Diyaluma View Cotage

Really cozy stay with a beautiful view of the Diyaluma Waterfall. The food here is exceptional, I recommend you to eat diner there and enjoy the view.

This place is amazing With a great view of the waterfall from the balcony. The host was lovely and cooked the most delicious vegan food for us. 7 curries with salad.rice. poppadoms and mango to fInish. Breakfast was excellent too. The cabin was nicely done too. We had great communication with the owner. A great place to stay for a visit to explore the waterfall top and bottom. He arranged a tuk tuk to the top side of waterfall if you do not fancy the tricky hike. It is still a 25 minute walk from tuk tuk drop. But a lot easier

Amazing home cooked food, one of the best dinners I’ve ever eaten, and hospitality 10/10. The view of the waterfall and location is also spectacular.

The food was incredible homemade Sri Lankan dishes , it lives up to its name, you can literally see the waterfall from the little deck. The couple are very lovely and helpful.

From the outside porch you have an excellent view of the Diyaluma waterfall, we had breakfast here and it was magical. A huge thank you to our host and his wife! When we arrived it was pouring rain so we couldn’t go anywhere for dinner, they made us an exceptional rice and curry as well as a lush breakfast the next morning. Everything tasted amazing and it was extremely kind of them to cook dinner for us as well. Our host also took us up the waterfall the next morning for an exceptional tour (we paid him extra for it), he took some amazing photos and videos of us (excellent camera skills!! 😝) and we had a great time. Would always come again!

Очень приветливые хозяева. Хозяин водит на водопад Diyaluma. Опять, же это очень удобно - не пришлось блуждать самим, или искать проводника. Пошли мы на водопад утром (в 7 утра) - когда еще никого там не было - это был прям большой плюс. Спокойно сделали фото, спокойно посидели на вершине водопада.

Cottage in legno x il vostro soggiorno a Kosala. Il posto è vicino alle cascate di Diyaluma, immerso in un contesto verde e familiare. Si riposa bene il materasso è comodo. Il punto più rilevante però è cenare presso la struttura, un’esperienza veramente di gusto che ci ha permesso di provare la cucina più autentica e di casa. Altro suggerimento è farsi accompagnare alle piscine naturali, un bel trekking leggero che si conclude con uno scenario magnifico sulla valle. Insomma un’esperienza consigliata.

Uitzicht op de waterval. Super aardige host die je graag & heel kundig begeleid bij bezoek aan waterval (kan je ook individueel naar toe, maar met begeleiding is aan te raden), zijn vrouw kan echt fantastisch koken; ontbijt is inbegrepen en diner is aan te raden ;-).

Situació

Una cabaña super bonita, amplia y limpia, con mucha intimidad. Tanto la cena como el desayuno, preparados por la esposa, estuvieron muy ricos y abundantes. Los anfitriones super amables, pendientes de nuestra llegada. Ubicación privilegiada con vistas a la catarata. Todo perfecto.

Il posto è in una posizione perfetta con vista sulla cascata dal terrazzino. Il proprietario è carinissimo e una guida perfetta sé volete visitare la cascata, per noi lui ha fatto la differenza. Siamo rimasti a cena lì dove abbiamo mangiato uno dei migliori curry in tutto il viaggio.

Beautiful cottage, very close to Diyaluma falls, you can admire them during the breakfast from the balcony and you can reach the top with 10min tuktuk and 30min walking. Room very clean and delightful. The host were very kind waiting for our check-in at 20.30 and keeping our bags the day after. Recommended.

Fue increíble, es el mejor sitio para quedarte en Diyaluma. Desde que llegas te hacen sentir parte de su familia. La cabaña tiene vistas a la cascada, agua caliente, ventilador y mucho más de lo que puedas necesitar. Ella cocina riquísimo, merece la pena coger todas las comidas con ellos. Él es guía y nuestra mejor decisión fue recorrernos la cascada con él, conoce cada punto y nos hizo unas fotos espectaculares. Sin duda alguna volveremos a hospedarnos con ellos. Muchas gracias familia, ¡ojalá volver a coincidir!

The food the owner makes in the evening is more than amazing! If you stay here, eat in!

We reserved this place to see the diyaluma falls in the early morning (in this period in the afternoon there is too much water). The host has been fantastic! There was an electricity problem that day so he brought has with his tuk tuk to its friend restaurant where we had a very good dinner! Next morning at 6 he took us at the top of diyaluma falls (he is a local guide) explaining things and taking pictures. Back at the accomodation, we had our favorite local breakfast of our trip! Very good and very abundant. Very good experience and very good time there!

Comfortable accommodation, love the cabin style. The hosts are lovely, I would highly recommend their curry dinner, it was delicious, best we’ve had in Sri Lanka and we’ve been travelling for 3 weeks!

Everything was fine, the view is stunning, breakfast served as for 4 persons (while we have been two of us). Owners friendly and hospitable. In the evening we walked to the waterfall and had a nice dip before sleep. Location is just perfect.

If you want to enjoy the waterfall early in the morning and be alone during two hours before other tourist! Don't hesitate, choose this homestay, Upali the owner will be helpful. His wife is an excellent cooker and the room with the terrace is perfect to eat and have a direct view to the waterfall. Take this time and this homestay and enjoy it.

This was our favorite stay in our entire two-and-a-half-week road trip through Sri Lanka! Staying at the Diyaluma View Cottage was a breath of fresh air and welcome getaway after a busy few days in Ella. The cabin is positioned perfectly to provide a jungle view of the Lower Diyaluma Falls from the terrace and offers a quiet retreat for a solo traveler, couple, or small family looking to immerse themselves in nature. In the evening, we were treated to beautiful sunset views of the falls and surrounding jungle from the cottage. The host then arranged a cooking class for us at a local village kitchen, so we were able to learn how to prepare traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry with farm-fresh ingredients and natural cooking instruments. In the morning, we were able to hike up to the Upper Diyaluma Falls and enjoy the infinity pools and panoramic views of the jungle all to ourselves before the crowds began to arrive. From the top of the falls, we could even look down and see the cabin! It was quite the surreal, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Upon return from the waterfalls, our hosts treated us to a beautiful Sri Lankan breakfast on the terrace with the view of the Lower Diyaluma Falls and company of the host’s family dog Lucky. This alone was one of the highlights of our trip, as my husband and I felt like we were on our honeymoon all over again! We would highly recommend staying at the Diyaluma View Cottage on your next visit to Sri Lanka!

Owner put his heart into guests needs. Also guided me to the top of the falls where without a guide you wouldn't know you could get into the pool, unless others were already in. Food was varied and overly plentiful.

On arrival we were served fresh juice and met with a really friendly owner. He is a guide to the waterfall, but we wanted to hike alone, so he gave us useful information regarding the parking and path. The parking for our tuk tuk was provided. The cottage is really cute with a great balcony, which has a view on the waterfall. The location was really useful, the bottom of the waterfall is just a few minutes walk away. The room was very nice, comfortable and clean, there is a fan. The best part was the food, both dinner and breakfast were tasty and plentiful. For dinner we ate the best rice and curry we've had in Srilanka. For breakfast we got tea/coffe, juice, toast, butter and jam, lots of fruit, coconut pancakes and noodles.

The room was a bit hot, because there is no AC, but it wasn't too bad. All in all it was a perfect stay!

Everything, the furnishes are beautiful and the hospitality amazing in a beautiful remote location. Food was quite simply some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka and the tour to the top of diyaluma falls was incredible (id recommend going early in the morning as we had the entire falls to ourself which was very special).

Nothing at all, you pay a fair amount but this includes your trip up to the top of the falls with an experienced guide.

Great location overlooking the waterfall. Our host took us to the top and showed us the best places to swim. Spectacular, one of our best days in Sri Lanka and there have been many. The bungalow is spacious and clean although no WiFi in this area. Who cares?? Our dinner and breakfast were delicious and lots of it!

I’m guessing some people won’t like lack of WiFi but we really didn’t care

The cottage is in the best location, right on front of the fall! Amazing Upali, good host, showed us hidden spots around diyaluma fall and made our 24 hours with him very fun! We had breakfast and dinner, fair prices and huge portion and diversity! Very very tasty! If we would know, we would have booked more than one night to see more of the area!
