Villa Senu

The host was so lovely and kind Location was great It was ok for 1 night

No washing machine or free breakfast as advertised and why i booked the property It felt damp and had that smell to it.

Run by a very friendly and helpful family. Kitchen with large fridge. Comfy beds.

The villa was super comfortable space just off the main Hirikiteyu strip. We were treated so warmly we felt very welcomed. The 2 bedroom villa has everything you need and there is a beautiful garden space in front with seats under trees that has hanging lights in the trees at night. Everything worked as expected - AC, hot water, comfy beds., the day bed in the living space is nice as well. The breakfasts were varied and fun in the traditional cooking kitchen workshop space next to the villa. I had an amazing Ayurvedic massage on the same premises. We all enjoyed being able to just stroll to shops / cafes / surf and yoga. It feels like a genuine place run by a sincere local family. It’s not a polished super modern or designer place but it works really well.

Host was absolutely wonderful, breakfast was delicious and the accommodations was nice and home like

Unfortunately from the get go the property was a disappointment. It was called a “villa” but sadly far from it. The villa was poorly lit and had an awful smell especially from the main bedroom. The sheets were dirty and there was dead flies down the side of the bed. The property clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly in a long time. The window in one of the bathrooms didn’t have proper window and had bars, which people on property could see in through. There was a massage area and cooking kitchen which were accessed through the “garden” area which the villa had, which meant loads of people were passing through and lingering. We had booked for 4 nights but had to leave a day early. Two girls from the group returned to the villa late approx 11 .30pm and the owner seemed to be intoxicated blaring music on a speaker, he didn’t engage with them which was strange. His behaviour made us uncomfortable and unsafe. We alerted the remainder of our group to return, as they arrived the owner had got his top off and was trying to peer in the only clear window of the villa. When questioned he said he was cleaning… We felt very unsafe and uncomfortable, felt lucky nothing more sinister happened. I would not recommend this villa to anyone especially girls who are by themselves.

Everything about my stay was great, I was greeted by more than one person upon arrival, the host family are absolutely wonderful, so warm and friendly. They really treat you like family. I was really happy to meet them and to enjoy 2 days together. Definitely recommend and if I’m ever back, will be staying again.

Only the location close to the beach

Disappointing stay. The apartment felt old and poorly maintained, with a noticeable smell as soon as we walked in. Cleanliness was lacking—dusty surfaces and a bathroom that needed a proper deep clean. AC only in one room. Hot water only in one bathroom. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Considering the condition and overall experience, it wasn’t good value for money. Would not return.

I had a wonderful stay at this lovely little villa! The two hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming – you immediately feel at home and well taken care of. The location is perfect: just a 3-minute walk to the beach and surrounded by super cute little restaurants. The service was outstanding, and the massage and breakfast offerings were fantastic. Everything was spotlessly clean and lovingly maintained. I would come back anytime – absolutely recommended!

Very quiet and private spot , off the main road into the village. Self contained villa. Water cooler in kitchen area which was excellent. Breakfast was very good and choices were excellent.

The views on booking.com suggested the interior was far brighter/ lighter than it was in reality. So it was quite dark inside.. Either the light bulbs need changing or it needs repainting. There was AC in one bedroom and only fans in the other bedroom and in the kitchen/ lounge area so felt very hot.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming 2-bedroom villa in Sri Lanka. The hosting family was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The breakfasts were delicious and a great way to start each day. The location is peaceful and quiet, with a bit of wildlife around that added to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax and enjoy nature with great hospitality.

One room with air-conditioning and one with fan

In terms of location and hospitality, for the price, Villa Senu can’t be beat. You are literally 200m from the beach in a lovely quiet plot set back from the road. The host family are so friendly and were served us a delicious breakfast for both mornings of our stay. However we originally booked for longer but had to change just because the Villa itself was lacking that extra bit of comfort that we wanted for our last stay in Sri Lanka. We are parents of young children, so after the kids go to bed we need a nice common area to relax which the villa lacks a bit. A comfy sofa and maybe another air conditioning unit would elevate this place so much. Maybe too much to ask for the price though in this location.

A perfect stay for a group of 4. The location is excellent as its walking distance to the beachfront.

There is an AC only in 1 rooms. It should be available in both rooms

Amazing hosts, so welcoming and a great value. Very nice place.

Great location, lovely hosts, and homemade breakfast.

Perfect location and the team that look after you treated us like family, probably the best we have been taken care of on our travels, nothing was too hard for them. Can’t wait to stay here again, can’t recommend this place enough. Thanks Villa Senu!

The property is in a great location close to the beach and the main part of Hiriketiya. Also we came with our dog and there was a private little garden so it was perfect. Basic but clean and the staff are very helpful.

Only one bedroom had hot water and A/C so a little unfair as we were a group of people. There isn’t parking on site but we could park next door. Sadly breakfast didn’t meet our expectations.

It was very homey. The staff at Village Senu were exceptional.

Excellent location, family who run it are very friendly. We only stayed as one couple, but would be excellent value for money if 4 were staying here.

Shower was cold and one bathroom could do with a little work, but the other one was fine

It’s a very nice house, in a perfect location. Very nice garden in front, and very private also. The people that work here are super welcoming and attentive. The rooms and house in general were very clean. Everything in the house is brand new, from pillows to mattresses

The windows can’t be opened due to monkeys - a normal thing around Sri Lanka- but a mosquito net would be good so we could leave the windows open at least for some time.

Just exactly what we needed
