We booked a twin rm but were given a rm with bunk beds. Could hear lots of water noises from next door's bathroom.

Loved the hostel and the staff were superb

The hostel was exceptionally clean — actually cleaner than some hotels we stayed in that were several times more expensive. The room was very spacious. We had a private room with our own bathroom, and it was really nicely furnished. There was also a lovely bay window with a cosy seating area where you could sit on cushions and relax. The furniture looked new, the carpet was new, and everything seemed freshly painted and well maintained. For a hostel, the value for money was absolutely outstanding. Considering the price, the standard was exceptionally high.

Nous y étions un jour de pluie, une pièce de repos plus grande serait la bienvenue avec des jeux de société. Un accès à l' espace restaurant en dehors des heures serait un plus. Idem pour manger en autonomie.

Don't usually use hostels but I wouldn't hesitate in using it again. We had a family room so didn't share with strangers. Toilets and showers in the hall. It also had a dining room where you could buy breakfast or order lunch and dinner. A shop to buy food. Inside and outside kitchen to use.

Notre chambre était très petite et sentait l’humidité. Le wifi ne marche que dans le hall d’entrée. Il n’y a pas suffisamment de toilettes et douche par rapport au nombre de chambre.

Chambre vieillotte , pas entretenue , literie et lit déplorable , pour près de 100 euros la nuit avec SDB commune et WC commun , lequel la chasse d’eau ne fonctionnait pas ! Le prix est sans les petits déjeuners … À fuir !

Great Glen Hostel was spotlessly clean! It was very basic but cosy and had everything we needed. Staff were lovely & very accommodating. We liked that there was a communal kitchen and a tuck shop for essentials. A beautiful location too

Non sembrava di essere in un ostello. La camera era privata con bagno in camera, molto grande, letti singoli a castello comodi. I trattori d'epoca nel parcheggio TOP, così come le capre e i cavalli che si facevano fare i grattini!

Bedding comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, and great location for my stay. :)

Lugar con encanto rodeado de naturaleza, para hacer una noche en el camino. Cocina y baños compartidos limpios. Mesas libres para comer. Camas cómodas. Servicio de restaurante si lo necesitas. Llegamos más tarde de la hora de check in y nos dejaron las llaves de la habitación en el mostrador para recogerlas sin problema.

Très beau cadre et très bel établissement, nous sommes ravis de notre séjour… un seul regret : n’avoir pris qu’une nuit !

It was in the middle of the forest, so the vibes were immaculate. We also liked the tractor. The historical building also added to the charm of the stay.

The building is nice from the outside but was quite cramped inside. Our room was particularly small. Among all the breakfasts we had at various stops this was the most basic and most expensive. The walls were quite thin, and we were next to the bathroom, so unfortunately we could hear everything. There was sadly no soap or shampoo provided. We appreciate the hostel’s efforts at providing us with the best possible accommodation.

El lugar era una antigua granja y tenía un entorno muy bonito.

La ducha resbalaba bastante y la luz de emergencia verde molestaba un poco al dormir

La struttura ci è piaciuta moltissimo. Si trova in un luogo splendido e tranquillo. Noi eravamo in 3 e a giugno abbiamo trovato pochissima gente. Questo ha agevolato senza ombra di dubbio la pulizia (i bagni erano curatissimi) e anche la possibilità di prenotare la cena presso il ristorante della struttura. Consigliatissimo!

We got a spacious room with a warm bed. The shared bathroom was spotlessly clean, the hot shower a delight. Above everything, the food (we had dinner, breakfast and ordered packed lunches) was scrumptious while offered at a reasonable price. And the entire place is just so cozy! Special shout-out to the staff for their helpfulness and friendly attitude despite the place being quite busy!

La habitación olía a calcetín sudado, el baño a fosa séptica. Las zonas comunes de reducían a una cocina comedor para espacio para 8 personas. Esa sala no la limpian por la mañana, no la barren, no cambian los trapos de cocina ni los manteles, no tiran la basura. El precio es elevadísimo para un hostel. No tenía muchas expectativas, pero ha sido peor de lo que esperaba, pero no hay muchas alternativas alrededor

We arrived late at night after reception had closed at 9 PM, but we called ahead to let the property know. The staff kindly left the keys for us along with a note containing our room number and Wi-Fi password, which made the late check-in very easy. The property was easy to find, located conveniently on the road we were travelling by car, and there was ample parking available. The room and beds were clean, and both the toilet and shower were also very clean. We only had breakfast at the Farmhouse Kitchen, and it was very nice. There were also animals around the property, including llamas and cows, as well as some antique tractors, which was a nice touch if you enjoy that kind of setting. The view from our window was absolutely fabulous and added to the overall experience.

Water: We expected drinking water to be available in the room, but unfortunately there was none. Luckily, we had brought our own water, but we had to go back to the parking area to get it during the night, which was inconvenient, especially as it was dark. Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi was available, but unfortunately it was practically unusable during our stay. Bat incident: The room was quite hot, so we opened the window during the night. Around 2–3 AM, I woke up and discovered mosquitoes in the room, along with a bat that had entered through the open window. We immediately contacted the emergency number provided by the property and informed them that there was a bat in our room. We were told that there was nothing they could do at that time and that we should try to get the bat out ourselves, or alternatively sleep in the lobby. We found this response concerning, particularly as it was the middle of the night and we were dealing with a bat inside the room. At the time, we did not mention to management that I had also woken up with what appeared to be a bite. After returning home, however, I sought medical advice and was advised to undergo rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and vaccination as a precaution. While the actual risk may be very low, rabies is an extremely serious disease, and exposure to bats is something that should be taken seriously. We understand that bats can occasionally enter properties, particularly when windows are open, and our concern is not simply that a bat entered the room. Rather, we would strongly suggest that the property has a clear SOP (standard operating procedure) for dealing with bats and other potential wildlife incidents, including appropriate guidance for staff and guests. In particular, guests should be made aware of the potential health risks associated with bat exposure and advised to seek medical attention if they may have been bitten or scratched, especially if they were asleep and cannot confidently rule out contact.

Lovely and welcoming and clean. Good shower in clean shared bathroom. Good supper, great picnic and breakfast. Also loved being able to use the laundry.

VERY OVERPRICED for a hostel (133 per night for a double room without breakfast) No en-suite, kettle in room or clothes hanging facilities (fine for a hostel but not for a room at this price). Small kitchen with just 2 small tables for self- catering (in separate building), plus another tiny kitchen with no seating/tables or freezer - not sufficient for several families and other travellers all trying to cook at once. Small communal lounge (4 sofas). Menu for meals was limited and pricey.

Struttura che consigliamo, tranquilla e silenziosa, noi abbiamo dormito in una camera privata con un letto a castello, piccola ma pulita, con lenzuola e asciugami inclusi. Il bagno era in comune ed era pulito, anche le docce perfette. Ci siamo stati solo per dormire e ci siamo trovati benissimo. C'è anche la cucina in comune, una con dei tavoli, fornelli, frigo e utensili per cucinare, chiusa la notte, si trova in un secondo edificio proprio difronte, l'altra nello stesso stabile sempre aperta. Parcheggio ampio disponibile. C'è anche la possibilità di cenare ma la cucina chiude presto verso le 20.

Location was excellent for our travel plans. Facilities were clean, and provided everything we needed and more. Excellent communication prior to our stay. Great value!!

L’environnement dans la nature, la proximité de la route (pas de détour), les chèvres dans l’enclos, le calme le soir. Les sanitaires et les douches sont très propres. La communication est facile avec le personnel pour préparer l’arrivée.

L’établissement n’est pas adapté aux enfants et aux ados. Les formules dîners et petits dej’ ne sont pas simples.

Cet établissement bénéficie d’un emplacement idéal et d’un aménagement soigné. Les sanitaires sont impeccables, et le linge de lit et de toilette est propre et frais. Le personnel est accueillant et chaleureux, et l’ambiance générale est agréable. Le restaurant est de qualité !

Un groupe de touristes irrespectueux et bruyants a perturbé la tranquillité de l’hôtel jusqu’à tard dans la nuit, avec des chants, des portes qui claquent et des cris. C’était très désagréable pour s’endormir, surtout compte tenu de la demande de silence à partir de 21h.

Arrivati alle 9.00 dopo giornata di trekking e abbiamo trovato le docce fredde.. TERRIBILE!!! Stanza troppo piccola per tre adulti...alle 4 del mattino mancava l'ossigeno ho dovuto aprire la finestra....che era bloccata e si apriva pochissimo!!!

Unser 4er Zimmer war sehr geräumig, schön warm bei dem Regen, den wir hier hatten. Das eigene Bad ist auch toll. Zum Frühstück und zur Küche können wir nichts sagen, da nicht genutzt.

Wir hatten eine zeitlang ziemlichen Lärm/Getrampel von oben, aber zum Glück nicht mehr nach 22 h und dafür kann die Herberge ja nichts.

Was good location for stop over on route to Highlands and Islands

Nous n'avons qu'une nuit pour une étape nous ramenant de Skye à l'aéroport d'Edimbourg. Nous avions la chambre familiale à 5 qui était très propre et confortable. La photo sur le site correspondait parfaitement. A 30 minutes de Glencoe.

Sehr nettes Personal, familiäre Atmosphäre. Der Self-Cooking-Bereich sowie Waschmaschine, Trockner und Trockenraum sind ein Mehrwert und für Motorradreisende wirklich hilfreich. Das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen, auch wenn man auf glutenfreie und milchfreie Ernährung angewiesen ist. Es war alles sehr sauber.

Bedre forklaring om overnattingsstedet bl.a. hvor toalettene og vaskerommet befinner seg og hvordan disse fungerer når man overnatter et sted med fellesbad etc. Veldig tynne vegger og støy var lett å høre gjennom og mellom rommene…

Przestrzeń jadalna i socjalna, czystość, lokalizacja.

La camera era spaziosa, pulita e dotata di servizi. I letti erano comodi. Gli animali di fattoria nel recinto fuori al Hostel che i bambini potevano accarezzare.

Ci sono 2 cucine: una nell'edificio principale sempre accessibile, piccola e senza tavoli dove poter mangiare. L'altra è da parte (bisogna attraversare il cortile), sempre piccola, con 2 tavoli da pranzo e chiusa tra le 21.00 e le 07.30. Per fortuna la struttura ha un ristorante e c'era solo un'altra famiglia in cucina con noi.

Das Personal ist wirklich sehr nett, zuvorkommend und unterstützt in allen Bereichen. Die Möglichkeit, selbst zu kochen und zu essen, Waschmaschine, Trockner und Trockenraum sind für eine Schottlandreise mit dem Motorrad wirklich gut. Das Frühstück dort lässt keine Wünsche offen. Es war auch ohne Probleme möglich, ein gluten- und milchfreies Frühstück zu bekommen. Danke dafür!

Ich mag halt keine Gemeinschaftsbäder. Das war aber nicht tragisch, ist halt nur nicht meins.

Wij hadden 3-persoons kamer, met gezamenlijke douche en toilet: zeer schoon allemaal.

2-persoons bed nogal smal

Ein sauberes Gemeinschaftsbad und eine kleine aber gut ausgestattete Gemeinschaftsküche.

Falsche Informationen über die Zimmergrösse (12 qm bei Booking angegeben, 8 qm tatsächlich, ausgemessen). Das Personal bestritt das zuerst, behauptete dann, man sieht auf dem Bild bei Booking, dass es viel kleiner als 12 qm ist und schob die Verantwortung auf Booking. Im Zimmer für 3 Personen gab es nur ein Etagenbett mit schlechten Matratzen, einen dreckiger Stuhl und einen mickrigen Tisch. Man konnte sich kaum bewegen. Der Preis von 138 £ dafür ist viel zu hoch.

Pulita e accogliente. Staff gentile e molto giovane, l’unica pecca: poche tazze a disposizione nella cucina comune al piano terra della casa.

Generell war es sehr sauber, vor allem in den Gemeinschafts-Bädern sowie in den Gemeinschaftsküchen. Die Duschen waren top! Leider läuft das Wasser im Waschbecken viel zu kurz (man muss es jedes Mal neu antippen) und ist dabei viel zu heiß. Die Kinder hatten viel Freude an den Ziegen und Alpacas.

Wir hatten als Familie ein 5-Bett-Zimmer und es war eine Katastrophe! Es hatte rein GAR NICHTS mit den schönen Fotos aus den Bewertungen zu tun, aber seht selbst. Viel zu klein, alles alt und abgewohnt, kein Tisch, kein Schrank, keine Regale und 1 alter Sessel vor dem von Vogelkot verschmiertem Fenster (Schwalbennest). Wir hatten das Pech, dass es durchgehend geregnet hat und mussten uns quasi in diesem Zimmer zufünft aufhalten, da es auch auf dem gesamten Gelände kaum Möglichkeiten gab, sich woanders aufzuhalten. Von außen ist das Hostel toll mit recht großem Grundstück, aber innen wird es scheinbar bis auf den letzten Quadratmeter mit solchen Zimmern vollgestopft und ausgenutzt. Wenn wir jetzt noch bedenken, dass wir auf unserem gesamten UK-Roadtrip mit das meiste Geld ausgerechnet für diese Unterkunft bezahlt haben (knapp 400 € für 2 Nächte!!!), wobei alle anderen Unterkünfte viel schöner waren, sodass diese mit Abstand auf dem letzten Platz gelandet ist, dann grenzt es schon an Abzocke... Wir haben diese Unterkunft nur vorab gebucht, weil diese ziemlich gut auf dem Weg liegt, wenn man bis ganz oben in die Highlands möchte UND es im Umkreis absolut nichts anderes gibt, wo man übernachten möchte bzw. die wenigen anderen noch viel horrendere Preise ausrufen (teilweise vierstellig). Schade, dass dies dann so ausgenutzt wird... Rund ums Hostel gibt es nichts. Wir wollten wenigstens einen kleinen Spaziergang machen und auf der Karte sieht es so aus, als könnte man zum nahegelegenen Kanal wandern und dann daran entlang zum nächsten Ort/Loch. Allerdings kommt man da zu Fuß nicht hin, außer man läuft auf der Straße entlang oder auf der Wiese neben der Straße. Die Fahrzeuge brettern dort aber mit 100 km/h durch, das war uns mit Kindern zu riskant. Daher sind wir dann doch wieder aufs Zimmer und hockten auf den Betten. Die Gemeinschaftsküchen sind leider sehr klein. Es können max.

Very clean, lots of options for rooms/beds, fantastic staff with a useful wee shop and brilliant restaurant.

The location is great! We booked here since it was close to the Loch Lochy munros. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms and showers were clean, and they provided towels. They also had a fully stocked canteen, so if you forget some snacks, they got them.

Fräscht och välstädat. Trevlig personal. Väldigt god middag.

Frukosten var riktigt tråkig tyvärr. Ineffektivt system och absolut inte prisvärd. För halva summan vore det ok men de hade absolut vunnit på att ha en trevlig buffé för den kontinentala frukosten. Gärna med bättre råvaror. Sängkläderna var inte sköna.

Väldigt trångt på rummet. Inte mycket plats att sitta på/ uppehålla sig om vädret inte varit bra. Trist att gå längs en ordentligt trafikerad väg för att komma dit.

Not at all what I expected having booked through Booking.com. However, this was the fault of Booking.com not the hostel. Had I booked direct it would have been a LOT cheaper and I would have been prepared for what we actually experienced.

The location was great for walking GGW. The self catering kitchen was minuscule but the dining hall and kitchen was large and buying dinner and breakfast was much easier. And it was good.

If I wanted to cook it would have been tricky as there wasn’t a shop nearby to buy groceries.
