This place good location to go Kalinpong center and market .

That booking time delay and the toilet is broken.

the helpful and very friendly staff, the good location, it was clean, peaceful and comfortable as well, for i was alone in the 6 bed dormitory and felt me like in a private room

it's a little bit expensive for a dormitory room, but, as i wrote, while i was alone, the price was worth

The staffs are amazing, the place is comfortable and has a really nice view. Guys there make you feel home. Not for a moment i thought i was travelling solo in a foreign place, when I was there

The surrounding do close early, so it's a bit hard to find good food at night

Great hostel, very close to the central market area and close to a lot of nice restaurants and cafes. The room (we stayed in the private room) was spacious cosy and clean. The thing we liked most about the hostel was the hosts. Sandup and Arien are really helpful, kind and create a homely atmosphere!

- Ideally located between Dambar Chowk, Kalimpong, and peaceful nature walks, Hills Tale Backpackers Hostel has everything to offer. - The place is quiet, cosy and feels like home, perfect for long stays. - All 3 hosts are very friendly and take good care of the guests, know Kalimpong very well and also provide day tour strolls at a very pocket-friendly price. - They also provide home-cooked meals for lunch and dinner if ordered in advance. - The common area is spacious, well-designed, and the cosiest place where you can spend hours easily with good music that always soothes your ears. - The hostel also comes with a rooftop that contains a hammock chair for the perfect sun bath, an open gym, a bonfire with ample place to sit for fun nights. - The rooftop gives a breathtaking view of the city and the hills & if you wake up early, you can witness a beautiful sunrise - clean and spacious dorms with all the amenities of a locker, ample charging ports, dorm bed reading lights and dorm bed storage box - The washroom and toilets are separate units with proper cleaning and good ventilation, and all the toiletries that are present, which are difficult to find in other hostels - The hostel with this many facilities and at this price is a steal deal.

I recently stayed at this wonderful hostel in Kalimpong from December 15-17, 2025, and I had a fantastic experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make sure I felt at home. The 24*7 open door policy was a huge plus, allowing me to come and go as I pleased. The open terrace was the cherry on top - it was the perfect spot to relax and take in the breathtaking views anytime I wanted. Overall, I'd highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Kalimpong. The combination of excellent staff, convenient access, and great amenities makes it a must-visit spot. I'm already planning my next trip back!

I had an unforgettable experience here. The host was warm and attentive. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The hostel is also very well located, not far from taxi/bus stand and city centre, while also near the main hiking roots heading towards the mountains. It is truly a must-stay when visiting Kalimpong. I cannot recommend anything else over this place! Guest from Belgium!

Kalimpong is full of affordable places, but Hills Tale is the perfect place to those you look for a warm hostel. Excellent location, excellent equipement, excellent staff. Plus, they prepared a lot of info to explore the surroundings. I wish I could stay a longer time !

Absolutely loved my stay here! The location is perfect — close to everything yet peaceful. The food was delicious, and the host was incredibly warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the bathrooms were spotless. I also loved spending time with the adorable pet cats and relaxing on the terrace with its beautiful view. Truly a home away from home — would give it more than 10 stars if I could! Highly recommend. Will definitely visit again.

“The best and only backpacker hostel in Kalimpong – warm vibes, homely food & amazing views!” Hills Tale is the only hostel in Kalimpong and the perfect spot for backpackers! Loved the warm company of fellow travelers, homely food, and stunning views. Owners Sandup Bhaiya and Nischal Bhai are super cool, and with all cafes and landmarks nearby, it truly felt like home. I just can't wait to visit Kalimpong again and stay in Hills Tale.

There's nothing about this place you won't like.

I loved everything about the hostel starting from the rooms to the hosts to the food, everything was perfect and I could not have wanted anything more. If you are planning to visit Kalimpong, this place is a must stay for you. Their hospitality is so good, you would leave the place with lots of good memories and a feeling to come back again.

Breakfast was a little disappointing, it might be easier to not offer it and lower the price a bit

It was wonderful stay, and the owner organises small trips around the place of you don't want to take public transport. It was both reasonably priced and comfortable he was very friendly, it felt like visiting a friends place. Having been traveling solo for the first time. It was best decision I ever made. And not to forget the yummy home cooked food! Totally a wonderful experience... I would 100% recommend to anybody, especially women travelling solo

I really enjoyed my stay here for its cosy and homely atmosphere as well as its cleanliness . Sandup, the owner is a very nice person. He is a poet and filmmaker too. I love the interior decoration of this place very much. Food is also very good. Now this hostel becomes my second home whenever I come to Kalimpong.

This hostel has it all. Great views, peace, aesthetics, nice people, clean rooms, amenities, good food, well maintained terrace with beautiful plants, easy to locate. Although I stayed only for a day, this place has my heart. The host was a very well behaved, helpful and nice guy. I would definitely recommend this to solo travellers and those who are travelling with friends.

Yes the breakfast included in package and it was really nice and they give you till your tummy gets full. Host were really kind and caring! You can even rent a scooter for exploring near by view points. People are really warm and welcoming here in Kalimpong.

Had an amazing stay at Hills tale hostel.The location is calm, just walkable from bus stand and market and the owners and staffs were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. One of the highlights was the dorm room—it was spacious, well-lit, and the beds were super comfortable, offering a great night's sleep. The room was also kept very clean, and there were lockers for securing valuables. It was a perfect environment for relaxing after a day of exploring. I would definitely recommend Hills tale for anyone looking for a fun, social experience on a budget. I’d happily stay here again.
