The location is tricky, no tuktuk wanted to come here so you have to walk it a bit far if you want to go to a shop or a restaurant

Feels really natural and the food was amazing that they made for us and we recieved a beautiful gift from the mother, it was a great surprise!

We stayed for 1 night and had the most amazing dinner here. Fried rice and Rice&Curry we definitely recommend. We also booked the Safari through them and it was amazing!! Our Guide was super friendly and we saw everything we hoped to see 🐘 The location was also really nice and calm. :)

Super fijn verblijf! We hebben een geweldige safari dag gehad. Het huisje is top. Fijne bedden. Klamboe, airco en ventilator zijn aanwezig. De beste douche die wij tot nu toe in Sri Lanka hebben gehad. Het ontbijt en diner waren heerlijk! We raden dan ook iedereen aan om een bezoekje te brengen aan Wild Safari Clay House!

Vi blev väl omhändertagna och ägaren ordnade en 12-timmars safaritur som var grymt bra. Vi valde att äta middagarna på plats och blev serverade riktigt bra rice and curry och fried rice. När det var dags att åka vidare ordnade ägaren med billig transport. Inget att klaga på alls.

Amazing stay. If you Wanna spend a nice quite evening in nature this Is the Place! The host Is fantastico and Dinner Is also Special. The house are made by the owner with love and very confortable. I definetly reccomend this Place.

I would suggest to buy some materess for the outdoor chairs.

I travelled around Sri Lanka for a month, so I have plenty to compare with, and this was my last and the best accommodation, which really changed my view of this country. The host is incredibly kind, communication with him was great, and he speaks good English, so it’s easy to arrange anything with him. He helps with anything you need and prepared an excellent dinner for me (the best curry I had during the whole month). I also received a delicious welcome drink. The accommodation is in a beautiful and quiet location, with a great seating area in front of the house. The WiFi is strong and reliable, which is quite rare here. There is a kettle and cups in the room, so you can make tea or coffee, which is also provided. The bathroom has a hairdryer (a big plus!). The water runs hot with strong pressure. The bed is very comfortable, with a mosquito net, and there is also an insect repellent plug-in available. There is both AC and a fan, and the room is very dark and quiet at night, so it’s perfect for sleeping. It’s also great to have a socket and a bedside table next to the bed. Everything is clean and well maintained. It’s the small details that make the stay really special. The price-to-quality ratio is unbeatable! It was a beautiful place, quite quiet but very modest and everything you need, comfortable bed with mosquito net, pillows and sheet, desk with wobbly bench, kettle, tea, coffee, mugs, towels, hangers, laundry horse, warm shower, toilet roll, bins. We relaxed on the outside chairs and had a really nice breakfast of brown sugar coconut rotis and fruit, an amazing dinner of curry with vegetables and fruit for dessert and got greeted by a refreshing welcome juice when we arrived. The owner himself is very quiet and keeps to himself mostly but answers quickly to your requests and is a nice person, even got up at 5:30 to give us breakfast to take to our safari.

It is a bit of a walk to town, 50 minutes in the heat and a tuktuk is very hard to get as it’s partly down a dirt road, but only down one long road mostly of the time and the road is very safe, lots of friendly people and children playing games and as soon as you get to town the Cargills and bank are very close to each other. The bathroom and soap had a bit of an odd smell sometimes and the aircon worked but sometimes blew out lots of cold air at once, not that we complained much. Overall would absolutely stay here again!!

The accommodation was very beautiful and cozy. We also had dinner prepared by the host, which was delicious and for a good price. Moreover, we had a safari tour with the host as well. The host was highly educated about all the animals living in the national park and behave in a considerate way towards them.

Große Empfehlung! Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist Wahnsinn: großzügiges Zimmer, funktionierende Klimaanlage, warme Dusche, leckeres Frühstück für wenig Geld. Hier freut sich der Geldbeutel bei einer längeren Reise durch Sri Lanka. Gegen geringen Aufpreis haben wir dort auch zu Abend gegessen. Wir haben noch vor Ankunft eine Safari über die Unterkunft gebucht und hatten ein wahnsinnig tolles Erlebnis im Udawalawe-Nationalpark.

Las cabañas son amplias, limpias y muy acogedoras. Con aire acondicionado, agua y un gran baño con agua caliente. Camas muy cómodas. El desayuno delicioso y el responsable se preocupó en todo momento por ayudar y gestionar varias cuestiones: safari, taxi, etc

The staff were extremely attentive and friendly! The safari was so easy to book through the hosts and the safari itself was amazing! Not only did we see 7 different types of amazing animals with a very lovely and knowledgeable guide but we also had a delicious breakfast included with a cup of tea over looking one of the many lakes in the National park itself. It was all we could have hoped for and more! As we did the 4 hours safari it meant to had a chance to go and see the elephants transit station in the afternoon which is only a 10 minute tuktuk ride away from the property! There were so many amazing aspects of this place but one of the best were the delicious home cooked meals from the hosts. I could not recommended Wild Safari Clay house enough! One of the best places I have ever stayed!

The guesthouse is a small family business just consisting of two bungalows which immediately gives a private atmosphere. The safari is optional and has to be paid on top, organized by a cooperating family business. Both, accommodation and the safari were really worth the money. The bungalow and the whole place are organised in a very efficient (facilities, practical arrangements etc.) and yet very tasteful manner. Optional home-made dinner was served in a beautiful pavillion just next to our bungalow. The curry was amazing and the amount of food more than enough. Next morning, we were picked up for a 4-hour safari in time. We saw many elephants and other animals and our driver was a good spotter and smart tracker. A quick Sri Lankan breakfast (included) was served during the tour, arranged in front of a small river. After the safari, we still had time to take a shower and check-out calmly. The owner is also helpful in organising options to leave Udawalawe. An insider's tip that really deserves it's name!

This was one of the most amazing places we’ve stayed, especially for such a great price! The clay hut was fantastic—spotlessly clean and filled with the delightful scent of cinnamon. The dinner was absolutely delicious, and the safari arranged by our host was truly unforgettable. We would definitely book with them again!

We had a lovely 2 nights in our clay hut. It was so clean and cosy with a lovely bathroom that had a hot powerful shower. Bed was also very comfortable and had great wifi and air con! The hosts are so lovely and cooked us breakfast and dinner each day and arranged us a great safari!! The host also drove us to the nearest swimming spot for a swim in the lake! Amazing accommodation especially for the price, Thank you!

This was our favourite stay throughout our whole time in Sri Lanka. Amazing value for money with everything you need - hot shower, air con, spacious room, mosquito net, fan. It was perfect! Dinner at the guest house was also amazing. We did our safari through them and it was 10/10. Would recommend this stay to everyone planning to go to Udawalawa.

A charming, rustic place in a quiet location that has a lovely feel to it. Perfect for a couple of nights to relax and see the national park. Great hospitality. Very clean and with good sized bedroom, comfortable bed with mosquito net and nice sized bathroom with good shower. The room had wonderful smell of cinnamon. The walk to town is a few miles but pleasant and the option to have dinner at the Clay house is good. They can arrange safari for you.

Breakfast was fine but would have liked a choice as very rice based.

Incredible value for money. The host is very helpful; he responded quickly to calls and messages via WhatsApp and can organise you your safari. Couldn't ask for more with the room. Clean with a modern air con and the hot water and water pressure of the shower was perfect. But the best part was dinner which was a lovely Sri Lankan meal with many traditional dishes that was as tasty as it was filling.

Only thing I can think of is that it is a 30+ min walk to the main street but the host was kind enough to drop me to the bus station and the ATM :)

The owner of the accommodation was very nice. He will also organise the safari for you if you wish. His mother cooks a very tasty meal, which we can also highly recommend. The bed is very comfortable. Sleeping in the clay house is also a nice experience.

The safari clay house is an unique experience. We stayed for one night, but we could imagine to stay longer. We got some refreshing welcome drinks on arrival, the owner helped us organizing a safari at the Udawalawe National Park and we got a delicious curry for dinner in the accommodation. The room was spacious, really well equipped (even with a hair dryer) and perfectly clean. Definitely recommendable!

We were driving with our own Tuktuk and the way to the accommodation was a little tough to drive. The pillows were a little too hard, but of course that is depending on the personal preference.

One of the best places we have stayed - and for such a good price!! The clay hut is fabulous - very clean and a wonderful aroma of cinnamon! Dinner was awesome, and the safari organised for us by the host was incredible- would definitely book through them.

The road to get there is a little tricky - we hitched a ride with our safari jeep on the way out!

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage really much. The place is nicely designed and well equiped, settled in a peaceful Village environment. The host is really helpful and prepares tasty breakfast and dinner. Also offers safari tour.

Cute and clean huts with everything you need. The owners are also really helpful with organizing safari and transport. We had dinner and breakfast there and it was tasty and the portions were big. Would stay there again.

Very friendly staff, tasty food with very big portions, no one has to go to bed hungry at this place! The safari we booked was also very good, informative and respectful towards the wild animals. We really enjoyed our stay!

Excellent clay house that feels very luxurious for a very reasonable price. Food is also good and the associated safari with Subhash is also 10/10. Very recommendable!

Beautiful little clay house built by the owners themselves. The owners are incredibly helpful in organising trips and transport. On our last evening they even offered to cook dinner for us which was amazing. The room itself is very basic but clean. The bathroom has a very nice shower. There is no AC in the rooms but a very smartly placed fan above the bed to keep you nice and cool during the nights. The location of the place is a bit off the beaten track but therefore very nice and quiet.

I got nothing to complain about. Especially within this price category what you get for your money is more than amazing and enough.

Our stay at wild safari clay house was really just perfect. The clay house was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The whole house was built with so much love. Everything you need is there! The host was super nice and happy to help you with anything. He also arranged a Safari tour for us which was also perfect! Chamara, our driver, spoke really good English and happily shared his good knowledge about the different animals in the national park with us. He spotted different animals and was respectful towards them. The whole tour was so much fun! There is really nothing we would have wished for more during our stay at wild safari clay house.

Couldn’t have picked somewhere better to stay in Udawalawe. The clay house was so nice and right the bed was comfortable. It is in a great location and without even leaving the house we saw herds of buffalo that would walk past in the evening, water monitors, and peacocks. Ravindu was an excellent host so kind and did everything to make sure we were as happy and comfortable as possible. Offered us tea every night which so we had rice and curry and tasted amazing, also offered breakfast everyday which was really good. If we ever come back will definitely stay here again.

The only downside was there was only one fan which was fine for us the but if it is abnormally hot outside it might struggle.

Beautiful and unique stay in a brand new clay house. Owners are the best hosts we have come across in Sri Lanka, cooking delicious food for us each night. Owner also booked us an amazing safari which was very special.

Super friendly host and family. The food that they offered was sensational. Felt very welcome all the time. The owners brother offers Safari tours. There are accommodations that are closer to the National Park, but the distance was totally acceptable. Great value and a great experience!

The houses are built from clay and just have one Window (which is facing the street with its lamps). When we were there, the temperatures were high and during the night the Houses didnt cool off but the clay constantly emitted warmth. A second window would be great for air circulation. But the Temperatures were above average then, we were told.

The host and his family were absolutely amazing, they were so friendly and kind and they made this stay truly special. It was the cleanest room and best shower we have had in the whole of sri lanka. The Food was incredible too with massive portions and delicious fried rice and dal. The safari was superb with the hosts brother. He was so knowledgeable and knew the best spots to see animals, we had a great laugh with him aswell. Amazing value for money and I highly recommend this place if you’re considering a Udawalawe safari.

The owner was super nice and helpful. He built all these houses by himself and tried his best to make you comfortable. Welcome fresh juice on arrival. The house is simple but made with care and the bed was huge and comfortable. The dinner was delicious. Also we suggest to book a safari with the owner.

Note that there is no a/c but a fan. But this wasn't a problem for us.

We were very pleasantly surprised for the price we paid!! Very clean tidy place, very good bed we had amazing sleep, best shower we had so far in all of Sri Lanka, very nice young man helping us with everything you ask for, very good food in big portions!! Nothing bad to say here I would very much recommend. Also because the bungalow is made out of clay, it’s quite cool!

The houses are traditional clay houses and were finished just at the start of 2024. The bathroom was the cleanest we had during our entire holiday in Sri Lanka, with modern showers. Beds are big and comfortable. The pictures on booking are giving you a precise idea about the place.

There’s not a bad thing to say. If you are unhappy with anything, just tell Ravindu and he will try his best to fix whatever’s bothering you.

A hidden gem! Perfect quite location next to the river where you can swim. The hosts are the best, super kind, friendly and helpful. They made us the best dinner we had in Sri lanka! The huts are completely new, the bed was really comfy and everything was super clean. In the night you hear the jungle sounds to fall asleep. Make sure to also book the safari with Subhash, he is the best. Would 100% recommend it. Thank you so much for everything guys!

Subhash is the owner with a big heart, he brought or did everything we asked for. If you would like to experience the real Sri Lankan atmosphere, I highly recommend visiting this accommodation. And Subash made the amazing safari trip we saw maybe all animals what is possible the see.

The owner, Subhash, was great! So helpful and friendly. He also does safaris, so we visited Udawalawe national park with him. The place was very close to safari so easy to go early morning. Safari was amazing too!
