Sounds in Silence - Misty Forest Garden

The area is beautiful and the property is well maintained with all needed amenities.

It is advertised as pet friendly, and an immediate booking was processed by Booking.com but the owner was very surprised when we arrived with our 2 yorkies. It resulted in a strained situation and us feeling guarded.

Wonderful place with amazing hosts- CJ and Gabriel. I prefer to stay in such type of accommodation because you can feel real hospitality here, not like in hotels, even 4-5 stars. We had wonderful evening with hosts and there friend -we got cooking class how to prepare real braai meet and bread! It was unbelievable, the best meat we eat in our life! Perfect view from terrace, a lot of birds around. Unfortunately we had only one night in this place. Definitely recommend, amazing experience!

Quite, serene environment

We loved the beautiful, serene environment, the comprehensive amenities, and the wonderful host. The location was perfect, with easy proximity to other activities, making our stay both relaxing and convenient.

The road was a dirt rd and not easy to drive on. Communal kitchen was a bit awkward to make use of . Had to go down an open passage way in the freezing cold to make coffee in the morning. A kettle in the room would be nice.

It was good value for money, a great base for a tournament at Michaelhouse and to explore the area. Had everything we needed

The water pressure and temperature could be a bit temperamental if the neighbors were also showering, otherwise everything was perfect

Everything worked, the electric blanket, the heaters and fans, the wi-fi , everything works, this gem is seriously underrated.

The seclusion in the midlands with beautiful views

CJ & Gabriel were absolutely amazing hosts. Sounds in Silence is such a peaceful place to unwind. The views are amazing and the layout and space of the rooms is great. They have truly thought of all the details. I really cannot wait to come back again !

This is a place where you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend. The hosts CP and Gawie were most welcoming, and we were also given a quick tour on the premises showing its ties to South African history. The views are especially spectacular, and tranquility prevails... The large communal kitchen/lounge with the welcoming fire was a winner... As a keen birder, I was especially surprised at the variety of birds... A múst stop on the way to the KZN Coast...

The fact that we could only stay one night...!

Location, responsive host, accommodates requests to convenience us the guests and lovely chats too with the host. He was also very good at assisting us to find the place as we were getting lost.

I think there is an opportunity to utilise the fireplace to warm up the rooms especially in winter, otherwise the electric blanket did wonders :-)...

Very quiet and serene. The host CJ is very thoughtful and helpful. Beautifully appointed bedrooms.

Nothing much to complain about but the kitchen could have a spatula and the bedroom cupboard a few coat hangers.

The view absolutely blew me away, the serenity and quietness was perfect. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and so knowledgeable. The place has everything you need and is super comfy.

The mist didn't allow us to feast on the stunning views, nor did we get to experience the walk in the forest But it does give us a reason to try again.

Sadly it was just a short overnight stay. But what an unexpected tranquil gem. Such a sense of peace. The only plus about my planned 4:40am departure was I got to see the magnificent stars. My early departure was accommodated by the friendly and engaging host and the communal lounge was the perfect place to pour my travel coffee. I nearly took the gorgeous resident cat home with me. Will definitely be back to soak up the stillness for longer next time.

Maybe just the signage to find the place.

This property is well situated in the midlands. Our hosts were wonderful and inviting upon arrival which made all the difference. For the purpose of our stay it was central to where we wanted to go 10mins from piggly wiggly and 10 from notties. The views from the deck are magnificent, and this quaint and rustic place gives you a full sense of immersion in the midlands.

Host CJ is friendly and gladly shares his vast knowledge of his property's fascinating history. The view of Sounds in Silence is gorgeous and the aura peaceful. The bedroom we stayed in was tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. The private bathroom is spacious and spotless. My daughter and I loved our short stay, as did our spaniel.

The calm of the surroundings and the excellent service from the owner (and his interesting conversations and delicious whiskey blend)

All is excellent, but the chickens from the property may wake you up very early if you are too sensitive to the noise (not my case, but it was for my partner)

Enjoyed the scenery. Place was amazing peaceful just as I expected. The host was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. He was very informative about the area and sight seeing. It sure was a magical experience will definitely be going back there wen I want to retreat from the hustle and bustle.

The hosts were absolutely amazing and very accommodating. They even took us for a walk to explore their lovely property and the history of it. Such gracious people.
