Reviewed Jul 20, 2026Very conveniently located. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We appreciated arriving and finding the home nice and warm with the heat pump turned on for us. Check in was very easy with a lock box.
We thought 4pm was a late check in, especially with a fairly early 10am check out. However, we were able to check in a little early which was really appreciated.

Reviewed May 25, 2026This was such a tidy, clean and very comfy place to stay. The hosts were lovely and so kind. The bed downstairs was the best bed I've ever slept in! The shower was amazing and sooooo clean! Great location. Looking forward to our next stay here.

• Couch wasn't comfortable • Shower wasn't great as the pressure and hot / cold option weren't correctly set, even mostly set to cold it was so hot, and when making the water cold the pressure was lost

Reviewed Jul 7, 2025Excellent location in the middle of Methven, handy to supermarket and next door to the Blue and Brown pubs - we ate in the Brown pub. Double height living space had a nice feel. Small kitchen was well equipped - had everything we needed. Off street parking was handy a couple of times but access is a little tight. Parking on the street was no bother too. Nice drive up the mountain. Both double rooms were excellent. Owner was responsive and helpful.
The chalet is a great little design but isn't well insulated. Heating is through an air-con style heat pump that blows warm air into the double height living room. Heat rises and I think mostly goes out through the roof. We found it difficult to keep the place warm.

Front fence was too tall for any of us to easily reach the gate lock from the outside. Leather couch is nice but super slippery so not actually user friendly.

Blind on roof window in the upstairs double bedroom was not sufficient to block out light (broken). Couch in the living room was quite uncomfortable. Looks cool but not very comfy.

Reviewed Apr 21, 2025Modern and nicely decorated, very comfortable, board games for the kids & magazines. Nice outdoor space, which gets great sun - would be lovely in summer. Great Location—30-second walk to the pub! But still quiet and private. Plenty of on-street parking, as well as two parking spaces in the driveway. Lovely neighbourhood—quick 2-minute walk to the playground and centre of town—ideal. Opuke Hot Pools are a must-visit, 15-minute walk or 2-minute drive from the chalet!
Stairs might be a bit of a hazard for younger kids; there was no gate at the top of the stairs, and the kid's room door opens to the top of the stairs.

Reviewed Jan 13, 2025Location great, the house was awesome for our family of five, and had a fantastic amount of cooking equipment. Nice outdoor area with BBQ and having two toilets was great. We really enjoyed the property.
Whist the pillows were lovely and quite new and 'plump', they are far too fat and not practical for kids (or adults), the kids had to sleep with the decorative small square pillows which are far thinner.
