at Holy River Stays for Diwali, which is a very important religious event celebrated with family and lots of fireworks. Kuldeep kindly invited me to join his family together with other clients of his guesthouses. His hospitality is outstanding. I will be forever thankful because, as a solo female traveller, he always made me feel safe. He takes very good care of his guests! He also took me to a Aarti ceremony in a temple which was an outstanding experience. The guest house couldn't be more centrically located, in the middle of all those old narrow streets and close to the main Ghatts. My room on the groundfloor had a window with grids to the tiny courtyard so I could chitchat with the children outside. So cute! Everything was clean and well organised. Thank you so much!
Everything great!
I want to share my wonderful experience staying at this hotel! First of all, the location is just perfect! The hotel is within walking distance of major attractions, yet tucked away from the noise of the main streets, ensuring a peaceful stay. I especially want to highlight the hotel owner - Kuldeep. He is incredibly friendly and attentive to every guest. From the very start, it was clear that he genuinely cares about making everyone feel at home. At check-out, he surprised us with a thoughtful gift – a small but memorable gift from our trip. This gesture truly won our hearts and left us with warm memories. We will definitely come back here and recommend this hotel to all our friends!

Location: deep in the old quarter of Varanasi. It was like stepping back in time. The area has narrow paths, unvarnished, authentic, not commercialized (at time of my visit). Short walk to the most well known ghats - no need for transportation.
If you are looking for luxury, you may want to select one of Kuldeep’s other properties. Though not a negative for me, no TV etc. However, basics were completely adequate.
The big reason I booked this property was because of the reviews being so highly rated. I must say I was a bit disappointed. We stayed 4 nights. The room was okay, the cleanliness could have been better. Kuldeep was absent or away for the first 3 nights so we had no direction input. He did ring a couple of times but communication was a bit hard over the phone. The room lacked amenities, no tea coffee, water . The staff were friendly but communication wasn’t easy( not all there fault). Location was an experience, not easy to reach but Shriva? The young fellow meet us to guide us in. Glen B
Cleanliness, communication, amenities
It was my first time travelling to India and i came to Varanasi as a solo female traveller. I could not feel more welcome and safe. The owner Kuldeep is very friendly, helpful and attentive to his guests. I had everything I needed and wanded, thank you for accepting me so warm-heartedly 🙏❤️

Super friendly and helpful host and staff, spacious room and bathroom, good bed and a/c
The room was so clean and comfortable. The room had a lot of light!the hotel is nearby the ghats and the host is very friendly and attentive. Willing to take you to see the temples in the evening.
Very close to the gants. The room had AC and it was confortable.
Host was very friendly. Aircon worked well. Very close to Ganges river, ghats, Blue Lassi. Nice chai tea. They let us check in early.
Watching the bag man walk bare foot through the streets through cow dung and dirt and then traipsing it all in to our room wasn’t ideal. Not accessible by car or tuk tuk so you have to walk through tiny alleyways for 10 mins from the street with your bags. We lost count of the number by of times our door was knocked on by staff at all hours. It became uncomfortable, we couldn’t relax. We were woken by a bag man at 7am one morning who mistook our room for another. The noise from kids screaming & playing outside our window at night went on for HOURS, they may aswell of been in the room with us they were so loud. This happened all 4 nights. Window did nothing to mask. Shower temp was tepid at best. We didn’t have a duvet cover the first night.
The owner of the hostel helped us so much and showed us the hidden secrets of old town. An unforgettable experience.
Location is perfect for access to the ghats and the old part of the city. Only a two minute walk to the nearest ghat. Kuldeep was an amazing host. Very friendly, warm, helpful and accommodating. One of the bests hosts I’ve come across.
It was the one of the best trip with amazing property and the best part is the hospitality of the host he is gem of a person he took care of each and every thing. The room is clean and provide every essential thing.
Everything it is an absolute diamond in the rough and boy did it shine… Extremely clean and comfortable…. The host was at hand to help in any way he could A little tip thou as I wished I had accepted make sure you take the host up on picking you up from airport or train station etc as it is difficult to negate the old streets of Varanasi

Our first time visit to varanasi and found this gem location next to Ganesh ghat. Yes, you have to walk good 8-10 minutes from narrow lanes to reach this place from main road and will be difficult without the guidance. But here comes the Superman host of this property "Kuldeep". Kuldeep is one gem of a host one can ask for. He himself came on a two-wheeler to pick my mother due to her age. Always available and ready to guide you about the best experiences around your stay. He even arranged a visit to those temples which are not easy to find without any assistance of local. He also took out time from his busy schedule to roam around with us and explaining everything. from Breakfast to dinner, he is your go to Man for everything. because of him our stay was very pleasant and exceed our expectations.
Nothing to dislike.
This is a real gem. This small but exeptional place is tucked away in the charming alley ways of the most precious part of Varanasi, and is near all important temples and a mere 3 minute walk to Ganesh Ghat. The location is fab! Everything is in easy reach and walking distance, the area is super safe , the rooms are clean, spacious, good wifi and a lovely rooftop terrace. All these facts make this place fabulous, but the attention to detail ,and the truly genuine care by the host and owner "Kuldeep" and his staff are what makes this place truly exeptional and a real home away from home. Real people, real hospitality, and the photos in this listing accurately represent the listing . Dont hestitate to make this your go to place when in Varanasi. Thanks Kuldeep for all the care, hospitality and going above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable, and that my video production work was a full sucess .

Comfortable rooms. Owner and staff are nice
Very difficult to navigate to the hotel. Need to call helper everytime to go back to the hotel.
Our host couldn't have been more helpful, especially when it came to arriving and leaving as we got lost getting there! He also gave us advice for our next few destinations
Liked it all
Kuldeep was very helpful and couldn't help us more. Perfect host for Holi. Excellent stay. Totally recommend.
Location very close to the river, Kuldeep is a great host, property is very clean and has all the amenities you need.
Difficult to access with luggage and find the first time, but the host can arrange a porter for reasonable cost to assist.
Great host! Really nice property that he is upgrading. The roof top deck is very nice
The neighborhood is lacking good restaurants nearby
We do not know if you would find a better property in Varanasi but you will not find a better host. From the moment you let Kuldeep know how you are arriving he will arrange everything including a very late delayed transfer and food in our room. This hotel is a quintessential, boutique, rough diamond, honest and one which you will not regret booking. The location is just off the river so is very easy to navigate once you have arrived. You can tell why people stay here for longer. Highly recommended!
You cannot criticise this property.
A little gem right in the heart of Kashi. With access through one of the narrow streets, there is not a trace of a traffic sound, so you get to enjoy absolutely peaceful sunrise views above the Ganga from the rooftop. Just a staircase away from the river bank, some 7 min walk from the mysterious Manikarnika Ghat. Rooms are super clean with contemporary furnishing and lovely personal touches such as wall murals and soulful names of rooms. Aircon, heater for cold mornings, towels, amenities... Pretty much all you can wish for. But the best part is the atmosphere!! Kuldeep, the owner, and his team go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Breakfast served in bed, yummi home-cooked meals, loundry service, even an in-room massage, or running small errands for you is possible if that's what you desire. As a solo female traveler slightly intimidated by the traffic and the labyrinth of pathways, I also appreciated being accompanied on my walks to the market in the beginning. Originally booked for 3 nights, stayed for 26. Couldn't have chosen a better place.
The host was really responsive and helpful and replied fast to all our questions. Our driver communicated with the staff of the home stay and someone came to pick us up at the point where no cars could enter anymore. The staff even carried our luggage through the narrow streets of varanassi. So that was helpful. We were welcomed with a really nice Indian, local dessert on the terrace. The host organised a boat ride for two for us to see the aarti ceremony that was super uncomplicated and nice. He even offered us to go and see a temple but we were to tired by then. When we asked for dinner recommendations, the host really nicely offered us to get us food and prepared everything on the wonderful terrace with a view in the Ganga :)
The linen were not clean, but the host immediately brought us new blankets, offered a discount and even gave me a small present as an apology. We also asked for the bathroom to be cleaned again.
Location
Staff behavior
From Room hygiene to staff behaviour, hospitality everything was amazing. It was my first time visit to banaras and I was worried about my stay but Kuldeep really helped out. Apart from the amazing stay he showed various places which are not so mainstream and explored.
The room of the size could have been a bit bigger.
Kuldeep the host was amazing from beginning to end. He went out of his way to show us the sights and brought some local delicacies for us to try. A genuine, honest lovely man 😊 Also. It was my partners birthday and he went out of his way to make it special.
Simply wonderful stay organized by Kuldeep. Hats off to him. Pros The property : Location is bang on Ram ghat. From the terrace you have a view of Ganga. Rooms : Neat and clean rooms with all facilities like water bottle, heater, toiletries, towels, comb, slippers and a comfy bed Staff : very nice, supportive and always eager to assist. Kuldeep : He is very understanding and a nice gentleman. Goes beyond the normal to assist the guests. He has very good knowledge about Varanasi and helped us in arranging Darshan, boat ride etc Without his guidance we wouldn't have enjoyed this trip as much.. Thanks Kuldeep
Owner Kuldeep bhai is an amazing person, he provide all possible support and very co operative.
you have to walk a lot from the main road, on small-dirty lanes.
The owner welcomed us as true guests. He guided us down to the main burning Ghant and shared with us the rights of passage. The owner was very attentive to our every need. The property has views over the Ganges which aren't shown on the photos an added surprise when we went onto the roof garden for complimentary breakfast. The property is situated right on the banks of the river (150m at most) and down narrow lanes, so I would take up the offer from the owner for him to collect you and lead you to the homestay.
We had the ground floor room which was a times a little noisy from fellow guests coming and going. but minor.
Kuldip is the best host in Varanasi, you definitely need to stay with him. Everything was perfect. We liked it so much. Room was great, big bed and hot shower, also the rooftop terrace is very nice. We definitely will come back.

Location is not clear, cannot find hotel
Kuldeep, the host of this guest house in Kaashi, truly enhanced our trip with his exceptional hospitality. From recommending the finest local cuisine to organizing temple visits, he immersed us in the city's charm, making us feel like true locals. His insights into hidden gems and arranging a magical aarti experience at Sankatha Mata Mandir added an unforgettable touch. The prime location, within walking distance of Kaal Bhairav Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and Manikarnika Ghat, made our stay incredibly convenient. The new property excelled in both comfort and hygiene, leaving us eager for a return visit. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Everything was good
location is excellent , if some one wants to enjoy banaras ki galiyan then its perfect choice and also 70 percent of all instagram recomendations are nearly with in 500 meter radius .
hotel is good , location is good but as the streets are very conjusted , so you will have to cows and dogs and also 2 wheelers (jinse apko bach kr nikalna hoga).
The location is great, very near the ghats. The hotel owner is very helpful and makes sure to take very good care of guests.
I like everything.
The property is adjacent to the ghat with a view of the Ganga river from the terrace . It’s neat and clean . The staff is very cooperative and friendly . Kuldeep , the host gives personal attention to all the guests and makes sure that the trip is beyond the Varanasi that you wanted to visit . I had amazing stay and thanks to him visited many other places that were not on my list . 5 stars!
The host Kuldeep went out of his way to make my hours in Varanasi special
