The location is fantastic for visiting both the town and the Menin Gate.
The stairs are a little narrow, but that is to be expected in an older Belgium house.
Excellent location and fabulous host. Benoit gave us all the information we could take in .

Fantastic host Ben. Great place to stay, location perfect
The location was spectacular. It is right across the street from the Menin gate. Therefore, you can go to see the last post ceremony quite easily. I highly recommend that everyone attend the ceremony. It is very meaningful and respectful. It is a spacious home with plenty of room for everyone and impeccable decorations. We loved the historical memorabilia. Also, the host, Benoit, is an exceptional historian and was so helpful and helped us to organize our tour of the World War I sites.
Everything was fantastic. We have no concerns.
Fantastic house in great location and helpful, knowledgeable host.
Perhaps a chopping board, unless we just couldn't find one!
Ever think was good.
Fijne locatie. Alles was aanwezig. Fijne gastheer

Superb location . Loved the memorabilia . Had absolutely everything we needed.

Beautiful property, in a beautiful location. Every single thing you could want or need is available in the property. Fabulous spot for a family holiday.

Our stay at Menin Gate House was absolutely exceptional. The location is unbeatable, offering stunning views that truly connect you to the area. The house itself is a beautiful property: spotlessly clean, comfortable, and full of character. One of the absolute highlights was the incredible collection of memorabilia, which made the experience feel so authentic and special. Above all, a huge thank you to Benoit, who runs the house; his hospitality and welcoming nature really tied the whole trip together. Highly recommended!

Te weinig stopcontacten op de slaapkamers
Amazing location. Excellent host
Two big points to note. 1) if you only book for 4 people you only get 1 en-suite as the 2nd ensuite if on the top floor which is not available for 4 guests. 2) whilst parking outside is not guaranteed of course if you do get a space you are only allowed to park for 2 hours which is a total pain. Free unlimited parking is available about 300m away

Fantastic location and very comfortable.
Amazing location, couldn’t be better. No issues with parking. Walking into the house is like walking into a combined museum and library. There are so many books to read around the war and associated artefacts to look at. The host is a fountain of knowledge and a lovely man. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our children - the house and host gave them an experience they will never forget!
Nothing - this place is excellent in every sense of the word!
Elektrische apparaten in keuken. Oven ingewikkeld om te bedienen. Fornuis blokkeerde ook soms.
De sfeer van het huis.
The proprietor was welcoming, informative, extremely knowledgeable and helpful in every respect. The facilties were perfect.
All good.
Everything! Steeped in history, fantastic location, beautiful property.

Ben is a great host, very welcoming and helpful. The house is just two minutes walk from Menin Gate and centrally located for our trips out. Our second visit, and I'm sure not the last.

Location, well equipped
Stairs quite steep
Excellent communications and meeting Ben in person.
There was nothing that we didn't like, put simply it was exceptional.
A perfect location for a tour of the Battlefields of the First World War. An amazing property right next to the Menin Gate and filled with amazing memorabilia from the war. Really skilfully renovated property that we enjoyed spending time in. Ben is a very welcoming host with great knowledge about the war and it was a pleasure to meet him

Narrow stairs!
Wonderful, warm cosy house where we were surrounded by history and had a fantadtic view of the Menin Gate. Would definitely recommens and hope to be back again.
Heel gezellige vakantiewoning. Comfortabele bedden en op toplocatie. Vriendelijke eigenaars

Great location

Excellent location fascinating interior and superb facilities
A dream home for WWI military history and for the Menin Gate. Large, luxury accommodation for families with just everything you would need for a perfect stay. We have found a diamond and will return again and again. Seeing the Menin Gate when you open your curtains was unreal!
Nothing not to like.
Great place and host set in historic location of great importance.

Benoit met us at the property, gave us a fantastic tour of the house and all the memorabilia and photos showing it and the Menin Gates history. He also showed us some fantastic places to visit during our stay. The location is incredible, waking up to the sun rising over the Menin Gate, an incredible venue with a brilliant host. We would love to return.
The perfect base location from which to explore all places of interest in the Ypres salient. Located 50 metres from the Menin Gate and 200 metres from the centres many restaurants and bars. You could not wish for a better location in that the property is located some 50 metres from the Menin gate and 150 metres from the centre of Ypres with it’s numerous Restaurants and Bars.. This is an ideal location to use as a base to explore the many other battlefields of The Great War. We visited so many locations during our 2 day stay including The New Irish Farm Cemetary, Tyne Cot Cemetary, Hill 62, Hill 60 and the German Langemark Cemetery and the Christmas truce location. Our host, Ben, the Chairman of the Last Post Committee was an absolute mine of information and his knowledge and information made our visit so memorable and enjoyable.
There is nothing to dislike.
Location and space
Benoit met us at the property on arrival. He gave a very comprehensive tour of the property, explained how things worked and about the history of the house, which was amazing. Parking was easy in the surrounding area,as guided by Benoit, and we had no issues in this regard. You could not improve on the view from the house of the Menin Gate in all its majesty. Perfectly positioned for all that Ypres offers in terms of history and restaurants, but very quiet location (at night particularly). This house worked perfectly for us as two families, as we rented the whole property. 2 separate apartments within one house. We were 4 adults and one 16 year old and the space allowed us to eat and socialise together, but have our own space and privacy as separate families as required and at night.
This is not a dislike ! The only extra we would have liked was a washing machine as we had a 6 night stay, but we knew before arrival so could plan in advance !
De locatie is top ! Ruime woning met ruime slaapkamers.
2nd time at the property, excellent location for all that Ypres has to offer.

The owner was able to met us at the property and let us in . Ben then showed us all we needed to know
Ligging, authentiek karakter, keuken
This was our second visit. Location is exceptional.. This is such a unique property, it is quirky, homely, interesting as are the proprietors. You couldn't ask for nicer, knowledgeable people, we felt quite privileged when invited to be guests of "Ben" to attend the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate. Thank you for everything, we will return.
What's not to like
Excellent position, easy parking, very clean.
The stairs are very steep with a new knee, but we knew that.
So close to the gate, what a fantastic host
Absolutely lovely

Superb location and facilities. Spacious and comfortable. Great outside courtyard. Convenient parking. Excellent communication and a warm welcome from the hosts. Full of history.
That I had to leave.
Central location Excellent host Excellent facilities
No laundry facility located
I really liked the space in the house.
Fantastic location. Comfortable beds. Property full of character and artefacts. Lots of rooms. The host, Benoit, although away at the time, was in contact to make sure everything was OK.
Only a microwave - no oven.
Great location. Easy access. Good comms from Benoit. Good spacious rooms for 6 people. Lovely interior design and amazing kitchen diner.
We stayed during a hot spell. A fan for each bedroom would have made the evenings more comfortable. Maybe a loo on the top floor would reduce the noise of old men going up and down the stairs to the loo!
Location and number of beds.
Not enough seating in the lounge for everyone
What a magical place to stay. The history within the house is amazing with a great collection of WW1 memorabilia. Host Ben was amazing and one of the best we have had, what a warm welcome we got and he was so helpful. The location of the property is surreal.
Nothing
Full of charm and character. Lots of memorabilia re Menin Gate
Stairs a bit steep
Will definitely stay again if ever back in location. Lovely to just walk into town for meals
The stay was only 2nights...wish it had been longer!
The location was perfect
Not a criticism but a mirror in the bedroom would have been good.
5 ⭐️’s perfect location, great host who made us feel very welcome. Loved all the memorabilia in the property. All the facilities were there. Lovely bars, cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Local area steeped with history.
The location of the house and style of it fitted with the history of the area. The owner, Ben, is lovely and very helpful.
The amount of beds listed is wrong.
