J’enlève quelques étoiles car j’ai contacté l’établissement pour check in plutôt parce que je venais de finir de gravir le mont Ijen + la route jusqu’à Banyuwangi, donc debout depuis plusieurs heures, vêtements sales … bref, j’étais KO, on m’a gentiment refusé ceci en me disant que la chambre était encore occupée ce que je comprends, j’ai donc demandé à rester dans le hall le temps que la chambre soit prête, en mentionnant que j’ai nul par où aller, il était 9h, le check in était à 14h On m’a répondu, toujours par texto, que l’espace commun était "limité et réservé aux personnes qui y sont déjà". En lisant ça, je m’attendais à un mini hall ou un couloir et je comprends que ça les fasse chier Donc j’arrive, le garçon accepte de garder mon backpack, et quelle fut ma surprise quand j’ai vu que l’espace commun était assez grand pour m’accueillir dignement, mais en plus quand j’ai demandé d’utiliser les toilettes pour me changer, il m’a proposé d’aller aux toilettes se situant à l’extérieur, plutôt mal entretenues … Donc j’ai trainé dehors, dans des cafés, jardin, même des Mart pour passer le temps, +5h, étant debout depuis +24h avec la fatigue de l’ascension de Ijen, je peux vous dire que je m’en souviendrais… J’ai quand même envoyé un texto vers 13h pour demander si la chambre était prête, et on m’a dit que oui et que je pouvais venir, ça m’a d’ailleurs étonné qu’on ne m’ait pas notifié avant que je demande vu tout ce qui s’est passé … Bref, le garçon est gentil, mais j’ai vraiment pas apprécié ce traitement avant le check in …

Wafah helped me with booking a tour and all other questions I had. I will stay here again once I’m back in Banyuwangi!

Die Unterkunft verfügt auch über einen schönen Gemeinschaftsbereich mit Küche. In der Nähe befinden sich Restaurants, Cafés und Mini-Märkte. Großes Lob an das sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal. Direkt nach der Ankunft habe ich in der Unterkunft für dieselbe Nacht meine Tour zum Ijen gebucht. Die Tour selbst und die Guides waren hervorragend. Wir hatten sehr viel Spaß. Klare Empfehlung für das Ijen Haus!

It is so clean and beautiful, and so many good touches, such as the kitchen, the noodles, the bread, the filtered water tap and the triple plug by the bed. Only the single room was available when I booked (same day). But it was absolutely perfect. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, and it was one of those rare times in Indonesia when there is actually proper hot water and really good pressure. Honestly, I wish I had stayed longer, but I had to get moving. Don't hesitate, just book here.

El personal fue encantador, siempre dispuesto a ayudar, y además me organizaron las excursiones al volcán Ijen y el traslado al aeropuerto. Muy buena experiencia, totalmente recomendable.

Reviewed Oct 26, 2025Great base to visit the Ijen crater and blue fire. Friendly family run homestay. Cosy feel and very reasonable price. Tours, laundry etc.. can all be organised by the accommodation via WhatsApp.
The walls are thin, so don't expect to get decent sleep. You can hear everything from the corridor and adjoining rooms, as well as a cacophonous call of prayer every few hours. In the double room, the shower curtain really needs throwing away 😅

Again the noise from call of prayer can be extreme, so earplugs recommend.

Reviewed Oct 11, 2025Le personnel est vraiment adorable !! Ils sont vraiment au petit soin et même s’ils ne comprennent pas beaucoup l’anglais, ils essayent de faire au mieux. Vous pouvez également discuté avec le responsable sur WhatsApp qui est réactif. Ils mettent à disposition du pain de mie, de l’eau fraîche etc. Il y a aussi un service de laundry. L’hôtel est plutôt bien placé. Les chambres sont propres, et on peut organiser le Mont Ijen depuis l’hôtel, prix correct. On recommande vraiment cet hôtel !!!!

Vor allem das Personal war super, der Host hat uns sehr sehr viel geholfen, bei der Organisation des Ijen-Trips auf eigene Faust.

From the moment I arrived, the staff could not do enough for me , spoke excellent English and made me feel so welcome calling me by my first name although I hadn't introduced myself, so they obviously make themselves very aware of the bookings. I had been to the Ijen crater trip and had been completely soaked. They dried my clothes and gave them back to me the same day. But the best was yet to come, I was worried about my onward trip to Bali where I was getting the ferry, the charming gentleman who I think owns the property ordered me a Grab taxi and arranged with the taxi to stay with me until I bought my ticket. I really can't remember the last time I had a service like this, it was excellent. Breakfast was really good as well. You just helped yourself, and there was cold water, tea, and coffee as much as you wanted. I really can't recommend this hotel enough it was homely, comfortable, and a very safe area. Thank you so much for looking after me so well. 🙏

The following very early morning one of them waited to help me order a grab/gocar to take a ferry to Bali. The sitting room is spacious & connected to a cooking area where drinking water is provided. The room itself is small but with adequate facilities & cleanliness to make me sleep well. I took a grab/gocar from the train station. I learned that order outside the train station will save parking fee for the grab/gocar Several beaches were within my walking distance.

Extremely clean, it has everything you need to prepare your own breakfast, hot water, it smells amazing, and the air conditioning works perfectly. Super comfortable, and the hosts were incredibly caring — they helped me with everything they could, such lovely people. There’s a water dispenser, they even provide shower sandals, shampoo and soap, and a big shelf full of books. I could have stayed there forever. By far the best option! So happy to have stayed at Ijen House.
Honestly, there’s nothing bad about it. Please don’t ever lose how amazing you are.

Reviewed May 1, 2025The place is so cosy, and every detail is taken care of attentively. Free noodles and bread are provided. The interior decoration is a big plus. The staff was very friendly and responded promptly, although there was nothing to be improved.
