Dream House Residence

Het personeel was enorm vriendelijk en helpt graag waar nodig is. Het uitzicht vanuit de kamer en ontbijtruimte is erg mooi en hier kan je ook mooi de zonsondergang en opkomst bekijken. Het ontbijt was zo enorm ruim waardoor het eigenlijk te veel is, maar wel erg lekker. We hebben ook nog de tour gedaan door Kandy vanuit het verblijf en dit beviel ons enorm en het is echt een aanrader!

Het verblijf ligt wat hoger op de berg waardoor het lastig te bereiken is. Je hebt een trap naast de weg waardoor je niet de volledige helling omhoog hoeft te lopen. Overigens liggen er op het begin van de weg 3 wilde honden die grommen en blaffen, wat echt als onprettig ervaarde. Uiteindelijk doen deze hondjes niks.

Prachtig uitzicht vanaf het balkon. Personeel lief en behulpzaam. We zijn einde middag pas aangekomen en de volgende ochtend vertrokken dus niet veel te vertellen

Ondanks keukentje op de familiekamer was er geen frigootje aanwezig. Het ontbijt werd geserveerd in een zeer warme ruimte.

Vue magnifique depuis la terrasse. Hôtes aux petits soins. Dîner et petit déjeuner excellents et copieux. Proche du centre de Kandy en tuk-tuk. Super rapport qualité prix.

This was our favourite accommodation from our two week trip in Sri Lanka! It’s a hike to get to the top of the hill but tuk tuks can do it and the view is worth it. The hosts were friendly and accommodating and put on an impressive breakfast spread. The common areas are shared but we had no problems with noise and thought it was such good value for money!

We stayed at Dream House Residence on the night of 30 July. From what we understood, the accommodation is located at a very high altitude, which means the weather is considerably cooler than in other parts of Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, during our stay it was particularly cold and extremely windy, which affected our overall experience. However, this was really a matter of weather conditions rather than the accommodation itself. The hosts, a father and daughter, were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. It is a humble and simple accommodation, but everything we needed was available. We were warmly welcomed with tea and homemade cookies, which was a lovely personal touch. Unfortunately, on the very first day we arrived, one of our daughters needed to give an online lesson, but there was a power cut. The hosts immediately tried to find a solution and were very kind in helping her. They actually allowed her to go to their own residence so that she could use their Wi-Fi and give her lesson. We really appreciated their willingness to help us in this situation. The following morning, the father, mother and daughter prepared and brought us breakfast and set the table beautifully. The breakfast was presented with great care, and it was clear that they really wanted us to feel welcome. There are a few small shops nearby, although they mainly sell local snacks rather than the basic supplies you might find in a larger shop. Overall, although the cold and windy weather and the temporary power cut made our stay less comfortable than we had hoped, these were circumstances beyond the hosts' control. The accommodation itself is simple and modest, but the hosts were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Their hospitality, thoughtful touches and beautiful breakfast made us feel very well looked after.

One inconvenience is that the accommodation is not particularly easy to access with heavy suitcases. Parking is also somewhat difficult, and there are steps to reach the house. Fortunately, the hosts kindly helped us carry our luggage down, which we really appreciated. Another downside was the very low water pressure in the shower, which made it difficult to have a proper shower.

Das Zimmer zur Küche Room 4 ist direkt bei der Küche, kann gegen Abend dort sehr laut werden..

Den smukke udsigt over byen var helt fantastisk. Værtsparret var utroligt hjælpsomme og fik os til at føle os meget velkomne. Virkelig lækker morgenmad - og meget af det. Det var nemt at komme ind til byen – en kort tur med tuk-tuk, så var man fremme.

Clean and big house with a nice room with a very stunning view. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. It's uphill but most drivers can take you there, otherwise it's a little walk.

Hosts offer a cultural dance show for 4.500 rupees but at an other more popular location (Kandyan Cultural Centre) we saw afterwards it was only 2.000 rupees. They were kind to pick us up in town for the show, but a little early so they drop you at a gem museum/store, which is a kind of tourist trap. It's al voluntary, but be aware.

We had booked 4 rooms expecting them to be air conditioned 3 of them were and the 4 wasn’t. I asked the lady about it and she said it was not stated as having aircon but kindly told me for $50us we could upgrade the one bedroom I thought was a little unreasonable. There were a lot of ants in the bedrooms and although only small got through our bags. All in all the staff seemed to be only interested in how much money they could get out of us which was a shame. Would not recommend.

Le personel était mal poli, arrogant, comme si on va séjourner chez lui gratuitement. À notre arrivée au soit disant hôtel, y’a pas de réception, il y’avait un homme qui nous a mal traité, et nous a mal parlé d’un air très arrogant

Unfortunately, our stay did not match the description provided on the website. The room lacked proper ventilation. When the doors were closed, it became stuffy and uncomfortable, as there were no vents for adequate airflow, making the room feel quite suffocating. The room was advertised as a superior double room with 20m² of space, but it was smaller in reality (see the attached images showing width & length - tiles are 2×2 ft). Based on the layout, it appears that the advertised size may include the bathroom and balcony rather than the actual bedroom area. The property was described as a holiday home with a caretaker, but in reality it was a homestay. Our room was located directly next to the kitchen, resulting in very little privacy and noticeable noise from kitchen activities. Parking was another frustration. The owner's vehicle was intentionally parked in a way that blocked our car, making it difficult to leave the property freely whenever we wanted. The bathroom also requires maintenance, with visible mold that would benefit from proper cleaning and repainting. In addition, the shower setup was inconvenient. The only available hand-held shower head was improperly mounted, so washing hair required holding the shower head with one hand throughout the shower. The sofa shown in the property's photos for the superior double room was not in the room as implied. It was located in the outside kitchen area, which was misleading. Finally, access to the property was challenging. The road leading to it is extremely steep and narrow, and when vehicles meet in opposite directions, one driver often has to reverse to allow the other to pass. Overall, the property did not meet the expectations created by the website, particularly regarding room size, privacy, ventilation, and accessibility.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt und können die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen. Alles war sehr sauber und gepflegt. Die Betten waren äußerst bequem, sodass wir wunderbar schlafen konnten. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir das sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal, das unseren Aufenthalt noch angenehmer gemacht hat. Auch das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet – frisch, vielfältig und sehr lecker.

Die Unterkunft hat eine super Lage und einen wunderschönen Ausblick und das Personal war super freundlich. Das Essen war total lecker alles war sauber und wunderschön gemacht. Auf dem Balkon haben wir einen Affen gesehen, der uns leider die Sonnencreme geklaut hat. Deshalb passt auf wenn ihr Sachen draußen liegen lasst aber das war natürlich ein Anfängerfehler von uns!

I absolutely loved the room view even tho I wasn’t lucky with the sunrise but the mountains are just stunning! The owners are such sweethearts and if you’d like they can give you a city tour, organize the tour guide for the mountains, massage and taxi to the airport for you. Very helpful. I really recommend this place!

Eine super schöne, total saubere Unterkunft mit unglaublicher Aussicht auf dem Berg! Die Gastgeberin ist total nett, hat uns ein leckeres Frühstück und Abendessen zubereitet und dafür gesorgt, dass es uns gut geht. Absolute Empfehlung!

It’s up a REALLY steep hill. Fine if you have a driver, fine if you’re able bodied, but if you have suitcases or mobility difficulties and no driver then you NEED the number for a tuktuk.

The view was amazing and the sunset perfect as it’s high up above the city with lush views. It’s not easy to reach however, our drivers car did slip several times on the very steep hill and it was a tough walk back after we popped out on foot. Room was comfortable and clean, with a balcony. Be aware it’s not private and is shared with all guests as it’s a shared house and not a hotel. We stayed 2 nights and had dinner and breakfast, plentiful and tasty.

Location a bit tricky.

Helt fantastisk beliggenhed og udsigt. Utroligt søde og varme mennesker, alle vi mødte fra familien. Særligt mødet med Kumare, kvinden i huset, og hendes hjælpsomhed og omsorg, gjorde stort indtryk på mig. Det var lige præcis det, jeg ikke vidste, jeg havde brug for. Tak ❤️

Nous avons passé une très bonne nuit au Dream House Résidence avec un accueil très chaleureux. Très gentils et arrangeants, très bonne cuisine généreuse. Lieu avec une vue absolument magnifique et proche du centre ville à pied ! Nous recommandons sans hésiter.

Pas d'eau chaude dans la douche, mais nous n'avons pas demandé à regarder pour autant car il faisait assez chaud donc ce n'était pas insupportable ! Un petit détail je pense bien compensé par le reste !

Wir haben leider nur 1 Nacht "auf der Durchreise" in der Dream House Residence verbracht. Die Gastgeber sind wirklich unglaublich herzlich, man fühlt sich sofort willkommen 🙂 Die Zimmer sind sauber & die Aussicht vom Balkon aus ist wahnsinnig schön, man überblickt ganz Kandy. Die Lage ist etwas außerhalb des Zentrums aber per Tuktuk wunderbar erreichbar. Das Frühstück ist auch sehr sehr reichhaltig & lecker. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

Die Gastgeber waren sehr nett. Wir haben eine Nacht in Kandy verbracht und können die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen. Zimmer/Bad waren sehr sauber. Der Blick auf Kandy ist toll.

Der Weg in die Stadt nimmt etwas Zeit in Anspruch und ist teilweise sehr steil. Man kann aber einen Großteil mit Tuktuk fahren.

Staff super accogliente, disponibile e premuroso. La struttura era pulita e disponeva di tutto il necessario per il soggiorno. Colazione super abbondante e buonissima. Un ringraziamento va alla signora della struttura che è sempre stata presente e gentile.

Attenzione perché la struttura non è proprio nel centro di kandy ma con un tuktuk si raggiunge in 10 minuti (la vista ripaga la distanza)

This property was very clean and the bedrooms were comfortable and a good size. Owners were lovely and can help with whatever you need. The breakfast was immense! Beautiful view from the room and only a TukTuk away from the centre.

Wow. What can I say. It is the breathtaking location and the lovely residents and good hearted couple owners. Nice and well maintained room with balcony view.

La coppia che gestisce il dream house residence è veramente amichevole, ci siamo sentiti come a casa. Vista stupenda, camera pulitissima, letto comodo. Colazione impeccabile!! Sicuramente un posto dove tornate più volte. La strada per arrivare è in salita ma ci sono i tuktuk che ti ci portano abbastanza facilmente e eventualmente delle scalette se si vuole salire a piedi.

We stayed two nights in the Dream House Residence. What can we say, except that the hosts are amazing. You made our stay in Kandy even better. So rooms are nice and the view is breathtaking!

Really great place for our two night stay in Kandy. High up on the hill, the views were amazing and it was great to have breakfast looking out over the hills. The hosts were so accommodating and the breakfast was delicious and only a short tuk-tuk or walk into the centre

Świetne miejsce! Niesamowity widok, świetni właściciele, bardzo czysty apartament, pyszne śniadanie. Polecam!!

Bardzo czysto, piękny widok choć trzeba się liczyć z wejściem pod górkę do obiektu. Gospodarze mili, pomocni.

Drogie śniadanie jak na lankijskie warunki. 6$ za osobę to 3 śniadania na mieście w tej cenie.

Dans l’ensemble une belle résidence mais encore en travaux à notre passage. Le monsieur qui a nous accueilli n’était pas des plus cordiaux mais le couple du soir nous a laissé une superbe impression. La vue est superbe

Prachtig uitzicht en extreem vriendelijk personeel/eigenaars. De eigenares zette ons meerdere keren op de gewenste locaties af zodat een taxi niet nodig was. Ze raadde ons ook verschillende bezienswaardigheden aan en boekte de tickets (bv. de lokale dansshow). Ze gaf ons info rond alles. Vriendelijkste eigenaren van heel sri lanka!

La nostra stanza era perfetta, una vista veramente mozzafiato. Dalla sua posizione riesci a vedere tutta la città e il paesaggio meraviglioso che la circonda. Tutto molto pulito, e veramente di altissimo livello considerando la cifra spesa. La colazione buonissima, ha qualche tocco di “occidentale” ed è servita in questo salotto vetrato bellissimo.

Rispetto ad altre strutture lo staff è un po’ meno accogliente, però comunque gentile e disponibile

Unglaublich freundliche Besitzer und Personal. Die Besitzerin hat uns mehrere schöne Tipps für Unternehmungen gegeben und beim Transfer zum Flughafen geholfen. Sehr schönes, neues und sauberes Zimmer. Hervorragendes Frühstück. Rundum ein toller Aufenthalt.

Die Lage ist ok, die Unterkunft liegt auf einem Berg. Von der Hauptstraße aus (ca. 200m zu gehen) fahren aber TukTuks für wenig Geld in die Stadt.
