Reviewed Mar 4, 2026We stayed for 6 nights in 'Kiwi' in mid-Feb. The hotel is beautiful, well maintained, & very clean. It's a stone's throw from Zicatela, and you can walk to La Punta in about 20 mins. The food/smoothies at the hotel cafe are tasty. The staff team are delightful. Our room was substantial, comfy bed, great WiFi and A/C, and a lovely small outside area with a plunge pool. It's a very small hotel so it's not like staying at a big place with a reception etc, it's a bit more like a guest house. Everyone is friendly and lovely, and we found the other guests to be quiet and chill, but just a heads up.
There is substantial, ongoing construction directly outside the hotel, which is out of their control but produces noise, dirt and disruption, especially if using the outside areas. If you're a light sleeper, it might not be the best location, but if you're an early riser and plan to be out exploring, you should be ok. We also felt our room was a bit worn out despite the hotel being new. We had some other issues which we fed back to hotel management who were responsive and supportive and we understand they have plans to improve the overall guest experience in the future.

Not a lot of eating spots within walking distance, but we rented a scooter and had no problem.

Le style architectural , moderne, et intime de l'hôtel Le petit déjeuner superbe, frais, des cakes à tomber, et la vue sur la mer Sur la plage le matin, les bébés tortues, à protéger des prédateurs.
Nous n'avons pas eu la chance d'une chambre avec terrasse, et la notre au rez de chaussée ne comportait qu'une ouverture. Alors qu'on était non loin de la plage, c'était assez déprimant, compte tenu du montant de 150 €. Le quartier est en pleine construction !!

La atención al clientes es muy buena. 100% recomendado. La playa está caminando de ahí no se puede nadar ya que es más abierto, pero casi siempre está sola lo cual está muy agusto para nomas irte a relajar
Estamos conscientes que esto está fuera de las manos de cada Badu, pero la casa de aún lado tiene un gallo que TODAS las mañanas cantaba por más de una hora, desde las 5-6 de la mañana

Reviewed Jan 17, 2026We absolutely loved this place! For us the absolute highlight was for sure the view from the rooftop terrace and pool. You have an ocean view and can watch the most beautiful sunsets there. Also the location was nice, not in the buzzy area of Punta but close enough to Punta and Zicatela. The rooms are pretty, spacious, very clean and everything is well designed. The owners are gold and we hope to be back one day soon!

Reviewed Dec 22, 2025Die Lage der Casa Badu ist sehr gut und der erste Eindruck ist durchwegs positiv. Das Zimmer ist sehr groß und die Hängematte ein nettes Extra. Das Bett ist groß und angenehm.
Die Terassentüren schließen nicht komplett, dadurch können Moskitos leicht ins Zimmer. Es gibt auch kein Moskitonetz. Die Dusche ist nicht sehr gut konstruiert - sobald man duscht, ist der komplette Badezimmerboden nass, inkl. der Bereich vor der Toilette. Durch die hohe Feuchtigkeit in Puerto trocknet der Boden auch nicht wirklich, was es meiner Meinung nach sehr unhygienisch macht. Das Pool am Dach ist eine nette Idee, aber es gibt nur 4 Liegen und der Pool ist enorm klein.

Reviewed Dec 20, 2025Really cool design and set up as a boutique stay with likeminded people. The owners have a great vibe, super friendly and helpful. The little gym, pool rooftop and honesty bar are great additions. I felt super comfortable and at home as a solo female traveller
The location is a 15/20 min walk away from the main strip which I personally wanted and liked but the walk at night isn’t well lit so you need a torch or a mode of transport. There is some building work next door (like a lot of PE - hard to avoid) so sometimes noise in the day but it’s one of those things.

Si hay que sacar un pero, el único sería el colchón siento que es muy blando y tal vez era difícil estar acomodarse.

Reviewed Dec 8, 2025The hotel was great, super close to a quieter part of the beach but close enough to the fun part of La Punta for dinners and drinks (5min in a cab). Staff super available and nice and connect us with a taxi contact available at any time and super quick.
The only thing was a very soft mattress, I prefer a more sturdy mattress. Besides that, all good!

Reviewed Dec 2, 2025I loved the aesthetics of the hotel. Paola and Laura helped so much in answering our requests or questions. It was far enough away from the main city, but close enough to rent a scooter to go around different places and restaurants. We loved how the hotel offered a PDF of different numbers and recommendations to do around the area.
It was close to the beach! We loved it, but the water was only for surfing or sub bathing. My husband and I could not go in the water, because the waves were to big. But, it helped when we rented the scooter to go to a different beach. Also, there was construction going on right next door, so it was a bit loud, but we were always out and about doing stuff.

Laura und Ulises sind herzliche und aufmerksame Gastgeber und waren sehr bemüht unseren Aufenthalt so schön wie möglich zu machen. Die Umgebung ist nicht so belebt wie der Rest von Puerto Escondido, das war für uns jedoch ideal und es gab trotzdem viele tolle Lokale in gehweite. Wir wären gerne länger geblieben - absolute Empfehlung für einen Aufenthalt in Puerto Escondido!
Die Zimmer sind etwas hellhörig, ansonsten alles perfekt!

Reviewed Nov 12, 2025Das Personal war sehr herzlich und bemüht. Es war modern und stylisch eingerichtet. Man hatte einen tollen Blick, vor allem beim Sonnenuntergang. Es war super nah am Strand gelegen und der Markt war direkt um die Ecke.
Wir hatten leider etwas Schimmel im Bad und es hat im Bad häufig muffig gerochen. Neben dem Hotel sind Bauarbeiten, die aufgrund des Presslufthammers wirklich laut waren und nicht wirklich zu unserer Entspannung beigetragen haben. Das Zimmer war recht dunkel und der Wäscheraum war direkt daneben, sodass es zusätzlich laut war, da man das Personal schon früh morgens hörte. Das zum Hotel gehörende Café bietet super Speisen an, die allerdings im Vergleich zu ähnlichen Cafés/ Restaurants in Puerto Escondido, recht teuer angeboten werden. Wir sind dann auf ein Frühstück in der Markthalle ausgewichen.

Internet war ok, nicht ideal zum arbeiten - Lage etwas abseits, man muss nach La Punta ein Stück laufen, dafür aber befestigte Straße vor dem Haus und sehr ruhig

La piscina vista spiaggia è ottima per rinfrescarsi e rilassarsi. Il ristorante lì sotto (Casa del surfer BADU) offre eccellenti colazioni r pranzi, e lo staff è molto gentile.

Reviewed Sep 8, 2025Absolutamente todo es maravilloso: la habitación tiene de todo lo necesario para una estancia perfecta (limpieza diaria, perfecto estado de conservación, detalles, a/c, terraza, agua diaria…); además las zonas comunes son maravillosas y, aunque la piscina no es muy grande, nunca hay nadie y tiene unas vistas increíbles; por último, el personal encantador en todo momento. Recomendable 100%!
Quizás algo alejado de la zona más comercial de restaurantes, a unos 10’ andando, pero es un paseo por las calles tan auténticas de Puerto Escondido.

La habitación tenia muy poca luz y en algunos momentos demasiada olor a humedad. La habitación se encuentra en la planta baja y las ventanas son muy estrechas, ubicadas en la parte superior de la pared impidiendo que entre mucha luz.

Mi vuelo salía un poco tarde así que fueron super flexibles para que pudiera usar las instalaciones un poco más. Está a 2 calles de la playa, y Casa Badú puede prestarte sillas y sombrilla 🫶🏼 hay una salita de lectura, terraza bar, un pequeño gimnasio, los desayunos y bebidas del Rest. de abajo deliciosos. Increíble super recomiendo, sin duda regresaré!

Reviewed Aug 6, 2025Es un alojamiento moderno bonito cuidado y limpio como las habitaciones son acorde a las fotografías espaciosa y la cama es muy cómoda. La ubicación es buena y tranquila justo enfrente de la playa. Los desayunos son excelentes aunque se trata de una cafetería externa al Hotel que cierra los domingos. La piscina está muy bien y hay zona de bar con self service. Personal muy amable. Facilitan cremas de sol sombrillas y sillas de playa para los huéspedes, así como toallas para piscina y playa
El Hotel no cuenta con ascensor, son solamente tres pisos pero si llevan maleta grande o carrito de bebé no es recomendable además la habitación con balcón y vistas al mar no merece mucho la pena porque no se ve demasiado el mar y el balcón no es muy íntimo pues está conectado con el resto del Hotel.

It is a bit too remote (the light went off for a whole day!) that’s the magic of being in a remote place I guess! Whilst we love wildlife there was a singing rooster at 4 am which was a bit too much! (Again little you can do about it!) I would put cold water around as it was boiling at all times !

Reviewed Jul 23, 2025Loved the pool and bar area! Nice shaded communal areas for lounging too. The staff were lovely and attentive. The cafe - casa del surfer, on site had amazing food. The hosts provide a guide to local restaurants/cafes too which was super helpful. Did a surf lesson with mapache surf adventures as recommended by casa badu and would highly recommend this too.
The only downfall was that the bathroom floor had some mold from being permanently wet. But otherwise great stay would definitely return

Reviewed Jul 15, 2025Loved the decor of the place and room! it was stunning and finished to a high standard! the pool felt like a private terrace. the owners were super helpful and instantly replied to all of our messages! we loved it and would come back again.
The location is in the middle of the beach, we liked not being in the busy areas but it was useful to hire a moped/bike to get around easily

Reviewed Jun 7, 2025The owners Laura and Ulises really do everything in their power so you have a comfortable stay. Truly exceptional place they built their. The views are amazing and they took amazing care of us and very clean! Also the little restaurant inside the hotel was very cute with amazing food.
The place is built so that outside and inside are really connected - this means that you can look through the huge handbuilt windows which is amazing, but unfortunately comes with one downside that is out of control of Laura and Ulises: you can hear the rooster and the dogs from the neighbors during the night. Pack some earplugs and you will be fine. During the day very calm place though!

Reviewed May 9, 2025Quite simply the best place we have stayed at. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the beds super comfy. We originally booked for one night and then extended a further two (we would have stayed for longer but it was fully booked - not surprisingly). The top floor of the building has a big open bar and rooftop pool space looking out over the sea which was our favourite spot. Laura and Ulises were the perfect hosts; helped us sort a bike rental and just great company. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough and will be staying here again as soon as I can.

The neighborhood of the hotel is not very well served: no cafes/bars/restaurants close (a minus especially for breakfast, since the hotel doesn’t provide it). However, you can be fully independent by renting a scooter; otherwise, moving by taxi is quite easy

Reviewed Apr 26, 2025The hotel is very good, few rooms but very well projected. Shower, WiFi worked perfectly which is good for the region in general. Bedroom is super comfortable and could have a few chat with the owner, very nice guy! There are a bar and small pool in the rooftop. A place that you feel like home, good energy. Location is great near from the 2 “centers” of Zicatella, one more calm with good beach clubs and the other with a lot of bars and restaurants. (~7min drive each).
There is no breakfast included and in our case the restaurant was closed.

This trip was to celebrate my best friends 30th birthday: Laura was receptive to me wanting to organise a cake, decorations and a bottle of Prosecco. When I arrived, they had it all ready and helped me decorate the room. The room was spacious and the overall architecture and design of the Casa is perfect. Its location is quiet and walkable with beautiful views and an on-site restaurant open Monday to Saturday , that had the best smoothies yum! What a great stay!

Reviewed Apr 14, 2025Lovely, intimate hotel. Instructions were clear and sent prior to the trip via WhatsApp for self check in, which was very easy. King room with terrace was spacious and full of light. Bed was comfy, wifi worked great. Bathroom could improve (shower door did not worked properly but it was fixed. There’s no shadow in the pool area. Nearest restaurant is 15-20 min walk.

Reviewed Apr 9, 2025Laura and Ulises (and Chula, their dog) were amazing hosts, super accommodating and were very helpful when we had travel difficulties from Oaxaca. They have great contacts for experiences in the area, we recommend surfing! The hotel was beautiful, very clean and we loved the ‘guest house’ vibe and laid back nature. There are also beach chairs and umbrellas available for use which was really helpful in the heat. The location was great, near lots of restaurants and bars and just a short taxi ride to swimmable beaches. The pool and view of the beach and sunsets made for a perfect stay.

Reviewed Jan 27, 2025This was one of the best experiences I've had staying somewhere. Ulysses and the entire staff are so accommodating, helpful, and friendly. My partner and I didn't want to leave this little slice of paradise. We loved spending time at the rooftop bar and pool, as well as eating meals at El Casa Del Surf downstairs. The room and facilities were always really clean and extremely comfortable - it was not hard to relax here. There is an in-ground cold plunge and on occasion free yoga classes as well which was a real treat. We will definitely be back. Ulysses also helped us get a surf lesson booked and was able to support us with all of our questions and needs.
In the mornings we were greeted by roosters and dogs barking, but it wasn't so bad - certainly nothing a pair of earplugs didn't fix.
