Riad Atay

The staff was very friendly and always willing to be of help, breakfast was good and accommodations were very comfortable. I had the best three nights sleep I’ve had in a long time! The plunge pool was extremely refreshing after spending several hours at different times touring or walking in the 100+ degree temperatures. Location within the Medina was central and convenient walking to the square, restaurants and other sites within the Medina.

Those with limited mobility should be aware of the location, as vehicles are not permitted past certain key points in the Medina.

Het personeel was uitzonderlijk vriendelijk en stond altijd klaar om alles tot in de puntjes voor ons te regelen. Dankzij hun betrokkenheid voelden we ons direct welkom en volledig verzorgd. Een speciale dank aan Zakaria en Youssef voor hun goede zorgen en hulp tijdens ons verblijf.

Absolutely nothing

Excellent location for the medina. Staff were very helpful both before we arrived in arranging the airport transfer to when we left. The decor and furnishings in the Road were great. The breakfast was excellent. They also catered for my wife who doesn’t eat gluten or dairy.

A very peaceful oasis in the heart of the medina. An amazing location. The riad is very tastefully done and the staff are so helpful. We ate in a couple of times and the food was delicious.

Being British we would have liked a kettle in the room so we could have tea when we wanted. But that is all really!

This was a little piece of heaven after a day of adventures in the surrounding Souks and walking tours we did. You would never know you were in the midst of it all. Slept so well and was able to relax on the rooftop terrace after a day of colourful chaos. Loved it 💕 Abraham was especially attentive and a wealth of knowledge. Thank you

Отличный сервис, у нас был раний выезд на тур и нам предоставили индивидуальный завтрак раньше по времени чему мы были очень очень благодарны! Внутри чисто, уютно , Рияд дарит ощущения комфорта, тепла и уюта. Отличное место и сокровище посреди городской суеты.

This was a stylish and relaxing oasis in the centre of the bustling medina. The rooftop is exceptional for sunning and breakfast with generous loungers. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. You get plenty of privacy and the full Riac experience.

Das Licht im Bad war etwas schummerig.

Joli endroit, personnel adorable mais hors de prix par rapport aux prestations. En payant le double de ce à quoi je suis habituée, je m'attendais à de l'espace, du luxe presque comme les photos le laissaient présager mais pas du tout La chambre est très petite, les robinets restent en main quand on les tourne etc.. J’ai payé 100€ pour une enorme suite dans la Palmeraie ( avec piscine) Malheureusement cela me disuade de revenir

Le Riad est idéalement situé au centre de la Médina. L’accueil était parfait, sourire et gentillesse. Petit déjeuner local et copieux. Organisation arrivée et départ au top.

Un petit souci avec la cheminée qui fumait beaucoup. Il est effectivement rare de s’en servir en Janvier. Une prise de courant sur 2 ne fonctionnaient pas dans la chambre.

My stay at Riad Atay was truly one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had in Morocco. From the very first moment I arrived, I felt more like a guest in a Moroccan home than a visitor at a place to stay. The riad is absolutely stunning, authentic architecture, peaceful atmosphere, spotless rooms, and a feeling of calm that you rarely find in the heart of the city. What made the experience unforgettable, though, was the people, especially the manager, Mohamed. He is genuinely one of the kindest, most respectful, and most professional people I’ve met while traveling. He treated me with so much care and attention, always smiling, always ready to help, and always making sure everything was perfect. You can clearly see how kind he is not only to guests, but to everyone around him, staff and visitors alike. Every detail during my stay was handled with warmth and sincerity. From helpful recommendations, to small thoughtful gestures, to simply feeling welcomed every single day, everything was done with heart. It’s rare to find a riad where hospitality feels this natural and genuine.

Riad Atay is stylish, comfortable, quiet, with excellent service. Lovely terrace where we had a delicious breakfast. Large, comfortable bed. Excellent shower. The decor throughout is authentic Moroccan - I think Berber - austere, simple, luxurious and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the really friendly staff. It is in the heart of the souk but very quiet. I highly recommend.

Beautiful riad. We enjoyed it The staff is very kind, they met us for everything we needed. The terrace is a little perfection, the rooms are wonderful. Breakfast excellent It was wonderful.

Malheureusement le jour de notre arrivée il pleuvait très fort. Le taxi nous a laissé très loin. Pas d’indication et de nom du Riad même devant la porte. Dans la chambre où dormait mon fils a dormi une canalisation a dû se casser et il n’a pas pu bien dormir à cause du bruit

The location was very central, and the entrance was off the beaten track, but very easy to find; well located to just about every place you’d want to go. The staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. It was truly a peaceful haven in a very busy environment. Calming! Elegant decor, which was a relief from the busyness outside. Lovely seating area outside our room where I had some mint tea and relaxed before bedtime. We had one of smallest rooms, but we were very happy with it. Romantic, very comfortable, good water pressure in shower. Bedding was superb. Comfortable pillow, warm and cosy. Delicious simple but plentiful breakfast.

Das Personal ist sehr herzlich, das Riad liegt zentral und man erreicht alles schnell, zudem ist die Einrichtung etc. wirklich wunderschön.

Eine kleine Nebensache: Das warme Wasser braucht manchmal recht lang, und das Riad ist etwas hellhörig, sodass man morgens schon Geräusche von draussen mitbekommt. Insgesamt aber nichts Dramatisches.

The first thing that you note entering the door, is the extreme good taste of the interiors: a unique blend of styles, Berber/Saharian and minimalist /chic: white and grey in the walls, furniture and sculptures in carved wood, beautiful textiles( carpets and cushions), green plants, and a reflecting small pool in an alcove in the courtyard. The rooftop is the icing on the cake: day-beds under berber tends provide a wonderful setting both for resting and for eating exquisite breakfast and dinner; the service was unbeatable, and the kindness of the staff extraordinary. Last but not least, the entire place was spotlessly clean and the maintenance perfect. It's our third visit in Marocco, and Riad Atay is certainly the best we ever been until now. (Only 5 rooms, book in advance!)

It’s very hard to find so get good directions before you come. It’s down a slightly dodgy looking alleyway and tunnel but we had no issues and always felt safe even returning. At night The manger could not be more helpful.

Riad Atay was an absolutely stunning and peaceful place to stay, offering a calm retreat from the noise of the old town. The staff were friendly and helpful, assisting us with all our questions. The location was also excellent, although the alley leading to Riad Atay’s front door is quite a unique experience.

It would have been nice to be able to properly lock the room door, as it only had a latch and could only be locked from the inside when someone was in the room. So anyone can enter the room when you are absent. Although there was a safety box in the room.

I returned here after a great first stay. It’s such a peaceful oasis and the staff is so lovely. Look no further and book this place. :)

It’s an oasis of calm inside the medina. It’s at the end of a narrow alley, so it’s quiet inside. They can organise an airport pick up and luggage carrier for you, which I recommend as the place would otherwise be somewhat difficult to find (as is the case in most places in the medina). The soundproofing from the room towards the common area is not excellent, so bring some ear plugs if you are a (very) light sleeper like me. However, the inner courtyard is very peaceful and quiet, and you can’t hear anything from other rooms. The rooftop is also amazing. They serve breakfast there. I also had dinner there once, which as excellent (restaurant quality). The staff is also lovely. Zachariah, who has helped me out in particular, is a gem!

The hosts gave us a warm welcome and treated us to tea and delicious traditional sweets upon arrival. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of the medina and just a short walk from all the main attractions. Our room was exceptionally clean, and filled with a fresh scent. The staff were incredibly friendly, and always ready to help with anything we needed. A special mention to Zacharia, who served our breakfast each morning, he was exceptionally kind and attentive! Breakfast was served on the rooftop, offering a generous, traditional spread with fresh bread and many other delicious things! A truly memorable stay!

We really liked RiadAtay, I can only recommend it to everyone! Perfect service, friendly staff. Clean and excellent in every respect. We will definitely come back here. Thank you for the unforgettable days!!!!

We loved everything about the place. Friendly and efficient staff, great breakfast, comfortable beds, peace and quiet.

The property is well kept generally and the aesthetics pleasing. The rooftop is a cool area to chill and breakfast up there was very pleasant & beautifully presented. The staff are so genuinely kind and friendly. Extremely convenient for exploring the medina.

This is my general dislike about Marrakech and unfortunately doesn’t discount Riad Atay, it all just felt dusty I guess it is the desert after all but it did affect my comfort and relaxation. For example the cushions on the rooftop need a good shaking before I could use them. Our bathroom was abit too dark I think a brighter bulb would have helped.

Riad Atay is a little haven amidst the chaos of the city. It’s like coming to a peaceful home.

Ground floor room a little noisy in the morning!

We had such a good time staying in Riad Atay. The Riad is stunning and if you want a real traditional experience then stay here… the Medina is so close by and the breakfast is amazing. Rooms are clean and the stand out for us was the hospitality - Simo and the rest of the team are incredibly hospitable. We felt so welcome and Simo helped us with taxis / restaurant recommendations etc. As a couple, we would definitely stay here again!

We had some trouble 2 of the nights with scammers telling us we are going the wrong way as you have to walk through Souks to get to the Riad. We realised towards the end of the stay that walking through Ben Youssef is the best way home with no scammers! Nothing to do with the Riad but more so location and a heads up!

Friendly helpful staff, beautiful interior of the riad, the rooms and rooftop, the central location and still very quiet. Delicious breakfast served at the table on the rooftop. All so nice!

Nothing really to dislike

The personnel was extremely polite and helpful with us!!!! From our arrival till our departure they were there to help us with everything! We highly recommend Riad Atay for a pleasant stay in Medina! Close to all the places of interest and really adorable!

Breakfast was great. Room was big. It was quiet almost all the time, except you would be woken by the call to prayer at sunrise which we were OK with, my wife called it the Medina alarm clock! Staff were super friendly and helpful. We took dinner on the first night which was very nice and easy for us. Absolute must is booking the taxi from the airport through the hotel, it would be impossible to find otherwise and it's not expensive. Overall very good experience and would definitely return.

No TV in the rooms, so if you wanted to chill after being out all day and watch a movie then you'll need laptop/notebook/tablet or your phone. Internet isn't great and that's the same all over the Medina we paid the extra for roaming on our phones which is reasonably expensive (I think around £20 a day, you can buy a local sim card). No alcohol sold in hotel or any shops in the Medina, there are several roof top bars that you can go but you usually need to book in advance and it's reasonably expensive. If want to relax with a bottle of vino at the hotel after a busy day sightseeing then you need to be organised. I think they'll probably put it in one of the fridges as the rooms don't have any, we didn't ask as we couldn't find anywhere to buy any. It was hard to find, almost every day we struggled with the final approach, I'm sure we would have cracked it in another day or two. The entrance is down a narrow darkish alleyway which is quite intimidating at first but you do get used to it once you've acclimatised to the Medina madness!

Everything was amazing. From arrival to departure the staff were incredible, all of them. The Riad was super clean and so beautifully decorated! The breakfast was very good and the atmosphere even more amazing! Simo, Mouad, Reda (the night guard), Sheyme and the other lady were all amazing!!! A real credit to the hotel! Sibel was extremely helpful prior to arriving there! Thank you to everyone truly!

We loved everything really, there wasn’t something that we could fault. Everyone and everything were superb! Also, everyone helped with their local knowledge and tips!

The Riad is recently refurbished and in beautiful condition. It’s an oasis of calm, elegant tranquility in the heart of the bustling Medina. Traditional Moroccan breakfast served on the roof terrace was lovely. Simo, Moad, Reda & the rest of the team were all great & really welcoming.

Not a dislike, but the Riad is hard to find. It’s down a tiny alleyway and can’t be reached by car. Your taxi will drop you at College Mohamed 5 & you must walk from there.
