The Brown Pub

AM and PM noise issued, tired & dated decor, it was clean but not spotless and the bedroom door locks were either faulty or hard to use so as a female solo traveller did not feel safe.

위치가 매우 좋음. 중심가라서, 사방에 먹을 곳도 많고, 스키타러 가는 버스를 바로 맞은편에서 탈 수 있음. 주차 공간도 매우 넉넉함.

아이와 함께라서 조용한 방으로 배정해달라고 사전 요청했는데 가장 시끄러운 5번 방으로 배정되어, 소음으로 인해 잠을 자기 어려웠음.

noise from the pub downstairs up to 10pm (but this was a known when booked). Shared Kitchen has microwave, toaster, kettle but no hot plate or oven.

Good, inexpensive rooms over a downtown pub. Easy access to central business district. Nice common lounge and kitchen. Very quiet in the off-season (non ski season).

Had a small issue finding someone to check me in at the listed check-in time. An employee from the Blue Pub across the street had to locate a key to let me in.

The location very close by the shops in the township the meals couldn't fault were value for money

Toilets as you entered property were stinky which started the experience on the wrong foot. I am probably not the best person to rate it’s not my standard kind of accomodation so don’t take my rating too seriously

I picked the wrong time to stay as all night long for my second night. Tractors and trailers were up and down the road all night until about 3am

The building is located in the perfect place and could watch the street views from the window. Also could sit in the balcony to enjoy the meals which is wonderful. There are several shower rooms and toilets. The room is quite. There's a free bottle water in the room. It's easy to order food from downstairs bar.

Price, cleanliness and location

When I arrived at about 1pm the place was all shut up and no staff available. I telephone the contact number but couldn't get through to anyone. I eventually got in about 4pm after being told by a staff member of the accommodation across the road that I should go into the bottle store to see a member of staff who would let me in the pub. There were no instructions about booking in this way on either the pubs website or my booking confirmation from booking.com. Disappointing, as I'd just rode 4 hours in the rain (which was set in for the day) and I wanted somewhere dry and comfortable where I could dry off and get changed. Instead I had to sit in the café in my wet clothes for nearly 3 hours before getting into my room. Im sure this is just a communication oversight somewhere . I was very happy with the staff and facilities once I did get in.

Central and simple to stay at! I felt very safe as a single solo woman.

The place has been renovated with comfortable beds and the shared bathrooms are good in comparison with other places I’ve stayed.

Friendly staffs, restaurant onsite as we arrived with hungry kids from long drive and it was convenient we ordered when we arrived, food was tasty and yummy, bed comfy, place was clean, it was close to everything, great place for family and kids, highly recommend

Stay was short but we planned for a winter trip and will be back to stay longer and enjoy the place better

Mi è piaciuta la struttura ben fatta e tenuta molto bene! Sempre comodo il parcheggio sul retro con una porticina si accede dal lato per salire su alle stanze, quindi facile portare le valigie in camera, stanza accogliente!

Location to Mt Hutt was great

The window above door to hall had no curtain. When people turned hall lights on in early hours of morning it kept waking us up as shines straight into room.

The place was very friendly and clean. The location was excellent, completely central to Methven.

The kitchen facilities were lacking, which means the best you can do is microwave meals or 2 min noodles. So plan accordingly if travelling on a budget.

Clean and un cluttered, kitchen and lounge including deck area. Comfy bed. Clean shower,own bathroom.

More soap in bathrooms would be great. Additional bedding would have been great. An oven and range in the kitchen would have been great.

It was in the centre of town. Convenient to food places and good pub meal.

It was fine and served its purpose but very basic. Ie No light bulb in wall light. There is an internal window that lets the hall lights into your room. There can be turned off but then the hall is dark for others. Weekend nights just remember you’re in a pub and across the road from a pub so you will hear noise. Otherwise the room itself was comfortable and clean.

meal was very average for the price. Steak was beautifully cooked but just came with fries and egg. Door to guest quarters needs oiling badly as squeaks terribly. very limited menu. No complimentary milk for tea & coffee. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Real old school character and charm to building. Bed very comfortable.

Very nice place. I just had some challenges about toilets and showers in need of a renovation. The room was very clean and comfy, views were very, very nice.

Large room big bed. No tv and have to share bathroom with 2 other rooms but still good value for money

I’ve been through Methven a number of times but never stayed in town overnight, but the Brown Pub was a pleasant surprise, classic pub hotel, the food was excellent and staff as well. My room was much nicer than the photo, people in the pub were friendly and not rowdy, would definitely stay here again!

Very handy for what I needed it for ((a night couple of day's out of ChCh I would've stayed Monday if I didnt have prior commitments. Staff are amazing, facilities clean as. Spacious as 👍 thank you for that I felt absolute spoiled. I will come down for a feed next stay it's just I'd bought kai from home. Comfortable as AND my friend's are interested I always share great awe how to say 🤔 experiences again thank you. Ah the booking was so easy
