Reviewed Sep 15, 2026I love their hospitalities, management, specially their all the stuffs are so friendly and understanding. Hotel is so clean and prices are also affordable. There is also a restaurant in hotel. I basically prefer to have lunch and dinner here. I'm here for 16 days. Which is already 11 days running. During this days I just feel like a family. Specially "Rushan" and his grand parents and also the chef "Mr saman" and "Kumari" I want to give thanks from my heart ❤️. In my last word I want to say me and my wife will miss you all after this vacation. And I promise next time whenever I come again in Sri-Lanka I'll be back to shon villa. Thank you for your caring and your lovely hospitality. Love you guys 😘

Le manque d'entretien des chambres, l'humidité et les odeurs d'égouts. Nous avons réservé 4 chambres et une en particulier sentait très mauvais.
Perfekt, um nach einem langen Flug recht schnell ins Hotel zu kommen. Die Zimmer waren geräumig und sauber, der Pool frisch und sauber.
Das Hotel ist auf der Landzunge und damit weit weg von Geschäften, Bankautomaten und Restaurants.
Obiekt był nam potrzebny jako miejsca na szybki nocleg przed lotem i te oczekiwanie spełnił.
W jednym pokoju brak łazienki. Spore braki w czystości. Dużo komarów mimo braku otwierania okna. Brak czajnika w pokoju. Pokój klaustrofobiczny sprawiał wrażenie jakby był bez okien.

Reviewed Mar 11, 2026I did not like staying at a different room than shown when booking. The property owner did not apologise for changing the rooms and he said that this is different Property in the same compound..
In the same compound, there are two properties we booked for Shon Villa, but we were given the room at Rico Hotel which had rooms different from the pictures and they were not as described.

Jedzenie w porządku ale na zamawiane z karty trzeba było czekać około o czym byliśmy informowani.
Obiekt ogólnie fajny, ma dwa baseny.
Trzeba tylko trochę lepiej o niego zadbać.
Nie ma plaży więc basen to największy atut, trzeba czystości .
Czasem brudna woda w basenie (mogli też czasem po prostu wyszorować brzegi) słaba klima (lecz po zgłoszeniu problemu dano nam nowy pokój, kła została naprawiona, przeniesiono nas do innego pokoju w budynku w którym praktycznie w każdej łazience śmierdziało fekaliami.
Brak sprzątania w pokojach przy dłuższym pobycie.

The place was nice, the location close by the beach was also nice, and the food was good.:) Room and the bathroom were big and clean. The swimming pool was a great plus.
the room smelled of mold, and we couldn't open the windows, because of mosquitos.
the location is nice but there are almost no restaurants close by so It was difficult to eat out, and prices at the hotel aren't the cheapest plus there's a service charge
the WiFi didn't work almost at all

Reviewed Nov 21, 2025The staff were friendly and attentive to my requests. Breakfast timing was flexible and I was served more food than I could eat. The open-air (but covered) patio provided a beautiful view of the ocean. My room was basic, but it was quite adequate for my needs. Unfortunately, I did not use the pool even though it looked quite inviting.

We tried only the front one and it was perfect just missing some mattress for the sunbed ...
We ordered food for the evening it was very good and very generous
Gave us a box for breakfast because we were leaving early
The room is very very basic so 1 night is ok but not more.
The bed is not comfortable at all and only one pillow
The AC is not working well
The cleaning needs to be improved
Only 1 big light on the room
And it's the worst idea ever to put a glass door for a bedroom ... So all the lights are going inside of the room ...
We didn't feel welcomed with the owner ? Manager ? First time in Sri Lanka we had this feeling in 26 days trip.

We could comfortably use their swimmingpool after check out before heading to the airport.

Le petit-déjeuner est copieux et les deux piscines sont magnifiques. Merci encore à eux pour leur gentillesse et leur souplesse par rapport aux horaires, je recommande évidemment

Reviewed Aug 18, 2025Schöne Unterkunft mit tollem Pool zum Schwimmen und Toben für die Kinder. Der Ausblick von der Terrasse zum Frühstück ist super! Die Zimmer sind sauber, haben Klimaanlage und das Personal war sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und sehr zuvorkommend! Ein perfekter Ort zum Ankommen oder auch für die letzten Tage, wie bei uns.

Food was great. We mentioned that we liked Dahl to the manager and he arranged for us to have some the next morning when it wasn't on the menu - we really appreciated it.

Reviewed Mar 12, 2025The room was changed upon request, as the first one offered had a moldy smell to it. The new room was great and the swimming pool was nice to cool off from the heat. .
Breakfast made me sick, so the hygiene of the kitchen staff is questionable. The location is remote, without any stores or restaurants in walkable distance. Some staff will stare at you, making use of the pool uncomfortable. Certain other staff have zero boundaries and will touch your kid to an inappropriate extent, needing to be told it's not ok. The beach nearby is dirty and impossible to swim in due to huge waves. Not a good value for your money and will not stay in again
The location was great with sea on one side and lagoon on the other. The pool was lovely as the sea not great for swimming. The food cooked fresh every day by the chef was excellent.
The boat trip on the lagoon was lovely with lots of bird life and monkeys.
TukTuk into Negombo was a great way to travel.
It would be helpful to have pegs, or rack to hang clothes.

Cleanliness needs to be improved (dust in rooms, shower tube etc.)
Airt conditioning in one of the rooms covered only half of it and the other half was very hot.

Reviewed Aug 12, 2024It was Neil and his sister (NICKNAMED Florence, as she was fantastic, I cane to Shon Villa for peace, quiet and respite. They both are genuine, honest, respectful people/staff. As a business owner I would be privileged to have them run my business. Stay was sp good I postponed travelling and booked 2 extra nights. The food was the best I've tasted and I've been in Sri Lanka for 6 weeks. Definitely will come back
The A/C, the food and definitely the flexibility in choice of food. The staffs helpfulness, generousidy and their genuine heart
