Conveniently located to Udawalawe Park. Hotel staff arranged an early morning safari for us and also packed a breakfast to go. The room was large and comfortable with a modern bathroom The pool was a pleasant area to relax after touring during the day. Breakfast and the dinner we had on site were delicious

The balcony was unusable due to the heat generated by the ac unit. The pool loungers could have had cushions to be more comfortable.

Fantastic property, very close to the entrance to Udawalawe national park. The accommodation was clean, modern, and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly, helpful, and organised our safari, transport to the next area, and food for our safari.

Location was close to Udawalawe National park, convenient for safari. Lovely swimming pool with spa bubbles. Huge comfortable room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Didn't have breakfast but takeaway was provided for our early morning safari. Very tasty Sri Kankan dinner supplied.

Hotel is small with limited guests so no bar, so drink choices for dinner were limited.

Good location, saw many elephants, really happy with the hotel and very warm pool.

No fridge in room, staff hovered uncomfortably close to our table watching us eat all meals, which was very off putting and unnerving. This made the family want to finish all meals as soon as possible to escape the uneasy situation at meals times.

Great location. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We had fresh jackfruit from their tree. The pool was clean and refreshing.

Would benefit from a little more cleaning although this wouldn’t put me off staying again. Just the surfaces needed a little clean.

We booked this less that 24h before arriving due some changed plans. The room was clean and large with a lovely bathroom and good, hot shower. We were welcomed with homemade juice on arrival and the hosts organised a sunrise safari for us for the next morning pretty much immediately. The children loved the pool. It was super close to the entrance gate of the safari which mean't we were one of the first jeeps through the gates. The staff were helpful and kind. Its close to a few different restaurants and they are happy to take you or organise a tuktuk if you don't have a driver.

We ordered some sandwiches to take on safari with us and they were not great, we thought they had forgotten the filling ;)

Very pleasant staff, welcome drinks upon arrival, very nice! The staff also helped carry our luggage!

The staff were lovely and helpful and arranged the safari for us and the Tuk Tuk into town. The room was very big and the bed comfortable. It is opposite the park fence and we saw elephants and deers. The pool was also lovely and clean.

The area around the swimming pool was a little overgrown but the pool was spotlessly clean and very refreshing. Our only issue was the distance to any restaurants or shops. We tried numerous times to flag down Tuk Tuks but no one would take us. We had to walk along a very dark road at night and the stray dogs were barking at us and it was quite scary.

Kein Warmwasser in der Dusche. Ein No Go bei jedem Hotel. Zuerst hatte es Ameisen im Zimmer. Dann wurde es gereinigt. Konnte nicht schlafen da mich die Klimaanlage direkt angeblasen hat. Zum abstellen war es zu heiss. Finde die ist schlecht platziert im Raum. Die Leute sind sehr nett dort. Ich würde es selber nicht mehr buchen.

Very good value for money. Well kept room and facilities. Great with a swimming pool, very close to the national park. Everything was very good.

Staff was not really welcoming, as we expected from Sri Lanka, but we had a great stay anyway.

Our hosts was especially kind and were always open for our requests. They even helped us when we did not ask for it. The room was perfect, very clean and modern for a very good price.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Clean spacious room and shower room/toilet. The pool looked very inviting but we didn't have time to try it. Good breakfast, nice to have it on an open terrace. Close to the National park. We didn't try the restaurant as we like to explore, so one night we caught a tuk tuk to town and ate at the Coffee Barista, the other night we walked 10 mins to the Elephant Trail restaurant. Both good eating places.

Not much to do around it. Dogs barking loudly at night. Would be nice to have proper milk with the breakfast tea and coffee. Booking.com listed TV and minibar. They weren't provided (but we didn't miss them). In fact, many facilities listed on booking.com were not there, need to update the info.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the newly renovated Royal Tusker in Udawalawe, and it was an exceptional experience! From the moment I arrived, I could tell that great care and attention to detail went into the renovations. They have a brand new pool perfect spot to relax after a day exploring Udawalawe National Park. The pool area is clean, and very new just finished construction. The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-equipped with all the comforts you need for a relaxing stay. The updated interiors strike a perfect balance between contemporary design and a cozy, inviting feel. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms are spotless, with excellent water pressure and hot water. The staff at Royal Tusker deserve special mention. They were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. Whether it was arranging a safari tour, offering local tips, or providing excellent service at the restaurant, they truly made me feel at home. Speaking of the restaurant, the food was delightful! A mix of local and international dishes, everything was fresh and flavorful. Breakfast by the pool was a particular highlight. Royal Tusker’s location is also a big plus—it’s just a short drive to the national park, making it an ideal base for safari-goers. Overall, the Royal Tusker is a gem in Udawalawe. Location is fab and rooms lovely. Safari booked through hotel was fantastic the guide was awesome.

Food was a little disappointing and water only Luke warm for shower.

This place is very beautiful... The setting and decor is really nice... I hate leaving negative feedback but on this occasion I have to... It advertised a pool which was still under construction when we arrived (it will be done now so don't worry if you've booked)... The usual warm friendly welcome was not there sadly... When we asked for drinks and to see a menu we were offered a warm beer, I don't think they were quite set up for the start of the busy tourist season so were not prepared with drinks options etc... There was one young boy who was wonderful though, did his best for us... As a result we left a day early to go on to Ella... The owner asked for my feedback and I was honest with him... It's surprising really as the reviews were so good... Hopefully it was just a one off for us...

Incredible location close to the park entrance with elephants visiting right in front! The staff were kind and eager to help. They even had a beautiful cake made since they knew we were celebrating a birthday.

The pool has not been finished yet so it was unavailable.

The hotel is lovely. The decor is very much safari lodge. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are large. The bathroom is designed beautifully with a large balcony looking out onto open fields. The breakfast was superb and the best we have had at a hotel since being in Sri Lanka. The staff were wonderful and attentive. The owner and his wife were extremely friendly and generally just lovely people. The hotel organised the safari and it was excellent. The cost the hotel quotes you does not include the entrance to the park, so bear this in mind when you are budgeting.

The only thing that let this property down was the lack of swimming pool. The rooftop pool advertised is no longer there and they are in the process of building a new pool at ground level. The new pool looks beautiful and will be a great addition to to the hotel. The owner said it should be ready in a couple of months.

Fantastic staff. Very helpful and attentive. They organised a private jeep safari for us at comparable prices to other companies and their guide was excellent with their knowledge, use of a book and their own high power Binoculars. The accommodation is lovely, as was breakfast after the safari. Just wished we had more time to enjoy the property.

They do not accept USD cash. It appears almost all properties in Sri Lanka state on booking.com that they accept USD - cash only, and they only accept LKR cash. We learned the hard way at previous properties so when we got to here, we made usee we had LKR.

Location is great, hotel concept and design is pretty.

The bed sheets had holes on them and there is an opportunity with cleanliness.

The room was HUGE, as was the bathroom. We had so much space, and a great view. A juice was provided on arrival which was a nice touch as well. The host was super helpful in organising a tuk tuk for us when we wanted to go visit our friends down the road. The location is only about a 5-10 minute drive from the park entrance, which is super convenient as well.

Only downside was that the wifi didn't work very well, but as we only stayed for one night this wasn't too much of an issue for us!

Room was outstanding- beautiful view, really large with an amazing bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging our safari and showing us where to get dinner and providing us with drinks to enjoy on our balcony! Really close to the entrance to the national park, we saw lots of elephants around the perimeter of the park even before we did our safari which was wonderful.

Don't get too excited about the pool... it was quite basic. Balcony in the room more than makes up for it.

Tharaka was helpful enough to arrange our stay at such a short notice. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location, with spacious, extremely clean rooms. Nuwan and his assistant was very accommodating with our needs. He also makes a killer chicken curry 👍🏻

Was very clean

Beautiful stay! This is a perfect place to stay in Udawalawa. It is just five minutes drive to the national park.The room was very pleasant, it was cozy and clean. Breakfast was excellent and incredibly varied. The hotel team has always been friendly, patient and helpful. That impressed me the most. No matter what time of day or night, you could turn to them with all your concerns. the small plunge pool they have built on the roof top is with an amazing view of the sugar cane.The price performance ratio is very good. I highly recommend this hotel!!
