Cozy House

This place is amazing. This is truly a cozy house. Wasaa, the host made this place the most cozy it can get. Thank you soo much for everything, we miss you so much. He is also a very, very good safariguide! This is a very special place, book it!

Très bien, arrangeant pour une réservation de dernière minute. Très propre. Excellent petit déjeuné, copieux ! Rien à dire !

The best homestay we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka! Host family were super friendly & welcoming. We received welcome drinks on arrival & when we returned from our safari. They helped to organise our jeep safari which was amazing! Great guide, very knowledgeable. Room was a good size, comfortable beds, AC, clean showers, hair dryer. Exactly what we needed after a long safari day. Dinner at the accommodation was also delicious! Amazing value for money. Would 100% recommend!

Cozy House Udawalawe is one of the best hosting families in Sri Lanka, located very close to Udawalawe National Park. The hosts are extremely friendly and welcoming. They serve a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner, including fresh curd with honey, which was excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the surrounding environment is very calm and peaceful. I truly enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back again. 😊

Personeel was erg vriendelijk en de kamers waren super schoon. Ontbijt was erg lekker en de locatie is erg mooi. Zeker een aanrader om hier te verblijven

The food is wonderful!

We looked for somewhere last minute on booking.com

Everything was perfect couldn’t be any happier. Room was clean comfortable.

Alles super perfekt!!!🥰

The coolest guy runs this place, best place we've stayed in yet so far on our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. Extremely good value for money and so cute and homely. Bedrooms are amazing, so modern, and are actually better than the pictures, which is not something wd have come across before in Sri Lanka. Breakfast is included and we even got greeted with 2 coconuts to drink on arrival. Highly recommend this place, very quiet and away from the main noise of town. We only had 1 night here due to limited time but i wish we had more as its a perfect rest spot and they also offer safaris.

If i had to criticise anything, it would be there's no wifi, but you aren't in the place long enough to use it and hot water pressure is not the best, but similar all across Sri lanka, so was to be expected. This did not phase us at all.

Colazione abbondante e molto buona. Attenzione invece all'organizzazione del safari!!

Amazing place, great people and better food

Nothing

Discriminates against local tourists. Tried to refuse to accommodate us even though we had a booking.com reservation. Unethical and criminal. The Auntie and Uncle at the premises were lovely and tried their best to take care of us. But the management refused to give us food while serving the foreign guests breakfast. The property itself is great, lovely location and great rooms.

Amazing family who made us feel welcome and looked after from the moment we arrived. The room was super clean and lovely, the location takes you away from the busy main road and nice back lanes. It is far from an ATM so bring some cash with you to avoid getting tuktuks. Wassa was super friendly and helpful not just on the safari which was amazing but also helping to get you around town and helping us with what bus to move to the south. The breakfast they provide in the mornings and on the safari was excellent and the evening dinner was some of the best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka and one portion is easily enough for two people! The safari is absolutely worth it we did the 5 hours option and saw lots of animals and Wassa is a good driver who explains things along the way. Couldn’t recommend enough and would stay again!

The owner family is amazing! Their warmth was felt from the moment we met them, highly recommended!

Beautiful guesthouse, big rooms with a nice common garden. The food they serve is super! Real Sri Lankan recipies, we also enjoyed the new year classic breakfast.

Everything was great from my side, young guy with family running business, and nice saffari experience room was clean, dinner and breakfast both good

All the staff were so lovely and friendly. We were greeted with a drink on the 1st day & a coconut after the safari (which was lovely & cold!!) The safari which we booked with Wasa was amazing, we had a lovely day and food was great.

Nothing :)

Everything. They welcomed us with king coconut drink. Room was huge and really clean. Garden is beautiful and made for relaxing. Wasa is a great guy. Safari was nice, Wasa is trying to make as much as possible private tour , cause there is a lot of other safari tours. They allowed us to go in the to rooms to have a shower after safari although its after check out time. You wont make a bad choice if you stay here for a night and safari.

Nice family and incredibly tasty huge dinner…we could not even finish it. We were 2 adults and 2 children.

The family offers safari also, but we took other company. It was only about the approach of setting the price. Finally they could offer lower / similar prices…but was to late. If the approach was different we might go with them.

Amazing homestay , Wasa and his family are amazing hosts and treated us like family, delicious home cooked food especially the Coconut Rotis . We booked the 6 hour safari with Wasa and it was truly amazing, Wasa is a very experienced guide and had an incredible knowledge of Udawalala National park , it was an amazing safari , saw the beautiful elephants thanks to his knowledge of the elephant trail, saw beautiful wildlife , included in the price of only 75 euros we also had a beautiful delicious breakfast cooked by mama next to amazing views of the river , I would highly recommend cozy house in Udawalala Thank you to Wasa and his family

Wasa and his family provide a simple yet very clean accommodation that is ideal coupled with the safari. He is a skilled driver and very knowledgeable about the park. Diner and breakfast were simple and plentiful.

One room had a bad bed and no air con ... My worst night. But the beauty the next day was the huge gift!

The best place we stayed at! The room was spacious, clean, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The family running this homestay is incredibly kind and generous—they truly make you feel like part of the family. I highly recommend this place for families with kids, as they go out of their way to make sure your children are treated like their own. We also booked our safari through the guesthouse and had an amazing time. At Cozy House, they don’t treat you like a client; they make you feel like family and offer so much more than what you pay for! I would definitely return if I'm ever back in the area!

We stayed at this accommodation for two nights and were absolutely thrilled. Wasaa and his family gave us a very warm welcome and we enjoyed the best breakfast and dinner of our entire trip. The room is as described and a great safari is offered directly through the accommodation itself. We would come back in a heartbeat.

There was nothing to complain about.

very nice family, good (and a lot of) food, very good experience with the safari

a lot of mosquitos, no AC in our room

We got this place recommended from a fellow traveler and it exceeded our expectations! Wasaa and his family and friends were super friendly, helpful and created a good atmosphere. He offered to pick us up from the bus stop (also dropped us back off there when we left) and were welcomed with coconut. The place was so cozy that we didn’t leave the first day (the house is finished to a high standard with a lot of attention to detail) … a great hangout spot to rest ahead of the Safari. The Safari with Wasaa was also excellent - he was good at spotting them, always shared information and let us enjoy the moment. We observed other guides rushing their tour at the end … for Wasaa there was no hard cut off time. His biggest priority was to make sure we had the best experience we could (both at his house as well as on Safari)!!! The fresh watermelon juice at the end of the tour back at his place was delicious and reboosted our energy levels. Did we mention the dinner yet? Every night was a feast :) Don’t even think about going out but simple get spoiled right there - some delicious home cooked food.

I had a lovely stay at Cozy house, Wasa is both an excellent host, and the best driver + guide in Udawalawe! I felt very welcomed, the food was incredible, and the safari was brilliant.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Made me feel very safe and welcome. Extremely selection for breakfast, even made me an omelette as I'm coeliac and can't eat gluten Was very impressed with the accommodation and garden for the price. Would happily stay again

everything was so nice especially the food the best we had so far. And the safari was so cool. He took us even 8 hours instead of 6.

Wasaa and his whole family is extremely friendly and ensure I have a wonderful stay, regardless is their hospitality, food or the safari tour. This is honestly one of the best home stay I have stayed during my trip in SL this time. The dinner was amazing! You can feel that they are genuinely doing their best to make you happy.

The family is super friendly and attentive, always offering food and drinks. Best food I've had in Sri Lanka. They did our laundry as well. The rooms are big and very clean with hot water in the shower and good beds. The outside area is very pretty with a comfy couch and day beds to relax on. All in all very good value for money. We did a safari with Wasaa as well which was amazing. Thank you very much guys!

This was by far the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka. We came to Udawalawe for a safari and we could not have picked a better place to stay. It really felt like a resort, but for the price of a homestay. First of all; the place is only 4 months old, so everything is really new and therefore very clean (besides the fact that it was also cleaned very well). You have a big room and bathroom with good shower, and outside the room there is a cute common area with multiple cosy places where you can sit. But the best thing about this stay were the people. We have stayed at a lot of accommodations runned by friendly families, but this was something else. Every night and every morning we got a really extensive breakfast and dinner with so much more than just the rice and curries we had at accommodations so far. Really the best food in Sri Lanka we had. Wasa, the owner of this place, has his own jeep and can take you on a safari himself. This was so nice, because he knows a lot about the park and the animals and knows all the good places. We had the most wonderful experiences with elephants, often with only our jeep and no other jeeps around. They even prepared a complete picnic for us during the safari. We had done a safari in Sri Lanka before, but Wasa's safari, and especially Udawalawe National Park I can really recommend, because it is not crowded at all. We stayed for two nights, but did not want to leave. It really felt like we had been part of this kind family for 2 days. If you are looking for a good place to stay for your safari, you should really pick this place.

The best place I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka so far! Very welcoming, beautiful, and relaxing place! The rooms are big and very clean and the garden is stunning. Wasaa is so cute and he will bring you to one of the most incredible safari experiences and he can also show you around. Breakfast is truly delicious and dinner is too. All the family warmly welcomed us, including the little angry Benjy. ♡ Highly recommended

This was one of the cleanest hotels we've experienced in Sri Lanka. The owner was incredibly helpful and kind, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. He also arranged an amazing safari service, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The price was very budget-friendly, but the quality of service was much higher than expected. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Udawalawe!

The best hotel we've stayed in at Sri Lanka. Wasa is a wonderful guest with all the attentions + the best guide for Safari & Udawalawe itself. We definitely would come back anytime! :)

Everything was perfect!

Friendliness; met our expectations; ideal location to the safari park; staff helpful. Recommend visiting

I really will come back! Such a lovely accomodation. The Cozy House is brandnew and totally clean, everything is made with love. It is situated nearby the family's house, who is the owner of that peaceful and quiet place. Wasaa is such a great man, you can trust him totally. If you got some questions, he will help you. You can also do a safari with him or visit the elephant orphanage or "elephant transit home", how they call that place (see the sign), Wasaa is the perfect tour guide for your time in Udawalawe. The whole family is so lovely, I will never forget them. The rice & curry from Wasaa's mum, Jamila, is the absolutely best all over Sri Lanka! She is such a good cook, I love it. Thank you so much for the great time in your house, the time with you, the whole nice family, was awesome. I must come back!

The name really fits - what a cozy and peaceful place! The rooms are clean, the breakfast is truly delicious and Wasaa and his family are the kindest people you can ask for. Wasaa can go on safari with you and show you around Udawalawe. Highly recommended to stay in Cozy House:)

rarely write reviews, but here I would like to recommend this accommodation to everyone. Firstly, there is no mold here, and we changed several villas because of this. Secondly, this is a separate rooms. the linens and towels are snow-white, the Wi-Fi is perfect (and I taught online all day via Zoom, nothing ever went wrong), the kitchen has all the necessary utensils, the bathroom is very beautiful, with excellent hot water. shower, beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning, desk and chair for work, stunning terrace with chairs and table. Chipmunks run nearby and peacocks walk nearby. It was super easy go Udawalawe nationl park . Hotel owner is very friendly . Also his family . Always ready to help for any problem . Highly recommend this place . We will come back sure.

I have stayed in Udawalawe several times, but this new accommodation is definitely the best. There is a beautiful garden, everything is very cozy and the hosts are very friendly and want you to feel comfortable. I can highly recommend these rooms!
