The place has comfortable and spacious. We arrived late and the owner went out to get dinner for us and insisted on not receiving a tip. We were served hot tea and biscuits once a day and he even took us to town on his tuk-tuk, for free. We gave him a tip at the end but he delivered the service without expecting anything in return.
The place is located about 200 metres from the road, with steps to traverse before reaching the guest house.
tea + biscuits the night we arrived, walking with us through the tea plantation, picking us up in his tuktuk, waking up at 4am to say goodbye to us, being flexible when we forgot to pay cash! overall eranga was a great host. The place was well cleaned and the view was spectacular too
The only thing was the bathroom, I would love to have one inside the property and it didn’t feel like a private bathroom. the locks were sometimes stuck
Hele goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Zeker een aanrader!
Super vue. Très beau séjour. Personnel incroyablement serviable.
Le sommier du lit.
I had a wonderful stay at Hikers Holiday Home in Nuwara Eliya. The host, Eranga, is fantastic — incredibly welcoming and helpful, and he really made the experience special. When I arrived he greeted me with tea and biscuits, which was such a lovely touch after travelling. In the morning he brought me fresh egg rolls which were absolutely delicious. He also offered to take me around in his tuk-tuk if I needed transport, which was very kind. One of the highlights was going for a walk through the surrounding tea fields, to and around Lake Gregory. Eranga showed me the way himself, along with his friendly dog Tommy, and it was lovely! The property itself is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s tucked away off the beaten path — you reach it by heading down a long set of stairs rather than along a road — but that’s part of what makes it so special. The scenery around the house is stunning, with incredible views over the tea fields and surrounding hills! The accommodation itself is basic but comfortable, with a spacious living area and bathroom and good Wi-Fi. I personally walked to and from town, but many people might prefer to take a tuk-tuk, which are easy to arrange. Overall, it’s a peaceful place to stay with an amazing host and unforgettable views. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
The owner was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay special. He generously provided breakfast and fresh fruit, even though they were not included in the price. He also kindly offered complimentary transportation to and from the restaurant. The view from the lodging was absolutely breathtaking, making this one of my favorite stays in Sri Lanka
There are 108 steps to reach the property. Still I would return to this property without hesitation. Highly recomended for natural lovers
Wonderful place to stay! Very nice family. Rooms are big and the area surrounding the home is gorgeous. Lots of colorful plants and a great view! Bed are comfy as well
We loved our stay here and experienced such amazing hospitality from our host! The weather was bad on our first day but we were happy to rest and enjoy the fast WiFi and electric heater. On our second day our host drove us to see all the most beautiful parts of Nuwara Eliya and gave us amazing restaurant recommendations! The view from the home is breathtaking too.
We loved this holiday home and were sad to only be able to spend one night here. The location and views are magical and Eranga and his father were very welcoming. We had a great trip around Nuwara Eliya with Eranga to see the sights and he recommended us a nice restaurant for dinner. He and his family go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay. This was a real highlight of my time in Sri Lanka! Highly recommended.
Nothing, it was all perfect!
Hikers holiday home is located on top of a hill overlooking the city. It was clean, with a lot of space, and comfortable beds. The host, Eranga, was extremely kind and helpful and we cannot thank him enough for his friendly service. He picked us up from the train station in Nanu Oya with a tuktuk, took us to a nearby waterfall, and also came to pick us up multiple times when we went to the city centre. When we arrived the family served us some very nice tea and cookies and gave us breakfast in the morning even though it wasn't even included in the price. Unfortunately, we were very unlucky with the weather so the place wasn't as pretty as it probably is when there is not so many clouds and mist and you can actually enjoy the views. It was quite cold, also in the house, but the family gave us really warm blankets that were perfect for the cold night.
We had a wonderful stay here. The property is lovely and the views are incredible. The hosts are absolutely fantastic! Eranga in particular was amazing - he picked us up from the train even though we arrived late at night, brought us snacks, tea and breakfast and took us out on a tour all day of various sites around Nuwara Eliya. He was so kind and really made the stay special. We also met his dad who was so friendly and it was wonderful to learn more about Sri Lankan life from them. Would absolutely recommend staying here to anybody!!!
Vriendelijke en zeer behulpzame gastheer, zeer flexibel
Ruhig gelegen, toller Blick ins Tal.
We really liked the natural surroundings. The son of the family, who helped us with everything, made getting to the city center effortless, even though we were on a mountain. He helped us in every way possible, brought us snacks for breakfast, and took us around the city in his tuk-tuk. We highly recommend it if you're looking to experience the culture up close. The house is very well-equipped and has everything you need to fully enjoy your stay.
The charming house of Eranga is located in a beautiful garden and on the edge of a tea plantation. The views from the garden and the living room are tremendous; the location is truly stunning. You can enjoy the surrounding landscape while sitting on the comfortable sofa in the living room, having a cup of tea. You walk to town through a beautiful path that leads through the tea plantation. The house is a little gem, but what really stands out are the people that built it. Eranga and his parents live right next door and we can honestly say that they are the kindest people we met in whole Sri Lanka. They are simply the best! Eranga picked us up several times with his Tuk-Tuk, showed us around town, brought us tea, pancakes and snacks, organized drivers for us and even accompanied us on a hike (a beautiful day!), all out of honest kindness. If you want to know what Sri Lankan hospitality looks like, you simply have to come to this place! We learnt a lot about life in Sri Lanka from talking to Eranga and his dad. Don’t forget to visit the shop of Eranga’s mum near the lake for some tea and some fried potatos, delicious! And don’t get scared off by the stairs leading to the house, they are really not that bad!
Nothing. Everything is perfect.
We had a lovely stay in Nanuoya! The host was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. The view from the accommodation was absolutely stunning, overlooking the mountains, a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Just a note for future guests: the property is accessible by a steep set of stairs, so it may not be suitable for older travelers or anyone with mobility issues. Other than that, everything was great and we really enjoyed our time there!
Beautiful and handy location with stunning garden and very kind and helpful host: these two factors make it very special. Eranga and his family were so kind. Eranga helped us so much with transport, showing us to different sites, and went the extra mile. Thank you so much
The accommodation has a beautiful view in the middle of a tea plantation. The owner also grows many beautiful flowers and fruit bushes around the house. It's a stunning environment. The house is well-equipped and very clean. The owners are the nicest people in all of Sri Lanka, and they also have the sweetest dog. Every day, they prepared black tea and cookies for us, arranged a great driver from the station and also to Kandy, and in the evening, a tuk-tuk took us back from the city center to the accommodation. Since the accommodation is not accessible by car, the owner kindly helped us with our luggage. They also let us taste fruit they had grown, recommended a great restaurant, and allowed us to stay at the accommodation even after check-out. They were truly wonderful.
Hikers holiday home has an amazing view! The family was so helpful and kind. They would always drive us to anywhere we wanted to go and even gave us very nice snacks for on the way. The place feels cozy and is very spacious. Would recommend this to anyone!
Amazing service and lovely family!
Some people may not like the stairs to get there but all part of the fabulous experience
The host is very friendly. Took a great care about us. The location is quite and the panoramic view of surrounding is just awesome. Perfect for people who care about supporting local business and peaceful stay. Eranga also took us for a dinner at a good restaurant and alsohalf day trip in his Tuk Tuk for a very small fee.
Nothing.
What an amazing find! The place is spacious and clean with an incredible view. The host is the sweetest guy, would even bring us snacks and tea and drive us in his tuk tuk! The city and restaurant are in walking distance but far enough for the place to be quiet
The view is breathtaking! The rooms are spacious and clean. It gets a bit chilly in the evening, but the housing offers thick blankets. The host is really friendly and helpful. We were greeted with tea and cookies. He also offered to pick us up.
A wonderful location, and the view of the tea plantations was amazing! The staff was hospitable and caring. The house warms up well during the day, so at night, we were comfortable under the blankets. We were welcomed and later taken to the station by tuk-tuk. I definitely recommend this place and would love to stay here again if I have the chance! Thank you!
Great place and very friendly people. Thank you!
We stayed 2 nights at the Hikers holiday home, it was so Nice, good location. Eranga came to pick us up at the train station with his tuktuk. He also offer to be ur guide for the day in horton plains, it was such a good day! The view and the walk to this place is so Nice, and you can go by foot to nuwara eliya town. Thank you again for our stay!
The homestay was located in the mountains with great views and super quiet surroundings. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but what really made the stay was the son. He was super helpful and picked us up and dropped us off wherever and whenever we needed. He also provided coffee, snacks and a light breakfast. Very friendly and kind. Would definitely recommend it if you’re in the area!
Amazing spot, with a very kind and helpful host
The hosts were amazing, such lovely people. Went out of their way for us, gave us breakfast when it wasn't even included in the price, and took us into town in their tuktuk for new years eve, and picked us up! Couldn't ask for better hosts. The home was super clean and comfortable, and so quiet- got our first sleep in since we arrived in SL 3 weeks ago 😄.. Awesome views too. Bit of a steep walk down to the place but nothing too strenuous. Would absolutely stay again.
Nothing, it was all great.
Absolutely exceptional stay! The host is one of the most wonderful people you will meet. The garden is beautiful. The place is spotless.
Nothing.
Amazing location with views of a waterfall, forest and tea plantations. Super friendly and helpful host, very attentive and welcoming.
Liked it all.
the warmest welcome. we were hungry after our delayed train, the hosts brought us some food and a lovely breakfast the next day. the view was amazing!!! there were lots of steps to get to the building but the hosts helped with all of our bags the host arranged our transport for us from the train station and was very responsive we had a great tour of the town on the tuk tuk and we would really reccomend this place and has been one of the highlight places of our trip to Sri Lanka

The house is surronded by beautiful tea fields and the views from the house are amazing. The owner, Ravindra, is friendly and kind and he taught us many things about tea and his plants. His son came with his tuk tuk to pick us up in the bus station. He’s very attentive and kind. We went with him to visit temples, tea factories, waterfalls… he showed us the most beautiful landscapes of Nuwara Eliya. Thanks for hosting us, we had a great time with you!
