Hurstmere Cottage, Matakana

We had a great stay. The house was unlocked when we arrived, which made the check-in process hassle-free. It is situated in a beautiful location on the host's property and is far enough away to provide plenty of privacy. The property was easy to find and had all the amenities we required. The host was very accessible and always responded quickly to any questions we had. town was just a 5 min drive away.

Quaint accommodation with nice rural outlook, and beautifully decorated in a restored barn. Super comfy beds, and 2 full bathrooms were great for family of 4. Even better than the photos, and very spacious too! Despite rainy weather, the cottage provided a lovely home away from home. Would certainly stay here again, and imagine in the summer months would be lovely with all the trees surrounding the property.

A few minor points - no coffee, few rolls of toilet paper, but easily remedied with nearby supermarket trip. One lightbulb was also blown, and note, one of the showers didn't drain too well. If you have elderly, the showers may also be a tad inaccessible as require a step up.

Fantastic location. Our group ranged from 1yr - 55yr olds (and a dog!) and everyone loved the property. Had everything you could want, much more space than anticipated, great having the 2 full bathrooms, super warm (in the middle of winter!) and Carla and Steve were so easy to communicate with and made the whole experience welcoming and wonderful. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Location was perfect - close enough to the village, but far enough away. Good walks from the house.

Lovely rural setting close to the village. They modern country renovation and fit out is beautiful. And the beds super comfortable.

Peaceful, lush, private - exceptional hosts. Well-appointed kitchen and beds were incredibly comfortable. Great for families or friends gathering ready for a memorable stay. Wifi, power, and hot water also worked well even through storms. BBQ was large and effective and plenty of firewood provided for memories around the bonfire.

Can get a bit buggy if you don’t close the windows overnight ;)

Beautiful peaceful surroundings. Cottage extremely well appointed with lovely toiletries. Very comfortable beds.

Liked the layout of cottage and the cost feeling. It satisfied all the needs of the Bridal and Groom party. Everyone were impressed with the facility. The hairdresser and make-up people said they will recommend Hurstmere Cottage to Brides to be.

We found the BBQ not working, no light in laundry room and a suggestion to put sign up how to use the hob.

Beautiful property, great setup an well equipped.

Wifi too slow to use for live streaming etc. not a big deal tho!

Great location, a few minutes from Matakana. The cottage is set almost 1km off the road and is in such a peaceful and tranquil setting. Horses, cows and chickens set the scene as well as a super friendly border collie. The cottage itself has such a relaxed and open vibe. Being a converted barn it has high ceilings which add a sense of spaciousness. Everything well equipped and enjoyed the firepit and toasted marshmallows on our last night. We will hopefully come back to this property for future holidays. We were 4 adults and 2 young kids and a teenage daughter. We had heaps of space and loved being able to take walks around the propery. Super friendly host as well.

Wonderful country location and close to main shopping area.Grandaughter loved all the animals . SO peaceful and private.Very spacious.

Didn't quite understand the access to the attic was by pull down stairs and while the venue was accessible for wheel chair there was no way anybody disabled could access the showers.Actually feel might need grab rails in the shower or by the toilet of anyone unsteady...or old :)

It was such a sweet cottage and a gorgeous situation

Three bedrooms were great, I just hadn’t read properly that the 4th bedroom was up the stairs which was a wee bit interesting.

It was beautifully layed out and had wonderful flow inside and out. The children loved staying up in the loft and thought this was great! They also enjoyed going for a walk around and meeting the horses. We even managed to leave a pillow behind and had it easily arranged to be returned.

Loved the location out in the country, yet short drive to town. Nice layout of cottage. Everything was comfortable and easy to use. Hosts were lovely and helpful!

I would just suggest some coat hooks or something, maybe more closet hangers

The cottage is in a beautiful location with lots of animals in surrounding fields. Living space in the property is lovely.

The bed my husband and I slept in was so uncomfortable we stayed elsewhere on the second night of our stay in matakana. The rest of our family were ok so perhaps we were just unlucky with the bed we chose. The back room and rear bathroom smelled damp as did the baby travel cot. Lots of cobwebs in cupboards. Lots of random stuff stored all over the place. No microwave.

It was very well presented and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you needed. Was cosy but still had enough room for the whole family.

Plenty of space. Clean and well laid out with all modern conveniences. Hosts were very kind - dropping off coffee pods, and some good dry wood for the fire pit out in the garden.

This spacious comfortable cottage is set in a beautiful rural location only minutes from Matakana.

The house was a lot bigger than I thought. 2 bathrooms was ideal as we had 5 people getting ready for a wedding. Outdoor area looked nice too, shame about the weather.

Not supplied Loved being harrased by the sheep dog that chases cars. Brought up on farms so fully understand farm dog peculiarities.

Drive way a bit ove grown. A bit of pruning back so branches don't scratch car paintwork . A bit more explicit signage. Thereare a lot of possible wrong turns. I guess the neighbors are used to stray people coming up their drive . The TV is somewhat difficult for seniors to get going. (We couldn't work it out.)

Absolutely stunning location - the kids loved exploring. We were in Matakana for a wedding and we honestly couldn’t have asked for better accommodation. Having two full bathrooms was perfection!

The location is close to Matakana Village and is easy to find with great instructions on how to get there. It is lovely and private and has all the facilities you need, also very clean. It is very good value for money as it sleeps 9 people, but just be aware that the loft area as you will see in the photos has a very steep ladder - I would suggest that area be used for teenagers rather than young children or more mature adults.

A couple of my friends weren't comfortable with the climb to the loft, but this is no fault of the hosts as there is a picture of it.

Carla the owner was an absolute delight, we felt welcome straightaway and she was super helpful.

Location was good - very close to village but private. 3 bedrooms was great as we (3 women) had a room each. 2 bathrooms great too. It had a very good kitchen with large fridge/freezer, modern appliances and nice crockery etc, living space was comfortable. Very private, farm setting, fire pit and BBQ. Quiet, lots of trees and greenery. Host was very responsive. Excellent facilities.

Only minor things eg for me the pillows did not work well. One of the showers didn't drain well. Gravel road, so the car needed to be cleaned but really these are minor compared with the excellent facilities and proximity to the village, galleries, Omaha beach et.

Peaceful and tranquil spot, close to Matakana and Omaha beach, nice big kitchen, comfortable beds.
