We kwamen met de boot aan in de passantenhaven van Steenwijk en verblijven in het gasthuis voor een nacht. Vriendelijk ontvangst op maat door de gastheer. Nette service en communicatie. Mooie kamer en sanitair. Leuke attentie gekregen in de kamer. Verblijf ziet er top uit en voldeed aan al onze wensen. We hadden zelfs een onverwachte feestavond erbij in het dorp, super gezellig gehad! Ontbijt was over de top!

Het appartement was royaal, mooi ingericht, sfeervol door prachtige balken en de bedden sliepen heerlijk. Ontvangst was gastvrij en het ontbijt voortreffelijk. In het centrum van Steenwijk, om de hoek bij leuke restaurantjes.

La struttura è di dimensioni generose, spaziosa e nel pieno centro della cittadina che si presta per permanenze fuori dalle città olandesi. L'abbiamo utilizzata come base per visitare la vicina Gitehorn ed è stato facilissimo raggiungerla con il normale servizio BUS.

Erik è una persona gentilissima, ci ha dato un caloroso benvenuto e ci ha fatto trovare in casa anche una buona bottiglia di vino e un formaggio tipico. Per quanto riguarda la casa, che dire, perfetta. Posizione strategica per andare a Giethoorn. In più sotto consiglio di Erik, abbiamo visitato anche il paese in cui si trova la casa con il suo parco, e siamo andati anche in altro paesi lititrofi, tra cui Meppel. La casa era pulitissima e fornita di tutto, letti comodissimi. L’unico neo può essere il bagno aperto sulla camera ma a noi non ha datò particolarmente fastidio.

Erik was excellent, very thorough and happy to help us with anything we needed. He even offered to pick up some medication when my daughter fell ill, and gave us a late checkout. Really impressed with everything and with my family in steenwijk, we'll definitely be back. Apartment is very big, spacious and clean.

★★★★★ We had a wonderful stay at Het Monument. The property itself is very special — a beautiful historic building that the owner spent 25 years restoring. The room retains the character and historic style of the building while being newly and comfortably furnished. The shower and WC are modern and newly fitted too. One thing that really surprised us was how naturally cool the room stayed, even in summer. We didn’t need air-conditioning or even a fan, and it was very comfortable for sleeping. The owner lives next door and was an excellent host. He kindly offered to pick us up from the train station, which is only about 800 metres away, and took the time to explain the interesting historic features of the house. Before and during our stay, he also sent us lots of useful information about restaurants, dining options, cycling trails and things to do in the area, which we really appreciated.

We zijn vriendelijk ontvangen en kregen veel leuke en nuttige informatie over de omgeving. De eigenaren zijn erg attent, wat ons verblijf extra prettig maakte. De kamer had een prima formaat, was sfeervol ingericht en bleef ondanks het warme weer verrassend aangenaam, ook zonder airco. Steenwijk is een gezellige plaats en er is in de omgeving genoeg te doen. We hadden ons hier met gemak nog veel langer kunnen vermaken!

De grootte van het appartement en de gezellige landelijke sfeer w.b. inrichting. Alles heel comfortabel. Locatie midden in het centrum dichtbij horeca, winkels en bezienswaardigheden.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Erik is an incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive host. He took the time to provide us with lots of useful information about Steenwijk, including recommendations for restaurants, attractions, and places to visit. His hospitality made us feel at home from the very beginning. The house is beautiful, very clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. Everything about this place was excellent, from the location to the facilities. The house itself was full of local character, making the stay even more special. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, and provided us with lots of helpful recommendations for exploring the area. This is easily one of the best places I’ve ever stayed, and I would highly recommend it!

Perfect gelegen appartement dichtbij restaurants, station en parkeergarage. Vriendelijke persoonlijke ontvangst en uitgebreide info over de omgeving, restaurants etc.

Afwerking nog niet helemaal optimaal, maar zonder dat dit echt ten koste ging van comfort. Work in progress.

Det hele

Die Unterkunft befindet sich in einem historischen Gebäude in zentraler Lage in der Fußgängerzone von Steenwijk. 150 m zum Marktplatz mit Restaurants, Café s und Geschäften. Ein Supermarkt ist ebenfalls 5 min. fußläufig entfernt. 200 m ist der öffentliche überwachte kostenlose Parkplatz entfernt. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war sehr gut ausgestattet mit Kühlschrank, Kaffeemaschine, Wasserkocher und einer Auswahl an Kaffee und Tee. Auf Anfrage wurde Geschirr bereitgestellt und wir konnten im Zimmer frühstücken . Geschirr und Handtücher wurde regelmäßig ausgetauscht. Kaffee/Tee aufgefüllt. Ein kleiner abschließbarer Innenhof zum Abstellen der Fahrräder ist vorhanden. Dank des hervorragenden Radwegenetzes ist Steenwijk der perfekter Startpunkt für Fahrradtouren ins Naturschutzgebiet Weerribben - Wieden, in die wunderschönen kleinen Orte Giethoorn und Blokzijl und das restliche Steenwijkerland. Sehr zu empfehlen sind auch die vielen Wanderrouten und wer aufs Wasser will sollte sich unbedingt für ein paar Stunden oder auch den ganzen Tag ein kleines Boot mieten um die Natur und die wunderschönen Häuser auf den unzähligen kleinen Kanälen und Grachten zu erkunden. Ein rundum gelungener Urlaub!

This beautiful apartment is a little gem! We had a very warm welcome from Erik the proprietor. He welcomed us with a lovely bottle of Rose wine and a very lg portion of Gouda cheese. The accommodation was of high standard and extremely well equipped. Lovely modern kitchen and stylish bathroom. My partner and I loved Steenwijk and everything it has to offer. Lots of lovely bars & restaurants within close proximity with a beautiful town square with water jets. Highly recommend!!

Nothing we didn’t like. I would have liked a thicker curtain on the bedroom window as I personally like a dark room. However, this was a very minor detail.

Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst door host. Goede uitleg over faciliteiten van het appartement. Uitgebreide tips en toelichting voor restaurant bezoek. Kregen ongevraagd een upgrade naar een grotere kamer.

We hadden een hartelijke ontvangst van de eigenaar met een heerlijke attentie in de keuken. Het is een heel ruim appartement wat van alle gemak voorzien is. We kregen al snel alle tips door en ook de cijfercode werkte voor ons perfect zonder sleutels.

De gehorigheid binnen geeft geen privé gevoel. En de schuifbare matrassen geven de slappe lach als je bij elkaar wil leggen. En niet echt prettig

We were welcomed with cheese and wine when met by the host upon our arrival. Eirk had offered to pick us up at the train station but we were met by local family and made our way easily to the property. It is situated a short block from the center of town.

There is nothing unexpected and everything was lovely.

This is a restored historic Dutch house. The owner, Mr. Erik, greets you at the door, and you get to hear from him how he’s shaped this piece of history with his own hands. The house is in a fantastic location and is perfect for those who, like us, love authentic places. Mr. Erik provided such detailed information that everything felt as though we’d set it up ourselves.If Booking allowed me to give a 10-star rating, I would give this place 10 stars.

Locatie is mooi midden in het centrum, Erik (eigenaar) vertelde een mooi verhaal over de historie van de locatie en Steenwijk. Het appartement is zeer ruim, in m2 en hoogte, en keuze van welk bedden je gebruik wilt maken, wat je kunt hier ook met 5 personen verblijven. Heerlijke ruime douche gelegenheid. Voor ons slechts 1 nachtje, maar je kunt dit prima als uitvalbasis voor een paar (2-5) dagen gebruiken. Gratis parkeren op 250 meter is ook prima.

Omdat het zo groot is, heb je niet altijd het gevoel dat het ook cozy is.

Mooi pand aan een wandelstraat dichtbij het centrum van de stad en heel rustig en stil. We werden verwelkomd met een fles wijn, een mooi stuk kaas en heerlijke studentenhaver. De kamer was nog niet geheel af, maar we konden zien dat er oog was voor detail en dat het heel mooi ging worden. Heerlijk bed en een super lekkere douche.

Een klein koelkastje was wel fijn geweest, gezien de kaas en onze zelf meegebrachte frisdrank. Het was gelukkig 's nachts nog koud genoeg op de binnenplaats ;-)

Prachtig, ruim pand met drie aparte ruimtes. Heel mooi, sfeervol en comfortabel ingericht! Enige jammere was geluidsoverlast: je zit recht aan de straat waar beide nachten het uitgaanspubliek door het grootste gedeelte van de nacht heen nogal luidruchtig was.

Enige is dat ontbijt niet inclusief is, ik had hier op gefilterd, maar misschien is dit meer de fout van het systeem van booking.com.

Het mooie ruime appartement met meerdere kamers en alles was echt ruim opgezet en genoeg zitplekken. Het was ook gezellig ingericht.

Het was wat gehorig snachts maar met oordopjes prima te doen. :)

Clean and spacious

Erik was fantastic! He picked us up from the train station very late at night, which was so kind. He had cheese and wine waiting for us and gave us awesome restaurant recommendations.

Everything was beautiful.

The host is very helpful and friendly. The apartment is very big and clean,2 mins walking from the free parking lot.It takes 10min drive to Giethoorn.

We really appreciated everything about this property. Eric was amazing and went the extra mile - collecting us from the train, good advice about the area and assisting us with our trip to Giethorn. Steenwijk is a gorgeous place and one worth spending some time in.

There was a bit of noise at night - we were there over the weekend. Eric had warned us that there might be some noise from the local up the road and has tried to address that issue by installing some extra noise barriers. There was some noise both Friday and Saturday night but it was not excessive and just part of having access to accommodation in the very center of the village.

Our hosts were very welcoming and accommodating! So generous!

Finding the parking was confusing. On a popular road with lots of late night activity and noise. Use a noise machine.

Erik is an excellent host, he is kind and very helpful. There should be more people like him who are so willing to help their visitors and thanks to his recommendations our trip to Giethoorn was great.

Very hospitable host!! Walkable town, supermarket, and ample restaurants. The kitchen was great, we cooked a lovely soup (we recommend the fresh meal ingredient boxes from the produce section at Albert Heijn!) The host gave us recommendations for restaurants and local activities. The travel toiletry sets in the bathroom were such a nice touch. We got lucky by arriving on the last day of the Steenwijk cultural festival, just a short walk away, another great recommendation from our host, Erik.

There was a large array of kitchen knives to choose from, however they could all use some sharpening. The double bed is two twin beds joined together, sometimes a leg would get caught in the middle.

I highly recommend the place! A very respectful owner that we enjoyed chatting together. Awesome design, unbelievably clean and cozy. I wanna get there again soon.

Literally nothing. The place is marvelous.

Our host, Erik was very friendly and helpful. He provided help not just regarding the accomodation but gave suggestions about what to visit also. Additionally, during our stay he asked our opinion about how we feel ourselves, whether he can improve something to provide more better services. The accomodation is really large, convenient, appropriate for a whole family. If You would like to have a taste of a traditional Dutch house and surroundings, it is great for You. The accomodation is under continuous improvement in parallel with keeping the authenticity with priorities. The kitchen is fully equipped, everything was very comfortable. We would happy to spend our days again here. Steenwijk is a great point to visit several wonderful places, including the seacost area also. Don't forget to visit the Rams Woerthe park (4 minutes from the accomodation) where You can meet with a lot of deers also.

The street is quite noisy on some evenings during the week (e.g. weekends). It is not about the accomodation itself, rather the circumstances. Tip: If You sensitive, You can sleep inside the living room instead of the bedroom.
