They scammed us out of our money. We paid in advance. When we turned up they said we had been scammed and You, BOOKING.COM had ripped them off and not paid them. They offered us a room if we paid cash

We arrived there and were told that they didn't have our prepaid reservation. We would have to pay them €86 in cash.

We had a lovely stay at Sonas House. Bed was comfy and a great selection of fruit, pastries, cereal etc to get us off to a good start to the day. Very convenient location. Thanks Adrian!

Good location and easy walk to attractions

Cramped room with very musty smell. Weird shower setup that was often cold. When we arrived owner advised that he hadn’t been paid by Booking.com and we had to pay him again in cash - all others arriving were told the same thing. Had to spend lots of time communicating with Booking.com to try and resolve - first time we have ever had a problem with a reservation.

Une fois arrivés sur place, nous avons été incapables de récupérer nos chambres. La personne sur place, qui n'était pas Charlene, nous a informés que notre réservation avait été faite de manière frauduleuse et qu'il était nécessaire de repayer la réservation en espèces. Nous avons immédiatement contacté Booking, qui a discuté avec la personne présente et qui n'a pas changé d'avis. Booking nous a envoyé une réponse dans les 45 minutes pour que nous puissions réserver un nouveau logement dans le secteur. Nous sommes vraiment déçus car nous n'avons pas pu visiter Kilkenny comme nous l'avions prévu.

Do not book here!!!! I can't comment on the facilities, as didn't get booked in. Despite having paid in full through this booking provider, the "host" called our booking "fraudulent" and demanded the full cost of the booking to be paid in cash before we could check in --- we left!!!

Ne vous faites pas avoir : le propriétaire de l'établissement est un arnaqueur. Il nous a fait croire qu'il n'avait pas reçu l'argent de la part de Booking et qu'il n'avait pas réussi à les joindre, il nous a demandé de retirer la somme en espèces pour pouvoir accéder au chambre. J'ai pu constater avec Booking par la suite qu'il avait bien reçu le virement... Il était négligé, très nerveux et presque agressif. L'intérieur sentait mauvais et il y avait une odeur de cannabis dans l'air. Il était indiqué sur l'annonce que c'était une femme qui gérait l'établissement. Il ne nous a également pas servi le petit-déjeuner, pourtant compris dans le prix de la chambre. Nous étions par ailleurs dans la seule chambre sans salle de bain attenante. Il dormait sur place, dans une pièce en dessous de la nôtre et il était très bruyant. Bref, à fuir !

Great location, walk into city centre, supermarkets near by, close to ring route giving easy access from highways. Good basic continental breakfast.

Nothing, Sonas House was CLOSED!!!!! Even though we had pre-paid. There was a note fixed to the gate to contact Booking.com. As it was late in the afternoon, this was EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT & STRESSFUL as we had to search & pay for alternative accommodation!!! WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A FULL REFUND FOR THE UNAVAILABLE ACCOMMODATION & WE WISH TO BE FULLY REIMBURSED FOR THE ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION WE HAD TO FIND.FROM BOOKING.COM. We have as yet not had ANY RESPONSE from Booking.com.

La camera è piccolina ma accogliente. Bagno privato esterno alla camera ma ben tenuto. Colazione molto interessante e gustosa. Il personale disponibile e molto accogliente! Posteggio comodo e gratuito.

Le scale per accedere alla camera sono scomode se si possiede una valigia grande.

Petit bémol sur le lit mou et qui grince, fenêtre qui ferme mal mais ce n'est que du détail car vu notre niveau de fatigue aucun des 2 nous a empêché de dormir ☺️

Teníem esmorzar contractat i al despertar-nos no hi havia ningú (ni recepció, ni servei de menjador), no hi havia res per esmorzar. Vem trucar als propietaris i no van respondre ni aparèixer, vem haver de marxar sense esmorzar..... lamentable

This was a highlight in my trip through Ireland. Charlene was an incredibly accommodating and welcoming hostess. She made last minute changes to our room needs, cooked us an incredible breakfast (best Irish pancakes), and was available to help any time we needed her. The property was charming, clean, and spacious. I had the best sleep I had had since my arrival in Ireland. Stay here - you won't be disappointed.

Honestly nothing. It exceeded our expectations on every level.

Le petit déjeuner ne nous a pas été servi Après une heure d’attente la propriétaire des lieux ne nous avait toujours pas pris la commande et ne nous avait rien servi!!! Les autres voyageurs (8 personnes) étaient dans la même situation. Ayant des impératifs de temps nous sommes donc partis à 9:30 a.m. sans avoir déjeuné. Je peux comprendre qu’il puisse y avoir ponctuellement un problème mais dans ce cas il faut donner des explications . À défaut c’est du manque de respect ou de l’incompétence.

La struttura è in ottima posizione, a 15 minuti a piedi dal centro cittadino. Charlene è un'eccezionale padrona di casa e sa mettere a proprio agio gli ospiti. La stanza era pulita e dotata di tutti i comfort. Possibilità di parcheggio nel cortile.

Il bagno era privato ma esterno alla camera. Comunque molto spazioso e pulito.

Very well maintained and super clean. Charlene is a wonderful host who is kind, generous, and accommodating.

Large bed in the family room is a little soft, and we had a bit of trouble getting hot water in the shower.

Host was enthusiastic and had contacts to provide us answers, book taxis, provide a list of places to dine. The room was clean and spacious. The host packed a lovely breakfast for us as we had to leave early morning.

Late night after dinner, the walk was not so safe as young kids about 10 years old were throwing things at us. We were a little lost near The Black Cat where they were. A lady living nearby gave us a ride home. We met nice and helpful people along the way.

Accueil très sympathique et enthousiaste de Charlène. Avec de très bons conseils pour les visites et un excellent petit déjeuner. (Pancakes exceptionnels) Très bon emplacement pour visiter Kilkenny à pied. Une grande salle de bains très bien équipée.

Breakfast was great! I liked having choices. Location was great for walking into town. Charlene was a great hostess. Rooms were spacious, clean and decorated well.

Ditch the plug-in air fresheners. We found them too strong. I wish there was a garden area or something outside to hang out in. We had TV access issues, but Charlene was right there to save the day...lol

I highly recommend staying here for a visit to Kilkenny. Charlene was the kindest B&B host. She was so welcoming and helpful. She also accommodated a vegan breakfast for me, I just let her know when I made the booking. 10/10.

La proprietaria è una persona fantastica. Ha reso il nostro soggiorno speciale. Il parcheggio privato è davvero molto comodo. La camera era bellissima e pulita. È situato a 15 minuti dal centro a piedi e comunque vicino a due supermercati. La colazione era perfetta e ha reso la giornata più facile da affrontare.

Clean, comfortable, and everything I needed close by! Walking distance to town, where you can wander for hours! Great food and shopping. Delicious breakfast with lots of choices! Was greated and bid farewell like a dear friend. Truly enjoyed my stay!

Nothing! Reminder, the electric shower takes a minute to level its temperature out (they all do). Scalding hot then freezing cold, but once it figures itself out, it stays perfectly regulated and warm.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und haben gleich Tipps bekommen, wo wir in Kilkenny einkehren können. Die Zimmer und Bäder sind groß und sauber. Zum Frühstück gab es eine Karte für den Warmanteil wie Irish Breakfast, Rührei, Bacon und Porrigde. Parken konnten wir direkt auf dem Grundstück. Zur City ist es fußläufig.

Wir waren nur 1 Nacht hier, dafür war es für uns gut und es gab nichts zu beanstanden!

Charlene was very understanding and accommodating when our arrival was impacted by a flat tire. We were provided with convenient parking. The cook to order breakfast was very good and Charlene was very friendly and attentive! We appreciated the hair dryer and the face cloths provided. We also liked the hot water kettle and instant coffee provided in the room. We appreciated the little closet area to put suitcases since the space in the main room is very limited. The location was quiet and convenient. We were thankful we could open the windows as it got a little warm and stuffy. Thank you!

We had a little trouble finding the driveway to Sonas House. The house is back off the street a bit and the actual driveway/turn was not noted in our GPS directions so we ended up behind the house. We just got a "You have arrived" notification but the house is not visible from the street. A note in our arrival instruction to watch for the black gate after the turn would have been helpful. I didn't not feel very "welcomed" by the male checking us in but it very well could have been our fault due to our arrival which was later than we expected. A note on the switch (located OUTSIDE the bathroom) that controlled the shower (note to "KEEP SWITCH ON") -OR- instructions at the shower regarding how to operate it - would have been very helpful as we spent a LOT of time trying to figure out how to get the shower to work. We had accidentally turned the shower switch off when attempting to turn bathroom light on. A mirror near an outlet in the bedroom would be very helpful for using the hair dryer. There is very little floor space in the room, so all of the many pillow on the 3 beds were a bit much and could be reduced in number since there is no place to put them except on the floor which seems gross to me and is a less than an ideal place to put them. It would be very nice if the closet area had luggage racks (vs. the armoire/closet and little cabinet) since there is no room for luggage in the main room.
