White Villa Hotel

Had a lovely time at White Villa, the accommodation is just a 5 min walk away from Uppuveli beach. A lot of good restaurants in the area. And possibility of doing snorkelling, whale & dolphin watching. The host was very friendly, a very good English speaker. Also he arranged everything for us, even transportation to our next destination.

clean, comfortable, and the manager was SO helpful. He organised a 4am tuk tuk for us, and called a bus company to ensure we’d get seats the next day. Thanks for the stay!

Die Lage.

Die Sauberkeit im Zimmer lies zu wünschen übrig. Nach dem Duschen war das kleine Bad komplett nass, sodass man nicht trocken ans Waschbecken bzw. zur Toilette kommt. Die sogenannte Gemeinschaftsküche sah schlimm aus. Der Tisch davor war ungemütlich. Das Ambiente insgesamt hat uns nicht gefallen. Wir haben uns am nächsten Tag ein anderes Quartier gesucht.

Lo bueno es que está cerca de la playa y tiene aire acondicionado.

Instalaciones bastante sucias: paredes super sucias, las sábanas aunque parecían lavadas tenían manchas, el suelo parecía que no estaba fregado, muchísimo polvo en las mesillas y los interuptores... De primera impresión me quise ir a otro sitio, pero al final por el precio tampoco encontrábamos nada mucho mejor. Básico para dormir y no ser demasiado escrupuloso. Cuando llegue me dieron una habitación que era diferente a la que yo había pagado, pero es verdad que cuando se lo dije al chico que atendía en el alojamiento nos cambió a otra habitación. No entiendo las buenas opiniones que tiene, la verdad.

The hotel is nearby beach(5 mins walk) and there are many cafes and restaurants around. The host is very responsive and helped with whatever we needed. They were also considerate enough to allow us for a late check-out(7 hours approx.). Definitely value for money.

I've left the same comment for all guest houses in Sri Lanka: the windows need a screen or netting over them so they can be opened for extended periods of time to let fresh air in. This would be a huge improvement and do a lot for comfort. The wifi wasn't great, bring your own.

Great location a few minutes walk from the beach and the main strip of tourist restaurants. Abi was an amazing host. Room was clean and ac worked great!

We had to move rooms due to a really bad drainage smell but the second room was great! Good area to make breakfast etc, and overall a comfortable stay so would recommend.

There were an awful lot of noises throughout the evening / into the night - mainly dogs (it seems there was a dog caged in the house next door which wailed an awful lot) which made it difficult to sleep if you are a light sleeper.

Sehr laute Geräusche im Zimmer, die die Schlafqualität negativ beeinflusst haben. Mücken im Zimmer, Flecken auf den Bettdecken. Den Besitzer haben wir leider nicht kennenlernen können.

Super emplacement. L'hôte a été génial, à notre arrivé, il y avait un défaut sur la clim de la chambre, il nous a immédiatement changé de chambre. Beaucoup d'activités sont disponibles avec des prestataires de qualités et un prix raisonnable.

La chambre manque un peu de charme.

C'est proche de la plages et des petits commerces et Aby est vraiment très serviable et sympathique

Un arredo della camera era rotto. Pulizia sommaria, sono sicuro che con più attenzione lo staff può fare di meglio. -consiglio allo staff di pulire il ventilatore (le pale del ventilatore).

De locatie was perfect.

Onze kamer was erg gedateerd, badkamer was niet schoon. Andere kamers zagen er beter uit dan die van ons, wij hadden de familie room.

Basic, but all you need for a nice stay. Good location, 5 minutes walk from a nice Beach with several places to drink & eat, with beachchairs with umbrellas. Abi arranged transport for us.

Extremely nice and helpful staff. Room great value with excellent aircon and two good ceiling fans. Very good breakfast in the accompanying La' Prince Cafe. Organizes very good boat tours, also very good value for money. If we should return to Uppuveli, we would stay here again! Recommend!

Nothing really. The water pressure in the bath could be higher but it was absolutely no issue.

Mostly a clean room which was also cleaned thoroughly when we requested. Great location, only a couple minutes walk from the beach and restaurants. Air con worked great, wifi worked fine and it was overall comfortable stay. The best aspect of this stay was the hospitality though, as the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay went as smoothly as possible. Checkout time was flexible to what we needed so we weren’t in a tight rush to be out by a certain time, hot coffee was brought to our room without asking, when we needed a bottle of water and they didn’t have any, the owner bought one and brought it to our room as I was about to go out and buy one. On our last day, the owner helped my girlfriend with her phone which had ran out of data and helped us work out how to get to our next destination. They truly went above and beyond to help.

There was some very small stains on our bed sheets which was off putting for my girlfriend, so maybe just ensuring that all sheets are completely clean before making beds. The staff were very loud in the mornings which woke us up each day. These were only small things that could be improved and should in no way stop anyone staying here as it’s a great property.

Clean, spacious rooms with good aircon. Perfect location, and the loveliest staff, Abi and shafeer who run the place are kind and accommodating, I really recommend you stay here when in trincomalee, we stayed 5 nights but could have stayed much longer. Shafeer the owner also helped us organise the best scuba diving trip which was more affordable than any others we found in the area. Also you have to try the food in the connected Cafe, Izad is an amazing chef

Clean room, good AC and very friendly and helpfull staff. Abi and the owners of the hotel are always open for questions. They even did groceries for us when we were not able to! Would definitely recommend staying here. Location is also great.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very happy with our stay! It is a great location between the beach and all the good local restaurants - a short walk to everything. The rooms were clean, A/C works well, and the owner was friendly.

White Villa is located on a quiet street with Uppaveli beach and restaurants just a few minutes walk away. I was made to feel completely at home. Habi, checked me and couldn’t do enough to help. All the staff were so kind and helpful, it really made my stay special. The owner is a lovely man who will be able to assist with any activities and travel arrangements. The rooms was bright and airy with an air con and fan that worked well. Comfy mattress and pillows! There is a cafe/restaurant downstairs which they were starting up again for the season and the food I tried was very tasty. I would definitely come back to this little haven.

WiFi in the room was a bit slow but compared to other guest houses in Sri Lanka it worked pretty well.

Perfect location by the restaurants with a short walk to the beach. Owner was super friendly and made us feel welcomed during our stay. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Working wifi & hot water. They even let us park our tuk tuk safely which was an added bonus Thank you for a good stay!! 🙂

Very large and comfortable bed with ceiling fan and ac. Just off the main road and a few minutes walk to the "main street" with lots of restaurants and mini marts, only a 10/15 min walk to the beach.

Responsive host, had parking place for our tuktuk. We had soap and towels, which was a nice surprise. Also air conditioning was nice.

Bathroom could be cleaner, also no hot water. Had some enormous bugs, of course it’s in the wild but could be better isolated. Also noisy from outside at night.

Lovely stay. Abi was so helpful with advice about transport, booking tuktuks, sorting scooter rental and food recommendations. Location is great, really close to beach and property is tucked away from main road so was quiet. Absolutely loved that the room had blackout blinds - we slept really well!

The shower only had cold water but this wasn’t a problem as we were able to use the hot shower in another room. It’s also warm in Trincomalee so some days, a cold shower was absolutely fine!

A 10min walk from most of the main restaurants and bars

Hosts are super friendly and helpfull, beds are comfortable, a/c is working fine. There is no water heater, but water is warm enough for showering. There is a shared kitchen with fridge and stove which we could use. Both room and bathroom are spacious. We have decided to stay longer than planned.

The hotel is very close to the beach, it was very clean, the staff very accomodating. We actually booked for 2 people, but our friend decided to come as well and we were immediately put in a bigger room free of charge. The bed was lovely, we were given bigger towels and blankets when we asked. There was also a birthday party and were kindly invited the family in cake and friends. They had a lot of local knowledge and we really appreciate the help with organising buses for us. The manager even called to make a reservation for one us to ensure we got a seat on an AC bus. Overall, the hotel and family is very kind and hospitable and accomodating.

The only issues were communication issues. At first one of the employees informed us that the water available at the property would be free of charge. However when it came to pay we were asked for water consumption, which would not have been as high if we knew that we had to pay per bottle (especially since we have our own water filter bottles which we didn't use because we thought it was free). In addition, booking.com highlighted that cash is not accepted. Therefore we planned our trip accordingly. When the time to pay arrived we were told we could only pay in cash. This was unforeseen and caused some problems which we could solve eventually by paying with card through a third party.

The owner was very helpful and kind in allowing us to extend and offering suggestions of things to do around the area. The room was really affordable and comfotable for me and my friends, as we each had a double bed to ourselves and could relax a bit rather than staying at a hostel, but for the same price. It is only a 10/15 minute walk to where most of the main shops/ bars/ beaches are.

My friend had ants in her bed and we reported this to the staff and the owner and nothing was done about it. It wasn't a massive issue, just a bit annoying that nothing was done.

I had a wonderful stay at White Vella Hotel! The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the beach and close to all the main attractions. The staff was incredibly friendly and supportive, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. They even helped us find a taxi to Ella, which was a huge help. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. Highly recommend staying here!
