Madri Retreat - Heritage Boutique Hotel with Pool

Great location for the palace, boat tours and ghats. Its positioning on the hill means you get some great views of the city from the roof. Very comfortable, attentive staff. I had been busy moving from city to city prior to my stay, so was ready to chill on the roof in the sun or by the pool a bit by the time I reached Udaipur - and it’s the perfect city for it. If you’re into art, there’s a really lovely store tucked away over the bridge called Pacific Art Udaipur - local specialist artists who do incredibly delicate work at reasonable prices (hence being slightly away from the main tourist thoroughfare). I recommend checking it out. Lovely people, no pressure.

It was exactly what I had booked. It is on the minimalist side and I usually go for a little more character, but it was comfortable and I slept like a dream.

Access to the Haveli is a little challenging since it is an uphill walk although they do provide auto transportation from the Haveli to Chandpol

I see that, in reviews, significant praise is attributed to this hotel. I can only say: it is, in my experience, fully deserved. The room is spacious with good light and bathroom, fully functional WiFi and - possibly the most important! - exceptional cleanliness. The location is close to the centre, yet very peaceful. In addition to these luxuries, the hotel is stylishly decorated in a type of MCM that blends well with the local style. But the most imortant thing is that the hotel has two genuinely friendly and competent receptionists! It makes such a difference to receive a warm welcome and I was even allowed an early check in. I would return with great pleasure and recommend without any hesitation. The Madri Retreat has a sister hotel - i.e. the Madri Haveli - which has an onsite restaurant.

Excellent property with brilliant facilities, really nice rooms in a heritage building. Best part of our stay were the staff, who were incredibly kind and helpful. The nearby rooftop of the sister hotel is very nice for sunset and drinks. Highly recommend

I have never been so thrilled with a hotel!!- A perfect oasis to escape to when the thrilling madness of the streets of Udaipur become a bit much. Every day was a new adventure, but coming back to relax in the cool small perfectly maintained pool was the gem in the crown ( I know I sound ridiculous but this hotel really hit the spot!)

No complaints!( well, actually it was a wee bit tricky to find; you have to ask to go to chandpole parking if arriving by car; from there the tuk, tuk took us to madri haveli- where they redirected us to made retreat around the corner)

The service and hospitality of the staff, especially the owner, was exceptional! The entire hotel was spotless. The pool was so nice, and actually maintained properly. Something you don't see very often when in India. Breakfast was always so delicious. The sister hotel around the corner has AMAZING dinner options as well. I was a solo female and I always felt safe, and that the staff made sure I was taken care from the minute I arrived to my departure. I was truly spoiled here! Don't hesitate to book this property!

Beautiful hotel with a lovely, authentic atmosphere. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always happy to help. The laundry service was excellent—fast, professional, and impeccable. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Udaipur.

The reception and kitchen staff were so helpful and made sure we were always taken care of while we stayed at Udaipur. They had a map to show off the city and we're excited to hear what we had planned each day. The breakfast was lovely with a menu to choose from, made to order and you could see into the kitchen while it was being made.

The building in itself have a lot of charm, the rooms a lot of space, the architecture and materials are fantastic. It is spotless clean. The pool is great, breakfast very good, and staff discret but very helpful Excellent restaurant and massage for reasonnable prices The location is fine, it's a quick walk from the lake, and the neighborhood is quiet and safe, you enter a real bubble of peace once you set foot inside the hotel.

There was an issue with the WIFI not working for almost a half day, at the moment I needed to check in flights, but the staff provided help with their computer and printed for me.

Amazing location right in the heart of the old city, extremely comfortable rooms in a beautifully restored haveli. The swimming pool in the center courtyard is wonderful to cool down on hot days. All staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and help me plan many activities. The restaurant on the rooftop of the sister hotel right next door has delicious food at a good price and incredible 360 views of the whole Udaipur city. I hope to come back soon !

Beautiful heritage hotel that has been decorated with taste. Comfortable beds, large and modern bathroom and a swimming pool with a quirky detail that any Belgian will appreciate. The staff was also very friendly and did its very best to help.

We went during the monsoon season which comes with its difficulties in India. The first evening, there was a power outage and the wifi went out of service in the whole area for almost an entire day. Luckily we had our own mobile data.

Friendly staff, I would especially like to thank Bheru who was extremely helpful.

There is no access to the hotel by car. There is a 400 meter walk to the hotel up the hill. Power disconnected several times for up to 1-2 hours during the day and night once I was in the shower at the night which was quite an annoying experience.

Chacun des membres du personnel a été incroyable, L'équipe du petit déjeuner qui nous permet de prendre autant que l'on souhaite et qui est très attentive. Le service de chambre avec une propreté impeccable... La piscine, l'emplacement... Les chambres sont très belles avec des lits confortables... Bref, je pourrais continuer les éloges sur des pages entières pour notre séjour nous avons été très à l'aise et été confrontés à des personnes qui connaissent leurs métiers ! Merci !

This hotel is just fabulous and we cannot recommend it more!! Everything from the hotel design, the interior and the staff was just perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. On arrival we were welcomed with a fresh lime juice which was just what we needed after a long day of travelling. Then they kindly offered us a room upgrade which was just amazing. The rooms are so clean and beautifully decorated !! Throughout our stay the staff were so helpful with giving us advice on what to do in the area and organising Tuk Tuk to get us to our bus location. Breakfast here is very tasty !! When leaving we were kindly gifted with a beautiful photo of what the Haveli looked like prior to it being renovated and I was given two beautiful bangles to take home.

We had an excellent stay at Madri Retreat in Udaipur. The location was exceptional - just 5 minutes from nearly everything we wanted to see and do in the city. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. We were even upgraded on arrival, which made the experience even better. Outstanding value for the price, and we’d gladly stay here again.

Lost power for a bit due to thunderstorms, but that’s no big deal!

The best hotel we have ever stayed in! Beautiful building with stunningly designed gardens and communal spaces. Our room was quiet, spacious and immaculate. The staff were friendly, professional and courteous and couldn’t have done more to ensure our stay was perfect. Breakfast was great and the restaurant food absolutely delicious. I could not recommend this fabulous hotel more highly - it was an oasis of perfection!

A true gem of a beautiful and charming hotel located in quiet area just 5 min walk to shops and sights. Everywhere was squeaky clean, pool was refreshing and all hotel staff were extremely accommodating, kind and friendly and it felt like home staying there.

The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The room was very clean and peaceful with a spacious shower room. The rooftop restaurant in the nearby sister hotel was very good. The location is quiet but only a 7-min walk to the Palace. We appreciated being told about the performance of traditional Folk Dancing taking place at the museum each evening and how to get tickets. Staff rang after we left and were 'en route' to the station to say they had found my earring at the pool and then met up with us to return it!

Fantastic stay in a very convenient and quiet spot of Udaipur, 5 minutes on foot from the lake. The design of the hotel is very modern, pleasant, breakfast was really good and varied, with both international and Indian options. The room was confortable and very clean. But what really was above average was the staff. They were all extremely kind, but Mr. Kuldeep Singh specifically went as far as lending me his phone to make a 3 hour phone call to the Qatar Airways help centre as my flight back was cancelled. He was extremely helpful and really walked the extra mile to make sure I could solve my problem. I couldn't recommend this place more.

Nos encantó el hotel, el servicio increíble, el personal super atento, con miles de recomendaciones. La ubicación es perfecta para ir andando a todos los lugares de interés. La habitación grande y el baño impecable. El desayuno buenísimo y el servicio de masaje merece la pena. Volveremos sin dudarlo.

Únicamente como recomendación cambiaría las almohadas que son un poco rígidas. Por lo demás, ningún aspecto negativo.
