The beautiful, newly built property, the beautifully landscaped garden and the stunning swimming pool create an incredibly peaceful and inviting atmosphere. But what truly made our stay exceptional were the wonderful, kind and caring people. Their warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel welcome from the very first moment. The natural surroundings added an extra dimension to the experience. Watching monkeys playing in the trees, hearing the many different birds and simply enjoying the beautiful sounds of nature made it feel like a little piece of paradise. The breakfast deserves a special mention as well. Every morning was different, beautifully prepared and served in abundance. There was so much delicious food that we almost felt guilty when we couldn't finish everything! Our room was enormous, the beds were incredibly comfortable and the showers had wonderfully hot water — everything you could wish for after a day of exploring or simply relaxing. It was the perfect place to relax and finish our Sri Lankan adventure, and we would happily return without hesitation. Highly recommended!

Wat een geweldige villa is dit! Ontzettend groot zwembad, heerlijke tuin waar de pauwen en apen je in de ochtend en middag vermaken en een geweldig ruime villa. De gastheren waren ontzettend gastvrij en maken een heerlijk ontbijtje voor je klaar! Wij hebben er echt ontzettend van genoten!

Prachtige villa in de natuur! Vogels en aapjes in de bomen. Heerlijk zwembad. En het ontbijt was ook heerlijk! Wij hebben genoten!

Niks eigenlijk.... de ligging was wel wat achteraf maar dat vonden wij geen probleem. 15 min lopen of tuk tuk regelen.

Clean and hospitable hosts

We loved the peaceful location, beautiful swimming pool and, above all, the incredible hospitality of the family who run Villa Grove Shadow. From the moment we arrived we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The breakfasts were varied and delicious every morning, with a wonderful mix of fresh fruit and Sri Lankan favourites such as egg hoppers and roti. We also enjoyed a fantastic home cooked dinner at the villa to celebrate my wife’s birthday, which was one of the highlights of our stay. Waking up each morning to peacocks, monkeys and squirrels in the garden was something we’ll really miss. The villa felt safe, relaxing and had everything we needed, including kitchen facilities for preparing meals with our young children when we wanted a quiet evening in. The hosts kindly put us in touch with their brother, Samarajeewa, who drives a tuk tuk, and he made getting around effortless. He was always available when we needed him, took us all over (Unawatuna and Galle) with a smile, and our young children adored him, they looked forward to every journey in ‘the tuk tuk.’ We were fortunate to be the only guests during our stay, so it felt as though we had the beautiful grounds and pool entirely to ourselves. Villa Grove Shadow was the perfect base for our Sri Lankan holiday, combining wonderful hosts, fantastic food, a beautiful setting and an ideal location. We left with so many happy memories and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. If we’re lucky enough to return to Sri Lanka in the future, this will be the first place we look to book!

Het huis en de tuin waren prachtig onderhouden en heel schoon. Het ontbijt was fantastisch en Het personeel ontzettend behulpzaam en vriendelijk.het zwembad is zo heerlijk groot, onze kinderen hebben er enorm van genoten.

Alles! Een 10 op 10 voor deze accomodatie. Een vriendelijke gastheer, een ongelofelijk mooi en proper onderhouden zwembad. Een heerlijk ontbijt met slingerende apen op de achtergrond. Een badkamer in stijl. Een kamer met erg veel ruimte. Een bevriende tuktuk chauffeur bracht ons weg en weer. De wasmachine is ook een extra pluspunt. Maar nog eens: het zwembad met ligweide... waw

Helemaal niets!

This is a newly built, high spec villa with an amazing pool. The garden is home to lots of wildlife including chipmunks, monkeys and peacocks. There was a bird's nest under one of the lounger parasols when we stayed. The breakfast has good variety over the 5 nights we stayed.

Its worth being aware this is quite isolated, which was not a problem as we had a driver. Uber eats delivers takeaway in the evening without problem!

Everything about this place is amazing, the large spotless rooms , massive outdoor area which a huge breakfast is served , all the grounds, the pool and views are exceptional I cannot rate this place high enough I could have stayed another week. Great coms with the owner throughout , this place can't be beaten

Огромная личная территория. Большой бассейн. На территории виллы были павлины, варан, который грелся на солнце по утрам и прибегали очень красивые обезьяны очень дружелюбные. Завтраки великолепные, очень большие и вкусные. Нам подавали яичницу с тостами, огромную тарелку фруктов (манго, маракуйя, папайя, ананас, арбуз и бананы и это все сразу), десерты и разные блюда местной кухни. То что не могли съесть оставляли в холодильник. Вечером сами готовили морепродукты, на кухне (которая также полностью в вашем расположение) если всё что надо. Владелец очень дружелюбный, сразу обменялись контактами, всегда рад подсказать если есть вопросы. Сразу дал контакты тук-тукера. Мы не брали в аренду транспорт, поэтому нас возили до рынков и ресторанов на тук туке, все в 5 минутах езды, очень удобно. Забирали прям с виллы, а потом отвалили на неё же. В пешей доступности пляж с черепахами. Даже не смотрели заранее, просто пошли прогуляться, с там огромные черепахи на берегу плескаются. Впечатления не забываемые. Так же могу отметить что всегда есть питьевая вода, отличный WiFi по всей территории.

Really amazing property, by far my best stay in a month in sri lanka. Everything is made in super high quality, has amazing finishes, the pool could easily serve a beachclub. Its close to the beach, but yet it feels like you are in the middle of the jungle. The staff is also super friendly and helpfull.

Merci pour votre accueil et votre gentillesse. la villa est tout simplement magnifique. la machine à laver est très appréciable et les équipements de très bonne qualité. le jardin et la piscine sont magnifiques. Excellent Petit déjeuner (qualité et quantité), différent tous les matins, et préparé à l'heure que l'on souhaite. Le meilleur de notre séjour. Tout est entretenu tous les jours. Le personnel présent sur place toujours dispo pour quoi que ce soit. Nous recommandons les yeux fermés.

Все замечательно! Только самые положительные эмоции от виллы! Красивая территория, милые обезъянки, павлины! Чистые номера, приятное постельное белье, прекрасные завтраки. Здесь попытались все продумать до мелочей для комфортного отдыха. Хозяин всегда был на связи и оперативно решались любые вопросы! Бассейн вообще выше всяких похвал! В непогоду можно смело проводить там время и релаксировать . Отдыхали с тремя детьми и после пляжа дети с удовольствием плавали в бассейне! Очень переживала, что вилла находится не на первой береговой линии. Но на самом деле,в итоге,это больше плюс, чем минус! Добраться до пляжа не составляло никаких трудностей. До ближайшего пляжа менее 5ти минут на тук-туке или 10 минут пешком. До центрального пляжа Унаватуна-10 минут на туке. Вдали от суеты и шума, мы провели 7 дней в этом райском уголке. Спасибо большое 🩷 При возможности вернемся к вам еще!

This is an unbelievably beautiful villa, with a beautiful garden and an enormous pool. There are wild peacocks and monkeys in the trees in the garden and it very quiet and peaceful. The Villa is modern, spacious and very clean. Every morning the most amazing traditional Sri Lankan breakfast was made for us, with hoopers, curries, eggs, toast, roti and a huge platter of fresh fruit etc. The owner of the property is very kind and helpful and even bought us yoga mats to use! The Villa is right next to turtle bay where you can swim with turtles and only a 5 minute Tuk Tuk to Unawatuna! I highly recommend this villa and will be back!

Понравилось все! Очень чисто, современно, бассейн потрясающий, завтраки очень сытные, фруктов нам потом хватало на весь день. Хозяева очень быстро реагировали на все наши просьбы. Павлины, бурундуки, обезьянки, когда возвращаешься из шумной Унаватуны, попадаешь как будто в другой мир.

Действительно чистый и уютный дом, прекрасные завтраки. Чистый и всегда обслуженный бассейн. Приятные и корректные хозяева и персонал. При жалобе на ночной шум от кондиционера в этот же день приехали специалисты и перевесили кондиционер в другое место, удлиннив трассу, шум прекратился.

We enjoyed our 5-day stay very much. The rooms are very spacious and the bathroom is beautifull. Unfortunately no hot water from the shower in the morning but because of hot weather also not necessary. Breakfast was good, also for kids. Best part of accomodation is the swimming pool. Very large, children loved it! Host was very willing to help, allthough english was litlle poor.

Абсолютное спокойствие и приватность. Это лучшее место, в котором мы жили за время отдыха на Шри-ланке. Номера имеют выход на собственную террасу. Великолепный бассейн с гидромассажем. Хозяин организовал нам барбекю. В номере есть фен, стиральная машина и сейф. Великолепные завтраки (блинчики с кокосом и карри- моя любовь). Всегда хороший напор горячей воды. Очень красивая территория. Павлины и обезьяны постоянные гости. очень хорошее расположение в пяти минутах от пляжа черепах. Даже магазин, возле поворота от главной дороги к вилле, включал все, что только может понадобиться путешественнику в дороге. Хозяин помогал во всех вопросах.

We had a beautiful upper floor with a huge balcony where we were able to watch playing monkeys and beautiful peacocks. Host family prepared us wonderful Sri Lankan breakfasts.

We had an amazing stay at this villa in Unawatuna. The property is located away from the busy tourist area and main beach, which makes it very peaceful. The villa itself is two floors, surrounded by a large, well-kept garden full of greenery and flowers. There is a beautiful big swimming pool with a lounge area and sunbeds. Walking around the garden we saw peacocks, monitor lizards, squirrels, and monkeys. The monkeys are very polite and keep to themselves, which made the atmosphere even more special. It really feels like living in the jungle, but everything is clean and well maintained. The villa design is tasteful, combining traditional Sri Lankan style with modern comfort. Every detail is made for guests to feel relaxed. We rented the first floor, which has two huge bedrooms with air conditioning, fans, comfortable beds, clean sheets and towels. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with hot water, hairdryer, and one even has a washing machine. Between the bedrooms there is a closed kitchen and an open living area. The kitchen has a fridge, all necessary equipment and dishes. All rooms connect to a big terrace, where we enjoyed spending time. The Wi-Fi was very fast (100 Mbps in my test). Every morning we had a rich and varied Sri Lankan breakfast, with curry and lots of fresh seasonal fruits. Eating on the sunny terrace while watching animals and birds nearby was unforgettable. The location is also convenient. In about 10 minutes walking you reach the main road with a small supermarket, fruit shop, and bus stop. Buses run every 5–10 minutes. Nearby is the entrance to Dalawella Beach, where you can go early in the morning and see sea turtles swimming close to the shore in clear water. Thanks to the architecture and the natural layout, we felt like we had the villa to ourselves and hardly met the guests from the second floor. Everything was very private and quiet. Finally, we want to thank the owner and his team.

That it is too far away from where i live

The property was beautiful, set in lush gardens with an amazing swimming pool. It was clean and spacious. Amazing breakfast and the hosts were super helpful.

This was the most beautiful place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The owner is very kind and helped us arrange tuktuks and a car with driver. The breakfast was delicious and different every day so we got to try many different foods and ate a lot of fresh fruit. It was also a lot of food so we had enough for breakfast and lunch. The location is amazing. You are 5 minutes from the city centre by tuktuk. It is very calm, peaceful and serene, surrounded by forest. We saw a lot of peacocks, squirrels, birds and even some monkeys. The pool is very big (you can easily have a good morning workout by swimming in the pool) and clean and amazing for relaxing. It is shallow on one side and deeper on the other so it is also appropriate for children. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are incredibly clean. The wifi worked the best of all the places we stayed in on the island and this apartment also had the best water pressure in the shower (in the other places that we stayed in the pressure was very bad but here it was good). I definitely recommend this place if you are planning to come to Sri Lankas west cost😀 we will definitely come back!

Это лучшая вилла, однозначно! 1. Идеально чистый, огромный бассейн с гидромассажем и подсветкой, вода нехлорирована, можно купаться круглосуточно. 2. Большая, ухоженная территория. Уже писали про павлинов и обезьянок. Все так и это добавляет аутентичности ! 3. Нереально огромные, разнообразные завтраки; было очень приятно и интересно пробовать местные блюда, нам оставалось еще и на обед. 4. Очень приятный хозяин и его семья, которые всегда готовы помочь. 5. Сами комнаты и вилла - все новое; сделано с любовью и заботой, все есть, если чего-то нет- всегда можно попросить. 6. Расположение - идеальное. В пешей доступности до черепашьего пляжа, но при этом в тишине. Поверьте, лучше не жить здесь на 1 или 2 улице. Там очень тесно, каждый метр используется, по вечерам шумно. Я была очень рада, что вечером мы уходили на нашу тихую виллу и в тишине можно было насладиться пением птиц. 7. К нам на виллу пришла черная кошечка и очень «прижилась» там за это время. Она молодая, очень ласковая и очень тяготеет к рукам. Похожа на маленькую пантеру. Пожалуйста, не обижайте ее! Подкармливайте:) ведь кошки привыкают к месту! Я буду очень рада, если последующие гости в своих отзывах напишут пару слов про кошку и поделятся фото. Я назвала ее Китти.

Вилла просто шикарная, удобные, чистые, просторные номера, красивая ванная, все новое, прекрасный бассейн где вам точно захочется провести больше времени, территория по соседству с природой, гуляют павлины, неподалеку обезьянки прыгают. 🙈 Все зелёное красивое, гостеприимный и дружелюбный персонал и хозяева, а какие вкусные завтраки были, нам их хватало и на обед. В целом мы действительно в восторге от этого места и если вернемся на Шри ланку то точно туда ❤️ До центрального пляжа можно доехать на туке за 10 минут (цена небольшая), или дойти пешком до черепашьего и далавелы (15минут) Хозяева все подскажут и помогут с любым вопросом, спасибо огромное 💕

So beautiful, all the facilities were very modern. Very clean and maintained daily. The breakfasts were a highlight - so exciting to try new delicious Sri Lankan food every morning at any time.

During our visit to Sri Lanka, this was undoubtedly the best stay we had. Host Prasanna and his assistant was absolutely brilliant. Location was simply the best with nature's best. Wild peacocks, brigade of monkeys and lots of colorful birds were plenty. it was delight to watch all these early hours of everyday. Breakfast was brilliant, we could select what we needed everyday, papaya, pineapple, bananas, water melons and fabulous mangoes were a every day treat with our breakfast. King coconuts were just picked from the garden. Galle Fort, Unawatuna Beach, Dalawella beach and various other locations are just a TUK TUK drive away. We highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Unawatuna area.

Amazing stay at the villa grove shadow. Beautiful villa in a great spot tucked away off the main road. Very peaceful and whole place is well manicured with great rooms and facilities. Extraordinary breakfast each morning.

Everything in the Villa was spectacular. From the amazing pool, the brand new rooms and furniture, the commodities, the location of the house, and most importantly, the hospitality of the owner’s family were 10 out of 10!! Also, the breakfast was great. We fell in love with this house and couldn't recommend it more. If we ever come back to Sri Lanka, this will be our home again. Thank you for everything!!
