Friendly staff
The bed was a bit high to get into for a short and an elderly person, I would suggest a footstool or something at the bed.
The surrounding area was dodgy to say the least.
The area
This has always been or most famous place to stay over during our trips between JHB and Cape Town. Sadly it feels like it’s become a little dated and the whole place smells damp and mouldy.
We were saddened to hear that the staff don’t receive the tips that guests give them! It don’t feel happy to support this or return. Very sad!
The staff was FANTASTIC and helpful.
The smell.of sewerage in the roomnwe stayed i. Using the bathroom basin had a pungent sewer.smell coming from the drain. Plugging the drain and closing the bathroom door did not help with the smell
Comfy bed and good dinner
Rooms requiring maintenance. Terrible smell in the bathroom. Very small bathroom. Coffee was not good.
It was an oasis in a strange little town. The decorations were tastefully done with pieces of the surrounding bush. The staff were exceptionally nice and went out of their way to help us
The township in the area has grown close to the hotel. The poverty is very apparent. It was a bit scary coming off the main road. But once you are inside the property it was a haven
Friendly staff, clean room and a breakfast good enough for a queen. Will defnitely recommend.
The hotel creates an amazing experience for a one night stay. Most friendly and accommodating staff.

So quirky and fascinating. Loved it
We have stayed at The Hanover Luxury Hotel a few times and it is lovely. We will continue to visit as it is always a pleasurable experience.
Nothing to make note of.
Midpoint between jhb & CT. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Cool & memorable pink painted exterior. Artsy decor. Very welcoming bar area and courtyard. Safe hotel, with safe parking for cars.
Hotel is looking dated and could use a revamp. No towel rails in the bedroom or bathroom. Photos are deceptive because they make it look new. Bathrooms could use a face lift.
This hotel is a decor sensation the rooms and facilities are of the highest quality I stayed an extra day!
The staff are amazing - friendly and customer focused.
The entire hotel looks tired and old is in need of an upgrade.
Loved the decor and style
Dinner was not fantastic - pork belly was dry. We were rushed to eat. There was no one to help us with parked in cars when we left early in morning. Only 1 gate remote, so difficult to negotiate between people
Oasis in the middle of the Karoo. It is the most beautiful little hotel with professional and friendly staff. The hotel has a warm and homely feel and the food is EXCELLENT. I absolutely LOVE LOVE this hotel and can highly recommend it.
Excellent breakfast
Nothing
Loved the hotel inside. Neat tidy. Comfortable.Great food but expensive. Parking safe and secure and staff were friendly. Loved the fireplace in the lounge.
food too expensive for the portion size. 3 little chops for around R260 and a kilo of chops is R180 in reality. I'm on holiday so I treated myself and family but in reality for the average South African, the meals here are too pricy. Must seperate costs for SA guests versus non SA. This was like a ghost town. Despite it being cold. Only saw 2 cars on road, one passing by and other was the police van for the police based about 5 house down the street.
Left too early to enjoy the breakfast
Toilet was a bit of an issue
Real good rest stop traveling between capt and jhb
Some doors were abit difficult to close
The food served by the in-house restaurant was high quality and well prepared.
One of a kind gem in the middel of the Karoo ... Stunning stay.
Very lovely, chic quaint hotel loved every minute there.
The wifi was stalling a lot.
Hanover is a good place to stopover when driving through the Karoo. The town is quite rustic but the hotel was like an oasis. We felt safe and comfortable and we had the most delicious dinner. The pub is lovely and lots of areas to relax. The room was spacious and had a small fridge and coffee facilities. The hotel has unique decor. We were very happy.
absolutely stunning felt transformed to another world
It's not in where we stay - Nothing not to like
It was new to us, but a peacefull little place. My husband was able to move freely, as he is on cruthes and sometimed wheelchair bound. The whole room were beautifull and just what we needed after a long drive.
The cappuchino i ordered with supper was too strong. But the food was well prepared.
Grand dame of a building updated and decorated with eclectic flair. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Dinner was excellent!
The breakfast as underwhelming - it was cold and not all guests were served the same time. Please invest in a professional espresso machine and a barista: life is too short to have bad coffee! Sad to have deal with the local children begging at the parking area… The reality of our country sadly.
Interesting Artsy Hotel in the middle of nowhere halfway between Cape Town and Joburg. The new owner made a lot of good efforts to do something out of the ordinary with the given structure
Getting into/out of parking is cumbersome as there is always a staffer needed to open the door. Food is good, but could be a bit more ambitious to fit the overall theme
The staff was excellent
Very comfortable room. Food was great.
Beds are too high but comfortable.
Everything was absolutely perfect from the location to the accomodation and superb service from all the staff.
The only issue we all had was that you could not include a tip if paying by card. We did not have cash and it was late and there was no option to even tip staff in other ways. If the website could let guests know this in advance they could be prepared because the food and service was exceptional and the staff deserve to be thanked accordingly.
This is a great stopover en route to Cape Town or Johannesburg. The decor is quirky but wonderful. The room was extremely comfortable. We had a room overlooking the pool with a beautiful veranda to sit out on. Both dinner and breakfast were great. Simple home cooking but delicious. The staff were friendly and so helpful. We'll stay here again on our next road trip.
The wifi connection was poor. It's only available in the bar or the entrance hallway.
Absolute Karoo Bliss. Haven in the Middle of Nowhere. Decor Stunning.
Booked for Dinner around midday only to be told just before dinner that half your guests can't have their chosen meal and have to choose another. And then other guests were served the meal that wasn't available to you.
exceptional staff
Could do with a TV in the room
Friendly staff - comfortable room - cold beers - conveniently situated. Rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable. This is our 2nd time and will use it again in future.
It's not their fault but the kids that swarm around your car begging when you are trying to check in or check out - but I guess that comes with a small poor town like that.
Very nice and the food was great
Kettle and espresso machine but no coffee, sugar or milk. No working plugs near mirror for hair dryer.
Great facility
Noise from the verandah in the middle of the night
More than adequate as a stopover accomodation.
There are too many mosquitoes, but not the establishments fault.
Beautifully styled, a great place to stop when travelling
Nothing
Comfortable and clean, great for overnight stop
Need net curtains on windows in room facing road.
The staff were so helpful. And nothing was too much trouble. The whole hotel was amazing. The decor was so much fun. We loved our stay.
Gorgeous decorations, friendly staff and just such a lovely spot we stayed a second night and thoroughly enjoyed it. A hidden gem and must visit!
We stopped at Hanover Luxury Hotel on our road trip to Cape Town and it completely blew our minds. It’s the most beautiful oasis in the middle of nowhere. Everything was exceptional from the tranquil swimming pool and incredibly comfortable bedrooms to the carefully curated décor in every corner and the outstanding food. Highly, highly recommended, and a place we could very easily have stayed at for longer.
The supper was excellent – some of the best lamb chops we have ever had. The decor throughout the hotel is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and engaging.
The smell of wet carpet the next morning was quite overwhelming. (Granted, it rained quite a bit the day before.)
It was an amazing oasis, with very confident, friendly and accommodating staff.
A very minor issue was a leaking toilet in the room in which I stayed, which gave me a little trouble sleeping.
The decor is beautiful - classy and interesting with so much variety - your eyes and soul are treated everywhere you look. This 100-year old dame has been transformed so beautifully. It is remarkable how the owner and team have managed to create such splendor in the heart of Hanover - hats off to everyone!!
The bathrooms were tiny, but if you're just staying over for a night, it won't matter.
Beautiful & excellant food
Hard to see all the kids hanging around the property… sobering
Lots of character, super friendly staff. High standard per-friendly hotel.
Nothing
Beautiful garden and clean pool to cool off in the Karoo heat. Staff is very polite and well trained. Rooms are spacious, with high quality bedding and linen. We have stayed here multiple times, and will keep on returning!
On arrival the hotel notified me that they had no water or electricity since the day before and told us they had to move us to another hotel however, the hotel in question was 60km away and not in the direction we were travelling. The hotel notified me on 27 December 2025 that they have refunded me however, it is now 10 January 2026 and I have not received a refund
The look and feel of the Hotel was amazing.... love the zest about it
Parking might be a bit tight, but we were accommodated in the allocated space
Charm and comfort of country hotel
Electricity problems Food was excellent but not warm enough
Decor, food and friendly staff
Bed was comfortable and room set up for our family of 3. Food was lovely as well with friendly service.
Only downside was a slight smell coming from the drains that we suspected was due to the heavy rain.
The garden was lovely. Parking was secure. The Check-in staff were friendly. The bed linen was crisp and clean.
The in-house restaurant staff were not attentive. We had to ask the receptionist for service at the bar and later in the restaurant. A tv in the room would have been great.
Great spot considering the route. Fantastic aesthetics in the designs of Sauer Group properties, the owner should be very proud.
Very cute, beautifully decorated, and full of colour.
A big surprise! Unexpected beautiful!
Nothing.
