Very nice place.... good freedom ...

Nice location

We did not stay there as we did not find it. Our driver called and asked for directions and they answered they did not have our booking! But they wanted to sell us safari, and did not seem to care about anything but the safari. We asked again about our booking and asked them to cancel in case they had our booking as we could not find the place. It seems they still charged us for the room.

Property was very comfortable and clean. It was also very close to the National park. The host was very friendly and a great tour guide. We did a full day Safari and saw lots of elephants, deer , crocodile. They even made a fireworks display for us on New Year’s Eve which was very thoughtful and a good memory to have.

We agreed to have dinner there both nights and were not given an option what to order therefore were not told prices. We were pretty shocked on check out to find we were charged 3500pp for dinner which seems on the high side for what we received.

The food was nice and the host was very accommodating. He helped me with many things and took me on a very good safari!

If you are wondering why this place is so cheap, the reason is to sell you a safari tour. If that’s what you are looking for in Udawalawe then no worries. You might find it challenging staying here if you have booked a tour elsewhere and not with the owner. Lots of hard-sell from the owner and not taking no for an answer. This allowed us to negotiate a really good price for the safari however and he was as a good guide. The room is simple with fan and bathroom. Nice and comfortable though with a mosquito net too. Lots of mosquitos around so bring bug spray if you stay. We had food at the Accomodation, 2400 Rps for Kotu for two people and curd with fruit. Not great value for money, we felt, and we were a left a little hungry. Overall It’s a good cheap place to stay if you are looking to book a safari with the owner.

What felt like rather pushy sales from the chap who managed our stay. Keen to upsell food, tours etc. this is however the case all over Udawalawe it seems. Make sure you negotiate a good deal for the Safari.

Isuru is the perfect host. The location is also perfect for Safari. Safari with Isuru was really amazing experience : we saw all animals and he arranged perfect trip with breakfast included in the prize. In one word- Perfect stay!

They can manage everything for you, from stay requirements to local Sri Lankan food to a safari. Fairly helpful guys and are present right when you need them

Nothing that I didn't like

A budget-friendly stay with clean rooms and a quiet setting. The Udawalawe safari tour they organized was incredible, offering great wildlife sightings.

A basic room but great value for money ($3). The room was clean and neat. They arranged a safari tour for us and even provided breakfast at the park. Isuru, who took us on the safari, was a great guide, and we enjoyed seeing many animals.
