ein komplett ausgestattetes Cottage, teilweise modernisiert, mit einer Küche, die nichts zu wünschen übrig lässt. Gute Versorgung mit Vorräten für das selbst zu kochende oder zuzubereitende Frühstück. Bequeme Möbel, alles sehr sauber und ruhig.

nur ein Hinweis: die Zufahrt ist nichts für Menschen, die keine Erfahrung mit engen Straßen haben. Es geht gut 2 km über eine einspurige Privatstraße ohne viele Ausweichmöglichkeiten. Und ja, es könnte Gegenverkehr kommen, wenn auch sehr selten. Ist aber für Neuseeland normal.

Great location loved the farm feeling.

First of all it was a little difficult to find! The Sat-nav took us to a precise spot in a housing area but we could not any property with that house number. I re-read the directions sent and then it was obvious that there was a gravel track leading up from the exact spot the sat-nav had indicated. There is a postbox there with the correct number on but that can only be seen easily once on the track. A sign here would help! The property itself is a fair way up a single track road but we only ever met one other vehicle going up or down that required some delicate manoeuvring. Now to the property - it really is a delightful escape being blissfully quiet and surrounded by trees, birds and....alpacas which roam freely around. Breakfast, of a sort, was provided. We found eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, butter, jam, some fruit and bread. It was just about possible to rustle up some muesli by mixing granola, Oats and Coco-pops! We ended up buying more bread ourselves. Once we had adjusted to the quirks, the place itself was a delight being very spacious and comfortable and even having a distant sea view. We should have stayed one more day if we had realised that visiting Abel Tasman park involved a whole day trip. It would be helpful if the owners provided a direct e-mail for contact. Emailing via Booking.com is clunky. We never spoke directly to the owners, which would have helped with a few things. I searched the property for the washing machine and dryer without result. They emailed me back to tell me they were in a wooden cupboard in the barn! In spite of all the quirks this was a lovely place to stay and can certainly be recommended. A bit more communication from the owners would be nice to have.

We followed the clear instructions for accessing the Cottage from the street entrance via the long narrow steep driveway, which was not a problem for us. The Cottage was very spacious, clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was superb and very generous quantities too, for our two-night stay. Great views across Tasman Bay to the Mount Arthur Range from the deck. Alpaca and sheep in the paddock below, and kereru and tui in the trees added further character.

The cottage was an absolute dream. From the very first minute, we felt completely at home and almost didn’t want to leave. The spacious veranda offered fantastic views, and the living and dining area with large windows was beautifully cozy and well designed. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully furnished. The breakfast utensils and extras were excellent, fresh sourdough bread was a real highlight. We also loved the sheep and alpacas in the garden, which brought us so much joy. The laundry facilities were very convenient and the bathtub with a view, fireplace, and BBQ made the stay even more special. The owners were incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We truly wished we could have stayed longer. This cottage is a perfect relaxation oasis and a place we highly recommend.

The cottage was clean and quiet and in an idyllic location surrounded by trees up a hill. It was extremely well appointed and we wanted for nothing. The breakfast provisions were plentiful and the sourdough bread was lovely. The bed was particularly comfortable. Beryl instructions to find the place were very clear and she is really proactive and responsive. We would have no hesitation in staying in Fern Cottage when we return to the area.

Absolut alles. Design, Lage, Einrichtung, View, Frühstück, zusätzliches Obst, Kontakt mit Beryl und Howard, die Schafe, die 2 Lamas, die extra Putzsessions während unseres Aufenthaltes, extra Badetücher, Yogamatte, Waschmaschine….. es war insgesamt superschön!

Superbe emplacement et cadre campagnard pittoresque sur les hauteurs de Nelson mais sans être isolé. Les Alpagas et moutons nous tenaient compagnie. Gîte bien équipé qui nous a permis de nous restaurer en parfaite autonomie et tranquillité.

Difficulté à trouver certains équipements (grille pain que nous n’avons pas trouvé !). Fonctionnement du four complexe…. On a fini par abandonner son utilisation.

It's the perfect location to stay in Nelson. A nice house with scenic views over the bay in the middle of trees. The hosts were really attentive and responsive. A place to repeat, definitely!

You have to follow exactly the instructions given to find the house, as google maps won't take you to the right place.

The scenery was beautiful, our hosts were very attentive & accommodating. Our unit was comfortable, warm & clean. We enjoyed seeing the sheep & alpaca the last day & we really appreciated the use of their laundry facility.

The drive to the property was a little challenging, on a gravely road which was hilly with speed bumps.

The location is fabulous, the accommodation is comfortable, everything works and there’s plenty of space. Great provisions are waiting for you including home made bread.

There was nothing that we didn’t like. My only comment that might fit here is that the bbq lacked oomph when challenged to cook a large Porterhouse Steak.

A Great vegetarian breakfast! on arrival was a warm loaf of sourdough, muesli, fruit, yoghurt, butter,milk, coffee etc plenty for our three night stay, and just down the road is a little four square for anything else. Every little detail was thought out, from slippers provided to cooking books.the ocean and mountain view was fantastic.

A great location away from the main city centre, nestled in the hills but not far from the Nelson CBD. Very comfortable and well stocked with everything you need and more. A credit to Beryl, who has gone out of her way to make the cottage feel like a home away from home. The outside bath is a highlight, as were the glow worms up on the road side.

A beautiful place to stay, the house has everything you need, the view is amazing and the bed was so comfortable. A bit too cold to try the outdoor bath, but a great selection of fruit and fresh bread was a lovely touch.

Absolutely loved our stay at Fern Cottage Escape! From the moment we arrived, it felt like home. As a frequent traveler, I was genuinely impressed by the exceptional hospitality of Beryl and Howard — their attention to detail is truly outstanding. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you could need — and more. The quality of the linen, cozy bathrobes, stunning views, and the outdoor bath all added to the luxury and comfort of the experience. Waking up to alpacas and sheep wandering peacefully around the tiny house was pure magic. Don’t waste time searching elsewhere — just book Fern Cottage Escape. You won’t be disappointed.

The atmosphere was so peaceful. The sheep and alpacas were lovely and we appreciated the Tui and Piwakaka visiting and keeping us company. It was a perfect setting for us to relax. The location is also handy for day trips around the region or to pop into town for supplies.

The house was beautiful and had alpacas and sheep in the garden every morning. The garden is full of bird song absolutely beautiful sea sunset view. The night sky was out standing from this property

Loved everything about this little cottage and all the little extras bed was so soft and welcoming and loved having farm animals around me. Also a beautiful view.

Modern Bali inspired decor, lots of fruit, food and drink provided, extremely comfy bed, air con. Sheep, llamas and quail all grazing under the raised deck. Tio birds in the trees.

A magical hideaway with stunning views. Absolutely lovely hosts and everything is that little extra.

This was such a peaceful and relaxing space, and my time here will live on in my heart for a long while yet, it was so pleasant! Every little detail was so thoughtfully considered, and anything I needed was already there. The views from the balcony are inspiring, the bed is supremely cozy, the kitchen is well stocked (even has marshmallow toasting sticks for the outdoor fire pit!), and there were bath salts for the glorious outdoor tub. This place is perfection!

Beryl was an outstanding host. She popped by to check that we were ok and it was very plain to see that a lot of thought had gone into making our stay as pleasant as possible. Meticulous detail, super duper clean and a very generous supply of staple goods made our stay so enjoyable. We've stayed in a lot of nice places - Beryl is the nicest host we've ever had. The peace and quiet suited us very well, with the noise of the bird life our only interruption, and we couldn’t complain about that! Such a comfortable cottage, well set up with every thing we could need. The bed is a 10/10! The outdoor fire, and barbecue were enjoyed, and, although we didn’t use the outdoor bath, it looked like a relaxing addition. Great communication with our host, Beryl, and a top up of breakfast (and so many wonderful extras included) during our 4 night stay

The access road to the property was a little unexpected, up a hill, single lane, turnaround of the car may be a bit of a challenge for some people.

So cosy, the cottage had everything we needed and lots of lovely extras like outdoor fire and marshmallows for roasting! The bed was very comfy too.
