Weligama Ocean Breeze

Overall, we had a good experience at Weligama Ocean Breeze. The hotel is close to the beach and our room had a lovely balcony. The air conditioning worked well and despite being near the main road, we hardly heard any traffic noise.

However, considering the price we paid during the off-season, we expected slightly better facilities and a few more comforts. Although a kettle was provided in the room, there were no tea or coffee supplies. The water pressure was also a little low, and the showerhead could have been of better quality. Breakfast could also have been improved by including more protein options, such as sausages with the Western breakfast or chicken curry with the Sri Lankan breakfast.

Right at the beach, everything is modern and clean, the pool as well. The staff is incredivly nice and helpful.

The location is amazing especially if you’re a beginner surfer. You can also take a tuk tuk and do day trips around the coast. The breakfast was quite decent. And the staff were especially friendly! The pool was quite nice as well. Rooms are nice big and clean with a beautiful balcony.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and really enjoyed our time there. Everything was great from the moment we arrived. The place is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. The location is amazing. Everything is right here. Restaurants, shops, and the main street are all very close, and the surfing beach is only about a 3 minute walk away, which was perfect. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. A special thank you to Sajee, who was especially lovely and made our stay even better with his help and positive attitude. The breakfast is classic. Simple, but really good and enjoyable. The only small thing worth mentioning is that the Wi Fi works, but the signal can be a bit weak sometimes. Other than that, everything was excellent and we would definitely stay here again.

A large and comfortable bed. Good breakfast. The staff is very helpful. There are many shops and restaurants nearby.

The beach is not very nice and is mainly suitable for surfers; it’s not very pleasant for relaxing with family. The pool is small, and the water has too much chlorine. The hotel is located by the road, and the traffic noise at night and early in the morning can be disturbing.

It was very relaxed, great place for remote working as well, very close to the beach.

In our room (no. 12) everything was great apart from one thing - ants. There were many many ants. We dealt with them on our own, but it was a surprise definitely.

De kamer was wat kaal en naast ons was de ruimte voor de onderhoudswerkzaamheden, daar waren ze vaak met wat lawaai aan het werk/ bouwplaats naast ons huisje

Die Lage war an sich ganz gut, weil zentral. Aber vor dem Hotel am Strand sind unzählige Surfschulen und daher ist der Strand eher nicht fürs Baden für Familien geeignet - da wird man schon fast übersurft. Das Hotel war sauber und das Zimmer sehr schön und modern. Auf Nachfrage durften wir ein bestimmtes Zimmer als Familie nutzen, welches eigentlich nur für zwei Personen ist (unsere Kinder sind noch sehr klein und schlafen bei uns). Was sehr hervorzuheben ist: das Frühstück war leider nichts für unsere Kinder (hatten davor schon eine Magenverstimmung und wollten daher "Essen wie zuhause") und wir konnten uns mit dem Hotel einigen, dass wir unser Frühstück auslassen, dafür aber ein paar Drinks (statt dem Frühstück) am Pool konsumieren und sie uns dafür nichts extra verrechnen. Hätten sie nicht müssen, war also überaus entgegenkommend von ihnen! Das Team generell war sehr engagiert und wenn man eine Anfrage hatte, dann kümmerten sie sich gleich darum. Das Hotel wurde nachts "zugesperrt" bzw bewacht - man fühlt sich also wirklich sehr sicher! Der Lärm von der Straße direkt daneben ist wirklich sehr laut, ABER die Fenster sind sehr, sehr gut verglast, dass man im Zimmer kaum was hört davon! Auf der Terrasse gemütlich sitzen ist aber nicht so entspannend..

Der Pool hat extrem nach Chemie gerochen, sodass auch die Kinder nicht so gerne rein gegangen sind. Generell ist der Pool schon bisschen in die Jahre gekommen und Reparaturen hie und da wären notwendig. Das Zimmer wurde nicht gereinigt, erst auf Nachfrage (dann aber sehr bald!). Kein "eigener Strand" - muss jetzt per se kein Hotelstrand sein, aber der Strand war eben überfüllt von Surfschulen und SurferInnen und daher wars als Familie einfach nicht passend. Das Meer war auch nicht sonderlich schön in dieser Bucht (eine Bucht weiter in Mirissa hatten wir einen ganz tollen Badetag mit perfektem Familienstrand). Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hat nicht ganz gepasst. War dann doch sehr teuer, aber das drum herum hat nicht ganz gepasst.

La piscine est jaune, pas très propre. On a été sous-gradées pour une raison pas claire, c’est en allant râler sur le fait que la chambre ne ressemble pas aux photos qu’on nous a donné la bonne chambre, et celle-ci n’était ni propre ni préparée.

The service from the staff was amazing. They exchanged our Stirling for Sri Lanka Rupees. Lovely breakfast. Location so close to the beach and next to lots of eateries to choose from. They also accommodated last minute and airport run for us. Very helpful and kind right from arrival. ☺️

Prima locatie. Ontbijt was Klein en niet bijzonder, beter haal je wat in de buurt. Kamers waren prima netjes.

Foto’s en de prijs wekken de indruk dat het luxer is dan het daadwerkelijk bleek (wel nog steeds prima verbleven).

Even though we booked a superior double room with sea view we were given a room at the corner of the building which I am sure used to be a storage. We refused to stay in that room and luckily moved a better room. Looking at the previous reviews I see many people complained about the same room so think twice before booking. There is limited breakfast, they offer 3 different menus you can choose. Not the best but okay. Rooms are not cleaned unless you ask for it. Same goes for pool facilities, I witnessed the color of the pool water turned green through out our stay and I had to ask it to be cleaned. Price is too high to what they overall offer

Really lovely staff, great breakfast, brilliant location, clean and spacious room with an ocean view.

If I had to pick any fault with this hotel, it would be that there was a kettle but no tea/coffee provided. But this would be a tiny thing with an overall great stay, would definitely pick this hotel again.

Przy plaży Smaczne śniadania.

Ich war sehr gestresst bei Anreise aber das Personal war super nett. Gemütliches grosses Zimmer mit bequemen Bett. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Ich konnte mich gut am Pool entspannen, tolle Lage direkt am Strand und im Zentrum.

Durch die Nähe zur Straße etwas laut, oropax nicht vergessen;)

Da off Saison ist, waren wir die einzigen Gäste. Alles waren sehr bemüht und haben unsere Wünsche erfüllt.

Overpriced for what you got. Breakfast was very poor, the food was cold and tasted stale. They said I had a mini fridge, but there wasn't one in the room. When I then asked for one they said they would get one, I never got one in 6 days.

Location was good - just cross the road to the beach. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Pool was lovely and no one seemed to use it. Breakfast was okay but restricted choices and had to order the Sri Lankan option the night before. Room was good after we complained.

Arrived at hotel to be told that the room booked on Booking.com was not available.... so had to pay extra for an upgraded room. We were taken to a terrible room with extremely bad air conditioning, no fridge, no jug and a dirty room. We complained and were then shown to a "family room" which looked exactly like the room that we originally booked.... It was a clean, spacious room with good air conditioning, fridge etc. Staff were not very friendly. Wifi was not very good in the room- only in the lobby..

הזמנו את החדר של הקווין, וכשהגענו שדרגו אותנו בחינם לקינג. החדר של הקינג מאוד גדול מרווח ונעים; מיטה ענקית, ספה, שתי כורסאות, מקלחת גדולה, מגבות מפנקות, מזגן מעולה+מאוורר תקרה והשוס - מרפסת לים. יש הרגשה מאוד פרטית :) המלון כולו וגם החדרים מאוד מאוד נקיים, נראה שמקפידים על זה מאוד. אנחנו עברנו אחרי שני לילות לחדר יותר זול - יותר קטן אבל עדיין מאוד נעים ונקי ומיטה גדולה עם פאתיו נחמד שאפשר לשבת בחוץ. מי שגולש מתחיל - זה מיקום מושלם מול החוף מעבר לכביש. בריכה כיפית, גם מקפידים על לנקות אותה ולשים חומרים מחטאים כל לילה, והיא נעימה עם מיטות שיזוף ליד. השהות כוללת ארוחת בוקר שאפשר לאכל בחלל של המסעדה, גם מאוד מרווח עם הרבה ירוק ואויר טוב ומוצל. האוכל טעים ומגיע עם קנקן קפה / תה, בכללי יש הרגשה של נדיבות. הצוות מאוד מאוד נחמד זמין, ועוזר בכל מה שצריך - אני הייתי חולה וישר קלטו את זה וכיוונו אותי למרכז רפואי (ממש קרוב שזה גם פלוס), דאגו לשלומי, הביאו לנו משחת שיניים כשהיה חסר, טייגר בלם לעזור לכאב גרון, וסתם טעימות של מנגו מהעץ. הרגשה מאוד בייתית. אנחנו עדיין פה, נשארים לפחות שבוע, מרכזי - צמוד לכביש הראשי של החוף, קרוב להכל, ונעים לשהות.

Lokalizacja! Dużo wspólnej przestrzeni z której można korzystać. Śniadanie w stylu Sri Lanka bardzo dobre, natomiast pozostałe opcje dosyć skromne.

Overall it was a satisfactory stay. The location is perfect and the pool is really good with a depth of 7 feet. Breakfast was okay and nothing to complain about. Good place with great potential but the service needs improvement

The only downside was the staff. The welcome felt strange and they acted like they were not expecting us. They were not very helpful which took away from the experience.

Great location. Super friendly staff, they really went out of their way to make it as comfortable for us as possible. For example, they gave us a room to shower after check out on our last day because we only had to leave to the airport at night. They offered room service on request. Our room was very spacious and comfortable for a group of three. Nice common spaces throughout the whole property (inside and outside).

Ideale locatie! Het ligt aan de hoofdweg en met 1 minuut lopen ben je op het strand en dichtbij alle restaurants. Een fijn, schoon zwembad. En lekker uitgebreid ontbijt.

De prijs-kwaliteit was niet in verhouding. Wij hadden een basic kamer geboekt, maar voor die prijs hadden we meer verwacht. De kamer was niet erg schoon. Eén van de duurdere accommodaties in Sri Lanka die we hadden, maar stond niet helemaal in verhouding.

Perfect location for surf schools, beach and restaurants.

Currently has construction work going on and was not informed at time of booking, therefore not able to relax around the pool during the day due to noise and welding /grinding being done right beside it. The in-house restaurant was also closed possibly due to time of year, however a basic breakfast was served as part of our booking? Our room (which we were upgraded to after requesting to be moved away from the work going on outside our door)required some maintenance ie. leaking plumbing hand basin, shower head stay broken. They have a lovely pet dog but would often bark if put into its kennel 😔 The staff were always polite and helpful where they could.

We stayed here for more than a month. Everything is great. The staff is friendly, the breakfast is amazing every time. They really take care of their guests. The location is one of the best in Weligama, you cross the street to surf. It's close to all the things you need. Just perfect. Pool is great and clean.

Perfect location in the town. Amazing pool and fantastic staff who helped organize a moped and with any requirements. Room was large, immaculately clean and spacious.

It’s super close to the beach, nice big comfortable rooms, staff is super nice and friendly and I got a free upgrade (thanks Sajee).

The staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging us transport to the airport and let us check out later for a later flight. Room was immaculately clean and bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and cool aircon. Bathroom supplied shower gel, shampoo and hair dryer. Great coffee for breakfast too.

The location was fantastic, the beach is right across the hotel and on the main strip of Weligama. The hotel manager Sajee was great and very accommodating.

Location is lovely, staff tried very hard to please you. Pool area was clean and comfortable. Breakfast wasn't a massive choice but what you did get was plentiful, fresh and amazing

The place is fantastic! The staff is super friendly, rooms are comfy, and the pool is a nice bonus. Plus, the breakfast is delicious and the beach is right there!

I was disappointed having read the reviews of this property. Compared to other places I have stayed in Sri Lanka it did not represent good value for money. I had upgraded to a deluxe room the day before based on reviews of access to WiFi (and pictures of the rooms). Whilst spacious I would not describe my room as deluxe, no safe, quite run down, expensive mini bar. The shower would not stay fixed so had to be hand held, there was an overpowering smell in the room (might have been cleaner but not a pleasant smell and gave me a headache). The WiFi (which I had upgraded for) did not work at all in the room. I decided to check out early and find an alternative property as there were no other rooms I could look at. The staff were disappointed but polite and helpful. Good choice at breakfast. Pool area is nice but small.

It was a very nice hotel with a nice pool. But nowhere near a 4 star hotel as they claim. All the neat small things was missing. But still to a 4 star hotel price. So overall disappointing. .

Location was great, right opposite to the surf school. Have a nice pool and the rooms are really spacious. Only issue is the communication with the staff was a bit challenging in English, but nothing some body language can’t solve.

We had to fight to have a room with two beds which was what we had reserved.

Location on a noisy main street, even though we requested a room in the garden area in the reservation, we were in a room next to the main street the first night - very noisy. Then the manager moved us to the requested garden area. Very simple small breakfast .... Overall feeling the price does not match the quality ....

The staff was very kind and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. We had the chance to see the new rooms which are big and very nice. The location is perfect, very close to the beach and the surf schools. They organized our different transfers and it was perfect each time.

The hotel exceeded all my expectations! Located right in front of the beach, with friendly and helpful staff, well-organized and beautifully decorated common areas, and a big, fresh, and clean room. The breakfast is good. I would stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was very clean with fresh towels. The breakfast was excellent, I especially loved their smoothie bowl. We also tried dinner—delicious as well! The ambiance was very relaxed. The staff were incredibly attentive. The location is perfect, just opposite the best surf spot and close to the city center. I also had the chance to visit their brand-new rooms, which are of much higher quality, with a huge bay window overlooking the sea. Beautiful.

The staff were friendly, the pool area was nice with lovely garden, shaded areas and clean pool. The Sri Lanka breakfast was great. The bed was comfy and there was a stocked mini bar. Directly infront of the sea with all the beginning surfing lessons.

It lacked a homey vibe unfortunately. Felt a little beige & a little expensive for what it was. But overall was ok.

The staff was so kind and service minded! We stayed in one of the new rooms, very nice and modern. The food was great and there is a nice pool area!

We had a roadside room and it gets noisy with the honking and etc. Be sure to ask for a room garden side. The beds are not that comfortable, our bed made some noise. Lots of Russian tourists and they're noisy.

Everything really was great - modern, clean and the staff are friendly and hospitable. when they get the rooftop bar sorted (by early 2025 I believe...) this place is gonna be really awesome 👍🏼👍🏼

The manager and all staff were very helpful and incredibly friendly. The food was excellent and I loved the pool and lounge areas.

I'm not keen on Weligama but Marissa is only a short drive away.

Nothing at all

We were 2 families traveling from India and we occupied 2 rooms. Rooms were very noisy as some construction work was going in the hotel, not worth the money we spent for the hotel room. They served very basic breakfast and served us cold srilankan breakfast. Absolutely not recommended.

We vacationed in October. Friendly staff, clean room, clean pool and sun loungers. The ocean is across the road. Breakfast to choose from, ok, but not great. In general, in all hotels where this happened.

The room was not cleaned during our stay. At the end of the trip there was already sand on the floor, as it was carried from the street and the beach. Perhaps if we had asked, they would have removed it, but we didn’t ask because we were there for 3 days. Smells damp. It was undergoing renovations when we were there and there were knocking noises throughout the day. And the view from the window into the wall, we were on the first floor.

Extremely friendly and accomodating staff - allowed late check out due to needing to visit local hospital, arranged transport and also provided umbrellas. Good room, nice to have a pool.

Building work throughout the day which was noisy and intrusive.

The place is in perfect location - 1 min away from the beach and all surfing schools. Cozy pool area, clean big pool. Spacious hotel - huge restaurant area, few corners for cosy calm relax in hamak or even a game room for cards or other table games. Rooms are clean, spacious, good ventilation, big balconies. Good restaurant with various food to choose. We booked here for 3 days and stayed for another 3 - you just dont need to stay at crowded Mirissa or other places, if you're searching for calm, cozy, family friendly place.

We had a Sri Lankan breakfast and it was superb...!!!
